On this ostracon, sketched in black, the gazelle is the goddess Anuket, emerging from the mountains -- you may have seen many images of the Hathor-cow emerging from similarly stylised hills. Her worshipper, on the other side of a huge pile of offerings, is a royal scribe. Man and gazelle, and the hills, are painted pale orange. I took this photo at the Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition at the Australian Museum.

Lady Anuket is the daughter of Khnum and the younger step-sister of Sobek. She serves alongside other river gods who include her brother and more.

Anuket is gifted at displaying refined and gracious manners among her peers, and fulfilling her duties to perfection. But this kind river goddess still maintains her boundaries and principles; it's best not to test her patience, nor to mistake her grace for being delicate.

The last-but-not-least goddess of the run, Anuket! Out of all the deities featured this month, I think Anuket has the most room for development, both with her character and with her artwork.

In fact, three of those pieces I shared above are all brand new, I just finished them all today 😂 I didn't want her post to be empty in comparison to everyone else okay-- All the more reason I'd like to revisit Anuket some more while exploring the project.

For now though, I have a better idea of her character than I did when I first drew her for inktober, and there's a lot to potentially work with for some time. I just enjoy the idea of a deity with a typical prey-animal form who's still able to kick away any predators or demons who try her -- albeit reluctantly, as she doesn't like to display this “less-than-graceful” side of herself 💦

Blanking a bit on fun facts, though I guess I can clarify why Sobek and Anuket are step-siblings (and/or adoptive… siblings…???). It's because in DEITIES -- so canon in project, not necessarily in the mythology -- they were each created by their respective creator-god parents; Neith created Sobek, and Khnum created Anuket. But they both still consider each other siblings, since their parents had wed each other some time later. With that said, hopefully I can draw the two river god siblings interacting another day, it’d be lots of fun /o/!!

Summary: Yami stays, rather than going to the afterlife. He and Yugi part ways for college. Yugi feels as if he has lost a part of himself as Yami stops contact with Yugi. After five long years, Yami is a successful archaeologist. One of his exhibits is traveling to Japan and he's invited Grandpa and Yugi to be a part of it. How will Yugi feel seeing his friend after so many years of silence?

Comments: Damn, talk about abandonment issues. Yami goes out of his way to cut off communication with Yugi (he still calls Grandpa biweekly) so there's A LOT these two have to deal with between Yugi thinking Yami hates him, Yami worrying so hard it's irrational, Yugi trying to wingman Tea, and Yami creeping through Yugi's apartment. Good weekend read, if you need one.

Bunchberry, Acer City lore//

Scan the Night, 4-player game with a cyberpunk city setting. At first, 4 teens were visiting a friend's house after agreeing to meet up only to discover she, Bella, is found missing. So they collectively choose to search for her before returning home. Tatyana is a social butterfly with a charming, caring personality, she plans to follow a nurse career and start practicing treating injuries by using her friends as the "test subjects"(she is the healer of the group). Jozsi is a nerd boy who is a fan of horror games that look similar to Resident Evil(he is the marksman of the gang, and he also helps shoot things the others cannot reach like roof targets. He made a homemade gun using his dad's old broken crossbow). Anuki is a serious girl who goes hardcore at school and is the leader of her chess club(making her the tactician of the team, she plays a special role of solving puzzles that unlock/manipulate the passageway system) ). Ruslan is a stoic sporty guy, a hockey player with impressive strength(he is the melee, and his weapon is a hockey stick. He makes breaking things look easier than done whenever he throws a disk at targets). Throughout the journey, the game involves breaking a lot of robots, debris, rocks, and metal junk to collect gears and items, maybe even easter eggs like Bella's items that she dropped. There are different areas of the city. Which is Bella's apartment, the mall, the underground sewer, an ice rink, an abandoned school, a laboratory, and finally the train station. All these places listed are connected through a long-hidden tunnel that each section can only be open bit by bit. Once you move forward, you can't return back as the door to return gets locked behind you. So the friend group is determined to go back to the train station once finding Bella while following her traces through the long passage, even if they can't look back. The city is too dangerous to live in so they have to escape at the end somehow.

I'm so glad that 19 Days is still going... I remember talking about it years ago to my husband when it was just a handful of chapters in and to read it so many years later (like almost a whole decade) is just wild and I just love it.
