Feelings are hard.
A quick Aim and Axel drabble
Tw: Angst, Post-Partum Depression (implied) , sickness
Axel belongs to me
Aim belongs to @zu-is-here
Anko was just an accident…a fluke. Certainly not an unwanted accident, just a little blip that wasn't planned.
Axel certainly hadn't planned on becoming a parent so soon out of all his siblings, especially his sisters, with their already blooming relationships. He was alone for the most part before this, the girl of his dreams having rejected him and leaving him in the pitiful ‘friendzone’ as they say. He'd never been the best at expressing his feelings to others besides his immediate family. It was hard to ask for help, or to show weakness, especially when so many people relied on him during harsh times his parents were gone.
…and then he found Aim.
Axel had wanted to explore how far he could go in his multiverse, despite the warnings from his mother about straying too far, thinning the borders between their world and those of an entirely different multiverse. Oras had done it before when she met alternate versions of important out codes and even when communicating with the voices, but he was…in search of someone.
His worst fear was he'd be long gone by then, time was strange between worlds afterall. Axel sort of was annoyed by his parents revealing his immortality so late. He'd remembered sensing a little spark so long ago in his childhood that stuck close to his heart for so many years.
Axel searched for what felt like forever, a grassy field before him with a tall, healthy apple tree in front of him. When all hopes seemed lost he hadn't noticed a much larger skeleton looking surprised a few feet away from him.
“...Can I help you?”
Axel laid his head on the soft cushion tiredly, although it did nothing to stop the constant aching sensation in his body.
…no one had told him being a parent could be so scary.
There were never any troubles with Anko. He'd appeared one day, only serving to complicate the relationship between Axel and the couch potato Aim had reserved himself to. He wasn't born by normal means, he'd just appeared one day, a happy little accident that was quickly accepted into the family.
But this was different.
The baby currently curled up in the bed in front of him wailing away hadn't been made like that.
Axel understood Aims' way of affection, he understood and respected that way in which he showed it. There had been a spark one day, and whether they thought of it or not, a decision was made. Axel had wanted more, he'd wanted love, he wanted to be someone worth loving…but also love others that way too.
“Shhh…” Axel tried to hush the suffering little girl gently, her soft cries making it hard for him to focus his own thoughts. It was hard being weak for so many months, the vulnerability was foreign to him, even with the support he was shown. And yet…things hadn't been okay.
He was scared, oh so scared. Eve, his beautiful daughter, their beautiful daughter… had been born sick.
She was sick, and they didn't know why. Her body and soul were weak, leaving her vulnerable and frail. Despite his powerful magic and blood…what could have gone wrong?
Axel tried so hard, he tried to give her whatever worked to ease her pain. It had been several weeks since her birth…and it had gotten worse. Nothing was working, she still coughed, cried, and the most he could do was hush her for but a brief moment. He'd left her older brother with his parents for the time being.
It would be scary if Anko saw one of his parents crying.
It made him feel weak and ugly, but the tears streamed down his face as he reached out, holding Eve's little hand with a gentle yet fierce grip. It was hard to resist the urge to make his crying vocal, but he choked back little sobs as he stared down at her. It wasn't fair. She didn't deserve to suffer so young. It was terrifying, he wasn't…wasn't sure how she would feel better- *if* she would feel better-
“...Axel?”
Axel took a deep breath, quickly trying to wipe his tears away and hide the stains left on the blanket below. “A-Aim… ?” He said, silently cursing himself for stuttering like a fool.
Aim was there, orange tinted goggles and the large body of a huggable man. Even through the goggles he could see the concern on the tallers face. “Everything okay? I heard her crying, but…” Aim paused, watching Axel desperately trying to recompose himself.
“...Were you crying-”
He was going to hate himself for this later.
Axel practically fell into the man he loved for most of his life. He buried himself in his taller frame, unable to stop the cries from coming out. He needed this…
Aim was momentarily stunned as Axel sobbed, weeks of pure exhaustion, worry, and fear crashing down on him in an instant.
“I'm sorry…” Axel apologized quietly, trying to calm himself down. “She's not getting better…I don't know what to do…”
There was a heavy silence.
“I'm scared…I can't do this alone…” Axel finally confessed, “...I need you. I want to be more with you…“ he whispered in a slight pleading tone.
I love you...”

Hello.....if you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (can be canon or non-canon)? Why you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks...
ooo this is such a great question anon! thanks for asking, bud, i've never got this before! Since this question was sent to my animanga blog, i'm going to just answer about couples in fandoms i rb on here!
Even though it seems like I go hard for non-canon couples (which believe me I do), there are so many canon couples that I actually love with my entire heart:
hak/yona (akatsuki no yona)
even though i still have to catch up to this manga, this couple has owned my heart since the moment they appeared on page. they are the definition of a true power couple who will go to the ends of the world to save one another. they throw themselves into danger just so the other can have the chance of safety. they've got one another's back through everything and anything. they will yell at one another but hold hands together side by side as they stand staring down their enemies. i just love how hak inspires yona to stand on her own and yona inspires hak to see the value in himself.
sakura/syaoran (cardcaptor sakura)
they're one of my top three childhood couples. they are just adorable and precious and they deserve only good things ever. they are just children who don't deserve to shoulder so much on their shoulders and yet they do it with minimal complaining. they are there for one another, especially through the hardest moments. he's her pillar and she's his heart. also they jumpstarted my pink x green shipping and i will always love them so much.
inuyasha/kagome (inuyasha)
they are also one of my top three childhood couples. they are everything. inuyasha sees the strength in kagome's compassion when she doesn't see it herself and kagome sees the softness in inuyasha's toughness that he doesn't let others see. they are one of the it couples. they fight, push one another to the edge, and bring one another back without another word. inuyasha's unwavering belief in kagome allows her to grow into a fucking warrior of a girl because his strength keeps her going and growing. kagome accepts all of inuyasha, which is huge for him because he's been accepted by neither world because he's never been enough for either world. but there comes kagome, not giving a shit about the worlds beliefs and going with what she believes in and that's him. it's beautiful.
lan wangji/wei wuxian (mo dao zu shi)
i'm going to cheat here because i haven't finished watching the anime but i have read the novel and watched the live-action show. i have been shipping them ever since i watched the show first because anyone who knows me knows that i love the red x blue ship aesthetic. i love how they went from strangers to friends to enemies (but not really) to lovers. it's a classic trope and i will always love it. the fact that lwj recognized wwx when he came back?? that's true love. lwj is there to support wwx when he doesn't want anyone to see him falling and wwx is there to break down lwj's world, to show that there's more to the world than just blindly following rules. the fact that they went from star-crossed lovers to being married is just the best thing ever. they are filled with all the angst AND they get their happy ending.
On to my non-canon couples (they are kept alive in my heart thanks to ao3):
dabihawks (boku no hero academia)
i will say that i have dropped bnha for now (unless two characters die, in which case i'll definitely pick it back up) but that being said, the fact that dabi grew up the child of a hero and turned to villainy while hawks grew up the child of a criminal and turned to heroism? this shit is so poetic. they are parallel lines moving in the opposite direction, ships in the night, opposites attract in such a hellish way. not only is their aesthetic red vs. blue but it's also angel vs. devil - the hero with the wings bathed in the colour of blood vs. the villain with the flames bathed in the colour of the sky. they've got an apollo/icarus vibe that i love so much. there's so much mutual destruction and they had so much potential to be even more insane than they already are.
soukoku (bungou stray dogs)
they are probably my otp of otp's right now, the ones that really kicked the whole red/blue shipping out of control for me. they are idiotic strangers to idiotic frenemies to idiotic enemies to idiotic partners forever. it's so poetic to me that dazai's ability is named no longer human and yet he's the one to bring back chuuya's humanity to him. i just really love that chuuya, who feels so brutally human so much of the time, hosts a god of calamity and can only be brought back to himself by dazai's touch. like point me to a better lvoe story than that? you can't because they are the epitome of catastrophic love. they don't judge one another's actions because they understand one another better than anyone else can. they are each other's weakness and each other's strength. they will destroy one another before anyone else can get the chance.

I just don't get what they are doing on CR and it's stressing me out lol. Like,Laura what are you doing, why are you checking specifically if Beau had sex and not both of them? What was that look? Why didn't they use that big moment for Y to at least bring some depth to BY? Are they meta gaming, cause technically B watched Y fall asleep to the image of her and Zu just 2 days ago,so she has had no idea Y has feelings for her?? And it's been what, less then a week since B said J was cute sunburned?
man idk. the more episodes pass since hiatus the more convinced i am that there was some out-of-game discussion regarding ships. by is being pushed now and bj is pretty much nonexistent in comparison. i’m not sure what laura is thinking. the way i see it, there’s two possibilities, and one is infinitely more likely than the other.
to be clear in case this ends up in the tags: i have no issue with b/y as a ship. i personally prefer b/j but this is not meant to be ship negative towards b/y.
1) there was ship discussion off camera, or otherwise some out of game decisions made individually to drop the bj plotline and swerve to by. this would not actually be a problem if
b/j had some kind of resolution (it hasn’t been that long in game terms since beau basically said she was in love with jester, so this heel turn seems very sudden in canon)
there was actual by development beyond the same awkward flirtation we got oh, in the very beginning of the campaign. literally nothing has changed. if they’re going for by they should at least show beau getting over jester and pivoting rather than just dropping it like it never existed, and also spend time developing/deepening the by connection so that there is actual chemistry beyond “hhh girl with sword”. and
if laura/jester didn’t have the occasional questionable moment toward beau, like the sex question for example, which felt very similar to jester’s reaction to reani. could it be platonic jealousy? sure of course, especially with jester’s background. but for it to keep cropping up specifically in moments where beau is flirting/coming on to other girls is a bit odd, because you would think it would happen any time beau is particularly close with someone else if it was strictly platonic. (for example, if jester reacted the same way when beau talks to nott or fjord, it would make sense in a sort of like “am i being replaced?” friend jealousy type of way.)
2) marisha, laura, and ashley are actually playing a helluva long con. let me explain.
beau confesses to nott about her feelings for jester. she insists she’s not going to do anything about it, likely because she thinks jester likes fjord/is straight and she doesn’t have a chance anyways. we see through both in game interactions and in talks machina that beau’s feelings for jester are deeper than just a crush, likely love or something close to it (pre hiatus)
beau pivots to yasha, because yasha is attainable. this is not to say beau’s feelings for yasha aren’t genuine (i believe she is at least attracted to her even if it isn’t love), but that beau is sort of masking her feelings for jester by refocusing on yasha. jester’s not gay anyways, why bother? she and yasha could totally work out. she just has to get to know her more, is all. (post hiatus)
jester showing uncertainty/jealousy when seeing beau & yasha returning to old flirting patterns, especially in regards to whether or not they had sex. this is very similar to her reaction towards reani. jester may not be aware of why it upsets her, but it does. (last episode)
i believe yasha is attracted to beau. i don’t know if this goes any deeper than surface level, mainly because i don’t think yasha is quite “over” zuala. if done right, b/y should take time purely so that yasha can move past her late wife and fall in love with beau. right now i think it’s still very early stages on both sides where it’s mutual attraction but not quite Deep yet.
two possibilities from this point.  A) “missed connection”: jester will realize she has a thing for beau after beau gets over her and b/y becomes canon or very close to it. by this time beau will be over her, and jester won’t say anything to beau herself about it. angst abound. some confusion over sexuality. (bi jester?) then maybe f/j + b/y endgame.  B) b/j endgame with either b/y angst (unrequited on yasha’s end) or b/y casual: jester realizes she likes beau, beau is still in love with jester despite her feelings for yasha, resolution is beaujes endgame with yasha giving a “blessing” so to speak for beau to pursue happiness as she would understand due to her love for zuala still being present.
frankly. second option could be a great fanfic but at this point i consider it very much tin foil hatting and incredibly unlikely to play out that way in game. the only thing that makes #2 even remotely likely for me is the ??? regarding laura’s choices with playing jester as upset/jealous over the b/y moment. it could be interpreted both platonically and romantically. i just don’t know what laura’s doing.
but, most likely we are looking at the fan favorite ships becoming canon because reasons. i’d say just to temper your expectations and don’t hold out for beaujes at this point unless something changes. i’d love beaujes as much as anyone trust me, i’ve been shipping it since long before the boat scene - but as of currently, i don’t see it happening canonically.
sorry for the long ass response i have a lot of Thoughts

person who has never seen the untamed explains the untamed
this is for @jessenigma, who said in response to this post:
well now I definitely want you to describe what you think it’s about based on gifsets and screaming, even though I don’t know the drama
ask and ye shall receive, my friend!
first, my credentials for explaining the untamed to you:
i have never watched a single episode,
i have never read the source material,
i have never consumed any other adaptations of the source material,
i’m not very familiar with this genre, so i’m missing a lot of knowledge of genre conventions, and
i don’t know chinese, which hampers my comprehension of some of the posts i see about it, BUT
i DO have a lot of mutuals who make content about the untamed and i have been injecting angsty gifsets of it directly into my veins for the last 2+ weeks*, which as it turns out is all the qualification you need to make an uninformed tumblr post about a show!!
i’ve never gone looking for any information about this show or its source material, so all i know about it comes from tumblr posts that have come across my dash or from the few fics i’ve read, which obviously don’t have to adhere to canon so who knows if the things i’m taking away from them are things i should be taking away from them.
i’m gonna number my guesses so that folks watching the drama can score me if they want to. come tell me how many i got wrong!!
*[OKAY sorry i just found this post in my drafts...i started it like a month ago but it started getting really long and i never finished it. i think i am actually gonna start watching the untamed soon, at which point i will no longer be a person who has never seen the untamed, so i’m posting this before it’s too late!]
source & production. the untamed is a chinese tv drama based on a novel. idk what the name of the show is in chinese, but i think people abbreviate it to...cql? unless i’m thinking of the database programming language sql. which i guess is possible.
the novel is called...something with the initials mdzs, which i think translates to “grandmaster of demonic cultivation.” (i wanna say mdzs stands for mo dao zu shi, but don’t score me on that because everybody just calls it mdzs so i’ve only seen it written out a couple of times on ao3. maybe just give me extra credit if by some miracle i got it right?)
there have been a bunch of other adaptations of the source material, including a manga, a radio drama, and an animated series which is currently in season 2!
the novel has canon gay characters, including the two mains who are in loooove and get married, but the untamed isn’t allowed to show gay relationships. it’s hella queercoded though.
the two lead actors are xiao zhan and wang yibo. that is literally the extent of my knowledge about the cast. they’re both extremely pretty.
one thing that i didn’t realize right away, and this could definitely just be my genre and/or cultural ignorance, is that the entire show (i think) is dubbed by different actors? so each character has a voice actor and a...body actor (idk the term lol) and they’re two different people, like james earl jones/the bald white guy who played darth vader in return of the jedi. idk why, though. nobody is commenting on it, which is why i feel like it might be a genre thing.
worldbuilding. the show (and probably the novel too but idk anything about the novel) is set in a fantasy universe full of long hair and flowy robes and that whole aesthetic. also, magic!
cultivation is, as far as i can tell, the study and practice of magic, specifically with the aim of becoming immortal? like i guess if you get good enough at it, you can’t die? but i haven’t seen anything that goes into the implications of this. does that mean there are a bunch of really powerful old people in this universe? how common is it that people achieve immortality? maybe no one has ever actually done it before and this is all theoretical, we (meaning i) just don’t know.
there are different cultivation sects that i guess practice different forms of immortality magic, though maybe they are organized around some other principle. people in the same family seem to be in the same sect. idk how you go about joining a sect if your family isn’t already in that sect, but it seems to happen somehow. sometimes you just get adopted, but it seems like there must be other ways.
idk anything about magic systems in this universe, but it seems like you can make magic happen via the playing of musical instruments. you don’t have to, though; you can also do magic through hand gestures. idk if you have to say any special words to make it happen but i don’t think so.
people seem to do different kinds of magic even within the same sect; one lady can shoot purple lightning at people, but her kids can’t (or maybe they just don’t feel like it).
there’s something called a “golden core” which = your soul i guess? or some kind of reserve of spiritual energy inside you, maybe? and if you don’t have one for some reason, there are certain kinds of magic you can’t do anymore?
ANOTHER thing i don’t know is whether anybody can be trained to do magic or if you have to have some sort of magic gene as a prerequisite, but my guess is that it’s the former.
places. the cloud recesses is some sort of cultivation academy...or maybe it’s a monastery, or a spiritual retreat of some kind? i think it’s more like a boarding school, though.
the show covers two time periods, 16 years apart. the earlier period takes place in the cloud recesses.
i think yiling is a city? but i’m not sure.
the burial mounds is also a place and some shit goes down there. some angsty shit. i may not know what it is exactly, but i know it’s angsty af. i mean, it’s called “the burial mounds.” it would be kinda strange if it were a super happy place.
characters. the two main characters are lan wangji and wei wuxian. for reasons that are not clear to me, they are also called lan zhan and wei ying. are these nicknames? are wangji and wuxian special names they were given upon joining a sect? no idea.
lan wangji is also called hanguang jun, which i think is a title rather than a name, and it may or may not be the same thing as calling him one of the twin jades, which he also is, whatever that means.
(the other twin jade is his older brother, lan xichen. i don’t get the impression that they are actual literal twins, but what do i know.)
wei wuxian is, later on, also referred to as the yiling patriarch, i think when he starts his own cultivation sect?
it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure this out, but wangxian is their ship name, not some other separate character.
lan wangji has an uncle named lan qiren who teaches at the cloud recesses.
wei wuxian is an orphan of humble origins who was adopted by the jiang family.
dad jiang (whose name i don’t know) rescued wwx from being mauled by a dog when he was but a wee bairn. he’s now understandably terrified of dogs.
idk mom jiang’s name either but i don’t think she likes wei wuxian very much? i think maybe she also teaches at the cloud recesses.
his adopted siblings are jiang cheng and jiang yanli (who he and everybody in the fandom calls shijie, older sister). jiang cheng also has another name but idk what it is.
pretty sure there’s a lady named ah qing but idk anything about her so i’m not sure that counts.
wen ning is a guy who wwx brought back to life. now he’s a very sweet, adorable zombie and everyone’s afraid of him :(((
the only other character whose name i know is ah yuan, who wwx and lwj were taking care of when he was really little. he got adopted by the lan sect after wwx died (more on that later) and now he’s called...lan sizhui? or similar? the main thing you need to know is that he’s an angel and i would die for him.
okay, how did i do??

Reasons to live and die for
AO3 link Title: Reasons to live and die for Fandom: Mo Dao Zu Shi Characters: Wen Ning, Wei Wuxian Genre/tags: Gen, friendship, introspection, character study of sorts, banter Summary:  Post-canon and novel spoilers up to Exiled’s translation. After that long honeymoon and returning to the Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian decides to visit Wen Ning to see how he's faring, and what he wants from the future. It turns out that Wen Ning's conclusions about life and death and love weren't so different to his own. Notes: Written for my sweet boy’s birthday. For @modaozushi‘s prompt: choices. I feel WWX and WN’s relationship is quite underrated even in canon, so I wanted to fix it a bit into something that shows how much both of them have grown during the book and how they could still overcome the previous master-servant awkwardness and their individual sadness as well.
"Even if I'm not a natural part of it," Wen Ning began, "life is beautiful. Don't you agree?"
"Yeah."
"So I wish to enjoy the time I have left as much as I can. I cannot change what I've done, I cannot atone for all my sins, and neither can you, but I think it's alright... to feel selfish and want to exist and be loved. To see the sunrise or hear the crickets. To feel the rush of adventure. To look forward to smiles and laughter and hugs. It's alright. Even if my heart doesn't beat, it still feels those blessings."
Wei Wuxian blinked.
"If I may be so bold, doesn't young master feel the same?"
It wasn't hard to find the modest wooden cabin at the foot of the mountain, barely hidden in the shade of the forest. Following Sizhui's directions, Wei Wuxian managed to navigate across a lagoon of trees, green canopies allowing shining rays of light to shimmer above his dark hair. Crickets and birds sang around him, and they was the only sounds his boots interrupted.
As he reached the place, a strong feeling of nostalgia filled him. That shabby little hut looked exactly like the ones back in the Burial Mound. Not like it was a surprise, as a good part of them were built by Wen Ning himself. He had followed the suggestions of the rest of his family, of which none of them knew a thing about architecture. Just a rooftop and walls to cover against the weather and possible corpse attacks. Those were the luxuries they could afford.
The fact his friend had even built a place was a pleasant surprise, in fact. Sizhui had told him he hid in a damp cave at first, not unlike Wei Wuxian back in the day. Maybe he was bored and wanted to make something. Maybe the cave was inhabited by bears or some other beast. Regardless, this was a good thing.
Before he knocked on the misshaped plank that could be called a door, it swung open and his eyes found an ashen face receiving him. By instinct, he jumped two steps back.
"Young master Wei!" While his expression hadn't changed, his voice expressed joy.
"Hey! It's been a while, Wen Ning," he smiled.
"Yes. A-Ah... Please come in..."
The man moved to let the other pass inside. The interior actually had more things than Wei Wuxian expected. A large bed and some cushions and mats to sit. A solid table, and on it there was a lamp and candles, despite the fact Wen Ning could see in the dark. A big wooden chest that stood against the wall.
"Please sit," Wen Ning said, his fingers straightening his shirt. "Would you like some tea? I have leaves for black tea, your favorite type."
That's when Wei Wuxian saw the makeshift kitchen in the farthest corner. Inside the half-open cupboard, there was an old teapot and several cheap cups and dishes. There was a large jar of water, half full.
"Sure," he replied. "You're treating your visits well, huh?"
"Um, I try." Shyly, he moved and got the teapot out.
The reason for that house and all those basic commodities, of course, had become obvious. They were not for Wen Ning's sake, but for the boys'. A place to hang out with the junior disciples when they weren't night hunting. A bed when any of them was wounded or had to stay for the night. Just in case they were needed.
"I would've liked some wine better, but I doubt you can afford it," Wei Wuxian joked while his friend filled the container with clear spring water. "Let me help, I have a fire talisman."
Both of them stared at the fire while the teapot simmered. Wen Ning shook his head.
"Even if I had money, I wouldn't buy wine," he carefully replied. "The boys are too young for that, and young master Wei drinks too much."
Wei Wuxian glared at him. "Okay, one: no, they're not. I had alcohol for the first time when I was fourteen, almost fifteen." It was Wen Ning's turn to frown at him. "Two: I've seen some of them drinking in secret! Don't let them fool you. You'll be so popular if you sneak booze for them. Three: I do not! I'm fine!!"
"For now. It slowly destroys your liver," Wen Ning retorted. "Studies prove it."
"And spicy food will destroy my digestive system. I know." He had heard the same speech from Wen Qing's mouth for months, and it was just as annoying.
"You just got a body and you have to take a better care of it," Wen Ning said, now with a sad tone.
"I've done worse things to it, what's one more thing?" A shameless grin was on his lips. He doubted Mo Xuanyu would mind about a slowly poisoned liver more than the stab on his stomach or the frequent wounds or the intense love making. "In any case, I'll probably drink less for the time being. Have you heard?"
"I've heard a lot of stories about young masters Wei and Lan's adventures, but I can't say I know what you mean." Wen Ning took the then hot teapot and one cup to the table. Wei Wuxian noticed he wasn't holding it by the handle. They sat down on two mats and he watched the fierce corpse put the leaves in the cup and serve. They let it soak.
"What a coincidence! We've also heard about you and the kids plenty! Three night hunts, huh?"
If Wen Ning could blush, he was sure he would be after that comment.
"I... see. Regardless, what brings you to Gusu? Is there anything you wanted to hunt? I could give you a hand if you need it so... Ah, but maybe I'd get in the way of you two..."
Wei Wuxian chuckled.
"Don't fret so much! Nah, that's what I was going to tell you. I'm not here for a night hunt. We're staying in the Cloud Recesses for the time being."
"Wait, really?" Wen Ning's jaw dropped. "But Senior Teacher Lan..."
"He missed Lan Zhan so much that he reluctantly allowed me in. I don't think he'll remove that stupid new rule about talking to me soon, but no one's going to obey that one anyway."
"When did you come back?"
"Three days ago. Lan Zhan is busy helping out with clan stuff, so I'm incredibly bored and I asked Sizhui about your location. I figured you'll be bored as well."
"It's relaxing by myself, but I'm honored you decided to visit me." Wei Wuxian mentally called bullshit. As much of an introvert Wen Ning was, he knew he was happier surrounded with his closest people. The same could be said about Lan Wangji. Even Jiang Cheng back then and Jin Ling nowadays, in his opinion. Wei Ying always ended up winning the affections of people with low social activity somehow.
"I would've come sooner but we were dragged into a family banquet just as soon as we got here."
"Ooh, that sounds so nice!" Wen Ning forced a kind smile that wasn't fake.
"It wasn't," Wei Wuxian shook his head. "It tasted as bland to me as it would probably taste to your dead tongue. I remember your sect's over-the-top banquets from that archery competition, and let me tell you: you wouldn't have called that dinner a Banquet at all either!"
"...Oh."
"It's alright, I just had delicious food delivered later, in private." Wei Wuxian sipped his tea. Not bad, not bad. Could use some snacks, but he wasn't going to push it on Wen Ning's limited hospitality.
He glanced at his former servant again. His dark clothes were brand new, no longer the rags he had been wearing the last time they saw each other, three months before. The hole in his chest was gone, too. The boys had a hand on it, surely. He could see some holes sewn, as if Wen Ning had teared it apart during their fights and had it fixed. One of the boys' hand too, perhaps: fingers of a corpse would have a hard time holding needles.
"Wen Ning." The sound of the long teacup clanging on the table echoed through the shack.
"Young master Wei?"
"What are you doing?" Wei Wuxian's question was said with a serious stare, no smile on his lips.
"Young master Wei..." he looked down, avoiding his eyes.
"It's not my place, but I worry you're revolving your existence over one person once again. Don't replace me with Sizhui, Wen Ning."
"I'm not!!" Wen Ning shouted. His hands curled into fists and hit the table, thankfully just a touch that wouldn't break it.
Wei Wuxian just stared in silence, allowing his friend to get upset.
"Not anymore. At first... perhaps I did... He was like sunshine in the darkness." Wen Ning finally admitted.
He gave him more time to sort himself out and drank more tea.
"While Sizhui and the others are back at home, I've had time to think. About being alive, about what I want to do, about whether I deserve this chance or not."
"That's good. So, what's your conclusion?"
"I think I have the same reason to live than you, young master..."
"Ha?" Unless Wen Ning had suddenly gotten a gorgeous bride or groom, he honestly doubted it.
"Let me show you. Do you mind if we walk around?"
Wei Wuxian agreed, his curiosity piqued. The trip out of the woods was annoyingly silent while he waited for Wen Ning to speak again. It didn't happen until they were past the exit, standing on a plain with tall grass caressed by the wind. The sky was clear and the same hue of blue as the embroidery of clouds on the Lans' uniforms and ribbons.
With a tug in his heart, Wei Ying remembered the first day in his new body. How much fun he had when he shocked the Mo family and the Lan juniors, his time wandering at that village. And despite the bad moments, living remained fun for the next days, for the next months. He agreed and nodded with a cackle. Yes, life could be wonderful by itself.
The fact Wen Ning, so taciturn and melancholy, also reached that point of view even with his limitations could only be good. Maybe bringing him back wasn't so bad, after all.
"Of course, I do feel more alive when I spend time with A-Yuan and young master Jingyi and young master Jin and everyone else. And I do want to do everything for them and protect him with my life. That's not all there is to it, though." His eyes smiled where his lips couldn't. "However, yes, I do think that after losing all my family, my main reason is being with those I love when possible. I'll have no regrets when I finally leave this world if I'm allowed to stay with them, and young master Wei too, for as long as I can. Also... I never found night hunts fun when I was alive, but now I look forward to them so much it hurts."
"That I can understand," Wei Wuxian beamed. "Night hunts are better with people you love."
"Is that so?"
"I mean, I've always loved them but it's true. Jiang Ch—" he stopped, not wanting those memories of happy times to resurface. "Anyway, not limited to cultivation partners. Family hunts are awesome, too."
"Sizhui and the others would love to go with you, too. Uh, so do I..."
"I'd love to!" He felt tenderness when he thought about the brats. Yi City with them had been relatively amusing. "Old man Qiren will have a heart attack, but I'm in. Hanguang-jun will be there as well." He probably should ask if it was okay to drag his husband to that, if Wen Ning would mind, if Lan Zhan would mind. But Wei Wuxian wasn't the kind of person who asked for permission. "The kids are fun to be around and so easy to tease."
"Young master Wei, don't tease them so much..."
"They need to learn how to deal with teasing. You know what's sad, Wen Ning? We're adults, but our the rest of our friends and allies are teenagers! We should probably fix that."
"I don't mind much."
"Haha! They are way better than our generation, aren't they?"
They kept walking towards the foot of the mountain, where the long road back to the Cloud Recesses stretched upwards.
"What do you mean with the 'rest of our friends', by the way?" Wen Ning asked.
"Let's see. Lan Zhan is my friend but he's also my lover and husband so I guess that's not really just a friendship anymore."
"I suppose not?"
"And then there's you and me! So, the rest of my friends is everyone else."
The range of emotion a fierce corpse with years of rigor mortis had was next to null, but Wei Wuxian could tell the ones Wen Ning was feeling as clear as day. Incredulity, relief, affection, joy. Not unlike the first time they had met and he had defended his archery skills, perhaps. They had gone through so much together, and yet Wei Ying hadn't realized until that moment how important Wen Ning's silent presence was to him. He didn't treat him as well as he deserved, and he had to work hard on improving that so the other would accept they weren't master and servant anymore, but equals.
"Take care of yourself, Wen Ning," he said with his hands on the man's stiff shoulders. "I'll visit more often, okay?"
"You mean when you're bored, the boys are in class, and young master Lan is too busy to, uh, do things with you?"
"Stop calling me and my sex life out!" He punched Wen Ning's shoulder, with no reaction. "But... yeah, pretty much."
"That's good enough for me, thank you." Wen Ning's lips lifted up as much as they could.
"Ah, and don't sacrifice yourself for the boys, okay?"
"..."
"Yeah, sure, I get it!" Gods if he got it. Most of his two lives were consequences from his constant sacrifices to help people out. "I'd probably die for them in a heartbeat too, especially Jin Ling. And Sizhui, he's my son now—"
"Actually—"
"Shush. By marrying his father I've been promoted from Brother Xian to Dad." He ignored the skeptic reaction, just as he ignored the fact Sizhui had never called him that way. "And you know what, Jingyi isn't related directly to me but fuck it, I'd die for him too. And Ouyang Zizhen, he defended me from a mob. And— I'm losing my point. Listen, let me give you an advice because I just learned this lesson the hard way."
"...What is it?"
"Be less reckless. Avoid dying. For all the cultivation world would love it, you leave behind the ones who love you. You want to stay with them and they want to stay with you. And even when that's no longer the case, and paths separate, new people to love will be here with you. No one is going to think your second death is enough redemption anyway, you know. So! Don't make Sizhui cry, you hear?"
"I'll try... Did your relationship with young master Lan teach you that?"
"In big part. I sure don't want him to mourn me again so soon! But he's not the only one who missed me, was he?"
Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian looked at each other in the eye.
"He wasn't."
Wei Wuxian leaned and rubbed Wen Ning's hard back. He thought about making a comment about how while he didn't cry when he thought Wen Ning and Wen Qing had been burned, he did start to lose his mind from that point. But that wasn't precisely nice to hear, and the other man likely could feel his pent-up anger and loss of control from whenever he had been locked in. Feeling awkward, he finished the short hug with a couple of pats.
"See you around, then! I'll bring my own wine and snacks next time!" he beamed.
"See you around, young master. And don't die either!"
"I sure won't. This pig has cabbage to eat."
Whistling a cheerful, hopeful tune that he knew Wen Ning could hear and feel on his way back to his hut, he ascended through the mountain path.

Heya! I love, love, love your KHR/BNHA fic. Have you ever thought of what will happen with his Guardians around? Also if they were born into BNHA-verse?
CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM KHR AND/OR (MINOR) FROM BNHA
Why, yes. Yes, I have.
Okay, so I based their lives on what quirk will they have or what their background is.
I bet that to keep Mukuro from doing anything illegal, Hibari from imposing his iron-clad rules, and Gokudera from establishing Vongola, Tsuna would push them onto heroics — it helps society, it promotes discipline, it involves fighting, and it’s 100% legal.
I imagine that Tsuna and his friends would be 1-A’s senpai. This is mainly to parallel their class placement in Namimori. Back there, they were middle school sophomores. Now, they’re high school sophomores. Hibari, Mukuro, and Ryohei are seniors.
Now I don’t want Lambo to feel left out (that 9-10 year difference is really big), so I decided that he’s in Izuku’s batch, along with Chrome. Don’t get me wrong — I know Chrome is canonically in the same batch as Tsuna, but I thought that she’s 1 year younger and so Lambo wouldn’t be isolated, I moved her down to his grade level.
I also thought it’d be funny if the main male trio (Tsuna, Gokudera, & Yamamoto) became related to BNHA’s main male trio (Deku, Bakugou, & Todoroki). This isn’t just that; their possible quirks are compatible, too! On the other hand, Lambo is related to a canon character only for quirk-related purposes. Lightning flames resemble Electrification quirk too closely, so it would only make sense if he’s related to Kaminari.
As for their classes, I imagined that Tsuna, Gokudera, and Yamamoto were put into Aizawa’s class and when he committed mass expulsion, only those three passed. They can’t exactly hold a special section for 3 people only, so they were absorbed by the other section. Thus, theirs is the only batch in Heroics department with only 1 class comprised of students more than the usual amount.
(More under the cut.)
So here’s a list of their reincarnated names, quirks, and hero names:
Midoriya Ietsuna
Ietsuna: 家 ie “home/family” + 絆 tsuna(gu) “bond (between people)”
Place of Origin: Shizuoka Prefecture (Musutafu, Japan)
Class: 2-A
Hero Name: Blazing Hero, Reborn
Quirk: Dying Will
Special Move: X-Burner
Current appearance: Green hair and orange eyes
Fun fact, the kanji for tsunagu can also mean to tie or fasten, like actual ropeI decided that his name (I-e-tsu-na) would be as such because both Inko (I-n-ko) and Izuku (I-zu-ku) are like that. It matches.
Izuku’s information in the wiki states that his birthplace “near Shizuoka”. The specific city he lives in is Musutafu (isn’t confirmed to be in any particular prefecture). However…
Tumblr media
“The Shizuoka area” can be interpreted as either “near Shizuoka” or within Shizuoka itself. So I decided to just specify it as Shizuoka. The reason for this is because some would be in another prefecture (e.g. Lambo, being related to Kaminari whilst the main trio are in Musutafu), so segregate them into groups and put them in different places, I say!
The locations I considered for their birthplaces are either in accordance with their BNHA relatives or accessibility to interactions with others. Shizuoka isn’t too far from Saitama (where Kaminari lives in), so it wouldn’t be too farfetched for Tsuna, Gokudera, or Yamamoto to interact with Lambo prior to attending Yuuei.
Okay, about his hero name. Tsuna would be nothing if Reborn didn’t come in his life, and I’m sure he knows that, too. He appreciates his sadistic tutor for everything he has done and he wouldn’t be the person he is today without Reborn’s guidance. Not to mention the fact that they’ve literally been reborn. So I think he would pay homage to his hitman tutor.
His quirk, Dying Will, is more or less the same as his ability in his past life. There are some parts of it different, like not having petrification anymore and only having access to his Sky flames (no Oath flames sorry!):
It’s a physical manifestation of Tsuna’s life force, taking the form of flames. Literally “dying”, because the more damages he takes, the stronger his fire. Literally “will”, because it only burns what he wills it to burn.
Zero Point Breakthrough: First Edition & Revised only works on organic stuff. Life force is organic. People, animals, and plants are living; also organic. Quirk-made energy such as Kaminari’s electricity can only be absorbed by Tsuna because he produced it himself.
Tsuna can’t absorb normal fire, etc. Tsuna can’t freeze non-living things unless they’re organic (produced by a quirk such as the case with Yaomomo) or they’re covered in organic stuff.
Tsuna’s Hyper Intuition is covered by this quirk, too. Being able to harness one’s life force. Dying Will Flames are harnessed from one’s life force. Due to the way it resonates with one’s emotions, it has been regarded as a type of battle aura. Basically, HI is the manifestation of Tsuna’s aura-sensing abilities/passive aura-related abilities.
Another passive ability would be from the “harmony” aspect of Sky flames. In his quirk, this converts to the “pull” that people feel towards him. Their aura is reacting to his aura.
Midoriya Hisashi can breathe fire. I will assume that his relatives also have fire-related quirks, so Tsuna’s quirk can still fall under it.
Tsuna can’t teach Izuku how to light up flames because his abilities are now a quirk - an ability you’re born with and cannot be taught. Dying Will isn’t like OFA wherein he can pass it on, nor is it like AFO in which he can steal and give abilities he stole.
I included special moves because heroes in BNHA have them. Their special move may not exactly be their strongest. Rather, it’s more of which one in their arsenal is their signature move. In Tsuna’s case, it’s his X-Burner.
Whilst Tsuna and the others may have the same faces, things such as their hair color, eye color, freckles, etc. may be different due to having new parents. We don’t know what Midoriya Hisashi looks like, so I gave Tsuna Inko’s hair color instead. He got orange eyes (like in HDWM) because he is now actively tapping into his life force 24/7 unlike before.
With Tsuna around, surely he wouldn’t let Izuku get bullied, yes? Of course, he’d protect his brother from bullies. However, they are in different grade levels and Izuku seems to be the type to hide his troubles so his loved ones wouldn’t worry (even if he doesn’t know that they know anyway). He probably wouldn’t get too bullied, but it won’t go away. Not with Izuku being quirkless, nor with Bakugou’s twisted inferiority superiority complex.
Bakugou Hayatō/Hayatou
Hayatō: 隼 haya “falcon” + 勝 tō “superior/be superior to”
Place of Origin: Shizuoka Prefecture (Musutafu, Japan)
Class: 2-A
Hero Name: Smoking Hero, Hurricane Bomb
Quirk: Explosive Constructs
Special Move: Rocket Bombs
Current appearance: Silver blond hair and red eyes
Yes, “Hayatō” and not “Hayato”, due to the kanji. Now, the first kanji in his name is the same as his old name, whilst the second is from Masaru 勝. Since Bakugou (Katsuki) is a combination of Masaru and Mitsuki 光己 (Katsuki is 勝己), I thought it’s appropriate for Gokudera to get kanji from their parents. Unfortunately, using Mitsuki’s kanji would in no way be read as “haya”. Luckily, “tō” is an alternate way of reading his father’s kanji. A friend was the one to suggest this to me, although I am unsure if it can be considered a “kira-kira” name due to the reading.
Bakugou lives in the same area as Izuku, so that’s that.
Regarding his hero name, Gokudera has both been referred to as “Smoking Bomb” or “Hurricane Bomb”, so I thought, why not both? …The reason for the description as “Smoking Hero” has something to do with his quirk.
For his quirk, I originally thought of giving him Explosive Fire instead (which is fire that explodes upon contact), but then he wouldn’t need his bombs anymore. Gokudera is bomb-reliant. A quirk without involving bombs for him is complete blast-phemy okay sorry for the forced pun and in the end, I gave him the ability to produce his own fireworks. Details:
As the name implies, Explosive Construct is to create explosives. Its main/default/non-removable property is to create an explosion. Now what is particular about this, is what extra attribute his bomb will have.
This extra aspect depends on what he consumes: food, beverages, vices, and other organic things such as leaves and quirk-made stuff (Yaomomo’s creations, Todoroki’s flames, body crystal from that one villain, etc.). For example, Gokudera smokes a cigarette. That’s considered as consumption since he technically inhales the smoke.
Gokudera smokes so he can produce smoke bombs and light up the other explosives he made.
The explosive property is from Masaru, whilst the “manually made from myself/organically-produced” property is from Mitsuki (Masaru can’t forcibly secrete the explody sweat, but Mitsuki can willfully emit her glycerin).
Now, about Gokudera’s coloring: both parents haven’t been shown in a colored spread so I can’t tell what color their hair and eyes are. However, I can assume that one of them has ash blond hair and red eyes (because that’s what Bakugou has). Blond hair is a light color and so is silver, so I gave Gokudera silvery blond. Red eyes because Bakugou. Yeah.
His relationship with his younger brother would be a little rocky. Both are equally hot-tempered. However, they can be vastly different in which Bakugou grows up to be a jerk and Gokudera’s not; not with his past memories, he wouldn’t. Yes, he would be as abrasive as Bakugou, but he wouldn’t be openly hostile without a proper reason. He’ll be irritated, but wouldn’t want to beat you up or kill you for a small issue.
Not to mention that Gokudera’s a goddamn genius as a child in his past life. What more if he had access to his knowledge as an adult, amirite? Bakugou could have formed a sense of inferiority due to his desire to one-up his older brother, too; sibling rivalry.
This could be the reason for Bakugou to be more polite towards Tsuna and Inko. Tsuna’s the supportive-type of brother who wouldn’t antagonize you. He and Gokudera would probably butt heads a lot. Inko is a motherly adult whom he’s known as a kid so he probably wouldn’t be explosive towards her, unlike his potty mouth mother. Izuku is a different story because he’s quirkless and the fuck ton of issues he has with the other.
Man, Bakugou’s a complicated person.
Todoroki Takeshi
Place of Origin: Shizuoka Prefecture (Musutafu, Japan)
Class: 2-A
Hero Name: Samurai Hero, Shigure
Quirk: Tranquil Rain
Special Move(s): Shigure Soen Ryu
Current appearance: White hair fading into red and blue eyes
I couldn’t think of a good new name for Yamamoto, sorry!
Him being part of the Todoroki family was… unplanned. Originally, Tsuna is supposed to be Todoroki’s older brother due to the fire and ice thing. But then I had that idea with KHR main male trio = BNHA main male trio older brothers so… that’s that. Also, rain flames is watery and you can derive water from fire and ice combined.
Endeavor doesn’t seem to be the type to send his kids to a public school, even if they’re just failures. Orudera isn’t exactly a school for the wealthy/famous, so no Yamamoto there. A possible chance of the trio reuniting would be in kindergarten, elementary school, or meeting each other by chance since they all live in the same city.
Why Samurai Hero? Yamamoto is a swordsman. He’s reliant on using a sword and I bet you that he’d bring his mad blade skills to his next life if he could. Why Shigure? Same name as the sword and the sword style. Also, Shigure 時雨 can mean “drizzle” as a whole and “time/season” + “rain”, respectively (it’s also apparently translated as “Shower in Late Autumn”? Dunno how they got autumn there).
His quirk (and Rain flames) match Shigure perfectly:
Can produce water (”rain” in Shigure).
Water can slow down enemies (the “tranquil” part which was originally from rain flames). This part represents the “time” in Shigure.
Other than the fact that they aren’t flames anymore, Yamamoto’s quirk is no different from Rain flames.
His appearance is based on his new parents. Speaking of Endeavor, Yamamoto’s quirk is indeed a mix of the two. However, I bet this isn’t exactly what the man had in mind when he thought of a perfect quirk to beat All Might. Also, it’s water — not really a good idea to mix with his fire. Yamamoto is no pushover either, and his unfaltering sunny disposition would probably put Endeavor off, too.
I think Todoroki’s Half-Hot, Half-Cold is what he prefers because it’s flashy, powerful, and more wholesomely destructive compared to Yamamoto. This doesn’t mean water is weak and useless; I’m just basing it on Endeavor’s perspective.
With Yamamoto as Todoroki’s brother, I don’t think he’d get as pushed to the limit like in canon, but the other probably can’t prevent every abuse from their burning garbage of a father. He can’t exactly run away, either — since Todoroki isn’t willing to leave willy-nilly (also Endeavor, with his influence and power, can probably drag them back home screaming). They didn’t have the luxury of having the mind of an instant resilient adult when they were born.
He’ll just be a pillar of support for his family, I guess.
Haregawa Ryohei
Haregawa: 晴 hare “sun/sunny” + 川 gawa “river”
Place of Origin: Nagano Prefecture
Class: 3-B
Hero Name: Boxing Hero, Counterpunch
Quirk: Activation
Special Move: Maximum Cannon
Current appearance: Mostly the same, I guess?
I just wanted to give him a new surname instead of a revised given name because I couldn’t think of anything and am an uncreative fuck. The first kanji is literally the one used for Sun flames.
Why live in Nagano? Because Nagano borders more prefectures than any other in Japan which kinda parallels Ryohei’s friendliness/openness and the province’s mountains have made it relatively isolated which mirrors Hibari’s isolationist nature (yes, Hibari also lives in this prefecture).
Not to mention that despite Namimori being somewhat an urban community, there’s a large forest nearby (Future Arc) and Namimori Shrine looks like the ones in the provinces, denoting that it’s a town in a mostly rural area.
Hero name reasoning: simple. He’s a boxer. Also references his Sunshine Counter in KHR.
His quirk is also equally simple. He gets to keep the activation aspect of Sun flames, but not the fire aspect. Activation involves stimulating and augmenting stuff. This gets him to keep everything he can do in KHR:
Punch hard? “Activate” (Augment) his own body.
Heal people? “Activate” their cells and body’s healing factor.
The issue with Sunshine Counter/Uppercut: He can’t do this anymore. Well, either that or he can somehow absorb the impact of someone’s hit and activate his body so he can send it back + force from his own power, so double the damage.
About Ryohei’s appearance, I’m not sure about changing anything because his quirk isn’t closely similar to anyone that I’d need him to be related to them, thus, changing his appearance in a way.
I put him, Hibari, and Mukuro in 3-B because I assume that the Big 3 are in 3-A and I didn’t want to put them all in the same class. That’s it. There’s no deeper reason behind it.
Kaminari Ranbō/Ranbou
Ranbō: 乱 ran “disordered/chaotic“ + 暴 bō “acting with destructive force”. Together, 乱暴 is “roughness/violent/rude/act recklessly”.
Place of Origin: Saitama Prefecture
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Lightning Hero, Lambo
Quirk: Lightning Rod
Special Move: Elettrico Cornata
Current appearance: Black hair and gold eyes
I made him related to Kaminari because as I have mentioned near the beginning, it’s quirk-related. Lightning flames are similar to actual electricity. That hits too close to home and I couldn’t let a chance pass wherein I can give Lambo a proper, BNHA-canon biological family. He and Kaminari are twins, with him as the younger one.
About his name, I learned that the romaji for Lambo’s name is an actual word. So I used it as his new given name. It references the role of the Lightning Guardian which is ”To draw damage to himself and away from the rest of the Famiglia, serving as a lightning rod.“.
He belongs in Saitama, because that’s where his brother lives.
Hero name time! So the Lightning Hero is a no-brainer, and I figure that Adult!Lambo (which is the mentality he had before he died) would be pretty laid-back so to speak; thus, he would choose something that isn’t too complicated and has sentimental value… which is his previous life’s name.
For his quirk, it has one major difference from Kaminari’s Electrification — Lambo can’t produce his own electricity. As the name suggests, he’s a human lightning rod; he can only absorb (and release) electricity. It’s why he charges himself with an outside source (such as his brother and household electricity). Once he runs out of electricity, his quirk is useless unless gets to absorb again.
Current appearance: why the black hair? About Kaminari, I’m not sure if his hair is dyed in some way and if so, which color is the dyed part? Is it the blond hair or the black streak? Most likely the streak but you never know. Gold is Kaminari’s eye color. That’s all there is to it.
In BNHA-verse, I imagined him as Chrome’s age. Technically, he’s older than her now: Lambo’s new birthday is the same as Kaminari (June 29) while Chrome, like the others, keep their original birthdays (hers is December 5). Despite this, he still calls her “Chrome-nee” out of habit.
He sits behind Kaminari (Lambo is Seat No. 8), so Kirishima is now Seat No. 9. He and Chrome replace Kouji and Sato in 1-A. I was originally going to put them in 1-B, but there’s too little information about them so… yeah.
Namimori Kyouya
Namimori: 並 nami “average” + 盛 mori “prime/peak”
Place of Origin: Nagano Prefecture
Class: 3-B
Hero Name: Disciplinary Hero, Hibari
Quirk: Propagation
Special Move: None he doesn’t need one
Current appearance: Relatively unchanged
Okay, okay. Since reincarnation = not always having the same surname, I came up with giving him “Namimori” as his family name. Everyone else finds it amusing, but Hibari likes it. Same name as his territory in a previous life where he terrorized the citizens and “disciplined” the unruly, what’s not to like?
As mentioned in Ryohei’s entry, Nagano’s mountains have made it relatively isolated which mirrors Hibari’s isolationist nature. Also, it’d be funny if he grows up with Ryohei all over again. As much as Hibari would more or less break into hives at socialization, Ryohei would reign him in. I mean, have you seen TYL!Ryohei and TYL!Hibari? Like, they’re such bros??
His old surname is too perfect as a hero name, I couldn’t resist recycling it. Hibari 雲雀 as a whole means “skylark”, while separately it’s 雲 “cloud” and 雀 “sparrow”. Skylarks are solitary, migratory, and territorial. Sparrows are the same (not sure if they’re territorial, though).
Similar to Ryohei, he gets to keep the property of Cloud flames, minus the flame part. According to KHR, Cloud flames involve multiplying and expanding. Not really that big of a deal when it comes to the quirk lottery, but with Hibari’s frightening combat prowess, he doesn’t even need to be reliant on an extra ability to beat people into a pulp. Even more so when you beat him down.
Talk to Hibari? He’ll bite you to death.
Fight Hibari? He’ll bite you to death.
Defeat Hibari? Unlikely, since he’ll bite you to death. But in the very miniscule chance that you do get to beat him, he’ll rise from defeat and endure all physical and mental pain out of spite to prove his superiority and assert dominance because fuck you he’s a carnivore.
Exist? He’ll definitely bite you to death, unless you’re a kid or a cute animal.
He also canonically doesn’t have a special move. Maybe it’s because he can bite you to death without resorting to any fancy skill. I dunno.
I picture him as the actual strongest student in Yuuei. He just isn’t… very friendly nor cooperative. He’s also not one for fame, but rather, for infamy. Hibari is the guy you won’t hear about in the news, but one that you’d hear about in gossips and rumors. He’s the perfect underground hero — the more violent and volatile version of Aizawa.
Since he’s such an outlier and a wild card, I don’t think many outside of Yuuei would have heard of him.
But he is a living urban legend on campus.
Kurodo Mukuro
Kurodo: 黒 kuro “black” + 道 do “path/method”
Place of Origin: Yamanashi Prefecture
Class: 3-B
Hero Name: Illusionist Hero, Rokudo
Quirk: Six Paths of Reincarnation
Special Move: Genjuu Gagaia
Current appearance: Substantially the same
Another unoriginal name variation, I know. I practically used the anagram of his surname and used different kanji (though I kept the “do” part).
As for his place of origin, there really wasn’t any deep thought put into it. I looked at a map of Japan, saw Yamanashi bordering Shizuoka, Nagano, and Saitama, and decided “hey, that’s where I’m putting the pineapple wonder duo”. In addition to that, Gran Torino’s apartment is there. It’s a rundown building and it isn’t too farfetched to infer that there are more rundown buildings in the vicinity… where Mukuro and Chrome would feel right at home.
Illusionist Hero, Rokudo is… self-explanatory. He’s an illusionist and Rokudo literally means “six paths”, like his ability (六 roku “six” + do “path/method”).
Six Paths of Reincarnation was too perfect a quirk; it covers the illusion aspect of Mist flames, too. For those who don’t know/remember, the Realm of Hell (first path) grants Mukuro the power to create real illusions capable of manifesting in the physical/real world.
Genjuu Gagaia roughly translates to “Real Illusion Beast - Corpse-Eating Crows”. It’s a pretty… graphic name and very literal in application. It’s also a perfect special move for Mukuro because illusions and violence; and Chrome didn’t use it in canon. Hard to give them a separate special move to develop when they share almost every ability.
And finally…
Kurodo Nagi
Nagi: 凪 “peaceful”
Place of Origin: Yamanashi Prefecture
Class: 1-A
Hero Name: Illusionist Hero, Chrome
Quirk: Illusion
Special Move: Cortina Nebbia
Current appearance: Substantially the same
I kept her original name, because I can.
This time, unlike in KHR, she and Mukuro are biological siblings. This is also to solve the problem of them having closely-related quirks.
I gave her the same title as Mukuro because despite learning how to be independent from her master in KHR… she still looks up to him and owes him a lot, so I think she’d want to emulate him in some way. One minor way is to have the same hero title. For her name, Chrome is too perfect of an alias. Not her real name, has sentimental value, and is an anagram of Mukuro’s name.
Her quirk is similar to Mukuro, except for the fact that she can only make illusions. She has no access to his other abilities such as human possession, which is granted by the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
For her special move, only Cortina Nebbia is the ability that Mukuro didn’t use (I might remember this wrong, though). It’s also a defensive technique, which fits the pacifistic Chrome a lot more than genocidal Mukuro.
What I didn’t mention in Mukuro’s entry has something to do with the surname. I didn’t want to change the seating arrangement of 1-A too much (which is inevitable if I’m replacing 2 canon characters with 2 from KHR). Lambo, much to my relief, was a shoe-in for Kaminari. Chrome’s was the trickier part. I thought, “what surname would keep Chrome in Sato and Kouji’s column?”, then I remembered anagrams and from Rokudo/Dokuro -> Kurodo.
Chrome is currently Seat No. 10. She sits between Uraraka and Todoroki.
For reference of the seats (alphabetical order is vertical):
