Well the game crashed on me but I need to have food anyway so ✨theory time✨

I think Frey is originally from Athia. Obviously she just like Appeared at the holland tunnel no sign of parents abandoning her there and the tunnel is where she ended up BACK in Athia. Also her full name, Alfre, sounds to me like something that would fit in Athia more than in New York.

But furthermore, I think Frey is related to the Tantas. Maybe a kid of one of them (Cinta would be my most likely guess) maybe not but I feel like she was meant to be the “next generation” of Tantas so to speak. The immunity to the Break and the fact that she even has magic makes me think she was meant to be one of them. Maybe when the Tantas started becoming corrupted, she was sent through the torana so she could be protected from the corruption and eventually come back??

this is from something i don't know if i'll ever continue/write out in full. writing has been kind of like pulling teeth lately, so, have this snippet from an old ronance wandavision au that i never completed:

Robin doesn’t know why she’s trapped in an illusion. She just knows she is. Which is a very alarming thing to find oneself in, especially when you can hear the canned laughter of a studio audience, but you don’t know where it comes from. She fears, too, that she’s the only one in this “town” who’s aware of this. That is, until she spotted Nancy at the town center the other day, and they both shared a look of understanding. Nancy, it seemed, was much better at fitting into this whole illusion thing. Robin believes it’s because of Nancy’s upbringing, how Nancy can naturally fall into an act if she wants to. This illusion was pretty damn powerful too, because it’s when Robin spots Nancy that Barb Holland walks up to Nancy, like she hadn’t been dead for the last three years. It must be the first time Nancy’s seen Barb in this place too, because she pales, before effortlessly slipping her mask back on when Robin faintly hears Barb ask, “Nance? What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost or something.”

Part three of Jess Reads Fierce Valor it's here baby and it's getting pretty interesting and intense as they are getting to Belgium

Notes: Once again I highly recommend that (if you can of course) read the book and take your own conclusions, this is my view from my experience reading it

at this point they are at Holland and he is part of staff battalion? more precisely a S-2 intelligence officer (again robbed in the shows)

ah yes we were robbed again!!! do y'all know the Eindhoven scene were the girls kiss Dick? Well it happened TO SPEIRS and guess what? he was so shy he turned beet red and was frozen

ok time for some praise for the autors because huge kudos on how they tell the story, they mix historical details with some quotes from actual people who were involved not only with Speirs' story but also in general, giving us the readers a good outlook of what was happening during that time

he was so meant to be Easy's CO as he was shot in his ass (and hip) during a night patrol, again the showrunners robbed us!!!!!

Idk if I'm biased because I really love the portrail of Colonel Sink by Dale Dye but I really love his presence and how cared for the men, Speirs said he saw him as a father figure (okaaay) and Winters was all heart eyes too

btw I forgot to mention but Dale Dye foreword is simply amazing as he recalls he studied the guy to help out Matthew in his portraying on the show, so he recalls when he got to meet Speirs and his*check notes* FOURTH wife, or was it the fifth?

anyway back to business, he is recovering because he was pretty badly wounded and was sent back to Paris for the biggest war hospital in Garches. When he is back the morale is so low due to the events of Market Garden, he got transferred from the Staff Battalion do Dog Company again

now at Belgium they are heading to Bastogne and it starts to get really intense, idk if it because I know how hard it was but the atmosphere is so dense, there was no plan, they had no supplies, it feels like a trap, every corner has as surprise and to me it's pretty clear they [the Airborne] were sent there because there was no one else, pretty dark really

on a lighter note, on the foxholes line he made one of his friends take a photo of Don Malarkey because he couldn't stop laugh because Malarkey was using burlap bags as insulation to warm his feet??? weird guy

ROBBED!!! because there was an encounter with a dog!!! a german shepherd and Speirs was so afraid the dog would bark at him, which is pretty funny because he loved dogs and was at Dog Co.

other than that not much happens besides what we already know about how hostile Bastogne was, both mentally and physically everyone was on the edge

oh yes we have more Dick Winters downplaying some more gossip about Speirs while saying how Sparky was the "Cruelest man I ever met" you can sense how he KNEW what Speirs has done but its like "Hey watch your tongue he is MY war criminal friend"

okay so they are at Foy and the infamous incident with Dike happens and he was finally Easy's CO

btw it says he was a former running athlete, which makes sense if you think about it

anyway, his path with easy crossed before but specially with Dike there is this really funny anecdote of when Easy and Dog were at Bastogne and Dike moved Easy and was like "You are on my area" to which Speirs was like "No you dumbass YOU are in my area look at this map" *pterodactyl noises* Dike even tried to argue but he was wrong, Speirs gave him on of *his* looks and stayed in his rightful position while Easy had to move somewhere else. This is what Lipton tells us anyway

the amount of respect both Winters and Lipton had for the guy is insane!!!!! He gained so much respect after running Foy and even more respect by the way he was leading by example and how he cared for the men

“I’ll need some identification, please,” she demands, leaning over the counter, lowering her voice. “Give me any kind of card or literally anything, just as long as the CCTV sees you’re handing me something that resembles a card. I don’t care enough to actually look for legal shit.”

Eddie hands her his credit card with no cash on it, since he spent the last of it on an e-cig yesterday. She pretends to study it and hands it back to him. “Perfect, you’re sixty-nine years old, I can serve you,” she laughs, winking at him. “Kidding, of course. Now, what can I get you?”

“Six pickle shots, please,” Eddie says with a smile, standing up straight to appear more confident. She doesn’t need to know he’s not of-age, yet. To be honest, she looks like she’s eighteen herself. Nineteen at a push. She looks like she should be hanging out with Steve and his friends instead of being stuck behind that sticky bar all night. “I’ll take a lemon drop shot, thanks.”

“Pickle shots, huh? You know Hagan’s allergic to pickles, right? I’ll get you five pickle shots and two lemon drops, hon,” she pauses. “Tomothy!” She yells. “What shot?”

“Lemon drop!” Tommy shouts back. “Thanks, M! And stop calling me that!”

The girl smiles at Tommy, before turning back to Eddie. “Knew he would,” she says, and Eddie can barely hear it over the music blasting over the speakers. And he can’t help but stare directly into her sparkling green eyes as she smiles at him. But the moment is cut short as she turns around to gather everything she needs to make the shots.

She sets each plastic glass down on a tray on the countertop, making the shots with ease and such speed. Eddie’s mouth waters as he looks down at them. “$3.75 each so… I don’t have my calculator.” Where is Barbara Holland when you need her?

“You don’t know your times tables?” Eddie teases, and she playfully rolls her eyes.

“Nah, I was too busy reading magazines in the back of class to care about math. It should be around forty five dollars for seven shots.” Is she… Is she okay? She can’t be serious right now.

“The shots are $3.75, right? That shouldn’t add up to forty five dollars.”

“Okay, whatever, let’s just say twenty five dollars and be done here. I’m so sick of this shit. I just wanna lay in my bed and go to sleep, man.”

Eddie looks down at his wallet. Shit. Fifteen dollars. That’s not enough. “I only have fifteen, can I pay the rest back tomorrow? Please,” he almost begs. Get on your knees and kiss the tops of her shoes while you’re at it. Jesus. What’s gotten into me?

She flicks a strand of her short, white hair out of her face and pins him with a stern look. “I’m here to do my job and not to listen to your excuses. I don’t do “oh, Maddy, can I pay you tomorrow, pretty please, with a lemon drop on top?” Pay me now, or no shots. Choice is yours.”

Eddie “tough guy” Munson begins to shrink under her glare.

“Go easy on him, Mads,” Steve says as he approaches the bar. “Also, I saw you dropping this and didn’t want anyone stealing it,” he continues, handing Eddie a twenty dollar bill with a discreet wink.

“I—” Eddie starts, but Steve shushes him. Steve lifts the tray of shots and brings them over to the table before coming back over. “Go on, man. I’ll meet you over there. Just gonna talk to Maddy for a little while and I’ll pay with your cash.” It doesn’t even take a split second for Steve to start playing with her hair, twisting a strand around his finger to tuck it behind her ear.

She giggles, completely melting under his gaze like she’s a popsicle and he’s the sun. Who could ever melt under Steve Harrington’s gaze like that? Eddie. Eddie could.

Steve leans over the bar, closer to her, and she leans in just as much so their lips can touch. And they kiss. In front of Eddie. How dare they?

Jealousy bubbles inside him and he throws back his shot before anyone else can pick theirs up. He rolls his eyes, wanting to turn away from the scene, but his body freezes up. A murmur of annoyance circles the round table, but Eddie doesn’t care. This wouldn’t have happened if Steve didn’t kiss her.

“Okay, wait,” India pipes up, bringing Eddie’s attention away from the . “We should play a game!”

“What are we? Five years old?” Tommy says with an eye roll of his own. “Fine. Only ‘cause I’m bored.”

I made it on the winter vacation and worked on it for almost a week (I never even study for a week??) but anyway it was fun making it and its also fun to play!! And if i find people that ACTUALLY liked the game or just even played it maybe i’ll make a better one in sunmerbreak

3. which episode wrecks your emotions the most?

FUCK that is such a hard question cause like...a lot of them. but honestly, bastogne just fills me with so many different emotions?? there's something about the stark juxtposition of that episode compared to the relatively colorful episodes in holland - we go from these purple and yellow fields of thistle and yarrow to the stark monochrome of a freezing hell in basically no time, and you can feel the creeping dread slowly consume you, almost like a kind of hypothermia

i also think that there's something so visceral about focusing on the deteriorating health of the company - not just the physical health, but the mental toll as well. its easy to think about things like gun shots and mortar shells, but seeing the slow misery absolutely guts me. joe's trench foot, bill's uti, babe's cough... and just the overwhelming sense of grief. all the things that gene, our absolute goddamn beloved, feels so responsible and no matter what he does, there's just...nothing he can do.

but even with no supplies, no coat, no morphine, no goddamn scissors - he still tries. he still runs into the fire, takes the boots off a corpse, gives away the precious piece of chocolate. because he is a medic and thats what he does.

(bonus fun fact: the first time i watched band of brothers, i was in undergrad - where i was studying to be an emergency room doctor! my path ended up going a different direction, but that drive and desire to just...help, is something i've always resonated with. especially with gene. so maybe im biased a bit 😅)

FUCK anyways that was a lot longer than i meant it to be but!!! this episode!!!!! kills me!!!!!!!

LOL didn't even realize this was the next question when i mentioned it above!! but yeah, funny story, my ex introduced me to this show?? we were in college (this was about 7ish years ago?) and he knew i loved history - particularly war/political media - and thought i would enjoy it!! anyways, we binged it over a few days, and i super quickly became obsessed.

although, i remember him like? spoiling things for me while watching and it pissed me off?? like he told me immediately after the battle of the island that it was dick's last time in combat, before even sink promoting him and i was like ??? im sorry??? so yeah, 0 out of fucking 10 harry (not welsh, my beloved) 😠

aaaanyways my love for the show definitely lasted longer than my love for him, let's just say that 😅

okay okay so i feel like blithe is the easy answer, but honestly....

the fucking betrayal i felt when i found out that speirs' tertius (terseus?) bit just...doesnt make any fucking sense

i think i was trying to research it for my immortal soldier!alton more story (cause, uh, fun fact - speirs is definitely also an immortal soldier in that au) and i wanted to get the exact time period that tertius was alive right for some plotting

turns out, tertius DOESNT FUCKING EXIST

not only that, but like, little of that whole speech makes sense - for example, mentioning "carthaginian prisoners" implies one of the punic wars, but centurions weren't a thing until?? like 50 years after the end of the last punic war?? so he's just?? making shit up???

anyways it absolutely broke me cause i was so in love with the idea of speirs just being this big history nerd and classics fan and it turns out he's just that finance bro in the back of the lecture who says things so confidently everyone automatically believes them, even if they're just talking out of their ass 😭😭

but yeah i have: biggest brother, malarkey's book, and bill & babe's book. the bill & babe book has been my favorite so far, i've read the most of it and i LOVE their different perspectives and sense of personality through it!! so much!!

(bonus fun fact: i got the bill & babe book while visiting some friends over the holidays. we went into a bookstore and i didn't think i'd get anything, buuuuut i figured i'd take a look around anyways. i'd been looking for a copy of bill & babe's book, and hadn't found one at my fav bookstore back home. well, just in case, i found myself looking at the ww2 history section....and there it was. one, single, last copy of brothers in battle, best of friends.

1. Comfort characters are hard since I don’t really watch a lot of shows or movies, but I really liked how to train your dragon when I was a kid. I’m also currently trying to reread Pride and Prejudice but that’s more of a personal reread than an actual connection to the characters. Maybe a few fanfics I read in the past I feel very connected to but that’s not characters. This is a very hard question, I’m sorry that I really don’t have an answer. I’m one of those people who kinda yells at the TV being like “bruh what are you doing???” Actually I really liked Spiderman for a while a few years ago, but is that a comfort character or did I just like Tom Holland 🧐 maybe that’s why I like fanfics so much since I can’t really find any book characters I truly like or feel connected to. The world will never know
