I totally understand the phone-free thing. It sucks to go to a concert and see a bunch of phones being held up and recording, and I can only imagine what that looks like from stage.

However, it also sucks that there will be no more concert footage. I found Ghost through that and it makes fans feel connected.

I hope that they will start posting some footage on their social media. It’s just kinda sad to be cut off from seeing anything from the shows.

I feel like a lot of the fun of a bodyswap fic when you're working in a universe where everyone's kind of a furry of some flavor, is how goddamn alien everybody's bodies must be to each other. Like, I'm sure that it was weirdly jarring to wake up as a spider or a deer or a winged cat or a television, but they've had years and years to get used to it. But then you suddenly get swapped into the body of a prey animal, or into someone with a different hormonal system to you, and now you're relearning how to so much as have feelings again.

★I love how differently Mr. Jalapeno handled the sirens. In the original Odyssey, Odysseus had himself tired to the mast so he could listen to their song (which highlighted his hubris, that was much more evident in the original text) but having him use the beeswax and read their lips was extremely clever. ★

I see it now! I was literally reading and listening about their relationship in your podcast! i really thought that Statice and Nick DESPISE eachother. This AU is interesting, I love it vry vry much. Im not fond of it at first because I can't really Imagine Basil. Basil doing all of that stuff. because he's my favorite character(and I can't really see him being like that). But I eventually learnt to separate them and sees Nick as his own character. Like an actual oc(Still sees him a little bit as Basil if you understand what I mean)( can't wait when Sunny's other friend gets revealed or maybe the parents. *Maybe* they're not that important to the story but the CURIOSITY IS TOO STRONG AND SORRY FOR YAPPING HSJSKAK IT MUST BE TIRING TO ANSWER ANY OF MY QUESTIONS I WON'T DO THAT AGAIN)(Also excuse my grammar also, english is not my first language 😣)

Yeah Nick is... more or less an OC, he's got very little to do with Basil now. I refuse to cut of all ties to OMORI/Basil because it's very important to his origins and taking that from him would be taking out a lot of how I personally see him, but, well... He wasn't exactly based off of normal in-game Basil, either, so it makes sense that he's very different. He looks different, acts different, has a different family, age, personality, story, nationality even, different interests... He's like, 70% OC and 30% OMORI AU. Basil is also my favorite character, and that's not how I see him at all either.

I understand why you thought Statice and Nick hated each other — to be fair, there aren't a lot of people who don't hate Nick, lol. Being around him and knowing why he is the way he is makes it easier to love him, though.

daily lacuna snippet day 4

yes I’m a day late but I make the rules so whatever. this is the last scene of chapter 8, the fire. no context allowed. major cw for blood and gore.

He lifts his head from his knees as the door opens. There's no way to tell how long it's been—he didn't eat no matter how many times they pushed in the tray. The captain of the royal guard stands there, a grim expression on her face.

“Here we are again, O'Leyne,” she says, offering him a hand up. She hands him the keys to his shackles and he unlocks them from the Black Cell floor, then relocks them together in front of himself. He tosses the keys back to the captain, who chuckles. “Any other man would have run. Never fail to impress, do you?”

“I don't run.” He follows her through the dungeons, ignoring the whoops and jeers of the other prisoners. “Not from her.”

The captain shakes her head. “I will miss you, Keelan,” she says sadly. “You're a good man.”

Not that it did him any good in the end.

When the throne room doors swing open and Keelan is led forward, the court goes silent. Maura's spine is ramrod-straight in her throne, her eyes twin silver mirrors that betray nothing. They unlock his shackles and the guards don't have to push him; he kneels at the base of the steps and bows his head.

“I submit to you,” he says softly, his voice carrying through the silent room, “and whatever fate awaits me.”

The catch in her breath is tiny. Anyone else might have missed it, but it's there.

“Sir Keelan of Leyne,” she says, and he hears only the polished and ruthless queen that was born of the witch trials. “You stand accused of treason.”

The court gasps, whispers flying before Maura's voice silences them.

“How do you plead?”

Keelan raises his gaze to meet hers, unforgiving steel. “Innocent, my queen. I would never betray you.”

Her lip trembles. “You have proven yourself to be a liar, Sir Keelan. I cannot trust you.”

“I would never lie to you,” he says. Her jaw clenches.

“You would lie to me here and now,” she says, angry tears glistening in her eyes. “You are a traitor and a liar. I will not have you at my side.”

He holds her gaze and asks quietly, the memory of his sword resting against his throat, “Are you going to kill me?”

She looks away first, her eyes darting to a spot over his head, to the royal seal hidden in the stonework. “I have decided to show you mercy,” she says measuredly. She waves her hand and a scribe begins recording. “From this day forward, Sir Keelan of Leyne is banished from the castle grounds. If he is found on them after this day, he will be executed.”

Keelan's lungs are still taking in air, but it doesn't feel right. He will live, but never see her again.

“Now,” Maura says, cutting off the hesitant applause of the court. “There is the matter of your second crime.”

He inhales sharply but doesn't move. She is still staring above his head, at the stonework seal.

“For the crime of an unwanted gaze,” she says, and someone gasps loudly, the court breaking into whispers. Keelan has the odd sensation of falling while standing completely still. Maura has to pause to take a breath and Keelan's eyes dart down to her empty hands. “For this crime, payment is demanded.” Her gaze returns to him. “One of your eyes.”

There is no knight at her side to step forward and collect her payment, but Keelan doesn't wait to meet his replacement. He draws the knife from his belt and stands. The guards all draw their swords, a few even stepping forward. Maura's eyes widen by a hair.

Keelan lifts the knife to his face, the tip resting on his cheekbone. The court is deathly silent. A tear slips from his eye, a final tribute, but he never looks away from Maura. “Yes, my queen.”

He doesn't scream. Doesn't cry out. He's done it enough on Maura's orders; he knows how to make it quick, clean.

The pain is excruciating. None more so than the sight of Maura closing her eyes.

He sheathes the knife when he's done, blood and bits of gore dripping from his fingers. He can hear every little splat as it hits the ground, no other noise in the room contesting it. Maura opens her eyes slowly, her gaze fixed over his head again.

“Is there anything else, my queen?” he asks softly.

Her fingers touch the empty space on her left finger and a lone tear rolls down her cheek. “Get out of my sight.”

Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth?

Alternate Universe. I feel like it's already challenging to keep characters in character as they're presented in media. So not only would I have to come up with some engaging plot to drop some pre-existing characters in, but also try to keep the in character enough to make whoevers reading think "Yeah blank would totally be like this if they were in this type of universe". If they sway too far from their in-universe counterparts , its like might as well create your original story at that point (at least imo) 🤫.

Tell us an idea for a longfic you want to write in the future.

A longfic!??!! You're asking the impossible from me. It's already a challenge writing a decent 4k oneshot 🤣🤣 and at least when I think of longfics, I think multi-chapter fics and oh gosh, thinking of an overarching plot and spanning it for so many chapters 😳. No ideas in the near future, at least for me, but I think it would be so fun to try my hand at rewriting a season for a show or movie, which would probably actually help with those prints maybe now that I'm thinking about it. 🤔
