she's not someone who normally likes hanging around people so whether it's platonic or romantic, if she's voluntarily spending time with you, that's one way for her to say 'i love you'....but also she tends to be shy about admitting that so it's more like she'll make up some kind of excuse/reason she and the person of her affections sjdfklsjd be sure to read between the lines in those cases :D

but also since she's super observant, especially of the ones she cares about most, i feel like it really will vary from person to person bc she prefers to be unobtrusive as possible with her affections...so for example, with calum, she knows he's not necessarily the best at standing up for himself and while she knows he's trying to get better at that, when she knows he's overwhelmed and can't get back into balance, that's when she'll step in bc he needs someone in those cases to be the asshole 🥲 but i hope that makes sense?? bc if it's someone NOT like calum, she'll observe and then figure what would be most comforting and helpful to them emotionally...either that or she'll buy little gifts of their favorite foods/sleep.

are the tinies more comfy w being affectionate w each other (than their normal sized selves) or do they just simply not notice when they're cuddling?

a bit of both? the first time on the couch just kind of happened because they were tiny and tired I still need to finish the continuation/conclusion of that but there is like. negative chances of them not being aware they're cuddling in the same bed when one of them is not even where he's supposed to be.

I've already said I don't really care whether skk get romantic or not, but here we are all about the longing for each other's presence. The tinies feel the same things but more, so like everything else the denial is harder to deal with. Because of that, they skipped a few steps and now they do all of their usual stuff but also they cuddle.

Meanwhile the big guys are stuck in their 14+ layers of denial and pride, so the tinies doing their thing in front of them is both chipping at those layers and so embarrassing, I don't think they see how the other one is acting as much as their own little guy is betraying them will you stop that what will they think???

i probably Have analyzed it but i can't find it and its been so long so. will Happily ramble here about what i think its about <3 tbh this is the most beautiful ask i could ever get thank u <3

since you asked what i think tkaa is about, i'm not gonna do this in the normal way i analyze songs, which is a more line-by-line style to paint a picture of the whole story of the song, but instead just wanna like. ramble fksjdnf about it and what it means to me

i think the entire meaning of the song can be summed up by the line, "and in the end, i'd do it all again / i think you're my best friend", which really is to mean that i think that the overarching theme of the song is that life can be worth repeating and going through again for the people that you go through it with. connection and relationships give life incredible meaning, even with the bad things, even with sorrow and darkness, love makes it worth it- i'm yours, when it rains it pours, stay thirsty like before, as the song goes. when the storm comes, as the rain starts pouring and destruction closes in on you, wouldn't it be more comforting to have somebody beside you? facing the chaos with their hands in yours? wouldn't it be worth going through the storm again (stay thirsty like before) just to have those moments with the people you love?

and normally when i analyze songs, i very much try to stay away from analyzing them in a way that is very personal to pete/the members of the band just because... i don't wanna be presumptive! but, this song feels like one of the few that i Can't look at separate from pete and the band. no song feels more like a love letter to the band, and even to the fans, than the kids aren't alright. this band has known each other for over half their lives, they have been best friends and brothers for longer than they haven't been. every up and down each of them have gone through since they met each other, they have gone through together, they have seen their darkest sides and deepest depressions and through it all have Still chosen to love each other and stick together. as the rain has come and poured on them, as the storm that is life shipwrecked the band and sent them stranded in seemingly opposite directions, the love remained. the found each other again, because they were willing to do it all again for each other. their love and friendship is the purest embodiment of the song, and is the thesis of fall out boy as a band, to me. even through destruction and overbearing egos and inner turmoil each of them were experiencing that we are likely to never know the depths of- they Chose that their bonds were worth it, their bonds made life worth living and fighting for.

i feel that spirit, that life is worth fighting for if you have someone/something you love to Live for, is perfectly encapsulated by the lyrics, "and it's our time now if you want it to be / maul the world like the carnival bear set free"- if you want, life is ours for the taking regardless of the rest of the world. carnival bears were often mistreated and repressed, beaten down for acting in their nature, if one were set free they would finally truly be Free to be how they wish to be. in the context of the song, because we have each other, we can take the world on how We want, we can be who We want to be, Together. This is also something that i think is the thesis of fall out boy- the band of underdogs for underdogs, fighting for a space in the world to be safe and express themselves how they want to, and because they've found each other and an audience that Understands them, they can maul the world like the carnival bear set free. they are mauling the world, with every song released and show performed, they're taking on the world on their terms as a united band of best friends. and with their fans behind them, that spirit is embodied tenfold, making this song not only feel like a song for the band, about the band, but Also about the fans and for the fans.

before coming to any sweeping conclusion, i wanna talk about the bridge, because i feel like it is the last piece that does fully show what i think the song is about in totality. The bridge goes, "sometimes i just want to sit around and gaze at my shoes / and let your dirty sadness fill me up just like a balloon"- other than the carnival bear line, i believe this might be my favorite lyric of the song (which is saying a lot in a song of banger after banger line), as i feel the imagery it paints is just so heartaching and melancholy in such a beautiful way. there's a lot here in these lyrics, from how in the genius annotations pete annotated this line with a still of someone's shoes and a bunch of guitar pedals on the ground- something he would no doubt gaze down at when gazing down at his shoes while recording or performing, hammering home the meaning of this song being about/for the band and the fans. they share their sadness with each other, with the fans (to an extent), and the fans share their sadness back- music is always a reminder of the bond we all share in our heaviest moments, as is the guitar pedals being present when gazing down at your shoes in sorrow or guilt. another point i want to make is about "gaze at my shoes" perhaps being a play on words about "shoegaze" as a genre of music defined by guitar distortion and effects and a dreamy/ethereal feel- connecting the picture, the lyrics, the meaning of the band and fans always being there and music being a connection between us all, in a way. essentially, i feel this lyric is just a very melancholy, beautiful way to say sometimes its very easy to just wallow in your feelings, but having somebody with you to help take on your sadness, having these connections and these bonds, can make it lighter.

to try and find a way to summarize it, i really do just think the kids aren't alright is about love. in its purest form, it's about love. loving other people enough to live for them, finding the bonds and connections that give meaning to a meaningless existence, allowing yourself to feel pain in equal measure with pleasure. these are things that make life what it is, without these things life would be numb, meaningless nothingness. in the purest way, i believe the kids aren't alright is about what it is to be human and to love with reckless abandon, to be free to be and feel and love even if pain is present. Because pain doesn't diminish the love or light you can experience in life, and allowing yourself to believe anything less is to deny yourself a instrumental piece of the human experience.

as for headcanons, here's a "few" i that i tend to come back to a lot! my interpretations of them are influenced from both the source material and other's fanworks, so i've linked to them as i saw fit! hcs in no particular order under the cut because oops this got long (900 word bullet point list, mentions of reload content up to 1/1)

minato's hair is dyed blue (hair originally brown, you can see it in his roots!) and he has a beauty mark on under his left eye. i like mirror imagery and there's definitely a few arts i've rb'd that portray them this way :) (e.g. this one by feliichu and this one by marasschino)

as far as i'm concerned the bathhouse scene from the manga where ryoji's hair down = similar shape to minato? that is canon to me. this art from xierru is a fun depiction of hair down ryoji :D

ryoji is homeless. everyone say thank you foxmulder_whereartthou for this awesome fic it's why i have the headcanon! but like seriously. we have no idea where ryoji lives and i could believe this.

minato dying at the end of the game is sad to an outsider's POV BUT!!! ryomina gets to be together in death for the rest of their lives (this illustration from mafuwara is a gorgeous representation of them as nyx avatar + the seal)!

speaking of the seal, they are like telepathically communicating to me in the great seal together. (mymp3 had a comic wip with this. give it a looksie :D)

ryoji likes cuddling with minato because he's warm :) (something something orpheus has fire affinity, minato is warm by extension and ryoji is cold because he's death)

ryoji's camera roll is filled with pictures of minato! ryoji... loves life, to me. and i feel that photography and journaling are perfect ways of expressing gratitude and capturing the moments in life that are most important to you :3

my other favorite activity for these two is stargazing- i feel like it's something they could appreciate either in life or death (looking at the stars from the great seal...)! they do a bit of this in the fic eurydice's vow by crescentmoontea (P5R spoilers, takes place in third sem it's a very fun fic concept).

between ryoji and minato i feel like ryoji was the one who fell in love first- and it doesn't really click in place for minato that he loves ryoji until december hits (appriser reveal + ryoji transforming into thanatos). its about the realization that ryoji was with him for his whole life and that he gets him like no one else does.

ryoji is like a sad and wet puppy who is so scared minato won't like him back. he is so scared of being rejected by minato to me like. this boy straight up deflates after he does his "i know i said i wanted us to be friends, but... i actually want to be something more." / "what about you?" on 12/1 ???

AND SPEAKING of wet puppy ryoji. ryoji is like. every animal in the world to me. he's a bird. he's a cat. etc. and also ryoji knows every language in the world ever and uses it to express his love for minato. see this fic from superheroics to see what i mean.

both of them are lactose intolerant. "this isn't lactose, it's milk!" i definitely think ryoji would make himself sick eating ice cream and milk he doesn't know what lactose is. (i made a silly poll about this once and the tags were very entertaining.)

i see minato as transmasc or nonbinary depending on the day (schrodinger's headcanons babey they're simultaneously true and not true at the same time!!). either way he's not cis to me and ryoji is like. His Gender. anyway go read this fic by nail_gun for t4t ryomina :D !

ryomina are WEIRD GUYS TO ME!!! they are so strange and they understand each other better than anyone else because of the circumstances of their relationship!!! if you asked them to do the "i wonder what i taste like" meme i think they'd start biting each other (affectionate) tbh but that's just me.

after ryoji gives minato the music box in 12/31 on reload, minato listens to the music box every night in january. this boy has insomnia and also chronic illness to me (things that housing death does to you). but i think he finds comfort in the melody and memories he made with ryoji.

in general, i think it's fun to imagine minato taking ryoji to places and show him things he's interested in! i feel that ryoji takes a lot of interest in minato's life, this isn't really a hc because in reload, minato DOES give ryoji a tour of the school (11/9) and possibly port island (11/12). but ITS CUTE OK! (tangentially related fanwork: this series of doodles from vinnigami: 1, 2, and 3)

not a hc but minato's kindness is like the backbone of their relationship and i think we would not have the ryomina we know and love today if minato wasn't such a kind soul. oh minato.... we can learn so much from you... like ryoji did!

Learning to stay still.

The Doctor watched as the Tardis wheezed then dematerialised. 

That was new.

All of this was. 

He didn’t realise that he’d been simply staring into the space left behind… he’d been left behind too, in a way. He knew it wouldn’t have worked out well, him and the Doctor, neither of them were made to be companions, this version of him especially seemed to be unsuitable for the job of being the Doctor's Wrangler. 

He tried to hide his jump when he felt a nudge on his shoulder. He covered it up with a quick smile, just a small one, at Donna who was looking up at him in concern. 

“You alright?” 

She’d asked him that so many times, to this face, and the same face on his younger self. He didn’t lie to Donna, as a general rule, but he had never been good at admitting that he wasn’t okay, actually.

He had been working on it. 

“You know me.” 

He looked down at his bare feet, bi-generation had left him with only half of their clothes, and he couldn’t help but wonder if he’d come out as better considering he was now shoe-less and commando. 

“Yeah. I do.”

Her firm tone forced him to look back at his best friend. If he didn’t think she’d hit him he would have pointed out that when she looked at him like she was now, she reminded him a bit too much of Sylvia. 

He tilted his head to the side, lowering his voice so only Donna could hear him. “I guess I just… kind of expected him to have popped back by now. Not to stay,” he added quickly, “just… y’know.” 

He felt her hand take hold of his and squeeze, so he squeezed back. 

“I’m sure he’ll be back to visit, some day. I mean, I kept getting to see this old face, didn’t I?”

He glanced at Kate and Shirley, who were talking about something, he should probably help them, should probably figure out a way to fix the human race again. But he just couldn’t. He felt a lump in his throat, and squeezed Donna’s hand again. “You were one of the few… I should have… you were different.” 

There was silence and understanding between the two of them for a minute or two. 

“I think he was right, that version of you, you need to work on yourself first. I mean… you’re kind of a mess.”

The Doctor barked out a laugh, feeling some of the weight lift off of his shoulders. 

“Yeah, I guess…. I guess he’s right.” he thought back to the hug from his older self, he wished it had been longer, it had been stabilising, but now he was cast adrift. He didn’t know what came next. 

So he did what he always did. 

He put on a smile, and raised his voice, adding levity, and an easy smile.

“I should probably help Kate, and Shirley, y’know fix this mess your lot have got yourselves into this time.” 

Apparently Kate Lethbridge Stewart had been polite in pretending not to listen to his and Donna’s conversation, as she immediately turned to him, holding a screen in her hands, starting to hold it out to him. 

“We have-”

“No.” Donna’s voice silenced Kate immediately, The Doctor still didn’t know how she did that, he supposed he could do it too, but Donna managed to even shut himself up, and he’d always sucked at getting himself to shut up.

“I-”

“No,” Donna repeated, glaring at the Doctor now, even though it had been Shirley who had tried to interrupt that time. “You heard him, you heard you. You’re not doing anything other than coming home with me, eating whatever my mum’s cooked, and having a kip.”

He had the decency to look away from her, down at the floor again, as he tried to stretch the truth a little, “I’ll be okay, I’ll do that, but I’ll help here first.” He looked at Donna again, begging her to understand, as she always did, he needed to do something, to not feel useless. 

To prove he could still be The Doctor.

She just shook her head with a sad smile on her face, “Not this time Doctor.” She squeezed his upper arm, looking not at him now but at Kate. “I’ll be taking him home, you lot can handle this. He’s grounded, Doctor’s orders.” 

“Donna, “ he grumbled, “I can’t be grounded, I’m a billion years old and a Timelord with a Tardis, and a million more lives to live.”

She just rolled her eyes at him. 

He loved her but she couldn’t half annoy him sometimes, it was clear to her that she disagreed with him being ‘unable to be grounded’. Kate just nodded at Donna, not looking at him, whereas Shirley kind of smirked at him. She was trouble, good trouble, he’d have to take her on an adventure, if she would go. 

Donna was talking to Kate about something, The Doctor wasn’t paying attention, and she still had hold of him, as though he was about to jump in his box and run away… he supposed she might have a point with that one. 

“C’mon, martian,” she pulled him fondly as she started to walk away from the Tardis, “We’ll catch a lift off this lot, the Tardis will follow us, or go where she goes when she ditches you. We’ll get you well, and then we can go on some adventures.”

He looked back at the Tardis, as though she’d be able to intercede on his behalf, she didn’t. Traitor. So he followed after Donna, trusting her to find the way out of this place. 

“Oh,” Donna called over her shoulder at the leader at Unit, “and send me the contract, I’m sure you have all my details, 150K a year we said, right, and 6 weeks holiday?”

The Doctor smiled faintly, he didn’t know the details she’d worked out, but he was almost certain that she had just given herself a promotion. 

The first challenge he faced was a seatbelt, refusing to put it on until Donna had glared at him and told him he’d be walking soon, still without shoes. He’d clicked the belt on, grumbling under his breath. 

Donna chatted to the Unit soldier who was driving them, something about the time Atmos nearly filled the world with gas to prepare the world for the Sontaruns, about his trick with the tennis ball, and nearly sacrificing himself. The Doctor didn’t join in, he just zoned out, knowing he was safe to do so when Donna was with him. 

He had shuffled into Donna’s home, still shoeless, he should acquire some shoes soon, or at least some socks. He was quiet as Donna announced to her family that he’d be staying in their spare room for a while, until he was ‘better’ in her words. He kind of hoped one of them would protest, give him an excuse to stay in the Tardis, he wouldn’t go away, but he’d be able to keep his distance. 

But none of them bothered: Shaun seemed pretty easy going, genuinely nice, saying ‘Y’right mate?” with an easy smile. Sylvia looked apprehensive, just ever so slightly, but she was clearly trying, she knew now that him being there wouldn’t actively kill Donna, still she sent him a smile, before excusing herself to the kitchen to cook him a ‘proper meal’, he guessed he wasn’t sure the last time he had eaten. Rose, Donna’s Rose, smiled at him, before Donna quickly made it very very clear to her, and to the Doctor, that neither of them, or anyone at all, would be using the Tardis until she said so. 

He’d find a way around that, but maybe not right now, he wouldn’t push it yet. 

He was led upstairs to the spare room, sparsely decorated; with a bed, a wardrobe, and a bedside table. The walls were blue, not Tardis blue, but blue enough that he knew some part of Donna had remembered. 

He let himself drop onto the bed. 

“Doctor…. Are you okay?” 

Her voice was so soft, and he was so lost, he tried to swallow the lump in his throat again, but this time it didn’t work. “I don’t know…. I don’t know anything, what to do, who I am… What I am…. I just,” he let out a breath feeling tears in his eyes. Before he knew it she had her arms around him, sitting on the bed beside him, holding him close. 

He clung to her, his best friend, his lifeboat. 

“I don’t… I’m not okay, Donna.”

“I know,” she soothed him, no trace of the teasing they often had between them. “It’s going to be okay though, it’ll just take a while, and a lot of work. But you have me, you have a family Doctor, you’re not alone. You can breathe now, you can stop, you don’t need to worry about anything right now.” 

“I’m so tired,” he admitted, feeling each and every year of his life he’d lived since he had last had this old face. 

“You can tell me about it, when you’re ready, about it all.” 

“Is this what I do now?” he pulled away from her, but didn’t move from sitting beside her, their knees both touching, grounding him still, “Just sit here and cry.”

“Sure. That’s what I did, a lot, when I forgot you, I mean I didn’t know why obviously. It was hard, really hard, but I had my mum, and my grandad, they let me be sad, and then they helped me move on. They’re experts at this, and I’m the world expert in The Doctor, “ she smirked at that, “Between us all we can figure it out.”

He smiled back at her, it wasn’t a huge beaming energetic smile, but it was full of his heart. He didn’t know what he had done to deserve her, if he did deserve her of course, which right then he wasn’t sure he was. 

“First things first, you need some clothes, Shauns will be big on you, but considering you two split the clothes between you and he was wearing the pants….”

The Doctor groaned, throwing himself back to lie on the bed, covering his eyes with his hands, “Don’t. Why’d… I mean couldn’t the universe have just given us both clothes?”

Donna snorted, “She’s got a sense of humour, the universe.”

The Doctor couldn’t help but agree, uncovering his eyes as he watched Donna leave the room. 

He let his eyes fall shut, taking in a deep breath. 

Then another.

And another.

i do have one! however i use it very sparingly because 1) new people (especially groups) scare me & 2) brain's been fucking weird for a hot minute and i barely talk to people i'm already friends with let alone strangers

“You’re gonna choke.”

“Shut up, I’ve got this,” Usopp said. At least, that’s what it sounded like muffled by the 20-odd octopus weiners shoved in his mouth. Zoro was sitting beside him, chin resting in his palm and eating his breakfast at a much more leisurely pace. He was also sitting a reasonable distance away to avoid getting hit with any stray weiners that might slip out. On Usopp’s other side, Robin was doing the same.

Usopp followed up with something about beating Luffy and Zoro lazily dragged his gaze across the table. Their captain was also stuffing his mouth, but with whole pancakes rather than weiners. He was also glaring at Usopp between stuffing more food in his large rubbery cheeks.

Zoro rolled his eye. “You’re both gonna choke.”

Usopp smacked his shoulder and made a noise of disagreement. Zoro took a sip of his coffee and went back to his breakfast. 

A moment later, Usopp slapped him again.

“Yeah yeah, I get it, you’re the Great Usopp and you’ve never lost a food stuffing contest.” His lips quirked as a thought occurred to him. “Or should I call you God Usopp now?” Usopp made a noise of disagreement and slapped him again. Zoro laughed.

He watched Usopp carefully add another weiner, his hand as steady as ever, out of the corner of his eye before taking another sip. Usopp made a noise of success. Next to Luffy, Franky laughed at something or other—maybe Usopp himself with how ridiculous he looked—and slapped the table. The little picnic table shook and Usopp made a noise like he was being strangled. 

With his free hand, Zoro gave him a good slap on the back—maybe too good with the way Usopp nearly faceplanted into the table, but it got the job done. Usopp turned to hunch over the side and made some truly pitiable sounds as he spit out his food. 

As soon as Usopp’s coughing had started to subside, he said, “Don’t say it.”

Zoro smirked. “Say what?”

Usopp swatted his side before bending over again. He was practically lying on the bench, his head pressed against Robin’s thigh and forearms hanging over the seat. Robin gave him two pats on his hair before saying something vaguely morbid. Usopp shivered just as Franky laughed again.

Zoro picked up his mug again. Usopp looked comfy down there. He wanted to lay down and nap with him. Unfortuantely, the seat was far too small and Robin wouldn’t tolerate two people on her leg, so he settled for rubbing circles in Usopp’s calf.

A tiger mink, one of the ones that had brought their breakfast, was passing behind them. She had an empty tray in one hand. Zoro watched with a curious eye before stiffening at her other hand reaching for Usopp. 

In one swift movement, he was dangling the mink by her shirt collar and glaring into her startled eyes. The tray fell with a clatter.

“Don’t touch him.”

The surrounding chatter from his crew—and, he supposed, the other minks—died down. He could feel stares at the back of his head. Something—someone familiar tugged at the hem of his shirt.

He glared at the mink until she nodded frantically, then dropped her. She landed gracefully on her feet, though she immediately stumbled when backing away. Huh, he supposed those old sayings about cats had some merit.

“Zoro,” came a tired, irritated voice. There was a slap to the back of his head and he hissed out of reflex. The hand returned, running through his hair lightly and he had to fight back a content sigh. Then his head was jerked down into a bow.

“Amazing,” Brook said quietly. “You’d think he wouldn’t fall for that by now.”

Zoro made a mental note to kill Brook later.

“I am very deeply sorry for this idiot,” Usopp started, the routine speech making Zoro grind his teeth. He half paid attention as Usopp said the same shtick as usual, a distant feeling of something wet on his hand.

“Ah,” he said, staring at the little white splinters in his hand. He forgot about the coffee.

“Don’t interrupt—Zoro.” Somehow Usopp’s voice was more irritated. He turned back to the tiger mink—who was rather calm for someone Zoro had just threatened—and wrapped up the apology speech before excusing himself to look at Zoro’s hand. 

By the end of it, the tiger mink looked bewildered by whatever Usopp had made up about him and grabbed their tray before leaving. Their crewmates went back to their breakfast, talking as if nothing had happened. Usopp tugged Zoro back down to his seat and Zoro kept his eye averted. 

Usopp sighed, digging around in his bag. “You’re something else, you know that?”

“It’s not that bad,” he said.

“I’m not talking about your hand.”

Zoro didn’t say anything for a long moment. Usopp pulled out a pair of tweezers and held his hand gently. The other minks and pirates started talking again, although quieter than their crewmates. Zoro stubbornly waited until Usopp pulled the last splinter. 

“...I’m not overprotective,” he eventually grumbled. “I’m keeping an eye out.”

“Uh huh.” He frowned harder. “Aww c’mon don’t pout.” His frowned eased and loosened as Usopp leaned forward to peck him on the lips. “I appreciate you looking out for me, okay? Just please learn to lighten up.”

His frown returned. “You shouldn’t be so trusting.”

Usopp huffed. “You should be more trusting.”

He narrowed his eye. “Whiskey Peak.”

Usopp threw his head back with a groan. “That was one time! And the others fell for it too!”

“Uh huh,” Zoro said, mimicking Usopp’s voice.

Usopp swatted him with a mumbled, “Shut up.” His brows were furrowed, a harsh frown on his face as he stared intently at the small cuts on Zoro’s hand.

Zoro slid his fingers into Usopp’s, intertwining their hands. He tugged them up to his lips and pressed a kiss to Usopp’s wrist, to his pulse point. His gaze stayed on Usopp, steady and imploring.

Usopp sighed, the sound resigned. Fond. “I know,” he said softly, a smile curling his lips. “I love you too.”
