"LUNAR LANDING - ART CONCEPT
Artist's concept depicting the firing of the Apollo 10 Lunar Module descent engine for 42 seconds to propel 'Snoopy' back into a higher lunar orbit for rendezvous and docking with the Command and Service Modules. Earlier, the LM descent engine will be fired for 27 seconds to take astronauts Thomas P. Stafford, Apollo 10 commander; and Eugene A. Cernan, lunar module pilot, to within 10 miles of the moon's surface. Astronauts John W. Young, command module pilot, will remain in the Command Module, 'Charlie Brown,' in lunar orbit. Developed by TRW's Systems Group at Redondo Beach, California, under Grumman subcontract, the throttleable descent engine will be used to soft land the LM on the lunar surface during Apollo 11 and subsequent Apollo missions."

“I am not in the habit of looking back. When I do I am somewhat amazed that the only child of a dentist and a school teacher from a small town in Oklahoma was able to attend the Naval Academy, serve in the Air Force and fly in space four times.
Through it all… I kept my eyes on the sky. I still do and I hope I always will.” Tom Stafford.

How Charles M. Schulz created Charlie Brown and Snoopy | BBC Global
19 December 2024
Few characters have the generational staying power of Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
The cartoon’s creator, Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000), personally drew every Peanuts strip from 1950 until his passing in February 2000.
The strip - syndicated in over 2,600 newspapers - inspired films, music and countless merchandise.
NASA even named two Apollo 10 lunar modules after Charlie Brown and Snoopy in 1969.
While Charlie Brown may have been the eternal failure, the universal feelings that Schulz channelled helped make Peanuts a global success.

This is a For All Mankind fanvid I just finished making about Gordo's experiences at Jamestown. "Eye in the Sky" by The Alan Parsons Project is the song that Gordo is singing at The Outpost in episode 2x02 "The Bleeding Edge." I found this more haunting version by Absolute5 and, for months, I have been wanting to make a FAM fan video using this cover. I finally got around to it! Enjoy! 👨🚀🚀🌖

"APOLLO SEPARATION - ART CONCEPTS
A North American Rockwell Corporation artist's concept depicting the Apollo 10 Lunar Module descending to 50,000 feet for a close look at a lunar landing site. The Command and Service Modules remain in lunar orbit. The landing area is Site 2 on the east central part of the moon in southwestern Sea of Tranquility (Mare Tranquillitatis). The site is about 62 miles east of the rim of the crater Sabine and 118 miles west-southwest of the crater Maskelyne. Apollo 11 is scheduled to be the first lunar landing mission."

UFO Apollo 10 -valokuvassa
UFO Apollo 10 -valokuvassa
Lähdevalokuva: http://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/DatabaseImages/ISD/highres/AS10/AS10-35-5264.JPG
Kuvattu kiertoradalla Maapallon ympäri Apollo 10 -tehtävän aikaan. Tämä UFO näyttää olevan tosi lähellä Apollon moduulia. Valokuva on otettu heinäkuussa 1969 ja siinä näkyy kiinteä alus korkealla kiertoradalla.
Alla on lähikuva. Sisällä näkyy avaruusolento, sen rinta ja kädet.
Huomaa aluksen keskiosan ulkonema, se on samanlainen kuin mitä monissa UFO-raporteissa. Tekoäly on ufologian uusin villitys. Huomasitko myös aluksen sisällä olevan matkustajan, joka näkyy UFOn mustan ohjaamon sisällä?

Apollo 10 Launches Into History on May 18, 1969: Charlie Brown and Snoopy head into space.

—
Apollo 10 (18-26 May 1969) was the fourth human spaceflight in the United States' Apollo program and the second to orbit the Moon.
NASA, the mission's operator, described it as a "dress rehearsal" for the first Moon landing (Apollo 11, two months later).
It was designated an "F" mission, intended to test all spacecraft components and procedures short of actual descent and landing.
