I've made this little fic as my written contribution to the Good Omens Spooky Bang! I'd like to give a big thanks to my artist partner @justzrero for the two wonderful companion pieces made with the fic! Their art captured the vibes perfectly and i think the colors are phenomenal! Check out their account for their other art!
This story is about Aziraphale and Crowley going to the apple orchard, and Aziraphale has to deal with spooky shenanigans while crowley is non the wiser. Aziraphale wouldnt want to ruin their day after all...
Please check out all the other contributions to the Spooky bang collection as well!

16th January
St Sigebert’s Day/ Old Twelfth Night
Tumblr media
Source: UCANR website
Today is St Sigebert’s Day. Sigebert was another Anglo-Saxon king who renounced his throne in favour of the monastic life. However, when the fearsome pagan king of Mercia, Penda, attacked Sigebert’s former realm of East Anglia, his ex-subjects persuaded him to come out of retirement in order to save them from the pagan’s wrath. Remaining true to his vows, Sigebert agreed to resume his throne, but insisted he be armed with a wooden sword and so avoid taking a human life in battle. Unfortunately for the pacific Sigebert and his East Anglians, Penda’s Mercians had no such qualms and destroyed his army, conferring immediate martyrdom on the holy king, as well as sainthood.
Today is also Old Twelfth Night, being the last night of Christmas according to the old calendar. For that reason apple wassailing continued on the night of the 16th for over 200 years after the date of Epiphany Eve moved to 5th January. On this night men would gather by firelight in orchards to toast the apple trees with cider and to wish the spirits of the trees a Happy New Year and exhort them to allow their trees a bountiful late summer harvest. A typical verse sung by the wassailers was:
Old Apple Tree we wassail thee and hope that thou wilt bear,
For Lord doth know where we shall be till apples come another year.
Although the Old Twelfth Night wassailing tradition died out in the early twentieth century, it was revived in the 1980s and enthusiastic wassailing now takes place in the orchards of Much Marcle near Ledbury in Hereford; Norton Fitzwarren outside Taunton in Somerset and Carhampton, also in Somerset. Amazingly, the revivals were sponsored and funded by cider makers Westons, and Taunton Cider.

This won't affect most of you, but it's so very, VERY important to me.
There's an apple orchard in Indiana that is a staple of my childhood. It's been there for a very long time. It's family owned and has wonderful activities for families to do. It's got apples and pumpkins and corn and potatoes and fudge and all sorts of delicious fresh farm foods.
They get a lot of out of state visitors and and the locals frequently send their out of state relatives fresh produce throughout the year. I visited it in second grade as a field trip to pick apples and sell them to the students at school, because my teacher wanted us to learn how bank loans worked. I visited this place with my fiance when we first started dating, my best friend has worked here for 9 years now. It's a beloved place for all the locals and plenty who are not locals, too.
There is a developer that is trying to "progress" the land by developing the land next to the farm. This will damage the farm in many ways. The construction itself can ruin the aesthetics and the quiet peace of the orchard, and prevent people from bringing their small children. The buildings can prevent sunlight and natural water flow. Depending on what they're wanting to build there, it could also stop the whole "family fun vibe" that the farm has always made its mission statement. If this construction is allowed to go through, it could very well kill the orchard and the family business in just a few short years.
I am not against progress or developing land, but I adore this orchard from the bottom of my heart, and I would love to have your help saving it.
If you want to help us save this family farm, please sign the petition! Tell your friends! We want to preserve our childhood for our future children. We want this farm to last forever. We want the jobs to keep. We want keep eating the fresh food.
Please, please, please.
And thank you, from the bottom of my heart. From the bottom of every Hoosier heart. We implore you. Save Tuttles!
