Hello, do you perhaps know of any fics set on the Titanic?
There are quite a number of Titanic fics, including several human AUs, but I've focused on through the ages fics here...
RMS Titanic by Bloodrose84 (T)
Aziraphale really felt like he was part of a major piece of history – he loved it when that happened. All history was wonderful, of course, but he did enjoy being able to say to himself "I was there," when people were still talking about a thing decades or centuries after it had happened. ******** Aziraphale and Crowley take a trip on the ill-fated maiden voyage of the Unsinkable Ship. Needless to say, it doesn't go as either one had planned.
Nearer to Thee by canolacrush (T)
On April 11, 1912, the RMS Carpathia sets sail from New York City, bound for Gibraltar and other Mediterranean ports. On board are 743 passengers, about 240 crew members, and one stowaway demon. On the night of April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic, carrying approximately 1,317 passengers, 885 crew members, and one trouble magnet of an angel, hits an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean. Cue history’s most daring, famous, and perilous nautical rescue in maritime history.
The Titanic: Feelings and Folly by Ecchima (T)
The date is April 10th 1912. The Titanic is leaving Southampton with a hedonistic angel on board and is headed to Cherbourg where a demon - who is definitely not nice - is waiting to embark as well. What could go wrong? This is the story of the only voyage of the RMS Titanic. Of the people on board, of the needlessly luxurious amenities and the beautiful silliness that happened before it all went down.
Ocean of Secrets (illustrated) by magicbubblepipe (E)
When Crowley uncovers a plot to sink a so-called unsinkable ship, he decides to take credit for it and collect a commendation from the safety of his London flat. That is, until he spots a certain flaxen haired angel with a weakness for expensive creature comforts boarding the ship. He's forced to take action, lest his beloved be horribly discorporated. TL;DR Crowley and Aziraphale were on the Titanic.
Apsides by Theluminousfisheffect (T)
Aziraphale knows what fate awaits all those onboard the Titanic before it even leaves the port. Crowley has no idea and Aziraphale would very much like to keep it that way.
Sinking Into the Sea by pocketknifeknight (T)
In 1912, Aziraphale's worries include his bookshop, his printing friend's sick wife, and how he's going to make his way to the first class dining room on the Titanic for an unforgettable meal. When his friend, a book printer, asks Aziraphale to go collect master plates from a publisher in America, he also offers Aziraphale his ticket aboard the Titanic. Aziraphale can't resist. The Head Office has nothing to say, so Aziraphale decides he's earned himself a vacation. Unfortunately, a demon, not the one he wants to see, is aboard causing trouble on orders from Hell. Possibly, a demon, the one he is desperate (but unwilling to admit he wants) to see, is also aboard, trying to find a way to save Aziraphale without anyone being the wiser.
What A Dangerous Night (to fall in love) by ahyperactivehero (T)
Both Crowley and Aziraphale are assigned a mission on board the luxury cruise ship, RMS Titanic. It goes about as well as expected. XXX "What're you gonna do?" a man from the group shouted. "Shoot us?!" The group seemed to intensify after that. There was something in the air now and it was a hell of a lot more dangerous than anything Crowley could have ever hoped to create. It was a group of scared humans. He stepped forward, moving so that he was completely in front of Aziraphale and put his hands on the bars. It would take a second, just a quick second to magic- Fire seemed to shoot through his side. Screams rang out around him as he let go of the bars and fell backwards.
Icebergs and Angels (Spicer Relationship Version) by The_Bentley (M)
It's 1912 and Aziraphale, not wanting to be lonely during his mission aboard Titanic, invites Crowley along for a cruise. But he boards the ship before knowing exactly what his mission is. When he learns Heaven wants to teach humanity a lesson for the claim even God couldn't sink it, it could damage his relationship with Crowley, who has his own views on Heaven's need to punish innocents. Can he repair things with Crowley and can they work together to save as many lives as possible? Please note: There are two versions of this, one rated Mature (for sexy times) and one rated Teen (friendship/ace-aro relationship, depending on how you choose to interpret it). The only difference is the level of relationship that adds some extra material in the M version. Otherwise, they're identical. This is the relationship version. My friend, whom I wrote this for, doesn't ship these two, but I do, which is why there are two versions. If you're looking for the one that could be either a friendship or ace-aro relationship, go here
A Diamond Sky Above Titanic by SeaBlueEyes (E)
The year is 1912, and one angel and one demon's lives are about to change forever as they embark on the fateful maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic - and a relationship utterly forbidden by both Heaven and Hell. Rating and warnings for Chapter 13, the rest being far more mild. Some slight amendments to the 2011 FanFiction version, nothing major. Once again, I apologise to the fandom for reading a comedy and writing a tragedy.

Ask Me No More
Artist: Lawrence Alma-Tadema (British, 1836–1912)
Date: 1906
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Property of a European collector
Ask Me No More
'Ask me no more: thy fate and mine are seal'd: I strove against the stream and all in vain: Let the great river take me to the main: No more, dear love, for at a touch I yield.' Alfred, Lord Tennyson, The Princess.
'Ask me no more', which takes its title from a poem by the Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson, is a quintessential Alma-Tadema subject. In fact he treated it so often that it is probably the one with which he is most closely associated: a pair of lovers seated on a marble bench overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The sun always shines in these pictures, although it never seems oppressively hot; and the lovers are invariably shown in a state of emotional anticipation rather than succumbing to passion itself. As Vern Swanson, the leading authority on Alma-Tadema, states in his catalogue raisonné of the artist's paintings, love-making is shown not 'at the point of climax, but rather earlier, when the tension is mounting.
A trademark feature of the painting is the marble bench. Alma-Tadema had made a specialty of painting marble since the late 1850s, and it had become one of his most celebrated accomplishments, endlessly commented on in reviews and even joked about in Punch. Dutch artists had always excelled at still-life, and Alma-Tadema's marble-painting is in this tradition. The same skill emerges in the way he handles flowers, as 'Ask me no more' also demonstrates. But the exquisitely rendered bunch of anemones does more than testify to the painter's virtuoso technique. Evidently a tribute from the youth to his sweetheart, it adds a touch of poignancy to the narrative. It is also a vital compositional element, placing an accent precisely where it is needed, and it provides a focal point for the colour scheme, a subtle interplay of blues, mauves and creams balanced against the pale aquamarine of the girl's dress.
This chromatic harmony is enhanced by the pearly light that pervades the scene, coming from behind the figures to create a contre-jour effect and cast delicate shadows onto the marble pavement. In 1884 Alma-Tadema had taken over 17 Grove End Road, St John's Wood, a house previously occupied by the French artist James Tissot who had fled back to Paris on the death of his muse and mistress, Kathleen Newton. He proceeded to remodel it extensively, furnishing it in a variety of exotic styles and generally turning it into one of the sights of London. Among its many notable features was the apsidal end of the artist's studio, which he had lined with aluminum to create the diffused and silvery light so typical of his later works. 'Ask me no more' is a classic example.
The picture is almost the last in which Alma-Tadema painted his ever-popular theme of a young couple suffering the palpitations of romance, although a watercolour version, entitled Youth, followed in 1908. 'Ask me no more' was the only picture he showed at the R.A. in 1906. He had seldom contributed more than three examples, and one became more or less the norm during his final years.

An earthquake in Croatia led to a chain of events that helped archaeologists recently discover an ancient Roman theater, officials say.
Croatia’s Ministry of Culture and Media announced the find – which was uncovered in the city of Sisak – in a press release in April.
The Roman theater, also known as an odeon, was found during the renovation of Sisak's town hall on a street called – unsurprisingly – Roman Street.
The orchestra of the theater was found in the basement of the building.
Pictures of the discovery show fragments of the ancient building visible under a glass floor. The stones also appear to take the semicircular shape of an orchestra.
The ministry described the structure as apsidal, meaning it resembles a semicircular or polygonal recess, consisting of "three parallel rows of stone blocks, with an internal diameter of twenty meters."
LONG-LOST CAPITAL OF ANCIENT CIVILIZATION MAY HAVE FINALLY BEEN UNCOVERED, ARCHAEOLOGISTS SAY: 'UNIQUE FIND'
"In later periods, a monumental building with buttresses was constructed on top of this structure, requiring additional research in the courtyard of the town hall for interpretation," said the statement, which was translated from Croatian to English.
The town hall, built in 1914, was "significantly damaged" during the 2020 earthquakes in Croatia – and the renovation of the building led archaeologists to the Roman orchestra.
"The renovation restored its original coloring, the design of the main entrance carpentry, and the original appearance of the main gable," the statement added.
"All preserved decorative elements were restored, and the original paving was presented in front of the entrance to the town hall itself."
Officials commended the discovery, calling it an "exceptionally valuable find."
"This … provides new insight into the size of the ancient city and further complements the interpretation of the urbanism of ancient Sisak," the ministry said.
"It was presented in the town hall, which has been completely renovated after the earthquake with funds provided by the Ministry of Culture and Media."
The discovery marks one of many ancient Roman finds in Europe in recent weeks.
In Germany, archaeologists recently uncovered a massive number of horse skeletons at a military site near Stuttgart.
And in March, Italian archaeologists found ancient Roman tombs during the excavation of a necropolis, including one bearing the epitaph of a gladiator.

an angry rant about ksp
Disclaimer. KSP is, overall, a very good game. But it can be frustrating. This is not a negative review, it's me getting some frustrations off my chest.
Has anyone else ever noticed that Kerbal Space Program had sorta got worse over time? Like, it's also gotten better, new features were added, bugs were fixed, but I feel like basic parts of the game experience that used to be smooth and functional have been left to rot. New features or small changes made that might have had some useful advantages, but which make the experience just worse.
Here's three anecdotes about that.
Explosions. Most KSP players don't even remember a time when this was true, but did you know that if you crashed a rocket in KSP, it didn't always cause the game to stutter or freeze? If you go back and play old pre-alpha versions like 0.13.3 which are still available, or if you happen to have a copy of the alpha versions like 0.18 or 0.20, you would find that like, yeah, these are worse versions and are missing a lot of features, but exploding rockets, like, just works.
And like it or not, but exploding rockets is a core part of KSP's gameplay. It's half of how it sells itself. Probably a slim majority of players will build absurd designs, watch them crash, and never reach the Mun, and they'll have a lot of fun with it anyway.
But. Like. When you do crash. You. have. to watch. it. frame by frame. as it. writes blast awesomeness to the log. or recalculates the vessel tree. or. whatever it's doing. I don't know the technical side of things when it comes to parts and vessels, I'm a planet girlie. Either way, it saps all the joy you could get out of watching the drama of a rocket failure. It's just a slog. I looked up this issue and it seems the community consensus is it's inherent and unfixable. But like. It's not in older versions!
I'm sure whatever change they made that causes that bug was like, good and important or whatever. But that they don't seem to have accounted for how much worse it makes this key part of the game.
Pinned Orbits. The original design philosophy behind the map view was to not let the view get unnecessarily cluttered up, so as to enhance readability and minimize the slope of the learning curve. To see the apoapsis or periapsis would require mousing over them. But eventually players and Squad realized that this was slightly tedious, and they implemented the ability to pin the apoapsis or periapsis marker to see their numerical values onscreen. Genuinely good feature, very useful, however.
The button to pin the orbit is right click. The right click button is also the control used for changing a maneuver node between velocity mode and delete/orbit increment mode. And most maneuvers will be done right at periapsis or apoapsis, and will end with the maneuver having an apsis near it. So if you try to right click a maneuver node. Good luck, because the game would rather display the numerical values of the apsides instead. It's fine. It can be worked around. But what was supposed to be a quality of life improvement became a quality of life detriment.
Orbit Encounter Prediction. When you make maneuvers in current versions of KSP, or even burn manually, you'll sometimes run into flickering trajectories, encounters that the game's not sure if you have or not. Small changes to your orbit can completely get rid of the encounter. Eventually you realize the encounter isn't even on this orbit, it may be tens or hundreds of days into the future. This is especially common in the Jool system.
It is probably the worst bug on this list, because it takes an intuitive and useful manuever prediction system that like, sets the standard for orbital mechanics games, and it makes it messy and clunky and unintuitive and difficult. When planning encounters you have to check if the displayed encounter will actually happen on this orbit or not. Sometimes it will decide not to show an encounter that you definitely do have, which can lead to catastrophe. Sometimes it would rather show you a far future encounter than let you see your close approaches for this orbit.
And it didn't used to do this! I tracked the bug down to 1.8.0, which was a change to the unity version. And the bug was never fixed in the remaining few years of KSP development. Saps all the fun out of the Jool system and lots of complex planet mod systems.
But KSP 1.12.5 has a ton of features and bugfixes that 1.7.3 doesn't have, and all the best mods are on 1.12.5. so i have to put up with it.

one unfortunate thing I havent decided for Apsides yet is whether magical attacks are:
1) a list of spells like SoV/3H.
2) different Orbs you buy... like tomes in most other FEs
Orbs on their own are currently 1-2 ranged bash weapons. But if i chose option 2, almost anything beyond Basic Orb would likely be a low durability "spell". Like a fire orb being 5 uses or something.
But in the case of option 1, idk if orbs even need to BE a weapon anymore? Like the mages could hold other stuff...
Even if I changed the weapon, I'd still want it to be a bash type. Cause every type (slash, pierce, bash) currently has 3 weapons they get an advantage over. wahhh idk

Santa Maria Goretti Church
Mario Cucinella Architects complete the solitary, serene, and monolithic Santa Maria Goretti Church
Designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, the recently completed Santa Maria Goretti Church is situated in the Calabrian hill town of Mormanno, Italy. The solitary, serene, and monolithic appearance of the building is inspired by natural forms as well as the austere and beautiful apsidal Calabrian churches constructed by monks escaping persecution from the eastern reaches of the former Roman Empire. This new parish is dedicated to Saint Maria Goretti (1890-1902) – the Catholic Church’s youngest saint.
