Day 19: Inspiration! Wanted to do someone else or something else, but had really bad brain disease and wanted to bang out a super easy pic.
While the Shibuya gang take more cues from other places of inspiration, Lucero's jinx form was visually inspired by Chainsaw Man before I got into the series, so here's a Chainsaw Shark.
Bonus Oren and Pochita. He's not CSM inspired, I just wanted to draw a little guy and a danger puppy for fun :)

*walks past your room*
blah blah blah--what if Poseidon subconsciously changed its form to be more feminine when enraged because the Sea's Rage is seen as a Feminine Being by fishermen and those dealing with ships--blah, blah, blah--what if Demeter subconsciously changed her form to be more masculine & bulky-muscular when enraged because that is what the stereotype of being powerful is and she doesn't give a fucking damn at the moment of promoting 'feminism' because she just wants to kill this ignorant man and who the fuck cares about feminism when there are ignorant bigots around. If it gets the job done, it gets the job done--blah, blah, blah
*keeps walking past your room & into the distance*
(Middle children & their weird-ass concepts of gender *shakes head* can't bring them anywhere
[But like. Seriously. I doubt Demeter would care about her gender or appearance. She's got enough stuff on her plate without eradicating the patriarchy, like making sure the mortals she likes don't end up killing themselves in their own stupidity and that Desponia eats her vegetables instead of feeding them to Arion. Besides, she's got Hera and Persephone to do all that stuff. And Hestia, and Artemis, and Aphrodite, and Athena, and all the other goddesses of the pantheon. Food doesn't have a gender, and neither does shelter or a place to come home to. As long as it gets the job done, her form will be however it may be.
And Poseidon... Poseidon's Poseidon. We all know that dude's a little fruity, inside and out /hj])
I love gender fucked big six theory's so much.
Poseidon having quality's that are seen as both male and female is such a cool concept in so many ways. And I feel like it would be the same for Amphtrite.
They are girlboss x malewife
And with Demeter I Hc her hard as gender fluid. She kinda just does and looks however she wants regardless of the fact that she is a goddess and that other gods think she should act more like a woman.... I'm sure.
I have a lot more theory's but I can't put them into words on a page

V: Are Those Feelings? Get Them Away From Me!
Before leaving, Percy pulls Leo and Ara aside and tells them Hazel's story. Partly so they understand why she acts weird sometimes, partly so Ara doesn't go around saying mean stuff about Nico.
Ara isn't surprised to hear there is another big-three kid around, she's just angry that Nico never told them, not even Lily, about Camp Jupiter.
She keeps wondering if she pressed Nico and Lily to fit in so much that they gave up and now they're just pretending to be okay to get her off their backs.
These thoughts do nothing to brighten her mood.
Tumblr media
Last week Lily got into a fight with an Ares kid and busted his lip. I wasn't there to stop her because I was with Beckendorf, where I made a fan catch fire. Whoops, I guess. We're about to drive Michael crazy and cause him early baldness.
"For the thousandth time, Lily Saggio," our friend scolds her while organizing the supplies in the infirmary. "You cannot fight the entire Ares cabin. You should know better than to become their enemy."
"It's not her fault," I defend her, though most of my attention is on the legos I'm playing with.
"And you're no better!" He snaps immediately. "You and Tyson are a dangerous combination. He tries anything you want and you turn into a mad scientist with the free reign he gives you, your inventions always get out of control."
"So we are the ideal couple," I grin. "Because Tyson is immune to fire."
"That doesn't mean you can't die in one," Mike raises a brow. "Look, beasts, I've thought about it, and it's about time you calm down."
"What do you mean by that?" Lily stops the fidgeting with her stygian dagger.
"From now on you have to limit your problems to one every two weeks. I can't be looking after you all the time."
Lily and I share a look. I turn to our friend. "Don't you prefer a massage?"
Mike kicks us out of the cabin and Lily scoffs, putting her daggers away and taking half of my legos. "I don't know why you like him, he's a grumpy little jerk."
"Hush!" I look around frantically. I told her about my crush on Mike in secrecy but sometimes she brings it up in public like it's nothing, it freaks me out. "I don't know either, alright? I just do."
As the day goes on, I'm still thinking about Mike's request. He's right, we abuse the fact that he's always there to fix our problems.
"Hey," I sit next to him during the campfire. "What you asked this afternoon... I'll do it."
He looks at me, raising his eyebrows as if he can't believe what he's listening. "Really?
"It's time I learned manners, I think," I shrug, fixing my eyes on my feet. "The fires are not that fun anyway."
Mike hugs me and laughs, his entire body glows a pretty leaf-green color. Michael isn't a fan of physical affection, but when he does it, it means that he's really happy.
"Thank you, bug."
"No problem," I smile at him.
I don't know what to call Mike nowadays, my best friend, protector, or some sort of platonic crush. All I know is there's nothing in the world that I wouldn't do to keep him happy. I think he feels the same way.
Tumblr media
Leo cheers up during the horse ride, which is surprising cause he's not a huge fan of living creatures, except Pollo. Maybe he's a fan of dangerous, crazy pets. He keeps touching the horse's side, eyes shiny as he pays close attention to his movements.
Ara's heart flutters, which she dislikes, cause she wants to stay grumpy for a little longer. When they dismount Arion, he goes wild, showing off his power.
"Show-off," Ara mumbles, stretching as she moves out of Arion's way.
"He needs to eat," Hazel informs them. "He likes gold, but—"
"Gold?" Leo makes a face.
"He'll settle for grass. Go on, Arion. Thanks for the ride. I'll call you."
The horse goes away and Ara scowls at the dust he leaves behind, why couldn't she be born a horse? Then she wouldn't have complicated thoughts.
"Well..." Leo kneels. "One problem solved, anyway. This is lime."
"The whole beach?" Hazel asks in surprise.
"Yeah. See? The granules are perfectly round. It's not really sand. It's calcium carbonate."
Leo gathers a bunch of it in a ziploc bag, then pauses. He stares at the ground with a weird expression. "Leo?" Hazel speaks. "You okay?"
"Yeah," he clears his throat and continues. "Yeah, fine."
"We should've brought a pail and shovels," Hazel crouches beside him.
Ara stands behind to keep an eye on their surroundings.
"We could've made a sand castle," Leo retorts.
"A lime castle."
Silence.
Ara looks back and sees them gazing at each other the way she and Leo would do during their first quest together. That makes her want to do widely different things at the same time: Cry, or stab someone with her sword.
"I'll take a look around," she announces, causing them to jump. "You two hurry."
As soon as she's out of earshot, Ara kicks the sandy ground and curses in Italian. She's always found that cathartic because of how sharp the words feel on her tongue.
She supports both hands on her knees and takes a deep breath. What is wrong with her? Her mother said turning fifteen meant she could handle bad news better, but it was a blatant lie. There is raw anger inside her, and she needs to get rid of it before it becomes a real problem.
"Ara!" Leo calls for her. "This way!"
Ara makes the conscious choice of staying behind so she can glare at them as they move forward. She's so busy doing this that she doesn't notice Hazel stopping and the girl crashes against her, almost sending Hazel to the ground but catching her before it happens.
"Sorry! What's..." She spots a woman in the middle of the road. "Oh."
As they get closer, Ara's deep-rooted rage increases, she doesn't understand what's going on.
"What are you doing?" Leo stops and blurts out: "Aunt Rosa?!"
The lady looks up and Ara gasps so sharply she gets a coughing fit.
That woman looks just like her! A prettier, older version of her. Like the picture of her Chiron keeps in his office.
"Is that what you see?" The woman asks, eyes fixed on Leo. "Interesting. And you, Hazel, dear?"
"How did you—?" Hazel stammers in disbelief. "You—you look like Mrs. Leer. My third-grade teacher. I hated you."
The woman laughs. "Excellent. You resented her, eh? She judged you unfairly?"
"You—she taped my hands to the desk for misbehaving. She called my mother a witch. She blamed me for everything I didn't do and—No. She has to be dead. Who are you?"
"Oh, these two know," the woman glances at Ara before going back to Leo. "How do you feel about Aunt Rosa, mijo?"
Leo's jaw clenches. "Nemesis. You're the goddess of revenge."
Why does the goddess of revenge look like an older version of Ara? That doesn't make any sense. She doesn't hate herself!
"You see?" The goddess smiles. "He recognizes me. But you're having a lot of trouble facing the truth, right, Arae?"
Coming from the goddess, her name sounds like a mockery. "I don't know what you mean."
"Oh, don't play dumb, you were never that kind of Aphrodite," the woman looks down at the fortune cookies she's tearing apart. "You will have great fortune when you least expect it—That's exactly the sort of nonsense I hate. Someone opens a cookie, and suddenly they have a prophecy that they'll be rich! I blame that tramp Tyche. Always dispensing good luck to people who don't deserve it!"
"Uh... you know those aren't real prophecies, right? They're just stuffed in the cookies at some factory—"
"Don't try to excuse it! It's just like Tyche to get people's hopes up. No, no. I must counter her." Nemesis flicks a finger over the text and the letters turn red and change. "You will die painfully when you most expect it. There! Much better."
"That's horrible! You'd let someone read that in their fortune cookie, and it would come true?" Hazel exclaims.
"My dear Hazel, haven't you ever wished horrible things on Mrs. Leer for the way she treated you?"
"That doesn't mean I'd want them to come true!"
Ara can't always be perfect, but something awful will happen, and it is her fault. It's been her fault all along, according to her mother, so maybe she does hate herself enough to be her own nemesis.
"Bah. Tyche would be Fortuna for you, I suppose, being Roman. Like the others, she's in a horrible way right now. Me? I'm not affected. I am called Nemesis in both Greek and Roman. I do not change, because revenge is universal."
"What are you talking about? What are you doing here?" Leo questions.
The goddess opens another cookie. "To answer your question, Leo Valdez, the gods are in terrible shape. It always happens when a civil war is brewing between you Romans and Greeks. The Olympians are torn between their two natures, called on by both sides. They become quite schizophrenic, I'm afraid. Splitting headaches. Disorientation."
"But we're not at war."
"Um, Leo..." Hazel frowns. "Except for the fact that you recently blew up large sections of New Rome."
"Not on purpose!"
"I know, but the Romans don't realize that. And they'll be pursuing us in retaliation."
"Makes you reconsider some life choices, right, Jackson?" Nemesis grins at her. "Leo, listen to this girl. War is coming. Gaea has seen to it, with your help. And can you guess whom the gods blame for their predicament?"
"Me," he replies darkly.
"Well, don't you have a high opinion of yourself!" The goddess laughs. "You're just a pawn on the chessboard, Leo Valdez. I was referring to the player who set this ridiculous quest in motion, bringing the Greeks and Romans together. The gods blame Hera—or Juno, if you prefer! The queen of the heavens has fled Olympus to escape the wrath of her family. Don't expect any more help from your patron!"
"So why are you here?"
"Why, to offer my help!"
"Your help," Leo repeated skeptically.
"Of course! I enjoy tearing down the proud and powerful, and there are none who deserve tearing down like Gaea and her giants. Still, I must warn you that I will not suffer undeserved success. Good luck is a sham. The wheel of fortune is a Ponzi scheme. True success requires sacrifice."
What she hates most about Nemesis's speech, is that it sounds exactly like what she yelled at Lily before leaving camp.It wasn't luck, I worked hard to get here! Someone's holding her face in place, forcing her to look at the problem she created, and that she's spent a whole year pretending not to notice.
"Sacrifice?" Hazel asks in outrage. "I lost my mother. I died and came back. Now my brother is missing. Isn't that enough sacrifice for you?"
"Right now," Leo's hands are tightly closed. "All I want is some Celestial bronze."
"Oh, that's easy. It's just over the rise. You'll find it with the sweethearts."
"Wait," Hazel blinks. "What sweethearts?"
"You'll see. Perhaps they will teach you a lesson, Hazel Levesque. Most heroes cannot escape their nature, even when given a second chance at life. These two keep running into the same wall when the door is right in sight," Nemesis vaguely points to Ara and Leo.
A week ago, Ara wouldn't have known what the goddess meant, but now... all she wants is to stuff the lady's mouth with fortune cookies so she shuts up forever.
"And speaking of your brother Nico, you don't have much time. Let's see... it's June twenty-fifth? Yes, after today, six more days. Then he dies, along with the entire city of Rome."
"How..." Hazel stammers. "What—?"
"And as for you, child of fire." She turns to Leo. "Your worst hardships are yet to come. You will always be the outsider, the seventh wheel. You will not find a place among your brethren. Soon you will face a problem you cannot solve, though I could help you... for a price."
Leo's fingers burst into flames. Hazel steps back in alarm and the boy suffocates the fire by hiding his hand in the pocket of his jeans. "I like to solve my own problems."
"Very well."
"But, um, what sort of price are we talking about?"
"Leo, don't—" Ara starts, but the goddess lifts a hand to silence her.
"He's allowed to ask questions," the woman muses. "One of my children recently traded an eye for the ability to make a real difference in the world."
"You were Ethan's mom?" Ara raises a brow. "No wonder he was such a pain in the ass..."
Nemesis smiles. "When people say that, they're talking about pains that don't let them sit on said asses and force them to get up and do the work. You'll be a pain in the ass to many, Arae Jackson."
"Wait, let me get this straight," Leo intervenes. "You... want an eye?"
"In your case, perhaps another sacrifice would do. But something just as painful. Here." She tosses him a fortune cookie. "If you need an answer, break this. It will solve your problem."
Ara has to suppress the urge to slap the cookie out of his hand. She doesn't want anything to happen to Leo. She lost Mike, Lily's angry at her, and so is Percy. If something were to happen to Leo... she's pretty sure it would make her go insane.
"What problem?"
"You'll know when the time comes."
"No, thanks," Leo replies, but he puts the cookie in his belt anyway.
Nemesis looks at Ara. "You'd need a bigger cookie to solve your predicament, pretty princess." She breaks another cookie and reads the paper. "You will have cause to reconsider your choices soon. Oh, how fitting! No changes needed here."
She reaches for Ara's hand, placing the small paper on it. The girl snatches it away. The last thing she needs is to doubt herself now, especially when the people she loves most in the world depend on her, disappointing them is simply out of the question.
"Very few gods will be able to help you on the quest," the goddess continues unbothered. "Most are already incapacitated, and their confusion will only grow worse. One thing might bring unity to Olympus again—an old wrong finally avenged. Ah, that would be sweet indeed, the scales finally balanced! But it will not happen unless you accept my help."
"I suppose you won't tell us what you're talking about," Hazel scowls. "Or why my brother Nico has only six days to live. Or why Rome is going to be destroyed."
"Oh, it's all tied together, Hazel Levesque," the lady hangs the bag of cookies over her shoulder and stands up. "As for my offer, Leo Valdez, give it some thought. You're a good child. A hard worker. We could do business. But I have detained you too long. You should visit the reflecting pool before the light fades. My poor cursed boy gets quite... agitated when the darkness comes."
Nemesis gives a long, amused look at Ara before departing on her motorcycle. "I'll have fun with you, mighty daughter of Greece."
Again, Ara knows the nickname is meant to ridicule her. The goddess knows exactly who she once was. She should've seen it coming, given that Ara's curse was born from a nymph's hunger for revenge.
Hazel picks up a small piece of paper the goddess left behind, most likely on purpose.
"You will see yourself reflected, and you will have reason to despair," she reads out loud.
"Fantastic," Leo grumbles. "Let's go see what that means."

Happy STS Elli :D
Do you associate any music with your stories or ocs? If so what songs are they?
- @whumpinthepot
Happy STS!
I do not often hear a song and think "oh, that's blorbo material". Back in the day, as I mentioned before, I listened to Arion - You're my Melody on repeat while writing Glass Shards, so that's always a bit of a GS song for me. The other stories were named after songs as well, so of course I connect them a bit, but they don't really match.
Which makes it so much worse HmW is still called Heal my Wounds.
But then people said tumblr likes moodboards, and likes playlists (I still think that was a lie), so I made some, and now I do have a playlist for each, and most songs I do associate with scenes. The lyrics and the mood have to match, but I also have to like the music. I spent days combing through stuff until I found songs that were fitting.
For example, I listened a lot to Fivefold - Till Death, while editing... who would have thought. Till Death, and I giggled when I found Avantasia - Lavender, because Merry likes lavender so much.
So yeah, kinda backwards. The stories were usually done when I went fishing for songs, and all the songs are on the playlists, and the playlists are on the masterlists.

teamwork makes the dream work (1)
leo valdez x child of apollo!reader
warnings: fire, I don’t own pjo obviously
word count: 3.6k
summary: y/n doesn’t like leo. or his badly timed comedy. but when it comes to helping their friends, they’re willing to make the sacrifice and work with him. fortunately for them, that comes with an unexpected change of heart.
This quest was officially the worst one yet. Amongst the monsters, traveling without a clear map, and the glaring time limit, this was the last straw: being assigned to find the celestial bronze with Leo Valdez.
Hazel was fine, she was sweet and focused, and you had only met the girl while the boy behind you had destroyed her camp, so you couldn’t not like her. But for all the six months of getting to know Leo, you couldn’t say the same for him. And with the way he hadn’t let go of you after the ride with Arion, those feelings were accompanied with discomfort.
You eyed him. “You can let go now.”
“Right,” Leo moved his palm from your waist and stepped away. You all watched as Arion sped away from the beach, for the one second the spec of his figure was still visible.
“Fast horse. And expensive to feed.”
You took time to examine the view in front of you as Hazel and Leo chatted and collected sand. The sun was close to setting. You shifted uncomfortably in the sand at the thought of wandering this place in the dark. The sun’s rays seemed to envelop your body in a warm embrace and the fear settled a bit.
“Can we maybe speed this up some more?” you asked the pair impatiently. They had been talking about some kind of lime castle and a boy named Sammy.
“Sorry about my pickiness. Only the best for Festus,” Leo grinned from his position kneeling on the ground.
“This is serious, Valdez. The fate of the world is literally depending on our every move, and it’s almost dark.”
He glanced at the sun and then up at your guarded stance with a raised eyebrow, as if he had come to a realization. “Don’t worry. We’ve got time.”
Your face warmed. “I’m not worried. We need to get back as soon as possible.”
Hazel nodded. “You’re right. Let’s just hope we don’t run into another problem.”
Leo got up and stuffed his ziploc bag of sand into his tool belt and dusted off his hands. “Now, Festus said the celestial bronze was close by but—”
“That way, about five hundred yards.” Hazel answered.
She started directing them to the area she felt the bronze, a useful talent you and Leo appreciated. She led the way in front, leaving you both to walk side by side on the beach. The warmth of the sun beginning to fade away in favor of the purple night slowly mixing through the yellow sky didn’t go unnoticed. You shuddered as the incoming night brought a cool breeze.
Leo picked at his belt. “You know, you don’t have to hide it,” he muttered, loud enough for only you to hear.
You turned your head to face him. “What?”
“You’re always uptight and stuff. I think it’s because you have a secret.”
“What makes you think that?” You scoffed.
He shrugged and fiddled with a pen he seemingly got out of nowhere. “I just do. And now that we’re all on a quest together, I think it’s time we start… you know. Opening up to each other. Teamwork, right?”
“What do you know about teamwork, Valdez?”
“Enough to lead the ship.” He stifled a chuckle.
You looked at him questioningly.
“I’m just imagining you angrily shouting ‘teamwork makes the dream work’. You’re so serious all the time it’s kinda funny. The only person more serious than you is probably Annabeth.”
Rolling your eyes, you looked ahead again. Right before you could respond, you found yourself greeted with the sight of a young woman near a motorcycle with weird chipped wheels. She wore a red leather jacket and black pants, very fitting for her whole biker look going on. She sat on a boulder surrounded by green fields as she picked something with her hand and threw it.
You were the first to move forward. One thing you learned throughout your years going along quests was that nothing was as it seemed — and this woman was no exception.
Hazel followed immediately, and Leo after a second of watching. As the three of you approached, the woman’s activities became clear. She would open a fortune cookie, mutter something, and chuck it away. Once or twice she would smile and put it back.
Leo was the first to speak. “Aunt Rosa?”
The woman looked up with some interest. “That’s what you see, then?” She looked at Hazel. “You, Hazel?”
“You look like Mrs. Leer. My third grade teacher. I hated you.”
“Mrs. Leer/Aunt Rosa” laughed and questioned for information from Hazel, which she got.
“And you, Y/N?” Her stare seemed to dig up anger and resentment you didn’t know you had until you saw her face.
“My sister.”
You silently thanked Hazel as she stepped in. “Who are you?”
“Leo knows. How do you feel about Aunt Rosa, mijo?”
Leo’s face morphed into understanding. “Nemesis. You’re the goddess of revenge.”
You watched quietly as they interacted, consuming every word said. Nemesis was a good luck buzzkill. But she did hold useful information. All they needed to get back to the ship was celestial bronze, and she knew exactly where it was and how to get it. You were reeling from the comment on Nico’s impending death when she called you.
“Child of the sun,” she sighed. “You’ll find that darkness lies in even the brightest of places. I think you can learn from the sweethearts as well.” Your sister’s face smiled teasingly. “It’s difficult, staying so far away. Isn’t it?”
She turned to Leo again, saying things even you knew weren’t true.
The eighth wheel… you will not find a place among your brethren.
You may not like the guy, but he was just as part of the team as the rest of you were, including Percy and Jason. He built the ship they were using the whole trip. If that was an eighth wheel, what were you?
“Soon you will face a problem you cannot solve, though I could help you…for a price.”
You felt a sudden wave of energy and calm, like the sunlight had done for you earlier that day, and you looked for the source. Your eyes landed on Leo’s left hand, which was literally on fire.
He looked at Hazel and shoved it in his pocket. The woman was unfazed as she started telling about one of her children and a lost eye.
“Ethan,” you couldn’t help but say. “He was on the Titan’s side.”
Nemesis’ eyes glared. “You won’t say his name.” Her expression settled when she went back to her proposal.
You watched as she handed Leo a fortune cookie, to solve his problems she said, that he slipped into his toolbelt. Despite his statement against using it, you had done this stuff before. No matter how much he didn’t like this, he’d need it. Another nice lesson you learn when meeting gods. “It's all tied together, Hazel Levesque.” Her eyes landed on you again, and the warmth of Leo's hand fire had worn off. All you felt was the rough and cold stare of the goddess. “Y/N Y/L/N. I suppose you could say we’ll meet again. Think about what I told you. About who I look like.”
Your eyebrows furrowed. Soon after, she dismissed the three of you to find the cursed child she spoke of, and drove off.
Hazel read the only fortune she left on the grass. “You will see yourself reflected, and you will have reason to despair,” she read aloud.
“Nice fortune.”
Leo looked unsatisfied. “Fantastic. Let’s go see what that means.”
As you trekked through the dunes and toward the body of water the cursed child was supposedly located at, you couldn’t help but ponder over the sight of Nemesis.
“Who’s Aunt Rosa?” You asked.
The boy you were talking to didn't look anxious to answer, and you regretted asking immediately. He touched his toolbelt again and sighed, like he just realized something was weighing him down. Before you could tell him he didn’t have to answer, he replied.
“My aunt that abandoned me after my mom died.”
You frowned. “Oh.”
“I’m sorry.” Hazel seemed better at this than you.
He was quick to change the subject. “And you, Y/N? You saw your sister?”
“Uh, yeah,” you responded awkwardly. “Yeah, she and I don’t get along. Obviously. She’s a child of Apollo as well, but…” you grimaced. “She picked the Titan’s side, like Nemesis’ kid. It was a whole thing. Long story.”
“That sucks.” Leo said.
Hazel looked at you in sympathy. “That must’ve been hard.”
“It’s fine,” you reassured. “It’s been, like, a year. It’s not like I have to see her anymore.” You suddenly felt the pressure you had put on Leo. Why did your curiosity always have to backfire? “What about you, Hazel? What she said about Nico and you coming back from…you know? I didn't know he was going from camp to camp.”
The girl in question blinked, her eyes looking shiny. And there was the regret you felt for asking yet again. She explained what Nico had done for her.
“We’ll save him,” you told her. “We’ll make sure of it.”
You stared pointedly at Leo.
“Yeah, yeah we will!” He cheered uneasily. He made a little fist in the air, and you narrowed your eyes.
Hazel smiled gratefully.
You had reached a boulder and started to climb to get a view of the landscape and hopefully, the cursed kid Nemesis talked about. Hazel successfully climbed on as well, while Leo staggered. She caught him and held onto his hand, helping him get up, and they stared at each other as if they had just seen the other for the first time.
You were starting to feel more like a spectator than ever. “Okay…” you said. That seemed to break them out of their reverie, as Leo quickly thanked Hazel and let go of her hand.
“Earlier, you made fire with your hands,” Hazel mentioned.
“Yeah, it’s a Hephaestus power.” The girl looked wary. “Usually I can keep it under control,” he added unhelpfully.
Hazel put her hand over a pocket of her jacket protectively.
“It’s rare,” you told her. You looked at Leo. “He just makes little flames in his hair or limbs when he gets excited, or something. The big ones, he can control, he’s good at that.” He looked at you weirdly, but Hazel was more relaxed, and that’s what you were aiming for. You just had to hope that Leo improved his control before you could be proven wrong.
“Okay, cool,” Hazel nodded. “So about this cursed child…”
“Cursed child.” A voice echoed from below. You jumped in surprise. Gods, you hated surprises in the dark.
That’s when you saw a girl in the grass. She seemed to blend right in until you realized somebody was there. Even then, it was difficult to actually see her. All three of you struggled to find who she was exactly, seeing as she kept repeating everything you said.
“Wasn’t there some myth about a girl who repeated everything?” Leo started.
“Echo,” Hazel agreed.
“Echo.”
“Right,” you remembered. “Hera did this?”
“Hera did this.”
Leo frowned. “Wow. Another reason to love her.”
You all continued to try to communicate with the nymph, not without some teasing from Leo that made you glare at him. She guided you to a mob of other nymphs with t-shirts and phones that were jumping up and down excitedly at the sight of something. Hazel tried to get through but they were resistant.
“Demigod business,” Leo stated. “Make room, thanks.” He got through with you and Hazel to find the most handsome man you had ever seen. Beautifully handsome, one could say. Handsomely beautiful.
You gasped when you saw him. “He’s gorgeous,” Hazel said. You hummed in agreement, eyes stuck on his figure. He was just staring at the river’s reflection. At himself. What?
You listened attentively while the nymphs talked with Hazel and Leo, and continued to stare at the guy. “Narcissus,” you tried his name. “The guy who broke too many hearts and was cursed to be obsessed with his own reflection. Another day for Hera.” This seemed to make the nymphs even more excited.
Leo, who recognized the story, pushed through and tried to talk to the handsome guy. He was barely acknowledged.
“I am so great.”
You and Hazel wrinkled your noses. You forgot how conceited this Narcissus was. He was almost as handsome as he was self-absorbed.
Leo tried to take the celestial bronze, but it was clear nobody was getting it without some fight with Narcissus. He didn’t remember dying, but the one thing keeping him there was the exact thing they needed. You felt yourself growing restless.
“We need to talk,” you told Leo and Hazel. They agreed and you walked away with Echo.
“He’s going to stay that way until he dies again. Nemesis was right.” Hazel crossed her arms.
“No,” Leo said. “We’re getting that bronze. We’ll take it from him and Echo will have a chance to save him.” The nymph agreed in echoes.
You looked at the sky. “He’s right. Nemesis told us he gets agitated after dark, so we don’t have much time. Fifteen minutes if we’re lucky. The safe option is if we do this right now.”
“Right now.”
Unfortunately, Hazel was unable to summon the metal from a safe distance, so you had to go with Choice B. Summon it from here while Leo caused a distraction.
Hazel and you watched a little dumbstruck at Leo’s idea of a makeover. Goggles, machine oil, and a wrench. Total bad boy material.
“Y/N,” he called with a black marker in hand. “You’re an artist, right? You write stuff.”
“Um.” You shrugged. “I guess.”
He handed the marker to you and told you what you were going to write. You felt warm again.
“Hot stuff?” You asked incredulously.
“That's me,” he grinned.
You looked to Hazel for help, to find she was too busy fanning her face.
“Gods, save me from this,” you sighed. Stepping forward, you began to write and draw. You’d have liked to take more time drawing the skull and crossbones — the eyes were so uneven — but the darkening sky pushed you to be quick. “This is ridiculous. What goes through that head of yours, Valdez?” you murmured, face hot at your close proximity. You’d been through a lot of things, but being this close to a boy who wasn’t Percy — who was like your brother — was not one of them.
“Not much,” he answered, cheeks flushed. “Thinking interferes with being nuts.” You capped the marker and stepped back. “Hazel, concentrate on the bronze. Y/N do your thing when I start talking. Echo, you ready?”
“Ready.”
“Cool,” Leo nodded. He started sauntering to the mob of nymphs, Echo by his side, and you behind while Hazel stayed in place. “Leo is the coolest!” He shouted.
You followed your cue, and focused on manipulating the little light left to make the boy in front of you glow as he continued to talk. The light flickered when you struggled not to laugh at the words coming out of his mouth.
“Oh my god, I even glow! I am so awesome!” He turned to you for a second with a smile and a thumbs up. He turned away right before you realized you were smiling. How embarrassing.
“So awesome!”
You noticed Narcissus starting to get angry. “He must be tricking us.” He declared. He looked back at the pond to see no bronze.
Uh-oh, you thought. You looked up again to find it was night. The glow on Leo was quickly fading. Narcissus was not a stupid guy. He began to get the nymphs back on his side, ordering them to get the bronze back no matter what. And for a possible kiss. He was annoying you more and more.
“Kill those demigods!” He yelled. “They are not as cool as me.”
You didn’t have time to watch the nymphs prepare for a chase — the moment you saw Narcisuss’ unforgiving eyes you panicked. “Leo!” You called, grabbing his arm without a second thought and ran before he could get hurt.
Your mistake was overestimating your strength to do so. The ground in front of you was blurry and covered in black dots and your head was hurting. A reminder of how much you hated confronting monsters in the dark during past quests. You felt the need to let go of Leo; you were only slowing him down with the speed at which you were running and tripping on things you couldn’t see. You touched your head and willed it to stop. Of course, it didn’t work.
Leo kept watching you worriedly. He noticed your sudden exhaustion and ran at a steady pace that was fast enough to outrun the nymphs for now, and slow enough for you to follow as long as you held onto him. That was, until, you did let go.
He didn’t falter as he grasped your hand tightly and kept running. You didn’t have time to think of it as you felt your arm heat up. It seemed to spread throughout your body, and soon your vision improved to see the ground a little more clearly. It was still very dark, but the outlines of rocks and grass were easier to see. You looked down and noticed Leo’s legs slowly starting to harbor fire. Your eyes widened.
“Leo,” you breathed. “Your legs.”
“Uh,” he glanced at you. “Fire helps, right?”
You watched the fire’s light illuminate the ground. “Oh. Yeah. Yeah it does. Why…”
“We’re a team.”
You had both caught up to Hazel by then, and helped her carry the bronze. It was somewhat of a struggle with Leo and you each only having one hand available to help, but you managed.
“Call Arion!” Leo was panting. Echo was pushing around the mob, slowing them down, but they were still quick.
“Already did!”
The three of you had made it to the beach, but the Argo II was too far to swim to. You all turned to see the nymphs being led by Narcissus, bow in hand.
“Oh man. I’m not good with straight up fighting,” Leo winced.
Before the two of you could follow Hazel’s order to get behind her, Echo had approached.
“Get behind me!” She spread her arms in front of Leo, meaning to shield him.
“Echo? You’re one brave nymph.”
“Brave nymph?”
You looked at Echo and Leo sympathetically as he encouraged her to forget Narcissus. The mob of nymphs had caught up and surrounded them in a half circle.
“Kill them!” The beautifully handsome guy yelled. Before the girls could follow through with it, they were interrupted by a figure speeding through the lime of the beach.
“I love this horse!” Leo cheered.
Narcissus and the nymphs were temporarily blinded by the sand in their eyes, giving the three of you time to get on Arion. Hazel was the first to climb up, securing the bronze while you and Leo helped each other up. You lent him a hand when it was his turn.
“Wait,” he paused. “We can’t leave Echo.”
“Leave Echo.”
She was set on the goal to use this second chance at life to save Narcissus. You felt bad for her, but you admired her determination. “You could do it, Echo. Good luck,” you smiled.
She returned it softly. “Good luck.”
She kissed Leo’s cheek and waved, her figure blending into her surroundings again.
“Leo, come on!” Hazel urged.
“Yeah, okay,” he accepted. He looked to be in deep thought, so you didn’t disturb him. His fire had extinguished completely, leaving you nearly blind again. But you didn't really mind. You weren’t in a life or death situation anymore. You were just tired. You looked down at your hand. The fact that you and Leo still had a grip on each other didn’t fully register; all you knew was that despite the wind blowing furiously, you weren’t cold at all.
You leaned slightly on the boy in front of you. Gods knew you needed to rest. Before you could fully drift off, the horse stopped. You looked up to see the Argo II and knew it was time to get up again. The three of you got off safely with the bronze and started to head toward the hallway.
While nearing Jason’s room, Leo clutched the metal tighter before looking at your hands. “Oh.”
“Sorry,” you said together.
You stood, staring for a bit, and then you let go. Leo looked at Piper and Jason, who were watching with amusement.
“What happened to you?” Piper asked him, fixated on the greased back hair and tattoos.
“Long story. Are the others back?”
“No, not yet.”
“Damn it.” Leo looked at Jason. “Hey, man! Glad to have you back. I’ll be in the engine room.”
He took the sheet of bronze and stared at you tentatively. You didn’t know what he was waiting for, so you nodded. He ran off, leaving you and Hazel standing at the doorway.
“Team Leo?” Piper asked with a raised eyebrow.
Hazel explained.
You backed into the hallway. “Well, then,” you coughed. “I’m gonna go take a nap. Probably. Bye, Hazel. Piper, Jason.”
You sprawled on your bed, the room temperature fixed on a comfortable balance of cool and warm, a refreshing environment after being outside for so long. You silently thanked Leo, making you think of what had happened just ten minutes ago. Yesterday you wouldn’t be caught dead holding his hand. Or drawing skulls on his arm. But why did it matter so much? Why did being around him feel different now? He held hands with Hazel on the boulder too. Not to mention, you were being chased by killer nymphs. He had just been a decent person, helping you. But what were you now? Friends? It felt like too quick of a development. It felt more accurate to say you didn’t like him a little less now. He was still the boy who made unfunny jokes whilst you and your friends were grieving the loss of brave campers who gave their lives during the war. Who became camp counselor with no experience on how to lead a group. It wasn’t fair.
Were you being fair?
Wondering about it made your head hurt. You closed your eyes and got comfortable. If you were going to think about Leo Valdez, you’d do it when you had the energy for it. The feeling would probably be gone by the time you woke up and had dinner. It would. And if it wasn’t… well. You had some talking to do.

More Dorohedoro style experiments, sorta - I half-assed this a little because I was mostly doodling for fun. Had been thinking about au stuff with Hikaru, Arion, and Jack (not pictured).
Arion's a visiting investigative journalist covering magic practice victims and sorcerers, Hikaru is a magic practice victim working as their bodyguard (with Jack) so they don't Mega Die.

Do you think Aquaman is (or should be?) sword and sorcery? I was reading Arion the Immortal and it’s set in Atlantis before it sunk, and it’s actually really good.
I do enjoy Arion comics! Older ones at least, admittedly I haven’t kept up with all his modern appearances.
I think some Aquaman stories lean towards that genre more than others, and those tend to be the ones I enjoy more. Comics tend to focus on political stuff and Arthur’s status as a king (or like…ex-king now?) but I love when the stories are personal adventures that involve some kind of creature or supernatural threat instead of like. A guy.
I think I’ve mentioned that I love the Arthurian parallels, and I wish they would make more stories that are just clearly those stories but underwater. The characters and setting absolutely lend themselves to that genre and they should do more with it.

Intro Post
Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself and say more about the intention of this account. First, I want to say that while I do like Inazuma Eleven, I much prefer the GO series over the original. Yes, I’m one of those people. So yeah, sorry if I don’t post much of the OG characters! (But I do have some OG favorites I’ll sometimes draw) And another thing is that I have watched playthroughs of the game for GO, but I have never actually played the game myself. I can’t since I’m not from the UK...Fricken Region Lock... And the final thing is that I haven’t seen much of Chrono Stones, Galaxy, Ares, or the rest of the 2nd and 3rd season for the OG series...So I will be trying to avoid spoilers as best I can, but I doubt I can get far without encountering them... So yeah, if you’re ever wondering why Arion and the crew aren’t going through time or space, that’s why.
As for myself, you can just call me Crystal, Katie, or Victor. I’m fine with any of those names. I identify as female and use she/her pronouns.
To wrap it up: I’ll mostly post art, comics, and animations here, and I’ll sometimes ramble about Inazuma Eleven or other obscure stuff, so watch out for those. I hope that I can eventually make reviews or discussions about those fandoms, either through video format or blog format.
Once again, thank you for checking out my page!

Gen II trio are running for student's council presidency! They're vying for the throne because Arion and Altena are graduating. Between you and me (and the whole world), who will you support?
Seliph: wants mental health to be a priority, will pressure the school to bring a psychologist to school clinic. Wants everything to be democratically decided by having people vote for student council's programs, such as what festival should be held next and where. Challenge so far: having to dispel rumor that he's coming from family of attorneys. Some loud naysayers unsure if he can uphold what he promised because to them he looks like a cute duck. Rumored wanting to ban swearing at school and replace it with weekly slam poetry session. The animal lovers like it when he thinks students should be able to have a yearly tour to zoos or aquarium to volunteer.
Leif: Runs on the premise that boys shouldn't be discriminated because of their height; inclusive basketball team because he thinks height will get you to the ring, but anger makes the best dunks. Wants to reinstate state-sanctioned mandatory free edible lunches and adds fishing in a secluded lake with a homestay of forest cottage into yearly school activity. Thinks every school needs a stress room where students go to destroy stuff and come out feeling better. Challenges so far: rumors about him being a communist, and whispers about him having slashed teachers' tires. The stress room is most favored, however.
Ares: The most radical premises out of the three. Wants to abolish school uniforms. Wants to bring back honorable sword duel to settle dispute, which gets criticized a lot. He argues it will make people to think twice before being an asshole, mutual deterrence. Thinks students should be able to oust a teacher from their class if the teacher is deemed unfit or doesn't care for the students' well-being. Surprisingly wants more funding for art programs, which leads to the infamous controversy where science and sports clubs point at his face asking why he hate them. It's only infamous because he says, "Like I give a fuck." Broadcast to the teacher's and principal's offices. Wants students who get caught being cruel to cats expelled without appeal.
There are also rumors that Ced will run although the certainties are still kept in the dark. His program includes extra math hours to help struggling students, which he will call Math Clinic. Wants school bus rides to be free. Favored for inclusive school environment, including more funding for cultural exchanges and foreign language classes. Wants school uniforms to be proper again, which invites some naysayers. The hardest challenge for him so far, however, is to stop people from calling him a nerd. His fans love the idea of mandatory sign language matriculation class, though!
If Ced actually runs, who is actually going to not vote for him? Many people, actually, because people are naturally distrustful of lofty promises like that. Not to mention, he sounds like a technocrat, and that is not in style right now.
I'd support Seliph, of course, because slashing teacher's tires is very bad. And while I agree with Ares that being cruel to cats should be an offense meriting expulsion, sword duels aren't the most safe thing.

These are the AUT websites. They all feature a similar design with a different colour for each different area of their sites, such as the main website (red/green) Library (red) Alumni page (orange) and student hub (purple). I believe they use these colours to differentiate themselves and can also help users understand what part of the AUT site they're on.
In my design I wanted users of Arion to make the connection for themselves that this is an AUT website, so I used a similar navigation setup with the 2 colour bars on top with the AUT logo on the left.
And for Arion, I used purple as that's what I think AUT uses for stuff relating to students, I had thought of using blue to make it stand out as that's a colour that AUT doesn't seem to use too often but from my research I believe this is to prevent people from confusing it with the University of Auckland.
Tumblr media
These are screenshots from SSO which is basically the University of Auckland's Arion, a website where their students apply for their classes and enrolments. I thought it would be important to look at what a competitor to see what works and what doesn't.
The look and feel of this website is definitely better than Arion's. However from my previous experience at UoA the website can still be quite confusing to navigate, after you log in you are greeted with a bunch of icons, though these help in telling you what they lead to, but because there doesn't seem to have any hierarchy or order in which they're arranged, you do get something similar with Arion, where you still have to look around to find what you need.
