January Giallo Day 31 Suspiria There's not too much more to say about my love for this film that I haven't already said. There's no way I can watch a months worth of gialli and not watch the movie that started my love for the genre. Even though I literally just watched it with the score performed live by @claudiosimonettisgoblin. Along with some other greats, this is a yearly watch for me at this point. Doesn't get old at all. Plus, @arrowvideo really needs to make that 4K Box Set happen already. Inferno @laceyofthedead has never seen this film. I've only watched it once before and I needed a rewatch for sure. I remember digging it, and I'm so ready for @arrowvideo to finally release a 4K box of this along side all the other @darioargento_official films they already have. Watching these first 2 mothers back to back definitely gives more appreciation to Inferno. Love the color play, and the sets. My main issue with this film is certian scenes feel long and dragged out. The story suffers a little because of it. This might be a US cut thing and maybe the Italian version is better. I don't know. Unfortunately this is the only version I've seen on @shudder and @tubi. Either way, a solid close out to January Giallo. Saw a lot of unseen and under appreciated gialli. Most were fantastic, some dropped the ball a little. January Giallo Day 29 The Last Matinee Picked another recent favorite of mine and definitely a modern take on giallo. I managed to score the now OOP @vinegarsyndrome cope with exclusive slip AND the @arrowvideo limited edition with slip and poster. I really enjoyed this movie. There's no nudity, which makes sense since the story doesn't call for it. But its compensation is a metric ass ton of blood and gore. I haven't seen this much eyeball trauma since the old school Fulci films. The premise is really creepy, too. A random psychopath just goes on a calculated murder spree in a dark and almost empty movie theater. For what seems like no other reason than he enjoys it. 31 Days of Horror Day 29: Lucio Fulci's The Black Cat So I just got home from having my head blown clean off by the amazing @kreatorofficial and the infamous @mercyfulfatecoven, but that doesn't mean I don't come home and finish my night with a horror movie. We just have to watch this one a little late in the night is all. This film is another one I've had on my radar for quite some time. Fulci is hit or miss with some people, but I like his movies. He goes for the throat (and eyes) and doesn't let up. His movies might be over the top and silly sometimes, but they're always fun and REALLY gory. Here's hoping this one is similar to his other films and this is just another bloody good time. 31 Days of Horror Day 20: Tenemos La Carne (We Are The Flesh) So this one was a random blind pick off of @arrowplayer. Had things to do today and needed a short one. Clocking in at an hour and 20 mins, it was perfect. Now, this was... different. It's definitely an art house style horror film. There's not too much i can say about it without ruining something, so all I can say is; it's fucked up. Subject matter is up for conversation and I can see a lot of people not liking this film. I do have to say, I was intrigued the whole time. And the ending was just mind fucking, at least to me. It's very Gasper Noé, if you're familiar with his work. It's a psychosexual fever dream. Very well shot, but REALLY fucking weird and fucked up. Spoils of War, Arrow Video's Demonia Edition: I've been going back and forth over when to pick this one up. Saw the movie month ago on @arrowplayer and it was exactly what you'd expect from a Fulci film. Complete gory insanity! So adding it to the collection was a no brainer, but there was so many other films that were higher on the list. Luckily, @diabolikdvd had them well in stock and I managed to get one before it ever sold out. The packaging on this beast is definitely a high selling point for me. A digipak thar folds out to a cross. Fucking brilliant! Also, the movie being region free doesn't hurt.
