The Afternoon Tea DGS zine by @afternoonteazine!! Oh I absolutely adore this zine it is such a perfect theme for The Great Ace Attorney :') The art and writing and merch are all just gorgeous and made me so hungry, I can't get over how cute everything is

As a bonus I also ordered the sketchbook! I have a small review and test page of the sketchbook under keep reading but I am SO pleasantly surprised with the book. Any DGS or even Ace Attorney zine/stickers/spreads I make will now be in this sketchbook so commentary might be shorter because of it! (Game spreads will still be in my larger journal)

This is such a perfect zine theme for this particular game duology. I absolutely love what everyone has made. The art and writing is all so cozy and sweet, it makes me want to have a tea party of my own. I am so pleasantly surprised by the quality of what I received, especially the notebook which is much thicker than expected! TYSM to all the artists, writers, and mods, y'all killed it. I love this sm.

Sketchbook Review

The cover is printed well and very durable. The pages are thick and I was surprised at how big the sketchbook is! I have a few mini square sketchbooks and they don't have nearly as many pages as this sketchbook. It also includes a back pocket, a ribbon, and an elastic clasp. Another surprising bit is the pages are honestly some of the smoothest pages I've ever felt. It's not a bad thing at all but I have just never touched paper this nice before lol. That does mean the way some materials react to the paper will be different, but none of my test materials bled through the pages. (only faint outlines/shadows but not full bleed). I genuinely adore this sketchbook and am so happy to have snagged one during preorders

For people who actually use Alt Text and Image Descriptions

I typically write image descriptions that are extremely prose-like in order to capture the mood of a piece rather than writing a purely descriptive image description. But this does mean that I sometimes sacrifice details in favor of making the description sound nice. So I want to ask: do you guys prefer a more prose-like description that sacrifices some detail or a purely descriptive description?

As an example, here's a recent piece of mine and two different image descriptions. Description A is the prose-like description I originally wrote for this piece. Description B is a purely descriptive description I'd write for this piece.

Description A - Prose-like: A black hole is the closest thing we have to a physical manifestation of a god. It is what follows the collapse of a star, where information is lost, and where time seems to slow down. And yet he holds one in his lap like a playground ball. He rests his arms and head on top of it as if it were a toy. Power gently dances off of him in flames as he and the black hole simply exist within the known mathematical models of spacetime.

Description B - Purely Descriptive: An image of Super Sonic in space. His body is made of fire and his quills are flames that gently rise towards the top of the piece as large sparkles dance around him. His eyes are closed and he is resting his head on a black hole that he holds in his lap. The paths of celestial bodies circle around him. Behind him are gold geometric figures, including circles, labeled lines, and a protractor. The artist signature, JasmineByTheBay, is on the bottom of the image.

Artist: jasminebythebay Mai had clutched his hand as they watched the air bison disappear into the afternoon sky. But the small comfort did little for the growing abyss in his chest. He kept his gaze fixed on her blue eyes and black-brown hair whipping in the wind until they melted into the clouds.

After the Agni-Kai she had pulled him from the edge by sheer determination alone. Then the real fight started. For two weeks they were inseparable, solely responsible for the survival of the other in their hostile surroundings. He had given her an out multiple times. Practically begged her to take Appa and run. To go find the others and let him handle the council. But she refused. Instead, she stood with him shoulder to shoulder, hand and hand, literally. Their days were taken up, meeting one government official after another, convincing each one to help facilitate a smooth transition of power.

Their evenings were spent healing the burned wreck of his abdomen. Each night she worked tirelessly until her skin chilled, her nose bled and one of them had passed out. He'd always wake first, each time finding her curled up in his arms. Morning did always seem to find them too soon.

When she faced the council and spoke on his behalf, the pieces of the helpless girl he had tied to a tree fell away. Revealed the stoic chieftain's daughter and master waterbender she had become. He had never known she possessed that kind of drive and passion. He wished he hadn't taken so long to discover it, maybe then she would still be here.

He had known she would have to leave. That their time together was borrowed and would quickly running out. When the others arrived from Ba Sing Se and stole her away, he started to brace himself for it. But he wasn't prepared for how bereft his heart had felt as he stood at the docks and bid her goodbye. Even now the scent of gardenias and peonies clung to him. It was the last trace he had of her.

He looked at himself in the mirror, draped in rich silks, and crowned in the finest gold. He looked the part but he had never felt more lost. Now that the war was over, everyone had moved on to the next chapter of their lives. He was alone and that familiar emptiness in his chest threatened to eat him alive.

"How am I supposed to do this without you?" He begged the question to his reflection, but it had no answer.
