In lieu of me posting art or a fic, I am here to present a new AU that's been sitting around in my head for awhile.

The premise is that Sonic, nearing the end of a fight, loses his footing (or smth like that) and tumbles down a small cliff/hill. But before he can get up a huge boulder lands on his feet and renders him immobile. And due to the fighting earlier, his communicator is broken. A few days go by with Sonic in lots of pain and his Chaos Energy starts to build up. Usually he'd get rid of it by running but uh. Can't exactly do that since he's stuck. So what happens with the buildup of Chaos Energy? Well it starts leaking and taking the form of uncontrollable plant powers.

Meanwhile with the other characters, Sonic has been gone for a concerning amount of time but there's also been strange reports of wild plant growth and people being attacked. To make it worse, the plants are in the general area of Sonic's last known location. Over time it gets progressively worse and eventually Angel Island becomes their home base as it's one of the few places untouchable by the plants. After lots of investigating and coordination, Tails, Amy, Knuckle, and Team Dark locate what they believe to be the source of the overgrowth (an abnormal chaos energy reading) and mount a mission to hopefully put a stop to the plants once and for all.

They tear down and kill all the plants in their path and start to hear screaming. Was there somebody else out here? But why and how? Not only that, but the yelling is coming from the direction of the suspected source. Eventually they reach a clearing and find... Sonic?!

Sonic's legs have been crushed by a boulder, he's covered in plants (the most notable being a giant flower on his back), his body is shaking, seems to be letting out screams in sync with them hurting the plants, whimpering, and has a bit of a blank look on his face.

Oddly, the plants that had just been attacking them began to stop. But it was like an outside source was just barely stopping them from doing so.

As for Sonic, this is the first time he's seen people in what feels like forever and he really didn't want them getting hurt. Because of this he's just barely able and unknowingly stopping the plants from attacking them. The feeling of wanting them to stop attacking was especially amplified upon seeing Tails, although his memory is a bit fuzzy due to the circumstances.

They manage to untrap Sonic and the plants seem pretty docile now and not out of control like before. Of course, they do plan how they untrap Sonic so he's less likely to bleed out or whatever. In the process they discover that the giant flower on his back is attached to him- and is eventually theorized to be part of the reason Sonic lived so long by giving him the ability to photosynthesize.

That's about all I got story wise but here's a little more information on this Sonic:

-Clingy towards Tails.

-Touch starved.

-Completely mute for awhile. Eventually becomes selectively mute and, when he does talk, he speaks in short sentences and not very loudly.

-Has prosthetic legs built by Tails.

-Slowly learns to control his plant powers.

-The reason his plant powers began attacking people was in response to Sonic's own fear over his situation.

-Doesn't need to eat or drink as long as he's got regular access to the sun on account of photosynthesis. Sleeping isn't required either but it has benefits.

-Has a hard time stomaching any food. Not only has he gone so long without it but his body had adapted to living without it soooo...

-He's also gonna have other plant-like qualities that I still need to think about. Like how his anatomy has changed like I mentioned above.

My latest au is what I’ve been calling the Adventure Swap Au! Basically, take a link, and plop him in someone else’s adventures (with some modifications to the story or character’s abilities). As a result we’ve got:

Wild, the chosen hero who fell from Skyloft and lost his memories.

Twilight, the hero of minish who wields a sword that turns him into a wolf.

Time, a seafaring hero who started his adventure after his big sister was kidnapped.

Sky, a military captain who traveled through time against a sorceress who desired him specifically.

Wind, a veteran adventurer who can’t remember a time he hasn’t been doing quests.

Four, who perished in battle and woke up 100 years later with his soul split into pieces.

Warriors, a traveler and strategist trying to survive in a world that hunts for his blood.

Legend, who traveled many dimensions and gained several forms to stop the usurper king.

And finally Hyrule, whose magical instruments and masks helped him defeat Ganondorf and escape a 72 hour time loop.

(Also with a bonus minish Midna on Twi’s shoulder!)

Are there any tutorials you'd reccomend etc for someone who wants to start making music but is like, 1000000% new to it? I usually get overwhelmed and just delete the program...

it depends on what DAW (digital audio workstation) you're using– you can almost always find a good one by searching on YouTube "(DAW name) beginner tutorial". It's (usually) gonna be long and boring, but learning your way around the software is the most crucial part of this whole process , and you won't get anywhere without it!!

As for actually MAKING music, there are various tutorials for certain genres also on Youtube, and often you can narrow down your search by adding the name of your DAW. e.g. "happy hardcore fl studio tutorial". unfortunately this part - the actual making music process - is still something a little difficult for me to describe

also, a lot of the tutorials like that go REALLY fast, so don't be afraid to pause or rewind as often as you need.

ive also found that copying other people's music is like unironically one of the best ways to learn music, similar to art. Making cover songs will let you become more familiar with the program, WITHOUT the stress of coming up with a whole new song on your own.

speaking of "a whole song", remember that you DONT have to be churning out entire completed songs at the very beginning. it rarely ever goes this way. AND ALSO don't rush yourself to complete a project in one sitting. You'll later regret not taking the time to tweak it to perfection!!!!

so TLDR watch a long boring tutorial or a few, start *small* with short loops or cover songs, and don't rush yourself. this sorta thing takes a lot of time and practice to get down. if you aren't perfect at first remember that's Ok and it's just part of the learning process

My goal for this piece, in addition to playing with patterns and textures and adding some Naruto references, was to add as many death flags as possible.

The idea of having Izuna in a fireman's coat is obviously not from me. I've always like the idea of Uchihas in fire resistant clothes, and the opportunity for a thick texture alongside a reversible double pattern is very appealing. I used the image of the second reference as a base, with skulls on one side and stylized lightning patterns on the other (visible inside the sleeves and collar). Both were common immagery of firemen coats.

The actual skull pattern is taken from the third reference. I'd seen this one before and before even learning anything abt it it was too beautiful to pass up. Those white and navy gradients are absolutely delightful and I enjoyed using my gel pens for them very much.... This particular type of imagery with skulls and bones in a field is called Nozarashi, inspired by Buddhist representation of death and transience.

The lightning pattern itself is a reference to water and lightning dragons :) Like Tobirama's iconic jutsu, it's one of the hints of what's abt to happen to our little guy. The scabbard is also decorated with dragon motifs for the same reason.

The background pattern is taken from the first reference, another fireman's coat with an illustration of Raijin, the thunder god. He is often representated with drums decorated with tomoes. It works nicely as a standard looking sharingan illustration, with a reference to Tobirama's hiraishingiris with the thunder imagery, like the thunder patterns inside the coat.

If you're interested in this I recommend the book linked in the second reference! It is entirely about skeleton motifs in japanese clothing of the early 20th century.

A somewhat nice story though was Ratty describing how in Japan sometimes they’d put live baby eels in the drinks (?????) and the bodyguards would bite the heads off the eels before eating them (?!?!?!????!!?!) and Brian was so horrified by that, that he would free his eels into the ornamental fountains and rivers and stuff 😭

Officially introducing 🥁 🥁 ,, My SPH self-insert, Nea! <33 💖🍨🌸♡

(And me rambling abt pup utc, as promised! ♡)

Okay firstly: Nea is alright to kin, as of now! :3 Even tho they're supposed to be a self-insert, I'm sorta disconnected from them and just see them as an OC I project onto, so you can be open abt being kin w/ Nea, if you want ! (But please respect my wishes if I choose to change this later on; I can't make any promises that I'll still feel like this in the future :P) .

Alright, so!  Starting with the basics:

🧁 • Nea's likes: stuffed animals, Twyla (their girlfriend), drawing, making OCs, Tiniest Ferry Shop, cute things, receiving attention & praise, physical affection, making others happy, kandi, video games, laughing off negative/hard emotions.

Dislikes: feeling second best/inferior to others, loud noises, being yelled at, seeing those they care about getting hurt, taking care of themself (Nea sometimes considers it a waste of time), taking everything seriously, stumbling over their words & feeling like they're talking too much, being unable to help.

🌈 • Nea is ⅓ cat, ⅓ cake anthry, and ⅓ dog! :3 (hence why they have 1 dog ear & 1 cat ear, and only half of their body has cat/cake or dog features). They worked as a nurse at Sparklecare for ~1 year before being demoted to a patient, due to Nea unfortunately getting diagnosed w/ glows-a-lot. Nea wanted to help others when they first applied for the job, and they already had an interest in things like medicine, so becoming a nurse at The Best hospital in CountryTownCountry seemed like a good idea to them.

🐕 • Personality traits (ones not listed in the card) :

Apathetic: due to Nea primarily using apathy as one of their defense mechanisms, they can sometimes not care about what happens around them, including with some of the people around them. Nea is sometimes distant or partially emotionally disconnected from others, and unsympathetic to others problems (<- That doesn't mean Nea won't try to help, though. They're still empathetic). This occasional lack of concern for basically everything can also cause them to act self-destructive in one way or another. They'll always feel bad/guilty about it afterwards, though.

Simple-minded: Nea can be naive at times and not really immediately understand things (atleast not as deeply) that others do. They may sometimes try to act like everyone else they see as smarter than them, but can't help often feeling sorta out of place. They think pretty literally most of the time, and though this trait has been kinda helpful in solving some of Nea's problems over the years, it can also make Nea seem childish in a way.

🍨• They're actually on good terms w/ most patients in the hospital, I think! <3  Some patients they're on the best terms w/ is their girlfriend Twyla Light (my partners self-insert :3), Mel N. Colly, Uni, Hemera (for the most part), Jay, Carrie, and Raye N. Bowe (one of my friends self-insert)! ♡♡ (Oh and Nea is also in an unofficial qpr w/ nurse Doom atm, but Shh you didn't hear it from me)

The least best terms is Barry. That's It . Nea respects him for his intelligence and such, but Nea would be lying if they said they didn't find Barry kinda annoying. (Pup does sorta(???) like him bcuz Uni likes him, and Nea trusts Uni, but Nea doesn't entirely like Barry on pups own accord. Particularly bcuz of Barry's mistreatment of Uni).
