I like to think Ashley has a ton of clothes and dresses, and she does was them when they start to smell from sitting around the whole time, but otherwise she wears the same two pairs of jean shorts and same top every day

Yes, I do! They are never left alone so long they start to smell, and we wash everything we do wear, but I own so many random sundresses and skirts and shoes!

My style is very different from our Sol Host though, so I don't get many chances to actually wear the clothes I like. But they are there!!!

My #1 post of 2022

my body has been wracked with grief since the shooting at Club Q on Trans Day of Remembrance, exactly 42 years after the shooting in Greenwich at multiple gay bars. That it happened in the same week a gay bar in nyc has had a brick thrown through their window 3 times. for all the moments we don’t make the news for.

i don’t have anything transformative to say and i’m beyond empty. yet, i still find myself dreaming through death and massacre and criminalization,

of a world where we live long lives

of a world i get to meet you

of a world we kiss our lovers and friends not worrying it’ll be the last

of a world where you get home safe, a world where you got home safe.

i’m waiting for your “got home safe” text. i’m waiting to hear the door unlock and to know you survived.

i feel desperate to keep going, not out of spite but dedication. for every moment taken away from us i will carry you with me. and if an early grave comes for me we’ll still find a way forward.

it wasn’t your time and you’re still gone. rest in peace is a cheap salve but i hope you find it; rest and peace.

For starting points, I recommend just listening to their most popular songs. I will say this about every band's most popular music, but it is popular for a reason!!

Now here's a quick breakdown of the albums. I'm going to give a short description of each, and input some personal opinions. (Excluding Evening Out With Your Girlfriend and Take This to Your Grave, because I feel like they're best to get into after you've gotten into the later stuff.):

From Under The Cork Tree (2005): The heaviest of all the albums listed. Definitely reminiscent of their early punk rock roots. Iconic with its long, random song titles. Essential for understanding the band's start and progression. I think every band's "breakthrough" album says a lot about them. This album is special to me, because it was my starting point.

My favorites from FUTCT:

A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me"

Infinity On High (2007): More sonically experimental than FUTCT. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd recommend it as a starting point. It feels the most transitional out of all their albums. This is not to discredit it in any regard. The album is great! Personally, I didn't get really invested in it until after I got really invested in the others that were out at that point. (Everything except MANIA, as it did not exist.)

Folie à Deux (2008): I'm not able to be objective in any sense about this album. Lyrically my favorite album. It is my favorite, and I highly recommend listening to it from start to finish. This album has a perfect flow. At minimum, on your first full listen you need to have it in order rather than on shuffle. Every song is my favorite, so the three I'm about to list are my most recent obsessions. This list changes every few months.

Save Rock And Roll (2013): Fall Out Boy's return album!! If you want to get invested, watch The Young Blood Chronicles!! Each song from this album has a music video, and they all tie in like a movie. This album is so fun sonically!! A little poppy! Securing that pop punk+rock title!! If you want a mix of yelling and ballad, this is the album for you.

Alone Together

American Beauty/American Psycho (2015): This album has a lighter sound. Not boring by any means, but it is their most mainstream. I think you understand what I mean without further explanation. My input is the same as my starting point with this ask. The songs are popular for a reason!!

MANIA (2018): A bit sonically experimental in comparison to the other albums. This album definitely shows life experience and a wide variety of influences. To me, it feels like a very natural progression from their older stuff. Lyrically, some of the same themes are there. They're just being expressed with an older, more lived mindset. This is one of my favorite albums. I think it flows well, and is fun to listen to while still giving me emotional feels.

I think that's the full introduction I want to give! I'm sure you'll dive in and form your own opinions, but I hope this is at all a helpful guide. Let me know what you think as you listen!! I'm so excited that you're giving them a try! I'm also entirely willing to make an introduction to the band post in terms of the members and lore. Lately I've been seeing a lot of people saying "Ashley Graves is a transfem icon", so let me set the record straight and prevent any further misinformation.

I am NOT a transfem icon. The correct term is transfem idol.

Andrew justifies his blogging as a way to let out his deep dark desires but honestly he just corrupts her even more.

He writes about some new kink he has and then checks obsessively for the notes like a madman.

Also wouldn't him getting caught because he got caught up because he mentioned some very specific detail or forgot to clear his history or log out would be sooo funny.

Also him adressing in those love letter posts to Ashley as beloved. And her having this thought that she thinks it's about her, but it couldn't be, but he writes about his sister, but what if he is not... Ashley literally short circuits.

Andrew would tell himself that engaging with his darker thoughts through fiction is the healthiest way to go about it which is correct yeah but Andrew doesn't exactly do it in the best way possible

Ashley is way too insecure no matter what she would never assume assume it's her but she loves reading the beloved and addressing her posts to her own beloved whenever she can she got that little itch of hope that maybe he does actually read them

These two share one shitty laptop between the both of them I'm pretty sure and one day Andrew's tiredness (sleeping pills) actually win and he falls asleep and Ashley sees he's logged in. She never lets him live it down.
