ok not to be that guy but like. labor rights and working class rights can coexist with 24h services and late amenities. its certainly hard to do so without worker exploitation in this political and social environment, it’s not a conflict likely to resolve overnight. but 24h services are important and especially valuable to those of us that are disabled or are on a different circadian rhythm. in fact more professional, health, and government services should be available or at least possible to work on asynchronously (if applicable) during late or odd hours, while workers also get sufficient pay for their labor and proper consistent scheduling. this would be much easier on the workers with night schedules if the entire professional world didn’t grind to a halt at 5pmEST

If there's one thing I've seen over and over again in the Dracula Daily + Re: Dracula fandom, it's the desire for an animated adaptation. Not of media-inspired-by, but of Dracula itself. And so, I've made:

...something that is decidedly not animated.

Yet.

I'm hoping to get Dracula Reanimated (tentative name) in exactly 1 year from now, by the end of DracDaily's 2025 run, perhaps even the beginning of it if I'm really good. But in all honesty, it could take till 2026 given the teeny complication that 1) I've no animation skills whatsoever 2) fulltime job.

So, I hope you'll stay around for the next 2 years at least to see this completed.

In the meanwhile, if you'd like to support a project by actual professionals, try @theholmwoodfoundation . It's a found footage horror fiction podcast by @georgiacooked and @fiotrethewey set in a time long after the events of Dracula, and yet the characters find themselves haunted (literally) by vestiges of the past.

Buck sighs, and when the next call comes in he answers.

“Buck,” Eddie spits, and Buck can tell from the background noise he’s in a car. “Where did you go?”

“Sorry, Eddie, I just needed—”

“I was about to call the fucking police, Buck,” Eddie interrupts. “You can’t just disappear, not after—”

He cuts himself off. Even here, alone on the beach, Bobby’s ghost haunts them.

“I’m sorry,” Buck says.

Eddie releases a breath. “You’re okay?”

“Fine.”

“When are you coming back?”

Buck chews his lip. “I might just, um. I think I’m gonna spend the night with Maddie.”

“Buck.”

“I just need some time, Eddie. Please.”

Eddie’s quiet for a long time. “You’ll be home tomorrow?”

Home sticks in his throat like glass. “Yeah. I can—I’ll drive you and Chris to the airport, if you need.”

“We don’t,” Eddie says, voice a little curt, and the glass slices that much deeper. “We’ll talk tomorrow?”

“Okay,” Buck agrees. “Tomorrow.”

“Okay. Goodnight, Buck.”

“Night.”

Buck cracks a window when he hangs up and turns off the truck, breathes in the salty air. He finds a hoodie in the backseat, balls it up into something resembling a pillow, and curls up as best he can. Every ache and pain from the day makes itself known as he tries to get comfortable, but his exhaustion eventually wins out, and he falls asleep to the sound of the ocean.

No one bothers him all night.
