Billions of deaf ears on a billion deaf heads. You should've heard the cheers. Could you, Atreides, swimming around in that golden head? Maybe to an outworlder it's all clamp, no noise, just blind ants. Swarming down on Giedi Prime at a hammerhead crawl with the Warlord Emperor in tow settled the ripples. four years later, RESREC is officially done. in 2020, transitioning out of tabula rasa, i basically barged into the rebranding process of my friends’ music/artist collective. up until that point, i did a short podcast series called TITLE NOT FINAL, which lasted about four episodes and was cut short during COVID-19. then i decided to basically whip up a whole logo in phonto and picsart in maybe an hour.

i have a deep affection for logo design, and my goal for the RESREC identity was to make something you can basically use as some kind of weird seal of approval. a sticker, maybe. it must’ve been like my first real foray into logo design, and i could not be more grateful.

i have my own thoughts on how RESREC was handled. nothing serious thankfully, or at least not that i know of. but in retrospect, i should’ve asked myself how long it could even stand on its own. i don’t think anyone involved did. too many ideas either evolved into better things or stayed as ideas, like a zine that sadly never came through. and i can’t even tell you how heartbreaking it was to never see lake atree come into fruition. we were past the days of tabula rasa, but there was nowhere else to go after that.

i’m still grateful to be a big part of RESREC. but i’m also grateful to be a big part against RESREC (in more ways than one). i hope everyone involved is already doing better without it because i always saw it as some sort of stepping stone for something greater, and it kind of already is. i’d argue the spirit of it lives on through house of friends, which i’m not a part of, but i have designed at least maybe one thing for them.

A meeting of the India Country Chapter of the Himalayan University Consortium (HUC) held on September 27, 2023 was jointly organized by @icimod and hosted at @iitroorkee campus. Directors of IIT Roorkee, WII, NIH, vice chancellors of TERISAS and Martin Luther Christian University along with Deans and Heads from Graphic Era University, Shoolini Institute of Biotechnology and Management Science, JNU, ATREE, University of Kashmir, HNB Garhwal University, and G B Pant NIHE Discussions on biodiversity exploration, monitoring of glaciers in all three parts, AI and landside data science studies, species conversation, higher education and transformation, regulated tourism, and the current scenario at respective institutions took place. Members of the Chapter arrived at consensus that resources will be mobilized from existing research projects and education programs in each member institution. Members have agreed on a concrete plan for action for 2024. Nominations for vacant Steering Committee Member representing India will be submitted for review and endorsement by the end of 2023.
