Constructing the Future: The Vitality of Building Information Modeling Courses
Technological breakthroughs are causing a rapid evolution in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries, changing the way projects are conceived, built, and managed. Building Information Modelling (BIM), a cutting-edge methodology that combines data and digital tools to improve project outcomes and streamline procedures, is at the forefront of this revolution. Building information modelling courses are becoming more and more important as BIM continues to gain popularity. Building Information Modeling (BIM) revolutionizes the construction industry by serving as a sophisticated digital visualization tool that accurately represents both the physical attributes and functional elements of a building project.
This innovative technology functions as a centralized hub, fostering seamless collaboration among all key stakeholders such as architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners. By offering a comprehensive and interactive platform, BIM facilitates the integration of various disciplines, ensuring that every team member can contribute effectively to the project. When it comes to equipping people with the skills necessary to fully utilise this revolutionary technology, BIM courses are an essential part of any professional's toolbox. These all-encompassing classes cover a wide range of crucial topics, including the basic concepts of BIM, expertise with many software programmes, setting up teamwork settings, and learning sophisticated modelling techniques. These courses, which combine theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, are carefully crafted to guarantee that participants gain the knowledge and abilities needed to confidently and competently negotiate the complex world of modern construction projects. Building information modeling's (BIM) outstanding ability to foster cooperation and communication amongst diverse project stakeholders is one of its main benefits. By highlighting the critical role of shared workflows and efficient coordination made possible by cutting-edge BIM tools, BIM offers a revolutionary solution in contrast to traditional construction techniques, which frequently face difficulties arising from fragmented interactions and isolated data repositories.
The BIM course curriculum emphasises how important it is to create collaborative settings and gives participants the knowledge and skills they need to use BIM technology for smooth communication and coordinated project efforts. Through the incorporation of BIM, project teams are able to cultivate a more streamlined and synchronised project environment that is characterised by improved integration and operational efficiency. In the end, this move towards a more integrated and cooperative project environment produces better project results and fosters higher client satisfaction, which further establishes BIM's standing as a revolutionary tool in the construction sector. Professionals can learn how to build precise, comprehensive digital models in BIM courses, which form the basis for all project stages. Potential problems can be found and fixed before construction starts by visualising the project in a virtual setting, which lowers the risk of expensive mistakes and redo. Accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and scheduling are also made easier by BIM, which improves project planning and resource allocation. Project completion on schedule and under budget is thus possible, improving overall productivity and profitability. New tools and technologies are continually being developed, and the AEC sectors are always changing. By keeping professionals abreast of the most recent developments in the industry, BIM courses help them stay competitive in a setting that is changing quickly. With topics ranging from cloud-based collaboration and parametric modelling to augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), BIM courses equip students with the knowledge and abilities to adopt and benefit from these technological advancements. This flexibility is essential for remaining competitive in a field that rewards innovation and ongoing development. In the construction sector, sustainability is becoming more and more of a priority, with a focus on energy efficiency and minimising environmental effect. BIM's contribution to sustainable design and construction methods is emphasised in BIM courses. Building Information Modelling (BIM) facilitates thorough study and simulation of building performance, empowering professionals to make well-informed decisions that optimise energy use, cut waste, and improve sustainability overall.  This emphasis on sustainability helps the environment and also complies with changing client and regulatory requirements. Planes, trains, boats, automobiles and even feet. During the past decades and centuries, global travel and human migration have made all of us more worldly — from our broadening awareness of the world beyond our birthplaces, to our more sophisticated palates, to our immune systems that are increasingly challenged by unfamiliar bacteria and viruses. In the elderly, these newly imported pathogens can gain the upper hand frighteningly quickly. Unfortunately, however, vaccination in this age group isn’t as effective as it is in younger people. Now a study conducted in mice by Stanford Medicine and the National Institute of Health’s Rocky Mountain Laboratories provides tantalizing evidence that it may one day be possible to rev up an elderly immune system with a one-time treatment that modulates the composition of a type of immune cell. The treatment significantly improved the ability of geriatric animals’ immune systems to tackle a new virus head on, as well as to respond vigorously to vaccination — enabling them to fight off a new threat months later.

History They Didn't Teach You In School
Scholars have left him out of the history books and Hollywood couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge his existence either. He was Howard Hughes’ top engineer and lifelong best friend. This is about Frank Mann, the hidden genius behind much of Howard Hughes’ success in the world of aviation and mechanics. Frank Calvin Mann (November 22, 1908 – November 30, 1992) was an African American engineer who was known for his participation in many Howard Hughes's projects including the Spruce Goose. He also starred in the Amos 'n' Andy radio show. Apparently, his lifelong friendship with Hughes was instrumental in opening doors for Mann's exceptional talents.
A native of Houston, Texas, Frank Calvin Mann's parents wanted him to become a schoolteacher, but from childhood, he had a natural ability to fix things. At age 11, he had his own mechanic shop. As a teenager, he worked alongside airplane mechanics, repairing engines. By the ago of 20, he had designed and built several of his own Model-T cars. It was unheard of in the 1920s for a Black man to have anything to do with cars, trains, or airplanes. His life-long friend Howard Hughes was instrumental in opening doors for Mann's exceptional talents.
Mann attended the University of Minnesota and UCLA where he earned a mechanical engineering degree. World War II equipment that revolutionized military weaponry would not exist if not for his involvement. Incredibly, few Americans are aware of Frank Mann. He was the first Black commercial pilot for American Airways. He was also a distinguished military officer. In 1935, following Italy’s invasion of Ethiopia, Frank Mann flew reconnaissance missions for the Ethiopian army.
He served in the World War II Army Air Corps and was the primary civilian instructor of the famous Tuskegee Airmen in 1941. He left Tuskegee after a rift with the U.S. government, which didn't want the Squadron, an all-Black unit, flying the same high caliber of airplanes as their White counterparts. An angry Mann had refused to have his men fly old "World War I biplane crates," because his airmen had proven themselves as equals.
Though they were being given inferior equipment and materials, their squadron never lost a plane, bomber, or pilot, and they were nicknamed the "Red Tails.” After the war, Mann was instrumental in designing the first Buick LeSabre automobile and the first communications satellite launched for commercial use.
His pride and joy was a miniature locomotive enshrined in the Smithsonian Institute, Mann also played a principal role in the Amos ‘N’ Andy radio show. He moved back to his hometown in the 1970s.
Frank Mann died November 30, 1992 in Houston.

Page 1 & 4. ---- Guns Again Quell Outbreak at "Model Pen;" 64 "Tough Eggs" Transferred to Cherry Hill Branch: 13 Leaders of Revolt Face Arraignment Before Magistrate Today ---- Prisoners Reveal Goal of "More Time Off" for Good Conduct in Mass Uprising: Also Hit Preparation of Food: Insurrection Chiefs Moved in Handcuffs ---- By WALTER HAZLETT Four hundred prisoners at the Eastern Penitentiary at Graterford went on a noisy rampage late yesterday afternoon after more than 24 hours of peace at the institution.
The new outbreak came shortly before 64 active participants in Saturday's riot were being transferred from the modern, attractive prison in the Perkiomen Valley to the ancient, dungeon-like branch of the institution at Cherry Hill.
In the meantime 13 known ringleaders in Saturday's outbreak were placed in a temporary "Klondike" at Graterford and will be arraigned before a magistrate in Norristown this morning, charged with inciting to riot, arson and destruction of State property.
The convicts outburst yesterday was very mild compared to their rioting on Saturday when they destroyed property valued at $40,000 and endangered lives of their guards and fellow prisoners during the melee.
The 400 prisoners, all from one cell block, had been given their usual period of recreation in the yard during the afternoon and at 5.30 P. M. they were ordered to return to their cells. Several of them shouted defiance at the orders of the prison guards and moved in a group away from the cell-block entrance.
Quick action was required. The guards realized that if the convicts were given many minutes to organize they would be out of hand again and the prison property would once more be the scene of a dangerous riot,
A hurry call was sent and the 43 State Police and 20 State Highway Patrolmen who were on duty inside the prison buildings, were sent to the scene.
The 60-odd State men, armed with machine guns, shot-guns and tear gas, marched out into the prison

Under the muzzles of rifles, 63 prisoners, who were found guilty of active participation in Saturday's riot at the Eastern Penitentiary at Graterford, were transferred last night to the Cherry Hill plant of the institution, 21st st. and Fairmount ave. The convicts are shown above as they arrived at the Cherry Hill prison and were marched, handcuffed in pairs, across the small courtyard and into a cell block yard. They formed a long line around the prisoners who were yelling, cursing and threatening the guards.
Quelled By Guns Once the guns were trained on the convicts they became submissive. They were marched back into their cells with- out further difficulty. No shots were fired, none was injured and no tear gas was used.
A few minutes later a large bus escorted by two automobiles bearing State troopers and highway patrolmen, armed with rifles, short-arms and riot sticks, departed from Graterford with the first of the 64 convicts transferred to Cherry Hill. A second trip was made later.
The hard-faced convicts, a few of them smiling, but most of them glum, made the trip handcuffed in pairs. The first batch arrived at the prison at 21st st. and Fairmount ave. a few minutes before 7 P. M.. and the others reached their new Jail at 10 P. M.
75 to Be Moved The transfers, which prisoners regard as one of the most severe punishments, are not at an end. prison officials indicated, and ultimately approximately 75 men will pay for their part in the mad rampage by serving the balance of their sentence in the comparatively cramped quarters at Cherry Hill.
Prison officials at Graterford worked throughout the day to weed the guilty from the not guilty and their task was virtually completed last night.
In addition to the 63 who were transferred. 50 convicts who had been under suspicion were sent back to their cells at Graterford.
Those who were shifted to Cherry Hill last night were installed temporarily in vacant cells scattered throughout the plant and arrangements for lodging them permanently will be made this morning.
They were described as being, almost without exception, "hard men."
Previous to the new disturbance everything had been quiet yesterday behind the massive walls at Graterford, but it was a highly artificial quietude which accentuated rather than disguised the tenseness which followed Saturday's riot.
Prison officials announced that the institution was following its normal Sunday routine. Visitors were admitted as usual. Convicts played baseball on the prison recreation grounds. The wreckage of the prisoners' mad stampede had been cleared away and the buildings had resumed a semblance of orderliness. But the prison was far from normal.
Cooped up in a large screen pen at one extreme of the yard were the 158 prisoners who participated in the outbreak, awaiting their turn to be called before prison officials to give their account of the affair.
Forty-three State troopers and 20 members of the State Highway Patrol, many of them armed with rifles, were stat stationed within the corridors to reinforce the prison's staff of guards in the event of another emergency.
And over the whole plant there hung a hush which made it difficult to realize that 1700 prisoners were in the place.
Aimed at Penal Laws The investigators, Dr. Guy T. Holcombe, president of the board of trustees; Warden Herbert A. Smith, Assistant Warden Elmer Leithiser and Dr. Oscar E. Gerney, a trustee, were not long in laying bare the motive for the disorders.
One of the first participants taken before the committee stated bluntly that the riot had been a demonstration designed to call to the attention of the public in general the convicts' demands that the penal laws be revised to permit "time off for good behavior."
"There is no future for the men to look forward to," the prisoner complained. "A man could be a good prisoner for five years and not get anything for it. We want a law d passed giving time off for good behavior. The men have been lying around and just brooding about it.
"There was nothing premeditated. It was just like an explosion. But we thought it was the only way we could make the outside take notice."
A Mass Protest The other prisoners, as they were questioned in turn, confirmed the statement that the riot was in reality a demonstration. Several criticized the food served the convicts, admitting that its quality was t satisfactory but insisting it was not p well prepared in the kitchen.
To Dr. Holcombe, who had scarcely rested since the outbreak occurred Saturday morning, the riot was significant in bringing to public c attention the need for segregating p specific types of prisoners in specific institutions. Out of the episode, he of hopes, will arise a new conception of th the purpose of the institution.
"When work was first begun at Graterford it was planned to segregate within this prison four or five different types of prisoners and to be have in this one institution four pa or five different systems of discipline," he said.
"The theory was that the more a unruly men would soon realize that they were losing privileges and w would have an incentive for good re behavior.
"It doesn't work," he declared emphatically. "We must have one type a of discipline for the whole institution. You cannot have prisons in within prisons. And you cannot be manage 1800 men who have not been classified by one single system of discipline.
"This was demonstrated here yesterday. Hard-boiled prisoners must be kept in a hard-boiled cell block."
Graterford does not have a cell block for isolation of prisoners, although one is being built.
Present Time Shorter Under the Ludlow act of 1923, judges are required to impose a minimum sentence of not more than one-half the maximum sentence permitted by law, it was explained, while under the law which was effective prior to that time years or months were deducted from sentences for good behavior. Actually, the time served under the p present law is shorter than under the former law, it was said, but the prisoners do not realize this. The prison population, which has access to newspapers, is aware that 19 changes in the law have been proposed by various committees on penal affairs and is also cognizant co of the fact that a special session of the Legislature is in prospect.
Hits Agitators For this reason the leaders decided that the present is a propitious time to bring the convicts' demands p before the public, hoping that sympathy will be aroused and new legislation rushed through.
"We are not arguing with them about the law," Dr. Holcombe said. "We have nothing to do with that. We are merely asking them their reasons.
"The men we have questioned thus far are not the ringleaders. They are the followers the fellows who, if they were not in jail, would be in the front row applauding a soap-box orator, but never would be the man on the soap-box. We know fairly well who the leaders are and we are leaving them until last.
"But we want to get this questioning completed as quickly as possible. Those men have been in the wire cage ever since yesterday. Fortunately, it didn't rain a drop here during the night, although there were heavy showers all around us. However, we don't want to have them exposed to the weather any longer than necessary"
Dr. Holcombe declared the board of trustees is completely in accord with the proposal that prisoners be classified by institutions. Under this plan the Cherry Hill institution would be for convicts requiring the maximum severity of discipline, and the Graterford branch for men requiring a moderate discipline, while the disciplinary system at the prison at Pittsburgh would lie between. The State Penitentiary at Rockview, which is without a wall, would be for cases requiring the lightest discipline.
"Repentance" Seen The attitude of the prisoners before the investigating committee was termed "repentant", although it was said there had been evidence of insolence in at least one case.
Dr. Holcombe was visibly tired from his long hours at the penitentiary, but he insisted he would continue until the affair was cleared up. As he spoke he sat in a partitioned office in which virtually every pane of glass had been smashed.
On the desk in front of him stood a large silver loving cup, battered almost beyond recognition. The engraving on its bashed-in side showed it had been presented to the penitentiary by the Pennsylvania S. P. C. A. in recognition of the heroic work of convicts in rescuing horses from a fire which leveled a barn near the prison on July 25, 1928.
Another barn was leveled by fire Saturday, but this time it was the convicts who applied the torch.
Damage Calculated Engineers worked throughout the night drawing up a detailed estimate of the damage which the 158 convicts caused in their mad stampede through the buildings. They set the total at $37,448.18. but in the belief that a large number of minor items had been overlooked, Dr. Holcombe raised the estimate to approximately $40.000.
Of this amount, $16,577 was in damage to permanent structures. distributed as follows: A block, $142.50; C block, $972.25; D block, $151.25; E block, $4256; kitchen, $1211; service corridor, $45; service building, $625; industrial building, $8090. Seven per cent was added to the estimate for small items.
The new security cell black for isolation cases, which is under construction, was damaged to the extent of $42:30; the mule garage and its contents, $4333.50; two tool shanties, $1792.50; saw mill, $1240; oil house, $25; machine shop, $845.69; barn No. 11, $9844.29; equipment storage building, $630; brick storage shed, $1448.60; tire storage building, $733.30.
"Is the trouble over for the time being?" Dr. Holcombe was asked.
He smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
"We had no warning about yesterday's riot, so who knows?" he answered.
///
Graterford Official Lauds Police in Riot The efficiency of the State Police and State Highway Patrol in subduing the frenzied rioters at the Graterford branch of the Eastern Penitentiary was highly praised yesterday by Dr. Guy T. Holcombe, president of the board of trustees of the in- stitution.
"They did their work extremely well," Dr. Holcombe said, "and put a stop to the disorders without a bit of bloodshed."

I've recently done a little bit of research for some stuff adjacent to the production of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes that I'm in right now and, in checking whether certain scientific institutions and inventions would have existed during the time of the play, I discovered something kind of interesting: many of the ones I've looked up were coincidentally established within 5-10 years of the setting.
The first bunch of Sherlock Holmes stories, the source materials for this play, came out between 1887 and 1893. The Natural History Museum? Opened fully in 1883. The Prime Meridian? Officially established in 1884. Tower Bridge? Built between 1886-1894. The Tube running northwest from Baker Street? 1880. London's first electrical power station? 1882. Those are just the ones I happened to look up. Telegrams are common in the Sherlock Holmes tales, and by the later Sherlock Holmes stories, he's using a telephone and even automobiles are mentioned.
Reading the Sherlock Holmes stories with that context of a world full of rapid changes and advancements, I feel like it comes across differently. It seems to say, "There's a scientific answer for everything." His unique detecting style, based on simple observations, made it seem like the age-old problems of crime and criminals could be defeated by logic and reasoning. I think there's a level of idealism, that even the most difficult crimes are solvable and bad actors are no match for modern scientific knowledge.
Reading Sherlock Holmes cases often gives the comfortable feeling of order and justice being served. I think that's the same reason true crime content is so popular today in another age of rapid digital advances-- and if we guess the solution, it's doubly satisfying. It's also why Sherlock Holmes is so easily translated to modern day.
But that also makes me think about another book and another equally iconic character that came out around that same time period: Dracula, published in 1897. And Dracula takes a lot of the same themes and seems to say the exact opposite.
I think one of the biggest things that surprises first-time readers of Dracula is how modern Dracula feels and how much technology is used in the book. Like the Sherlock Holmes stories, it was set in roughly 'modern day' when it was written. The 'good guys' use trains, telephones, typewriters, and even blood transfusions. But when Dracula, an old-world monster, arrives in their modern newfangled city of London, all of that technology is useless against him. And so is any ability of theirs to deduce a simple scientific explanation for what's going on.
When Dracula starts sneaking into their friend’s house and sucking her blood each night, the signs are obvious, right down to the puncture marks on her neck. The reader and audience knows what’s up waaaay before the characters do. It’s infuriating! You want to jump up and down and yell, “A VAMPIRE IS KILLING HER!” But why don’t they see what’s right in front of their faces? Because they’re thoroughly modern upper-middle class British people who live in a scientifically advanced world and believe in reason.
The chaos of true evil is more powerful than logic and reason. To defeat him, they need to get on his level and use superstition and religion and folklore. It's the polar opposite of a story like "The Hounds of the Baskervilles," published five years later.
All that said... I would love to see a Sherlock Holmes and Dracula crossover. How long would it take Holmes to deduce that he had run into a real vampire? Would he make all the correct observations and keep coming to the wrong conclusions? Would he be able to accurately predict the patterns of Dracula's behavior when his opponent has superhuman abilities and can transform into multiple different types of animals?
Or, given Holmes' somewhat addictive and adrenaline-driven personality, his superior attunement to his senses, his surprising revival from the dead, and his innate instinct to 'catch his man' at any cost... would he himself make the most dangerous vampire of all?

Non-Benders
The non-benders were not oppressed. This in response to a Reddit thread I saw which I’ll link. https://www.reddit.com/r/legendofkorra/s/VIz7NDebH7 where they posted this screenshot which I’ll also post here.
Tumblr media
We’re gonna start from the left, move down down the column, and then to the next.
Societal Advantages:
Yes, the pro-benders can only be benders but we know it’s not the only sport they play. Firstly, we have Kuai Ball which we see being played in The Ember Island Players. This is basically volleyball and so I’m sure they have radio coverage too for whatever teams are playing. We also know for sure that Automobile shows and automobile racing are a big thing in Republic City already. Then we have the mental games like Pai Sho and Elemental Solitaire. Considering how much more spiritual the avatar world is than ours, those are most likely sports with celebrities and whatnot too. And let’s not forget the Movers. Bolin is a bender and he doesn’t even use his bending in those. He pretends to be a water bender and they use horrible special effects to make it work. And what are the societal advantages? Mako and Bolin are still broke. They only got that space above the gym because they impressed Toza when they were about to get beat up by the Triple Threat Triad as children. That’s not a societal advantage. Someone decided to let them stay at one of their properties. That happens to anyone.
Asami and Hiroshi are the only known non-benders to attend Tarrloks gala, yes. But that’s because Asami is the main non-bender character and he’s her father. We don’t know if they’re the only ones there - they’re most likely not. They’re just the only non-venders we’re focusing on. And let’s say they were the only non-benders present; it’s Tarrlok’s gala. Tarrlok doesn’t like non-benders so he didn’t invite them. That does not mean every high society gala has non-benders. That’s extremely doubtful since - as seen in both shows - most of the wealthy and powerful people we see in the world are non-benders! The Earth Kingdom Royals, The Beifongs(bar Toph and her kids), Mai’s family, Ty Lee’s family, Chan and all the noble kids at Ember Island, Asami’s family, Varrick, BOTH Presidents of Republic City.
Physical Advantages:
1. This first point is just dumb. They’re all vulnerable to exploitation at the hands of one another. The Triple Threat Triad goes after both benders and non-benders. They exploited Mako and Bolin for most of their lives. Mako and Bolin’s parents are both
2. Meelo beats the non-benders moreso as a gag than anything else. Not only that, but Tenzin’s children are prodigies. We know that benders don’t have a huge advantage against non-benders because we have badass non-benders who fight benders. Mai, Suki, Ty Lee, and Asami chief among them. Ty Lee even went on to teach it to the Kyoshi Warriors. Oh, and let’s not forget super-criminal Zaheer who was an extreme threat BEFORE he got Airbending. Or Aang’s own son, Bumi. And let’s not forget the damn Equalists. Amon was the only bender and they were whooping everybody.
3. Tarrlok’s mass arrest showcased the strength disparity between trained combatants and civilians, not benders and non-benders. At best, you have an argument for the unfair distribution of power that was seen in the Council. But there was no rule against non-benders being on that Council. Sokka and an Air Acolyte were on that council at one point. The current iteration of the council didn’t have any non-benders in it. And that says more about them having no checks in place to insure there’d always be a balance of representation on the council, than the Council itself as an institution.
Economic Advantages:
To be honest this entire category is ridiculous as the only wealthy people we really see in this series are all non-benders. The only exceptions are the Fire Royals. I suppose Aang and Katara’s kids have money and so does Korra’s family, but it’s doesn’t seem to be to the level Asami and Varrick do. But let’s address it anyway.
1. There’s no point here. Mako worked a temp job that gives you a decent amount of money in a short amount of time. There’s plenty of jobs that do that. I’m sure there’s plenty of them that don’t require any bending.
2. Only benders are allowed to participate in pro-bending. Pro-bending being a sport that only has one championship tournament at the end of the season for the top 16 teams. A tournament which each team has to pay an exorbitant amount of money to participate in, for the chance of winning the jackpot prize. Only people who can afford cars are allowed to participate in illegal Automobile racing which is an extremely popular illegal sport.
3. Already addressed Bolin and Mako’s living situation above.
4. The Dragon Flats Borough has a high non-bender population and it’s pretty much run by the triads. But it’s run by the triads who are also poor and use it as a recruiting ground. This either means the Triads have non-benders in their groups(and I’m pretty sure they do), or that the borough has benders, they just have more non-benders. Again, Bolin and Mako are both benders who are flat out broke. Yakone must’ve started out broke too since he had to become a crime boss. I’m sure there’s a bunch of broke non-benders who we weren’t introduced to.
Legal Advantages:
1. We only see metal-benders on the police force. However, Lu and Gang are detectives(before they’re demoted) and they don’t seem to be benders at all. I think it’s safe to say there’s plenty of non-benders on the force. They’re probably just not on the…assault squads? What do we call those?
2. Tenzin opposed Tarrlock’s mass arrest on the Council. Tarrlok just had the majority vote. And it’s heavily implied he only got them to vote with him because he was blackmailing them. Korra and her team then go and oppose the arrest in person. And again, I’ve already addressed this above. The Council has had non-benders and it hasn’t existed that long. They just needed more rules around it. But they decided to disband it and have a democratic election instead. Lmao. More proof that it really wasn’t oppressive.
3. Did the department obviously have the power and resources to deal with the triad? Because Lin’s always talking about how spread thin they are and how they can’t afford to have to protect all these people and places. The Triad also isn’t stupid. They’re smart about doing stuff like this and there’s probably need for a legal basis to keep them in custody.
Political Advantages:
Both of these points have been addressed.
Closing Comments:
Systemic oppression results in individual oppression as well and vice versa. This is never seen in the series. Even Azula and Ozai had no problems with nonbenders; Ursa was a non-bender. Azula, a princess, had no issues with Mai and Ty Lee being non-benders. Katara’s entire family was made up of non-benders. The North Pole royals were non-benders and Paku wanted to, and did, marry Kya - a non-bender. Azula had a crush and fantasized about marrying and having children with Chan, a non-bender. Zuko dated and married a non-bender, Mai. And the creators said they married. Izumi means water fountain and is a nod to the fountain incident between Mai and Zuko as kids. Mako has no issue dating a non-bender, Asami. Korra had no issue dating a non-bender, Asami. Tenzin had no issue marrying a non-bender, Pema. Suyin has no issue having a non-bending daughter(before she got airbending). There’s no actual prejudice seen in the series between benders and non-benders. Most of the royals are non-benders in the base series, and the Earth Kingdom still has a non-bending royal in Korra. Every President of republic city is also a non-bender. We also know the Cabbage guy created Cabbage Corp which produces vehicles and other technologies. It supplies airships to the earth nation Air Force. Non-benders own Avatar’s version of Lockheed Martin. The wealthiest people we meet in the show are non-benders. The most powerful villain was originally a nonbender. Bumi became a commander of the second division of the United Forces. There’s no laws or rules preventing non-benders from entering any place or role in the government. In fact, the shadies shit we see being done is by non-benders. Varrick hired the triple threats to force Asami into a deal that one time. And again, the fact that nearly all the families in the show are mixed with benders and non-benders really shows that there’s no concept of non-benders being lesser for lacking bending. At least not a widespread one.
The only thing I wish they did do was allow Non-benders to at least attain energy bending through cultivation. And I lowkey think it’s implied they can, as we know they can becomes sages and get to the spirit world and stuff.

Newspaper Helsingin Sanomat covered the government's announcement of an anti-racism campaign, set to launch between May and June.
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's (NCP) government initially announced the plan in the wake of last summer's far-right and racism scandals which threatened to topple the governing coalition.
The campaign aims to get organisations from different sectors — like labour, sports, culture, civic groups, businesses, and other communities — to make specific pledges to fight racism and support equality.
"Primarily, we are looking for organisations with more influence as employers, leisure and education providers, but of course we also want to give individual citizens the opportunity to contribute," Katriina Nousiainen, Senior Expert at the Prime Minister's Office, told Finnish News Agency STT.
The campaign is scheduled to last for a year and Nousianen said it is still being worked out how various organisations and individuals will get involved in the campaign.
Finland's next F1 hope
Tabloid Iltalehti ran an in-depth feature on Finland's next potential big racing star.
IL spoke with 17-year-old Tuukka Taponen while he was visiting his home in the Uusimaa municipality of Lohja.
The young racer's bedroom is decorated from floor to ceiling in trophies and medals won throughout various levels of competition. Taponen's most recent trophy came from winning the Formula Regional Middle East Championship — one of the feeder competitions into Formula One — this winter.
"It went beyond expectations. Everything went pretty much according to plan," Taponen said.
Finland's only current racer in Formula One is Valtteri Bottas on the Kick Sauber team, after Kimi Räikkönen retired from the competition in 2021.
Taponen spends most of his time outside of Finland, whether competing internationally or training at the Ferrari Driver Academy in Maranello, Italy. In addition to learning how to drive at speeds over 300 kilometres per hour, Ferrari also has the racing prodigy enrolled in Italian lessons.
Though he spends most of his time outside of Finland, the young Finn received an early exemption to get a driving licence before he turned 18 years old.
While in Finland, he will also visit with partners, including one in the South Ostrobothnian city of Seinäjoki, which is about a four-and-a-half hour drive from Lohja. Even though he has a licence, the Ferrari academy prospect has opted to take the train for this trip.
"I only drive to the train station by car. I can't drive such a long distance," Taponen laughed.
Fuel prices during strike
Ongoing political strikes are impacting many aspects of daily life in Finland, and tabloid Ilta-Sanomat spoke with an expert on how it will affect fuel prices.
It is difficult to predict the possible bump in fuel prices, Senior Adviser at the Finnish Information Centre of Automobile Sector Hanna Kalenoja told IS.
However, she said if the demand for liquid fuel outstrips supply during the strike, it could lead to a temporary increase in fuel prices.
Kalenoja stressed that even then the price increase would not last long, but it could be a short price spike, which would fall at the latest after the strike has ended.
So even if the price of fuel were to rise during the strike, it would not make a big dent in drivers' wallets.
"If someone had to fill up at a higher price one time, the next tank would very likely be at a more stable price level," Kalenoja said.
Kalenoja also pointed out that the strike will leave plenty of fuel-hungry lorries off of the highways, which should help the domestic supply of diesel last longer throughout the two-week strikes.
Ville Kaitila, a researcher at the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (Etla) agreed with Kalenoja that fuel would not run out in Finland.
"I don't know if there's any specific factor in the whole picture that would affect prices. [A price increase] could be driven by availability in certain regions, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that this would be certain," Kaitila said.
