That stupid one cloud thing automatically synchronized my files back to where they were when I ran out of room and disconnected months ago.
Good news, I have most of the file still on my pen drive.
Bad news, I lost everything I wrote today.
Cool. I am missing the last 60 pages of the draft now. Most of that I have on my tablet still, but I wrote almost 1k today on this laptop and its not there now.
I hate technology.

I've been busy trying to move my files to the original location because onedrive is an ass and didn't tell me it would create problems. I got scared and avoided my computer for a bit but I'm back now.
I thought onedrive would be a good alternative but no. I'll just stick to google drive :,).
How do you guys back up your stuff? I've always wanted autosync because I'm lazy as fuck but I didn't know how to do it. I used to just manually upload my files to google drive (I don't use docs, I use Word because I can write in it while the wifi's out) and call it a day, but there’s got to be a better way, right?
#interactive fiction#if: bewitched#twine if#interactive novel#development#i lost track of my tags#:(#i thought all of my files would get deleted but i managed to fix it#phew

Hi! Is ellipsus worth using and is it free? I keep seeing it pop up from time to time and I’m curious
I've been using it instead of Google Docs for like six months I think. And I always have it open in my browser, or use it on my phone, daily tbh.
It's built by people who are anti-AI and pro-fandom, with fan writing in mind, actually. It's very much focused on features for collaborative writing, but I don't cowrite and still find that it does everything I need.
Notable features:
Syncing across multiple devices. I had been using Google Docs for years because a major feature I need is to be able to access my writing from multiple different devices and locations. Ellipsus does this. And has gotten better (sometimes had problem of it not syncing on my phone and then when I opened on my laptop, it wouldn't update until I opened on my phone and forced a sync; but this has happened less frequently and it mostly autosyncs)
Drafts feature. My style of writing, I just don't do drafts that need to be separated out (I don't ever change large chunks of a work that I need to save the original). I think this is helpful for collaborative work. I actually use the drafts for my Outlines and Notes, so I have a quick link right there to access them, and they're kept within the document.
Writing Interface. It's pretty simple in style, which is actually good for writing. They do have a tool bar that you can leave up or hidden, with various formatting options, and an "outline" like Google Docs does (just put a header font in there and shows up on the outline and you have a quick link to jump around)
Cafe Mode I think they officially call it "focus mode" or something but it's a little coffee cup symbol so I think of it as that. This will make just the writing interface take up your whole screen for "distraction-free" writing. I don't use this, as I've been writing in word processors forever and it doesn't bother me to have the features/menus visible.
Timer I think it has a timer you can set. Again, I don't use this.
Collaborative Writing. I don't use this feature, but it looks very similar to how Google Docs sharing works with inviting/giving access to others.
Log-In. It will remember and keep you logged in on a device, but apparently only for set amount of time (unsure how long, as it seems to have random variation). But it is annoying that you can't just log-in with a password; it sends a code to your email. (I won't get into how I am so sick of "multi-factor" verification bs).
Reliability. So far it has never been "down". I do download a backup sometimes (they have several options for quickdownload of a document and are working on more) just out of paranoia.
It's free. But I can't say whether the creators will eventually go to a subscription model or something to cover the expense of the servers and other work (could probably check the "Support" section for any discussion of it - which is also pretty active as they look to develop features users are requesting, etc.)
TL;DR It's free and I do recommend it.

watched Civil War and yeah i have some hangups with it politically like everyone else but im much more pissed off about the kid journo shooting film. i love film, i almost exclusively shoot 35mm & 120. if i were a war photographer living out of a car and rucking all my shit every day, i would switch to digital so fast it would make your head spin. you're telling me she has chosen to carry around two Nikon metal bricks + a bunch of rolls of film, a developing tank and presumably a darkroom bag of some sort (not seen in the movie), powder or liquid dev chemicals, a film scanner, and a SMARTPHONE with a CAMERA IN IT ALREADY to view and upload the scans, not to mention all her undeveloped film canisters and all her developed negatives, protected from dust & debris, instead of
a digital camera optional: a laptop or some other wifi-enabled device, like the cellphone she already has (many digital cameras come with wifi autosync capabilities)
and none of the experienced journalists in the movie are anything other than interested/impressed by her setup. 36 exposures before you have to spool it back up (she's not using a self-winding camera, even), open the back of the camera - exposing it to the dust that's flying everywhere because ur embedded with soldiers in a war - unpack and load another roll, secure the old roll, wind your shit up... and it's not even like she doesn't need batteries for it, there's a light meter... alex garland deliberately made the decision to create a film that is politically incoherent, fine, he's not a journalist. he's a FILMMAKER and he should be held to a higher standard of filling insignificant plot holes under that subject's umbrella!!!

I am mom's spaghetti palms sweaty right now, was up into the wee hours of the morning with my game after realizing One Drive (Microsoft's "helpful" cloud syncing it pushes) was autosyncing all my game files (and other less important files) while I had them open working on them :')
I'll spare everyone the details of why that's bad but the tldr is it almost corrupted my whole game, but I fixed it and only lost some very basic formatting (in game menu adjustments and the font settings, which I am replacing anyway with something more readable). And a few small edits to some json files which again are easy to redo.
I already back up my game to a flash drive (yeah, I know I need to get Github) so I've banished One Drive from my desktop since there's no reason for it to be there.
Definitely don't recommend allowing One Drive to autosync files while you are actively working in any kind of database. Unfortunate that I didn't realize this was happening until it started giving me all these issues!

-= MONSTER PROM FAN SONG =-
DISCLAIMER: The music and vocals for this video were generated by AI. I do put a significant amount of effort into the videos, mixing and tweaking in post-processing audio software once the tracks are generated, but I recognize that many people will still not like it. I make these videos purely for fun and a love of the fandom, and don't claim to be an artist of any sort. If you don't enjoy them, that is okay. But if you do, thanks for bopping along!
*FINAL REUPLOAD! I promise. The last upload had loads of equalization / volume / clipping issues because, surprise, I don't know what I'm doing. BUT! I learned a lot, and now this version is much more consistent and sounds a lot better. THANKS FOR ENJOYING!
==== LYRICS ====
Yo, yo, yo, listen up, gather 'round,
It's Monster Prom, it's going down!
From Spooky High to the spooky camp too,
Where hearts beat fast and dreams come true.
Amira's fiery, yeah she's got that spark,
Brian's chillin' like a zombie hiding in the dark,
Oz may be yellow, but his nerve never flinches,
Vicky's fun and dorky, she's a tapestry of stitches,
Damien's a demon, from the 8th circle of hell,
Liam sips on only ethically sourced blood cocktails.
Miranda's a royal with a murderous twist,
Polly parties hard, she just can't resist.
Monster Prom, it's a crazy time,
Stats and secrets, we gotta decide,
Will we find love or be rejected fools?
Either way, we're gonna break all the rules!
Scott's a werewolf, dumb but true,
Vera's a boss, she'll run over you,
Calculester's a robot, with a gold heart,
Zoe's old as time but making a fresh start
Witches Joy, Faith, and Hope cast their spells,
Juan's selling potions, you can never tell,
In the auditorium, we're puttin' on a show,
In the library, we're makin' that cash flow
Monster Prom, it's a hell of a ride,
In the cafeteria, where fates collide,
With every choice, our story moves,
We'll find romance, or just improve!
Smarts, boldness, and creativity,
Charm, fun, and money, it's all you need,
From class to the gym, we're making moves,
In the bathrooms causing hijinks, getting smoove
So leave a good review, spread the word around,
Beautiful Glitch got us all spellbound,
Monster Prom, it's a night to remember,
With monsters in love, from Spring to December.
Monster Prom, it's the ultimate test,
Will we get a date, or leave depressed?
But in the end, we'll stand tall and loud,
At Monster Prom, where all love's allowed.
We've only got 3 weeks to make our night,
To seize every moment, and hold each other tight.
Who knew so many monsters could touch our hearts,
But we were young and unafraid, and ready to start!
So leave a good review, spread the word around,
Beautiful Glitch got us all spellbound,
Monster Prom, it's a night to remember,
With monsters in love, we're gonna break all the rules!
Monster Prom, it's the ultimate test,
Will we get a date, or leave depressed?
But in the end, we'll stand tall and loud,
At Monster Prom, where all love's allowed!

HERE WE GOOOOO!
😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?
A: Ugh. My very first rendition of By Deaths To Die in the HP fandom. It was just C R I N G E. That or my HP/Undertaker fanfic? Yikes.
🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?
A: T R A G ED Y, BABY! XD I love the angst.
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
A: Pretty much any time Eclipse is on screen in Lambs and Slaughters. xD He’s the funniest character, in my opinion.
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
A: Do cliffhangers count? xD
✍ Do you have a beta reader?
A: Only Google Docs spell check unfortunately.
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
A: Loss, for sure. My dad died this past fall after a long and painful battle with cancer and so that’s been something that’s been a common theme in my writing ever since his diagnosis.
🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?
A: Oh gosh! So far, probably either of my Blood Moon/Sun stories! They are the best! :)
✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
A: I love my writing and it’s so fun! :3 Whether it’s been my novels or my fics, I just love it!
💋 First kiss fics. Love em or hate em?
A: I like them! As long as that’s not the whole focus, you know? So much good stuff comes after the first kiss in a relationship! And not just the sex part either. The juicy, emotional stuff!
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
A: Yes! Though my choices do not always mesh. xD Hazbin Hotel soundtrack and Breaking Benjamin! LOL.
🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?
A: I know its base, but I use just Goggle Docs. That way I can go from writing on my computer to writing on the go on my phone when I need and it autosyncs.
⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?
A: The aforementioned HP By Deaths To Die fic unfortunately. What I did write on it is still up for posterity’s sake but I’m not interested in continuing it. I’ve lost interest in writing for that fandom over the years so I don’t imagine I’ll go back to it. But who knows!
🙋♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic?
A: Yeah, I’m not particularly shy about it but there are very few people I will discuss the details with. Only people like my bestie and my sister that I know won’t judge me (because they read/write it too xD).
🍦 What's the sweetest fic you've created so far?
A: This one is easy! I wrote a story called Whispers of Another Soul (it may be my only ever rated G fic actually xD) for my daughter that’s about a proto-M.X.E.S. meeting and making friends with Moon and eventually Sun via the network we see in the FNAF: SB Ruin DLC. I wanted to write something that she could read and she has me read it to her at bed time pretty regularly so I may just have to have it hardbound for her bookshelf. :)
🍷 Do you drink and write?
A: Yep! On occasion! Usually though, it’s just coffee but I do enjoy wine or a beer after dinner and I’m usually writing then.
🍆 Do you write the spicy stuffs? If so, what's your most popular nsfw fic?
A: Hoooooo yeah I do. xD To date, since I started writing online in 2007, my most popular fic with spice was my HP/Supernatural fic called His Companion Was The Grave but my favorite spicy works to write overall have been my Blood Moon/Sun ones in The Sun and Moon Show Fandom!
🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?
A: Aaaaalllll day every day. Surprisingly, it takes me a while to get a chapter out (Even longer if I’m trying to listen to things while I do or if my daughter is out of school) which, given my honestly absurd writing schedule, probably surprises my regular readers. I sit at my laptop for hours and hours. It’s honestly probably pretty unhealthy and come July, I’m going to be cutting my schedule down to twice a week instead of every other day.
💖 What made you start writing?
A: I’ve been fascinated by writing since fourth grade when I realized that “Holy shit, I can make anything happen on paper, any kind of world and person!”. It was like…the greatest epiphany of my life. We were doing a creative writing section in my class and I’ve never looked back. Thank you, Mr. Madison. All of the shameless literary porn I’ve put out into the world is all thanks to you. xD
💌 How do you feel about comments and feedback?
A: They are my favorite part of writing! :D I only actually started Tumblr at all because my readers wanted a place for easier audience engagement and I am super active in my comments sections! I love seeing fanart of my work and people making fics based on mine or inspired by it. It’s so flattering and I love it so much! :)
❌ What's a trope you will never write?
A: Ugggggghhhhhhh. Maybe the “Chosen One” trope or the “Insta-Love even though we were sworn enemies our whole lives” bullcrap. Relationships need struggle! And character growth! Go forth and trauma bond but don’t skip over the good stuff like the character/relationship development! Oh! Ending it all with “it was just a dream”. Yeah no. Just don’t.
💲 Would you ever open commissions?
A: Well I’m not an artist but yeah sure! If it was writing commissions! :) That could be fun!
🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?
A: Oh yeah. For my original Thaumaturgy novel trilogy I spent weeks researching. The same with any of my fics, really.
🏆 What's your most popular fic?
A: To date, it is my Companion Is The Grave Hp/Supernatural fic but it has been up for several years now and both of those fandoms are MASSIVE so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
🎃 Do you write fics for certain holidays? Which is your favorite holiday inspired fic?
A: I haven’t yet but I’m not opposed to it. :)
🎯 Have any of your readers accurately guessed major plot points? Care to share which?
A: Yes! I have one reader in particular that is really good at it! :) You know who you are! ;)
🎨 How do you feel about fan art of your stories?
A: I LOOOVVVEEEEEE IIITTTTTT! FEEEEEEEEEDDD MEEEEEEEE! XD But seriously, there are fanart has actually inspired some of my most beloved scenes! QuirkyFries has done so, so many amazing pieces for my work (like fifteen or so now?) and was the very first person to ever make fanart of my work. :) It’s super flattering.
📈 How many fics do you have?
A: As of this post, 50 on Ao3 though I’m not sure I ported over all of my fics from FFN when I migrated over. I started on FFN in 2007 and on Ao3 in mid 2012.
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
A: Outline, every time. If I don’t, I won’t finish them.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
A: I’m so stoked for MerMay! I’m doing a TSAMS/Subnautica fic with Leviathan boys! It will feature Blood Moon/Sun, Kill Code/Moon, and Eclipse/Solar/Ruin. ;)
🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
A: Don’t let the flames get you down but be willing to take constructive criticism. Not everyone who tells you that there are ways to make your work better is doing it to be mean-spirited. Your readers are one of your most valuable resources! :) Also, READ! Read long and read different things! Take note of what you like to see and what makes the reading easier to take in. That will help you learn how to format your own work better than almost anything.
💞 Who's your comfort character?
A: Sun and Moon. Definitely. xD
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
A: Uh…Blood Moon! Go!
🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?
A: I have so many! I really enjoy writing Kill Code and Eclipse right now. :)
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
A: Probably not in this post but I actually post snippets and such from my works here all the time so stay tuned! ;)
😬 Which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?
A: Oh my fucking-. xD Uhhhh…Most of them that are really spicy I guess? Probably my A/B/O ones? Or the super kinky ones? xD Actually, no, maybe that aforementioned HP/Undertaker one. God, that is so fucking embarrassing.
What leads you to consider a fic a success?
A: Whether people enjoy it! :)
✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?
A: Certain turns of phrase, especially when it comes to spicy scenes. xD It’s something I’m very conscious of and trying to remedy.
📚 Would you ever want to turn writing into a career?
A: I would love that so much! I’ve published four novels but I self-published and the biggest part of self-publishing is ADVERTISING and I’m just honestly fucking horrible at that? xD However, my works are available on Amazon and Kindle with one novel for teen audiences and the trilogy for adults! :) I can be found under the pseud C.L. McReynolds. <3
⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?
A: Mmmmm…it depends. Some are longer than others but my current writing schedule is every other day.
🤯 What's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
A: Hmm…I guess…political stuff? And the mystery genre is kind of tough for me.
💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?
A: Yes. In ‘For What Is Grief But Love…Persevering?’, my Solar tribute. I fucking bawled during that fic because it brought up so many of my feelings about losing my dad at the end of October and a lot of those feelings are still really raw, you know? It explores a lot of themes of grief and Jack’s new sentience coming to life at the same time that they lose Solar and he just doesn’t understand what he’s feeling and experiencing and WHY.
💥 How do you feel about criticism?
A: I don’t mind constructive criticism at all! But if you’re just being a dick, well…Go eat rocks, I guess? xD
🤭 Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?
A: I love funny tags. xD Like…’Enthusiastic But Uninformed Consent’ xD Or ‘Technically masturbation?’. I’ve been using the ‘cannibalism’ tag a lot writing for Blood Moon. Also ‘Polyamory’. xD
🥰 How do you feel about reader interaction? Are you open to receiving questions about your fics?
A: YES! ASK ME ALL THE THINGS! I LOVE IT! XD Any and all reader interaction I live off of.

Nitin Singhal, VP of Engineering (Data, AI, and Integrations) at SnapLogic
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/nitin-singhal-vp-of-engineering-data-ai-and-integrations-at-snaplogic/
Nitin Singhal, VP of Engineering (Data, AI, and Integrations) at SnapLogic

Nitin Singhal is a seasoned technology and product leader with over 25 years of experience in the industry. He currently serves as the Vice President of Engineering at SnapLogic, focusing on responsible integration of applications and systems, leveraging Agentic architecture to unlock data potential for a global audience.
Before his role at SnapLogic, Nitin was the Senior Director of Engineering at Twitter, where he led the Data Management and Privacy Infrastructure engineering functions. His work involved establishing data governance practices during a critical period for the company, ensuring responsible data usage and compliance with privacy regulations.
Nitin has also held various engineering and product leadership positions at prominent organizations, including Visa, PayPal, and JPMorgan Chase, where he contributed to significant advancements in data strategy and management.

It supports ETL/ELT, automation, API management, and secure deployments across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Features like SnapGPT and AutoSync enhance efficiency, enabling organizations to integrate and orchestrate processes seamlessly.
You have nearly 25 years of experience driving technology innovation. What first inspired you to pursue a career focused on using tech to solve complex problems, and how has that passion evolved with the rise of AI?
From the beginning of my career, I was captivated by the challenge of solving puzzles and the logical beauty of mathematics. This fascination naturally led me to explore how technology could address complex, real-world problems. Early in my career, I was inspired by the potential of technology to tackle issues like transaction fraud detection and data privacy risks. My passion has only deepened as AI has evolved, particularly with the advent of Generative AI. I’ve witnessed AI’s transformative impact, from empowering farmers with crop insights via smartphones to enabling everyday users, like my father, to navigate tasks such as tax filing easily. The democratization of AI technology excites me, allowing us to make a positive difference in people’s lives. This ongoing journey fuels my commitment to advancing AI in ways that are not only innovative and efficient but also safe, responsible, and accessible to all.
What are the biggest risks businesses face when relying on outdated technology in the age of advanced AI?
Relying on outdated technology poses significant risks that can jeopardize a business’s future. Obsolete systems, particularly legacy infrastructures, lead to crippling inefficiencies and prevent organizations from harnessing AI for high-value tasks. These outdated technologies struggle with data accessibility and integration, creating costly operational bottlenecks that hinder automation and innovation. The hidden costs of maintaining such systems add up, draining resources while making it challenging to attract top talent who prefer modern tech environments. As companies become trapped in a cycle of stagnation, they miss out on progressive growth opportunities and risk being outpaced by more agile competitors.
The choice is clear: evolve like the iPhone or face the fate of BlackBerry.
How do legacy systems struggle to meet the demands of modern AI applications, particularly regarding energy, demand, and infrastructure?
Legacy systems face significant challenges in meeting the demands of modern AI applications due to their inherent limitations. These outdated infrastructures need more data processing capabilities, scalability, and flexibility for AI’s intensive computational needs. They often create data silos and bottlenecks, hindering real-time, interconnected data handling crucial for AI-driven insights. This incompatibility impedes the implementation of advanced AI technologies and leads to inefficient resource usage, increased energy consumption, and potential system failures. Consequently, businesses relying on legacy systems struggle to fully leverage AI’s potential in critical areas such as precision targeting, payroll reconciliation, and fraud detection, ultimately limiting their competitive edge in an AI-driven landscape.
What are the “hidden” costs of complacency for companies that hesitate to modernize their systems?
Relying on outdated technology means businesses depend on manual processes and siloed data, leading to increased costs and diminished productivity. Over time, this inefficiency compounds, resulting in missed opportunities and a significant loss of competitive edge as more agile competitors adopt AI solutions. Furthermore, employee potential is squandered on repetitive tasks instead of strategic work, causing frustration and potentially higher turnover rates. As rivals leverage AI for greater efficiency and innovation, companies that delay modernization risk falling further behind, ultimately jeopardizing their market position and long-term viability in an increasingly digital landscape.
Organizations must discern between legitimate concerns surrounding AI adoption and instances where human insecurities give rise to misleading narratives.
How can businesses evaluate if they’re falling behind in terms of infrastructure readiness for AI?
Businesses can evaluate their AI readiness by assessing whether their current systems can integrate with modern AI tools and scale to meet increasing data demands. If they struggle to process large datasets efficiently, leverage cloud solutions, or support automation, it’s a clear sign they may be falling behind. Additionally, companies should examine if legacy systems create bottlenecks or require excessive manual intervention, hindering productivity. Key indicators of lagging infrastructure include data silos, inadequate real-time analytics, insufficient computing power for complex algorithms, and challenges in attracting AI talent. Ultimately, organizations constantly playing catch-up with AI capabilities risk losing their competitive edge in an increasingly digital landscape. I will also emphasize that cutting-edge observability, security, and privacy protection techniques following composable architecture are critical for seamless and responsible AI readiness.
What are some practical steps organizations can take today to future-proof their systems for AI innovations?
The first step is to evaluate the current tech stack and look for areas where AI can be integrated. Organizations should prioritize scalable cloud solutions that support AI-driven automation and make it easy to incorporate new technologies. In particular, low-code platforms can help businesses with limited resources quickly deploy AI agents without needing deep technical expertise. Enterprises should also ensure that they have flexible, cloud-based infrastructure that can scale as needed to support future AI applications.
In your opinion, which industries stand to gain the most by rapidly adopting AI and upgrading legacy systems?
Industries that rely on data-driven decision-making and repetitive tasks stand to benefit the most. For instance, in the financial services sector, AI can automate tasks like customer support, fraud detection, and loan approvals, streamlining operations and enhancing the customer experience. Similarly, sales and customer service departments can see a significant productivity boost by using AI to handle routine queries or process leads more efficiently. Companies in healthcare, manufacturing, and retail industries can also benefit significantly from AI, especially as AI tools can help optimize supply chains, predict demand, and automate administrative work. Rather than performing these repetitive tasks, domain experts can focus on strategic work, creating a high return on AI investment.

Got a new phone. Autosynced photos with the last phone that I had autosync turned on. So I saw pics of myself from 2019, right after I realized I wasn't cis but before I started doing anything about it. It's... Jarring. Weird and uncomfortable but also gave me a stunning sense of "what I'm doing right now is right for me"
