Thought I Lost You: Dad!Jake Sully
Avatar Masterlist
word count: 683
request: Hi! I loved your Good Enough story and the way you wrote dad jake...I was wondering if your requests are open.. can you do something with Jake and his daughter??? Where it's based on the battle scene on the boat, and everyone is gathering together to reunite only you his daughter is still missing because you got trapped while making sure your little sister Tuk made it out safely, so he goes back and tries to find you?
A/N: Girl dad jake is my favorite thing to write right now <3
Tumblr media
"Tuk Tuk I need you to go first." You said to your little sister who looked at you nervously.
"It's okay Tuk, your smaller and I gotta be able to close this behind us. Please go ahead." You said nervously watching the water coming towards you two.
She made her way through the hole and scooted back so you would have room to get through only a gush of water came rushing over you and shutting the door leaving you two separated.
"Y/N!" She screamed pulling on the bars.
"Tuk Tuk listen to me...I need you to find dad, mom, or someone and bring them back to me. Can you do that?" You asked her.
"But I don't want to leave you!" She said crying as you laced your hand with hers through the bars.
"I know you don't but I'm trapped here, Tuk...please I need you to be strong and find someone, I'll be okay." You said even though you knew you probably weren't.
"Okay, I'll be back!" She said before disappearing as you prayed to Ewya that she got to someone before it was too late.
Jake sat on the rock with your brothers around him watching as Neytiri and Kiri swam over to him he let out a sigh of relief until he realized that you and Tuk were still missing. He hugged his wife and Kiri praying that you two made it out.
"Where's Tuk and Y/N?" Neytiri asked Jake noticing her two girls were missing.
'Mama! Daddy!" Tuk shouted as they swam over to her and helped her to the rock where everyone was.
"No! Sissy is trapped! We need to go save her." Tuk said as her parents looked at each other wide-eyed.
"Okay, we're gonna get her." Jake said slightly even more worried about you.
"I'm gonna take Neteyam and Tuk with me, so she can show me where she her, I'll send them back." Jake said to Neytiri who nodded her.
"Be safe and bring our daughter back." She said to him as he nodded his head before following Tuk and Neteyam back into the almost sunken ship.
"Help! Someone please." Jake heard you say.
"Babygirl?" He called back out as they continued swimming towards you.
"Dad!" You called out worriedly as the water continued to rise by the second, you could barely keep your head above water.
"Dad!" You said smiling once you saw him.
"Alright you two go back to your brother, we'll be right behind you." He said to your siblings who nodded their heads and headed back.
"It's alright, I'm here baby girl." He said as he tried to pull on the bars that divided you two.
"Daddy please.." You said as the water rose even more as he worked frantically, your cries making his heart hurt.
"I'll be right back." He said swimming off to see if he could something to break the bars with.
"Daddy please don't....You said as the water submerged you under it, and you tried to hold your breath as long as you could before you drifted.
Jake came back and saw you were gone making him even more determined to get you, using what he found as a lever, he was able to use it enough to make a big enough hole for you guys to get through. He swam down and began searching for you, he found still falling downward and was able to grab your hand and found an easier exit out of the snuck ship. He swam to the nearest rock and placed you on it, and began doing CPR, and eventually you came back to coughing out some water.
"Thought I lost you there baby girl." He said smiling at you.
"Thank you for coming back for me." You said wrapping your arms around him as he held you close to him.
"I always will." He said as he saw the rest of your family swimming over to where you guys were.
Your mother and siblings all joined in on the group hug, glad that you all made it out alive.

Some reviewers, who shall go unnamed, seem to have missed the point of these films.

The difference between still 1 and 2 felt absolutely feral and exciting in the theater, both times. God this man is an absolute bastard and I'm here for it, internal conflict and all.

Okay, hey, I have something to say about Avatar.  Because the haters love to talk about how nobody’s talking about it. But do you know why nobody’s talking about it? It’s not because it’s a flop. It’s not because it’s predictable, or lazy, or nobody cared, or anything like that.
Nobody’s talking about it because Avatar 2: The Way of Water is (beyond all the hype and the Disney and the animation pioneering and the meme of it all) a good, old-fashioned story about classic family roles. And we’ve lost the ability to let that impact us.
We’re more interested in movies about family that glorify our Teen Angst when we’re pushing 30 years old. Give us Encanto, where the parents aren’t doing enough and the Grandma is the villain and the children are martyrs of the older generation. Give us Stranger Things, where the adults are either evil or straight-up useless, but the kids have more insight into reality. That’s what we crave. A story that strokes our egos and reminds us that our parents were wrong about us. Doesn’t matter about what, exactly, but yeah, the parents are the dummies and the kids are the saviors.
We have no taste buds cultivated for a movie like Avatar 2, where the Dad and Mom just spend the entire movie learning what protection really means. We have no taste buds cultivated for a film where, yes, the kids are innovators and save parts of the day, but they also get into incredible danger thanks to disobedience, and one of them even dies because that is what happens when you’re a kid and you try to be an adult in a war zone.  I mean, gosh, please name me another film in 2022 that was as big and bold about A Father’s Job as Avatar 2: The Way of Water. Our culture doesn’t even want to say “father” anymore, because that would imply that male leaders of a family are actually something that should exist. But Avatar 2: The Way of Water really just said “A father’s role is to protect. That doesn’t mean saving my family by running from trouble.”
Jake goes from making decisions out of fear for his family to trusting in a higher power and leading his family in protecting their home. Proactively, not reactively.  Now, let me be clear, I hate that the higher power is a mashed-up ripoff of various religions, most prominently slapping the rearranged letters of God’s holy name on an amalgamation of Hindu and New Age ideology. And I’m very not cool with the messianic birth trope. But truly, that’s a subject for another time.
Right now, the point I’m making is, you can hate on Avatar 2: The Way of Water for not making a social media splash all you want. But the truth is, the film was made by real, solid filmmakers who have been writing screenplays for things like Armageddon and Titanic. They’re not some hyper-woke scrubs. They know what they’re doing.
We’ve just lost the ability to talk about stories that are built on traditional values. Avatar 2: The Way of Water isn’t making a splash on social media, not because it wasn’t good, but because the only things that make a splash on social media these days are woke, controversial, political, or pandering. Timeless tales about a family learning to come of age in adversity with the father leading just don’t hit the spot anymore.

Episode 189: “No Cultural Impact”
In Episode 189, “No Cultural Impact,” Flourish and Elizabeth look at the entertainment industry’s “fan-first” strategy for franchise-building, and the already-massive box-office success of Avatar 2: The Way of Water, part of a property that, as people continue to say on social media, no one remembers or cares about. Are fan activities, memes, or online chatter necessarily good indicators of franchise success? And when Hollywood privileges a certain idea of “fandom” in their strategic plans, does that actually serve fans—or viewers in general?

My Flower: Neteyam Sully
Avatar Masterlist
word count: 500
description: Small drabble about Neteyam being a sweetheart <3
Tumblr media
Neteyam came back from hunting excited to show you what he found while hunting today. He walked into his tent expecting to find you there only you were there, instead it was just his mother and Tuk who happily greeted him.
"She went off into the forest with Kiri. Once you find them, send Kiri home please." Neytiri said noticing her son's wandering eyes.
"Thank you and I will mother." He said before disappearing off into the forest to find you and Kiri.
He walked a bit before he started hearing the sounds of your and Kiri's giggles as he approached where you two were sat, he hid behind a tree watching as the flowers of Eywa floated around you two making him smile.
"There you two are." He says finally making his presence known and scaring off the flowers.
"Could you have been any louder big brother?" Kiri asked disappointedly.
"Yes and plus mother sent me to find you two. She wants you to head back home." He said to her as she nodded her head at him.
"Thanks for showing me, Kiri!" You said to her as she left.
"You know I was very disappointed when I got back from my hunting trip and my beautiful mate wasn't there?" He asked wrapping his arms around you.
"I'm sorry, I tried to wait for you at home but then Kiri got restless so I came out here with her. But I missed you." You said placing a kiss on his lips.
"I missed you too, I even brought you something." He said pulling away from you and reaching into his bag.
"Ney I told you that you don't have to get me anything..just being with you is enough." You said to him.
"I know you have but I thought about you as soon as I saw them." He said placing a bouquet of the most beautiful flowers in your hands.
"Ney... Thank you....they're beautiful." You said looking at him.
"Flowers....for my flower..." He said placing one in your hair before placing a kiss on your lips.

There's a bit of discourse in the Fandom about Quaritch, and it's valid. Human Quaritch was a monster, evil personified. He was humanity's greed and love of violence in one fleshy package and I honestly hated his character in the first movie.
Na'vi Quaritch is not that monster. He's done some bad shit, let's just acknowledge that right out of the gate, but he's not the Original. Every moment, every chance that the Original would have reveled in the violence and bloodshed, the Na'vi him hesitated and moved away from the worst of it. Sure, he captured Jake and Neytiri's kids multiple times. But the Original probably would have killed at least one each time just to press a point.
He showed Spider kindness and acceptance while the OG would have 1) kept calling him Miles, forced him to cut his hair, and dress 'like his species' and 2) would have allowed him to be tortured without a care. It's even hinted that the OG was... less than pleasant or gentle with baby Spider. Instead, he put his job on the line to protect him, he gave up a significant advantage to protect him, and he listened. The OG would have merked those villages with a smile on his face. The OG would not have wasted a second taming an Ikran properly, learned the Na'vi language more than he had to, would not have adapted to a more Na'vi way of being.
I'm not trying to be an apologist, I'm just coming from the perspective that these are distinct characters. The Na'vi clone is going through that classic clone dilemma of becoming a whole new person despite the original's plans. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the next movies he starts to separate himself from Human Quaritch further, like finding a way to cover the tattoo, or wanting to be called a different name.
I'm probably gonna get sideeyed for this and that's fine, I fully welcome discussions.
