I read the Kyoshi novels

I have been informed by my avatar pal that a Roku book is on its way.

Now before we riot over what was a avatar that pissed the original people off. Let us review:

If this book is as good as or at least comparable to our favorite homie FC Yee then we should expect good world building including:

1. Kyoshi being a mentor and hopefully some mention of Rangi since Roku is in fact fire nation

2. More air nomad life with none other than MONK GYATSO

3. Some more fire lord lore, Sozin and his sister that was recently decided to exist?

4. A work that our good pal kyoshi left in peace hopefully for a while.

5. Roku was kinda hot when he wasn’t grey haired and old so

So one of the things I wanted most from the books about Kyoshi and Yangchen is finding new information about the former avatars. The problem is that we didn't really got new information about any avatars besides Szeto. We did got the names of two new avatars, Salai and Gun, but with Salai we don't know anything besides this name. I thought we would find more information about her in the books of Yangchen but they didn't mention again. We doesn't even know if Salai is a boy or girl.

So it's really bothered me so I decided to at least have some direction about Salai. I know many fans think he was the ground avatar before Szeto but I don't think it's make sense. One it's mostly a female name and I know you can give a female name to a boy as well but I do think Salai is a girl and not a boy. Secondly, the name is a hindi origin and the nation with hindi names are the air nomads, so I think because of the name origin Salai is most likely an air nomad avatar. Of course it's just my opintion and besides a name I don't have any information to base on but that's what I think.

How I imagined Kyoshi when reading the novels :p

I do LOVE how she is designed in the game, they definitely got her description to a T! (Unlike Rangi 😀) but I thought it'd be fun to draw her in my style with my own lil headcannons in how I personally imagined her in my head whilst reading the amazing novels by F.C Yee. Eventually I also plan on re-drawing Rangi in my style and with my headcannons (for the third time lol) because It did kinda annoy me they got her hair AND eye colour wrong even though its emphasised in the books she has BRONZE eyes and JET BLACK hair compared to the usual yellow eyes and brown hair of the firenation lmao.

Yamaq is a water tribe born avatar, to history he was seen as a showman, a spectacle.

This may be because of his teachers.

Junji, a jeweller and merchant from Omashu taught him earth bending.

Risu, a sun warrior trained in the way of the dragon but wants nothing more than to dance is his fire bending teacher.

Ingo was said to have the most beautiful (and powerful) voice in all four air temples taught him airbending

thinking about that post asking what yuns story wouldve been like if hed actually been the avatar. and i think itdve been a mix of yangchen and korras story. the political focus and intrigue and probably a pretty similar arena (despite the time between) of yangchen but without her serious issues with the white lotus. having korras willingness to be kinda totally following the white lotus. though we cant know how spiritually connected hed be to his past lives (i think this connection is why yangchen knows to be wary of them, and korra spiritual difficulties + being put in the white lotus compound as a child is why she doesnt really question them) so he might not have that connection that tells them to operate separate of any one groups will. but if he still isnt found as the avatar until pretty late, and grew up struggling, i think hes still be pretty willing to follow whatever jianzhu wanted.

The Journey of Wan Premise+Masterpost

Almost 2 years have passed since Wan became the first avatar. In that time, the spirits were guided back home in the spirit world, Wan closed the spirit portals, and the lion turtles retired as guardians of mankind. Since then, humans have been free to roam the earth again without fear of the spirits, but new troubles arise when humans wage war with eachother, hunt hybrid animals, and abuse the elemental powers bestowed upon them. As the first human to have power of all four elements as well as the world on his shoulders, Wan does whatever it takes to restore balance to the world.

Main Cast: Wan, Mula, Raava, OCs

Q&A/FAQ:

How long has this project existed?

I started this project 2015-2016, after the release of the "Beginnings" episodes of LOK, which basically started from me creating OCs that existed 10,000 years ago, for no other reason than for the fun of it. I made friends with a shared interest in ATLA/LOK/Beginnings whom also created ocs for Wan's time period and their own takes on the lore behind the spirits and we collaborated with eachother. I had started the first two chapters of book one, that can be found on deviant art and wattpad (plus a few written prompts that featured ocs and wan's relationship with Raava) but with the newer updates, will also be posted here and archive of our own. After writing and publishing the second chapter, I began to focus on other priorities in my life, as I was taking classes in junior college, dealt with deaths in the family, and got caught up in other fandoms.

I never lost interest in this project, ocs and concepts that had yet to be fully fleshed out, however, they were always in the back of my mind and I would occasionally draw my Wan/oc ship, but not much further. Now with the release of the Kyoshi and Yangchen novels, comics and shows/movie announcements, I started to feel more compelled to revisit and commit to seeing this project through, even if friends I once collaborated with moved on or lost interest. I am taking this as an opportunity to redesign ocs or do some rewrites of old prompts and make any needed adjustments to the plot/characters/etc.

Are you doing this project alone?

As it stands, it appears so, but this is on me due to my own inactivity.

How many books are there going to be?

It has always been four: Light, Renewal, War, Legacy

Each with a varying number of chapters, but ideally the goal is 20 max. per book/"season"

Are you open to collaborate/form a writing team?

It is a possibility. As of now, I would like to reconnect with former peers and see if they would like to revisit this story or not, and seek consent on use of their ocs before moving any further.

Can I submit fanart to this blog?

Fanart is absolutely encouraged and welcome, once I have some art of my own and OC designs up of course. If you like what you see, then you are most welcome to draw and submit fanart.

Well… I don’t know where I would begin to say while reading the avatar chronicles series

{I have read rise of kyoshi, the dawn of Yengchan and currently reading Shadow of Kyoshi.}

I will say Kyoshi is pretty Ruthless if she not thinking clearly due to her stubbornness and lack of sleep. She may have killed a daofei. Which is a body count. Not to mention she was blinded by the past of her friend Yun. Yun did a lot to Kyoshi’s mental state.

Well Jainzhu sacrificed Yun to father glowwarm. to Kyoshi running away from Jainzhu, learning a lot of methods from a daofei group, killing a member of a yellow neck, searching for Yun

(Yes yun technically died but he disgustingly merged with father glowwarm.) not to mention insulted the fire lord and trying to prevent a war happening in the fire nation. Failing easily, to the point she kind of almost killed two Saowon’s clan members after hearing her past life Kuruk to get back to her senses. | I am very curious about the Kyoshi movie now. Yes I am reading the kyoshi novels before the kyoshi movie

Just ordered Patterns in Time comic and The Dawn of Yangchen novel. Was thinking to delay the purchase but since book depository is closing (today is their last day🥲), I have to order them now.

If you’re wondering why the purchase ties to the operation of book depository, it’s because all other online bookstores either don’t deliver to my country or the shipping cost is prohibitively expensive.
