Louis stutters out, trying to keep his voice level and even, to portray a depiction of strength, but with the way Harry is looking at him, staring at him like he has a personal passage way straight to Louis' soul, it's so hard, nearly impossible. That simple opening phrase, that short introductory acknowledgement that is often rushed out so easily, painlessly, at a safe distance. Giving a doctor the ability to portray empathy without true emotion, without feeling the full brunt and sheer force of the underlying pain itself. But Louis feels it, he feels the crushing agony laced behind the phrase, he feels the weight of the painful words, slipping from his lips, the cause and effect that the three-word expression holds. The distantly empty "I'm so sorry" that doctors through out in self-preservation, isn't at all empty for him. Louis recognizes it, he understands it, he feels it. ✚☤✚ a fated story of two broken and battered boys who barely survived the unimaginable and how the love of one little brave girl defies all the odds and somehow puts them back together.

He feels untethered, boundless in time, yet paradoxically his entire life is torturously bound to this very moment. Absolutely nothing he tells his mind serves to calm his racing thoughts, he commands his body to move and his body betrays him, commands lips to speak, but no words form. All Louis can do is blindly stare at the sickeningly heavy blood coating his arms, dripping to his trembling fingers. Tears ceaselessly pour down his cheeks despite how hard he squeezes his eyes shut, trying desperately to calm himself enough to utter a sound. An he can't breathe, despite all of his failed efforts to catch his wandering breath and gasp a much-needed lungful of oxygen, his diaphragm constricts further still, suffocating him from the inside out. breathe, breathe, breathe Louis forces a sharp inhale that hurts as the breath expands his stilted lungs, god it hurts. Like stabbing his chest with a serrated knife, dragging the jagged blade through his heart over and over and over again until there is nothing left.

"Louis." Harry utters slowly, the infection of his voice teetering on the edge of hysteria. But Louis doesn't even have the words. How could he? All Louis can do is shake his head in disbelief, pinching the bridge of his nose as pure stress begins to radiate throughout his entire body. The scent alone is enough to knock a grown man to his knees. "Louis. There is shit on the ceiling." Harry sounds like he's on the verge of an actual breakdown, body so tense it's a wonder how he hasn't completely snapped yet. "Actual shit plastered. To. The. Ceiling!" And it's not just that there's shit on the ceiling. It's on the walls and the floors and the tub and the sink and just-fucking everywhere. Toilet paper draped like fucking streamers at a birthday party. But this is no birthday party. No, this is a thing of nightmares, it is the work of a terror. A terror shaped exactly like their three-year-old son. "RORY!" Louis screams at the very peak of his lung capacity. "It wasn't me!" A tiny innocent voice calls back. "I swear! I swear! I swear!" or Harry and Louis' three-year-old son has an imaginary friend that is making their life a living, breathing hell.

"Rory, my darling, that was before we had you." Louis tries to explain as soothingly as possible. Rory blinks up at Louis in absolute confusion as his expression starts to pale. "...What?" "Papa and I got married before you were born, Ro." Harry explains gently, sitting up on the couch." But...but...but..." Rory mutters repeatedly on a loop as if he's starting to glitch. He shakes his curls as a deep frown pulls his little brows together, at a loss for what this means. There's confusion in his eyes along with growing frustration that is sure to lead to a full-blown toddler meltdown. "Where is...ME!" Or three-year-old Rory just doesn't understand why he wasn't invited to his parents' wedding.

"So, honey...um...Papa and I wanted to talk to you because uh well- our family is going to be getting a little bigger soon because uh..." "We're having another baby." Louis finishes, just ripping the band aid off. Who knows how long Harry would have dragged that sentence out for. Rory instantly pauses, settling his legs as he sits up slowly. "No. I'm your baby." "Yes, you are our baby, but we are getting another one too." Harry explains gently. "No, you can not. Just me...I'm baby. I'm the only baby." "You're our first baby." Louis tries next, rubbing Rory's back supportively. "No." Rory argues, his signature deep frown appearing on his forehead. "Yes-" "No." He repeats seriously, looking them dead in the eye. "No." or while preparing for the arrival of their second child, nearly four-year-old Rory expresses his sincere disapproval of getting a new addition to their family.

He brings the closed fist up to his chest, right above his heart, sighing dreamily as he shuts his eyes close, almost reverent. He opens them, eyes shimmering, and mouths a “Love you” back to Louis, happily walking away. My constant.

Shoulda made this post a while ago, but as you know, I have been very spacey of late. Saying thank you for the rest of my life wouldn’t be enough, Lauren. @hrrytomlinson . If that wasn’t blatantly obvious. Listen...the fact that something I did would mean enough to anyone to not only create perfect art, but MAIL IT TO MY DOORSTEP, is the most humbling thing I have ever experienced, but it doesn’t come down to me—it comes down to you. How kind, thoughtful, and amazing of a friend you are. You’ve been there for me through...a lot of drama lol and it continuously amazes me that we don’t live in the same state, or weren’t actually childhood friends. You know more about me than certainly anyone here, but also more than people in my everyday life do, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You support my every breath even when I’m stupid, and I will always do the same for you, love. You always joke in the chat about how tsundere I am (look that fucking up if you don’t know), and you can consider this my most sappiest moment yet of the few I’ve shown. 

I can’t help it—you and Lexy bring it out in me. And what kind of post would this EVEN BE without Lexy? You also know way too much, so I’m not letting either of you get away hahaha. So ay, @avocadolouie, you too bitch. The three of us in that god forsaken chat of ours are stronger than any other trio ever, fictional or otherwise, and the amount (not to mention of length of) audio clips I’ve poured to you is astounding, and the fact that you listen to every word is even more astounding. I’m not always the most talkative as you both know, but you make my world go round, and in my WORST moments lately, I’ve found myself coming to you before people in my own life. That says a lot—not about the shittiness of my “real life” friends, but about the miraculous strength of the two of you. 

I will have this art and the tear-jerking letter you wrote until I am dead, and words just can’t grasp how amazed and speechless I am that I own it.
