“Harry,” the swordsmen speaks before Harry can, his voice low and steady though confusion laces each word.

Harry’s breath catches. Every string around his heart, all the protection he spent nine months building, rips out and tears open all at once as he says, “Hi Louis.”

Ten Lines (even though it’s not) Tuesday

The lively @lululawrence tagged me to post 10 lines, and then @reminiscingintherain and @jacaranda-bloom tagged me in the last line challenge, so I’m combining and posting the last 10 lines i wrote which are the first 10 lines of a new fic:

The most difficult thing about visiting a park or hiking trail for the first time is finding the right parking spot. Shady is best, but not always possible, because those areas tend to fill up fast, so Harry invested in a set of sun shades years ago. So when he drives through the lot and the only uncrowded area is on the far side where the sun shines down unfiltered, he simply shrugs and pulls into the space at the very end of the line.

With the car still running, Harry sets up the front sun shades in the windshield, passenger and driver side windows, then climbs over the center console into the back seat. Once he’s set up the shades in the three rear windows, Harry stretches out his legs, sparks up a joint, and takes a few hits.

There’s nothing quite like hiking high. Harry's always liked weed, but mix it with working up a sweat surrounded by trees and leaves and fresh air and sunshine and it’s the perfect combination of his favorite things. With a good buzz going, Harry folds the roach into a tiny square of foil, chugs a bottle of water, checks that he’s got everything he needs in his pack, and climbs out of his smoke-filled car.

The seven mile out-and-back hike should challenge him, but Harry's up for it, accustomed to long trails and elevation changes. Adjusting his hat, Harry starts off towards the trailhead kiosk to register and begin his hike.

“No, no,” Louis said quickly. "They’ll figure it out soon enough, though, because they’ll get used to you changing things up, but you’re only going to trip over your so called Americanisms for so long before they realize it’s because you don’t actually know fuck all about football.”

Harry sighed. “Yeah. I figured. I just need to bullshit for long enough to allow Liam to get the situation figured out from his end.”

“Right, which brings me to my entire point. I think we can find a mutually beneficial arrangement with all of this.” Louis leaned forward. “You need to learn the ins and outs of the sport incredibly fast. I can help you with that.”

“What do you want in exchange?”

I start next year.” Harry let out a shriek as he said the word year and he clapped his hands in delight. “Isn’t that great! Full time vet job! New animals to meet! A new environment!” He settled his eyes back on Louis, who was still standing there in front of him with wide eyes. “Isn’t it great, Lou?”

That seemed to jolt Louis out of his thoughts and he nodded immediately, opening his arms up for Harry to dive into. “Holy shit, yes. Congratulations. Come here,” he wrapped his arms around Harry and cuddled him close, pressing his nose into Harry’s neck. “Holy shit,” he whispered.

aka Louis and Harry have been roommates for four years, comfortable in their routine and their relationship. But all of that is about to change.

Harry was so fixated upon the boy across from him, who was staring right back with his mouth now hanging open, he’d missed it when Niall bounded back towards him and grabbed the lunch before popping a kiss on his cheek and leaving again. The kiss snapped Harry out of his daze and he let out a breathy laugh as the pretty boy walked out furthermore, closing his door behind him. He gave Harry a small smile back, raising his eyebrows in amusement while looking down past Harry’s waist and then back up.

or the one where Harry and Louis are neighbors and there's a lot of overthinking, misunderstandings, Backstreet Boys sing-alongs, embarrassing moments in the hallway, and pining. They somehow still make it work.

Ten Lines Tuesday

So I'm making this one up, and you're gonna deal with it haha I was tagged by the always lovely @enchantedlandcoffee and @harruandlou to share a snippet of my current WIP, thank you!! There isn't a fun little alliterative title for Tuesday that I know of, so I thought I'd share ten lines of the fic I'm currently working on for @1domegaverseficfest and here we are! So, without further ado...

Right as Harry came into view with a smile on his face, effectively distracting Louis with his dimples, Grey launched themself into his arms, causing them to drop their boxes and Louis his basket onto the floor. Louis laughed in surprise and wrapped his arms around the omega.

“Hey there,” he chuckled. “Come on in for the cuddle too, then.”

“Thanks, Mom.”

Louis’ breath was knocked right out of him at those words, and Grey froze. They’d clearly been scenting Louis as they said it, but Louis really didn’t think it was purposeful. Especially because Grey immediately pulled out of Louis’ arms and scurried out of sight before either Harry or Louis could respond.

“Shit,” Harry cursed quietly, looking between Louis and where Grey had disappeared.

“I…” Louis blinked and looked down at the boxes still scattered on the floor.
