This non-descript house is being built on what was once a wooded lot adjacent to some 1960s era bungalows. As such it destroyed green space as it hulks over its neighbors. It illustrates an article I read a few days ago:

Kois writes about nearby Arlington County, but the phenomenon is widespread in the DC suburbs. Because the lot being developed is quite small, the house shown is not as big as many in the genre discussed by Kois, but like them it is out of character in design and scale for its neighborhood. Much taller than any nearby house, it looks down on all of them.
