Isaiah Bradley (played by Carl Lumbly, known for voicing J'onn J'onzz in Justice League Unlimited) is one of the lesser-known heroes to bear the identity of Captain America. For most people both in the Marvel Universe and the real world, his name is likely a totally unknown commodity in the world of superheroics. And at least in the Marvel Universe, that's almost by design, as Bradley's tragic story hides a key part of the political realities behind the Super Soldier program.

Created by writer Robert Morales, artist Kyle Baker, and editor Axel Alonso in the 2004 limited series Truth: Red, White, and Black, Isaiah Bradley is one of a number of test subjects, all Black men, who were dosed with experimental versions of the Super Soldier Serum that empowered Steve Rogers as part of a World War II ear program designed to recreate the success of the Captain America program.

Isaiah was originally a soldier stationed at Army base Camp Cathcart, which is home to a unit of Black soldiers. 300 of the soldiers were subjected to experiments conducted by a German eugenicist scientist named Dr. Wilfred Nagle. Nagle's experiments resulted in the deaths of all but five of the test subjects, of whom Isaiah Bradley was one of the survivors.

The remaining test subjects were killed along with their families and loved ones in order to cover up the horror of having murdered 295 people in an ultimately failed experiment.

Isaiah's story echoes the Tuskeegee Syphilis Study (also known as the Tuskeegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male), in which 600 impoverished Black men from Alabama were promised free healthcare by the Centers for Disease Control and the United States Public Health Service as a part of a study that they were told would last six months.

However, 399 of the men had undiagnosed and untreated syphilis which the CDC and USPHS hid from the patients, using their diagnosis to extend their study for over 40 years from 1932 to 1972, leaving hundreds of Black men debilitated with degenerative syphilis in one of the most horrifying violations of medical ethics and human rights of the last century.

The five surviving Super Soldiers, Isaiah included, are sent overseas to fight Nazis – however, only Isaiah survives. Taking up a spare costume and a back-up shield meant to be used by Steve Rogers/Captain America, Bradley finishes his mission solo but is captured by Nazis. After being rescued from Nazi experimentation, Bradley is court-martialed for stealing the Captain America uniform, and jailed in Leavenworth Penitentiary from 1943 to 1970, when he receives a pardon from President Eisenhower and is set free.

After his release, Bradley – still young and vigorous thanks to his Super Soldier Serum – becomes an underground hero of the Black community, a symbol recognized as a defender of those who need Captain America most. Though most white heroes – including Steve Rogers himself – are ignorant of Bradley's legacy and career, Black heroes such as Monica Rambeau, Luke Cage, and the Falcon hold Bradley in high reverence. He's also shown to be a hero and inspiration to the Marvel Universe version of real-world Black abolitionists, civil rights activists, and notable people from Nelson Mandela, to Muhammed Ali, to Angela Davis, Malcolm X, and even Richard Pryor.

Isaiah's story ends on an even more tragic note, with the flawed version of his Super Soldier Serum leading to neurological degeneration resulting in a condition similar to Alzheimer's.

HOW THEY MET: Aiden’s first day of swim. He’s one year younger than Eli. 

They’re rivals, but Eli’s the one who sees them as rivals more then Aiden. 

Aiden is just “secretly” pining after Eli since he first met him. 

Eli’s dream is to get into the Olympics and he sees Aiden as a potential threat since he’s just at good as swimming as Eli. So Eli wants to make sure he’s always ahead him. 

Aiden’s a little shit to him though. He always tries to provoke him in order to get some reaction out of him. 

Jeremiah’s the first to notice Aiden’s crush on Eli, and soon after Axel realizes it as well. 

They try to bring them together on many occasions.

The above dialogue is their first meeting. 

HOWEVER, Jayden saw that Isaiah (The Cute Boy) was putting some books back on their shelf one day, and Jayden (No Impulse) Im walked by and basically had a love at first sight moment. 

So many secret glances later, he finally got the courage to talk to him. Even if it didn’t go as planned...which he went to his best friend soon after to scream about it. (”AND I SAID PURPLE! LIKE AN IDIOT”) 

Jayden is a strong, confident, extrovert...but once he sees Isaiah and his angelic self, he short circuits. 

After that moment that they shared, Isaiah is actually the one to approach Jay first and they soon start a promising friendship. 

Which is torture for Jay because he likes him so muCH and wants to HOLD HIS HAND and KISS HIM, but he wants to take it slow. 

After a year though, Jayden confesses and they start dating!

Proxy in Command (Creepypasta x Reader) Chapter 39

Series Masterlist

Zalgo led me to the back of his kingdom, the part no one has ever seen, according to him. There were two black doors, unguarded. He pushed them open before walking straight revealing a black and red patio.

"Let me guess, red and black are your favorite colors." I rolled my eyes.

He grinned as he comfortably sat on the black couch. "How'd you ever find out?" He signaled me to sit on the other couch in front of him.

I sat on the couch and leaned backward. "Lucky guess," I muttered as I glanced away.

Zalgo softly smiled before lighting the fire table in front of us with his hands. Creatures made out of fire were formed on top of the table.

"Thousands of years ago, immortal creatures interacted with humans. Creatures that humans consider fictional such as vampires, werewolves, sirens, witches, you name it. Everything went smoothly. Humans died, but the immortals would stay alive with their offspring to the point immortals overpopulated humans."

The creatures made out of fire vanished before a man wearing medieval clothing was formed.

"This human man called Silas L/N went to an ancient witch in hopes of achieving immortality and power, which he did. He hoped it would pass to his future descendants. Of course, everything comes with a price."

A female was now formed next to him along with two kids.

"He eventually married a woman and had twins. Silas believed his children would be immortal too. But when one of his twins was shot to death, he killed the witch out of rage. What he didn't know was that his lineage would pay the price. His descendants were indeed stronger than humans, but they were not immortal. Their strength would only be unlocked once they claim someone who they swear to always protect. The witch purposely did that so the L/N lineage would be seen as potential slaves."

A flame was split into two and then was split into four. It kept on multiplying as Zalgo spoke.

"The L/N family expanded like a virus which caught the attention of the immortals. The immortals befriended them in hopes of gaining a personal bodyguard, but that relationship changed once the most powerful oracle had announced a prophecy."

A beautiful woman with long silky hair and a dress was now formed as her subjects were kneeling in front of her. Zalgo swiped his hand away which caused the figures to disappear.

"Immortals would be close to extinction in a few centuries and the last L/N descendant would kill the most powerful immortal. The immortals feared for their lives and started massacring them. It was an ongoing war between Sila's descendants and the immortals for centuries."

The multiple flames were formed again but they all soon disappeared but one.

"About 99% of immortals died along with the L/N family. The few remaining L/N families stayed hidden for centuries until an immortal creature was filled with vengeance."

A young man with modern clothes was now formed.

"Axel Grayson secretly killed all the remaining L/N descendants but two. Isaac L/N, your father, and Isaiah L/N, your uncle. Your uncle killed him before you were born to protect you from any threats. Unfortunately, Isaiah died in that battle for you to live peacefully with your parents. It's a shame you were only with your family for a year before Slenderman killed your parents and Zen brought you along."

The fire had finally died, and all I saw was Zalgo's smirking expression in front of me.

"Slenderman was secretly afraid if you were the last descendant that the Oracle stated would kill the most powerful creature. He wanted you to protect him, but you obviously claimed the brunette girl. With a little bit of my manipulation, he was afraid I would control you and make you kill him. That's why he didn't make you immortal nor make you fight in the battle."

I kept quiet as I processed everything he had just said. My ancestors were hunted and the curse had turned them into slaves. It all made sense now how Derick had called me Slenderman's slave and why Slenderman treated me like this for years. I had replaced his first proxy, but he feared for his life.

"So Slenderman is the most powerful immortal?" I broke the silence.

"No darling, I'm more powerful than him."

I furrowed my eyebrows as I realized he contradicted himself.

"But you said Slenderman feared I would kill him."

"Slenderman believes he's more powerful than me, but it's not true."

"The prophecy claims the last L/N descendant is going to kill the most powerful immortal creature. If I'm the last one, that means I'm going to kill you."

This didn't make sense. Why would Zalgo risk his life by bringing me here?

Zalgo leaned forward as he crossed his legs. "Here's the thing darling, I don't believe that's true. I've seen visions of us together." He stood up as he walked around the fire table to get close to me. "In fact, I want to show you the first vision that I had." He grabbed my hand and used his other hand to pull my chin up, forcing me to look at his red eyes.

Both Zalgo and a woman were seated on their thrones, smirking at the people in front of them. I couldn't see who they were smirking at but their appearances were clear. Zalgo looked the same, but the woman had red eyes that matched his. Zalgo grabbed her left hand and pressed a kiss on her wedding ring.

"My king, I think they overstayed their visit, don't you think?" The woman spoke. I automatically recognized her voice. It was mine but more sinister.

"I also agree, my queen. Will you do the honors in exterminating them?"

The woman stood up before smirking at the crowd. "This is the perfect wedding gift."

I gasped as I was brought to reality. I glanced around the room, relieved it was only a vision.

"I doubt that's going to happen Zalgo."

Zalgo hummed as he sat back in his original seat. "Darling, I had a vision of you on your knees, begging me to bring your pathetic friends back. Look where we are now."

"As you said, I'm only here because of them. Nothing is going on between us so there's no way that's going to happen! We agreed that I would be your proxy, that was it!"

"Here's the thing Y/N, you will be my proxy for a few days. Your attitude is what will determine for how long. " I scoffed as Zalgo stood up. "Just a heads up, the under realm can be freezing at night. We should head inside."

I looked at the same dark sky with red auras. Nothing had changed since I arrived.

On cue, I felt a gust of wind blowing on my side. I wrapped myself in my arms before standing up.

"Let us go back inside before you freeze to death."

I sat cross-legged on the bed as I reflected on what had happened. Everything was hard to take in especially believing that Zen had died. I could ask Zalgo to show me his soul, but the other part of me feared to see him in that state.

It's barely been a few hours since I've been awake, but I already miss the mansion. I missed the times I had to calm the pastas down whenever they got into an argument and even beat their asses. Now I was alone, with Zalgo. Who knows if I will ever see them again due to the pillars being destroyed.

Someone then entered the room. I kept my gaze at the bed sheets in front of me seeing as I knew it was Zalgo.

"I promise things will get more exciting starting tomorrow Y/N."

I kept silent not wanting to talk to him.

"Y/N, look at me."

I moved my gaze to the balcony, the opposite way where he was standing.

"Why won't you look at me?"

I scoffed as I crossed my arms. "Because you're hideous. Having seven mouths on your body isn't the most pleasant thing to look at."

Zalgo kept quiet for a few seconds before a golden light surrounded him. I had to close my eye until the bright light disappeared. I finally turned to look at him, only for my eyes to widen.

A human male was now in front of him. He had red hair with black tips with a slim figure, but what caught my attention were his eyes. His eyes were black with red pupils. Although he didn't have his horns anymore, there was no doubt that this was Zalgo.

"I don't usually use this figure but if I want to build comfort, I guess this is a good exception."

I shook my head before turning away. "You could turn into the most handsome man in the world but I'll still look at you the same way."

He sat on the edge of the bed as he continued to look at me. "I don't understand why you hate me so much. I helped you get stronger when you were a kid. I'm treating you better than Slenderman ever did. I'm willing to give you a throne in this world! What else do you want?"

I glared at him before responding. "Sure you helped me with how to use my weapons, but you tortured me with nightmares every single night! Do you know how traumatized I was? Every night I feared they would die because of me!" I caught my breath before continuing to speak. "I was happy in the mansion before you woke up. Again, I was tortured with nightmares but this time it was either my friends dying or me! Next thing you know, you go into my room and threaten to kill the others if I expose your presence! I was forced to accept your deal in order to protect them. Now I'm stuck here where I'm unhappy. I don't think you're any better than Slenderman!"

Zalgo stood up before walking to the side of the bed. We both maintained eye contact before he pushed me down to the bed. I struggled to get up as his body caged mine, pinning my hands above my head with one of his hands.

"Get off of me!" I yelled as I tried squirming away.

Zalgo used his other hand to tightly grip my jaw, hurting me in the process. I started to panic as I felt my eyes starting to get watery.

"It appears I have yet to speed the process, my dear. Tomorrow will be a new day. Let us hope it'll start to act up by then."

Before I could ask him what he meant, my body went limp and I blacked out.

Oh the Horror! Or is it the Horror Show at Extreme Rules!

We are now just one week away from the next WWE PPV in the COVID-19 pandemic era from the Performance Center. This PPV is usually built around the gimmicks and this year is no different. We’ll get a Swamp Match from Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman for the Universal Title. We’ll get an Eye for an Eye (or whatever that means) Match between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins. It’ll be a Bar Fight between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus and so much more.

Dolph Ziggler is waiting to tell the World what the stipulation will be against Drew McIntyre for his WWE Championship. It’s building to be a pretty decent PPV. I would expect the Swamp Match to be cinematic of course. It’ll be interesting to see how they incorporate the wetlands into their history. My expectations aren’t very high, so here’s hoping!

I expect Asuka vs. Sasha Banks to steal the show too! Could it be time for Sasha and Bayley to wear ALL the women’s gold in the WWE. I think so!

It’s hard to imagine that SummerSlam is one month away and we are still in the crowd-less era. Who would’ve ever thought that would be. It will be interesting to see how New Japan Wrestling handles their first event with fans, roughly 3,500 for this weekend’s event in Japan. But, things are so different here in the United States that I don’t see fans in the stands anytime soon with all the spikes we are getting, especially with the WWE based in Florida these days, the new epicenter of the coronavirus.

Heath Slater – Talk about delivering the promo of his WWE life! Slater brought the reality to bestie Drew McIntyre before Drew claymored him straight to defeat. Loved the surprise of Slater showing up while in the final days of his no-compete clause of his contract. I just wished they would’ve had Slater beat up Dolph Ziggler to further the storyline. Maybe, like Drew Maverick on NXT, it’s not the last of Heath just yet?

Asuka vs. Bayley – Two of the best in-ring performers right now, men or women, in the WWE. Nikki Cross showed how unpredictable she is too by showing up behind the plexiglass to help Asuka pull off the win. We are all fans in these weekly battles between Asuka, Bayley and Sasha Banks!

Hello, RKO – Found it funny that Randy Orton is again paired with two third-generation wrestlers in Andrade & Angel Garza. Brings back memories of Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas & Cody Rhodes. I love Orton’s slow build too! So good at the storytelling to the eventual “legend Killing” of Big Show to come.

The lowlights:

No-contest – I see no point in having matches end in no-contests these days. Love that Kairi Sane is back to help Asuka and set up next week’s Tag Team Title Match against Banks & Bayley, but we could’ve at least gotten a finish to the match between Sane & Banks.

Ruby Riott, again – I don’t get feeding Ruby Riott to the IIconics each week without the pay-off of Liv Morgan coming to help her former friend. It just makes too much sense not to do it. Having her lose weekly in mere minutes doesn’t do her any favors.

Bask in his Glory – Give Keith Lee his due. He is now Mr. NXT! He holds all the Gold and can cement his position as to where either the NXT Championship or the North American Championship goes. The loaded main event helped NXT take the total viewership win again against AEW and sets in motion the Lee vs. Karrion Kross feud too, which could be EPIC! Now, what becomes of Adam Cole? Does he move forward to RAW after 403 days atop the Full Sail mast. Either way, he deserves a ton of credit too for elevating the NXT Championship.

Robert Stone – Keep the comedy coming! Shotzi Blackheart running over Stone with her mini-tank is comedic gold! Another embarrassing moment of reject for the Robert Stone brand.

Solid:

The middle of the show – It wasn’t epic but it was truly very solid and a buidlng moment as we see Bronson Reed continue to gain momentum with a victory. The cruiserweights continue their feud of Legado del Fantasma against the rest of the division.

Gargano vs. Scott – Given a spot on a different night, this one could’ve stolen the show. But after the street fight and Championship vs. Championship match, it takes a back seat. Wouldn’t mind seeing it again though!

Sasha, Bayley, Alexa and Nikki – Strongest part of the show. Fun tag team that keeps the storyline going with Bayley sneaking the win over Cross. It gives me a reason to care about their upcoming title match.

The lowlights:

The rest of the show! Honestly, from the start of the show with Miz TV (again) setting up Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz with the usual barbs to the end of the show with a tag team title no-contest, there just was not a good vibe to this show.

Don’t get me wrong, Hardy vs. The Miz was serviceable and a nice match between two vets, but nothing spectacular other than to set up what we already knew – a Bar Fight for Hardy vs. Sheamus at Extreme Rules

The Karoake Showdown was a disaster! Having Lacey Evans, Naomi, Dana Brooke and Tamina sink WWE entrance themes is a waste of everyone’s time and if you wanted to sing the “Common Man” theme for Dusty Rhodes, wouldn’t it have been more appropriate at NXT’s Great American Bash? Then, to have a no-contest for Evans and Naomi further wasted our time and was just a time filler.

Finally, don’t get me started with the tag team title match. Why build up a championship match only to see it halted at the first sign of chaos that only seemed to let the World know we have a tables match coming at Extreme Rules. There are 100 different ways to accomplish that goal than to waste a title match on broadcast TV.

And oh yeah, did I mention we got a replay of Money In the Bank’s Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt’s title match? Time filler folks. They could’ve wrapped up that in a 3-minute production piece.

Here’s hoping that next week’s go home show is much better. I’m not holding my breathe. This one was not good people!

Reigns vs. Lee – Sign me up for one, whenever it’s possible. Roman Reigns tweeted out this week his congratulations to Keith Lee for his NXT Title win and wants a shot down the road. Make this happen WWE! That is, of course, if you ever acknowledge that Reigns is still part of the company still.
