This time I am reviewing some Demon Slayer short stories, otherwise known as Demon Slayer: The Flower of Happiness, and they are a bit too short in my opinion!

"Mitsuri had once been Rengoku's Tsuguko apprentice. In the end, she'd been too different from him and had gone off on her own. But for a time, they had been master and apprentice. bought a copy of this collection of short stories called Spy x Family: Family Portrait by Aya Yajima and THEY ARE ALL AMAZING!!!! super recommend them!!

i honestly can’t pick a favorite because they were all charming in their own way!! this and the translation was superbly well-made, it was an easy read but still elegantly written.

not sure if i could drop some mild spoilers but—

1st story is about anya and damian (i think everyone already knows what happens to this story lol)

2nd story is about some anya and yuri bonding time which turned out to be actually sweet

3rd story is an angsty but lovely oneshot involving franky’s love and twilight/franky friendship (seriously this one is unlike the usual franky plotline!)

4th story is about our lovely forger family which was so funny honestly plus that new character was giving handsome vibes i think my college self would have had a major crush on him lol;

plus a short story about the forger family helping marriage rates in ostania increase lmao!!!

based on the afterword, Tatsuya Endo supervised the writing process so this made the stories extra special for me. i just love this family so much!!!!

CROSSCANONS: Is your mom voiced by a Precure? (Precure x Love Live)

Upon confirmation of Yukana being another Precure veteran to voice a mom in the Love Live to one of the school idols (Lanzhu, of all people), it reminds me of the other Precure seiyuus who lent their voices to other Love Live mothers.

==Let's start at the beginning with Muse.==

Honoka Kousaka

Honoka's mom is voiced by Masumi Asano (Minami Kaido/Cure Mermaid). Asano still had credit for the LL! movie, when Go! Princess Precure was midway through the season.

Kotori Minami

Believe it or not, Kotori's mother is voiced by a well-known voice actress [Noriko Hidaka] who had a supporting role in the Precure franchise. In Suite Precure, Hidaka played Aphrodite, Cure Muse's mother. Kinda fitting, don't you think?

Maki Nishikino

Maki's mother, voiced by Kikuko Inoue, has a few roles in Precure, but Benigyo (from Maho Tsukai) is the most well-known of the three.

Nico Yazawa

(I have to mention her or else I'd be punished in the name of the moon. No, literally. Nico's mom is voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi.)

Mitsuishi provides the voice of Hummy, the mascot from Suite Precure.

Eli Ayase

While her mother is never seen in the series, her grandmother makes an appearance. She is voiced by Fumi Hirano, who had a minor role in Star Twinkle Precure (that being Lala's mother).

Chika Takami

Rie Kugimiya voices Chika's mother, who previously was involved with DokiDoki! Precure as Madoka Aguri/Cure Ace and the Yes! Precure 5 movie as Dark Lemonade.

Riko Sakurauchi

Riko's mother is voiced by singer and voice actress, Nana Mizuki. Prior to Sunshine, she was Tsubomi Hanasaki/Cure Blossom in Heartcatch! Precure.

Yohane Tsushima

Yohane's mother, voiced by Hekiru Shiina, also voices Madoka's mother in Star Twinkle Precure.

Mari Ohara

Mari's mother is voiced by Akiko Yajima. In Futari wa Precure, she is credited as Mipple, Honoka's partner.

Setsuna Yuki

The voice behind Setsuna Yuki's mother, Ryoko Shiraishi, had a minor role in both Smile Precure and Heartcatch! Precure.

Kanata Konoe

Yuko Minaguchi provided the voice for Kanata's mother. She was the seiyuu behind both Dark Mint in the Yes! Precure 5 movie and Flora from Yes! Precure 5 GoGo.

Lanzhu Zhong

As mentioned in the beginning of this post, Lanzhu's mother has been confirmed to be voiced by Yukana. She is best known as Honoka Yukishiro/Cure White in Futari wa Precure.

Kanon Shibuya

Kanon's mother is played by Mamiko Noto, who also voiced Ayumi Sakagami/Cure Echo in the Precure All Stars New Stage movies.

Ren Hazuki

Ren's mother is voiced by Aya Endo. She also voiced Tenjo in Star Twinkle Precure.

Kinako Sakurakoji

Ikue Otani, the voice behind Candy from Smile Precure, is credited as Kinako's mother.

For the meantime, this is every canon LL mother with a literal CV. It is unknown, to my knowledge, if Hasunosora has any yet to be mentioned. Hopefully you enjoy learning something different today!

Spy x Family: Family Portrait (2023)

Guess my current anime obsession 🩸🕵️‍♂️ 👧 🐶

I’m obsessed with Spy x Family! First time I watch the anime AND read the manga at the same time as they’re being released. And that also includes reading the novel that barely got published in America just two weeks ago 😅

The novel Family Portrait is what it states it is— an intimate portrait of each key member of the Forger family (and Franky)! It consists of 4 episodic, appropriately titled as “missions” :

Mission 1: Anya and Damian

Mission 2: Anya and Yuri

Mission 3: Franky and Loid (my favorite)

Mission 4: Anya, Yor, and Loid

(and a bonus short story from an outsider’s perspective of our beloved Forgers) 💕

It’s nothing absolutely spectacular and, of course, doesn’t change the main canon in any way, but it’s nice to see some stories that let the audience get to know these beloved characters in a more intimate way!

One of favorite things in particular is that this novel shows Loid being a ✨soft ✨ husband and father. Of course, it’s still all for the mission (👀), but seeing him be a little sweeter just makes my little fangirly heart soar.

Not the way I planned to start off my 2024, but it still makes me happy ☺️

We’re All Just Fine HC -  Ana Penyas

This heartfelt graphic biography is a tribute to the artist's grandmothers and a generation of women who quietly soldiered through over forty years of Fascist rule in Spain.

Artist Ana Penyas's grandmothers Maruja and Herminia live alone in their respective Spanish towns, largely neglected by their children and relatives, who never visit. But when Ana comes to see them, she realizes that these women, whose day-to-day existences now seem mundane, experienced firsthand an incredibly tumultuous and fascinating period of Spanish history.

In We're All Just Fine, Penyas weaves the memories of her grandmothers to craft a narrative quilt that pieces together what it was like for women to assimilate to Spain's dramatic political and cultural shifts in the late 1970s and '80s. Some very few thoughts on the Demon Slayer light novels by Aya Yajima The Flower of Happiness One-Winged Butterfly Signs from the Wind

-I really like this quote: “Nezuko was not a girl to be pitied and assumed unhappy. Just like she had when she was a person, she was trying to live and be present in the moment. Nezuko would decide what happiness looked like to her.”

-Kimetsu Academy is “an average school with problem students,” lmao, as if the teachers aren’t all a hot mess.

-WTH kind of heartbreaking story is Sanemi’s chapter, what happened to flower crowns and happy Nezukos and Obanai nearly raining down hellfire for Mitsuri’s honor! Damn!

-Kanae and Inosuke, Inosuke telling her to put on the butterfly hair accessory to bring her family along this last time that they’re hunting demons, I’m crying, wth?

-Lmfao, even Muichiro has noticed that Obanai simps for MItsuri, oh no.

-Kotetsu being concerned for Muichiro’s well-being when Muichiro offers to help him, too cute.

-Muichiro’s story makes me tear up too, wait, the signs from the wind stories are more poignant than the previous two volumes.

Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba, Star Comics porta in Italia anche i romanzi

La prima delle due raccolte di racconti arriverà da giugno!

Gli annunci di Edizioni Star Comics non si fermano: dopo aver svelato l’arrivo in Italia di “Tower of God” e “Non volevo innamorarmi” la settimana scorsa, oggi è il turno dei due romanzi tratti da “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba”, il popolarissimo shonen manga di Koyoharu Gotouge, già distribuito nel nostro paese dalla casa editrice (il volume 12 sarà disponibile dal 10 marzo). 

La due raccolte di racconti, scritte da Aya Yajima (già autrice della light novel di Blue Exorcist) ) verranno pubblicate nel corso del 2021.

DEMON SLAYER - KIMETSU NO YAIBA: IL FIORE DELLA FELICITÀ arriverà in fumetteria, libreria e store online a partire da giugno.

In questo primo volume assisteremo a una serie di vicende non narrate durante la storyline principale e collocabili fra l'inizio e la fine di vari archi narrativi. Nel racconto che dà il titolo alla raccolta, Tanjiro si mette alla ricerca di un leggendario fiore in grado di regalare la felicità... forse anche a Nezuko? I nostri si troveranno poi ad affrontare un demone che pretende fanciulle in sacrificio da una famiglia a cui ha offerto la sua protezione, e poi a evitare ogni contatto femminile per il bene di Zenitsu. Chiudono la raccolta un approfondimento sull'amicizia fra Kanao e Aoi, e un esilarante "what if"? che immagina i nostri protagonisti nei panni di studenti liceali. Un volume imperdibile per ogni appassionato!

Per quanto riguarda DEMON SLAYER – KIMETSU NO YAIBA: LA FARFALLA CON UN'ALA SOLA i dettagli arriveranno prossimamente, nel corso dell’anno.

In questa seconda raccolta di racconti scopriremo dei toccanti dettagli sul passato delle sorelle Shinobu e Kanae, vedremo Zenitsu alle prese con un allenamento speciale che metterà sin troppo alla prova la sua integrità e scopriremo dei segreti relativi a Mitsuri. E dopo aver assistito ai racconti di Genya, ricoverato alla Casa delle Farfalle, riguardo al suo passato, scopriremo infine quanto può essere difficile... far ridere una colonna. 

Il celebre manga nasce da un primo one-shot intitolato “Kagarigari”, premiato con una menzione d’onore ai Jump Treasure Newcomer Manga Awards del 2013. L’opera è stata serializzata sulla rivista Weekly Shounen Jump dal febbraio 2016, riuscendo addirittura a scalzare “One Piece” nella classifica delle vendite e concludendosi di recente con il 23° volumetto.

Le avventure di Tanjiro e Nezuko hanno anche ispirato una seguitissima serie animata di 26 episodi, diretta da Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X, Tales of Symphonia the Animation) presso lo studio ufotable (Fate/stay Night: UBW, Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu), distribuita in Italia da Dynit sia in home video, che in streaming su VVVVID, Amazon Prime Video; dal 1° febbraio la troverete anche su Netflix. 

In arrivo, inoltre, anche l’atteso film sequel “Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train”, che ha sbancato i botteghini giapponesi infrangendo ogni record.
