What are your Fire Family ships? (Zuko, Mai, Izumi)

Not adding Iroh because well.

I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you.

I'll acknowledge this right off the bat: I am, perhaps, the only person in the entire fandom who doesn't have a Zuko ship because I am also the only person in the fandom who doesn't really care about Zuko. You'd think having fallen in love with his grandson I'd be into him, but I'm not. Toph was always my favorite Gaang member. I have a lot more thoughts on Toph ships.

I usually write Zuko with Mai because Izumi kind of looks like Mai, but this is mostly out of laziness. Maiko is fine. Good ship. But other Zuko ships are also fine and good. I have a lot of fandom friends who ship other Zuko ships with a passion and I have yet to find one that I'm really passionate about myself one way or another. I've even read some good Zhaoko. My default setting is crack. Someone please sell me on a good crack Zuko ship.

You include Mai, who isn't really Fire Fam unless you assume she's with Zuko. But my favorite Mai ship is hands down the crackship Mai/Piandao. Age gap knife ship! I love everything about this. Let Mai rebel and marry a kind older man and live in a mansion full of swords.

You did not include Azula. I adore Azula crackships as well. Azula/Joo Dee is my favorite I've written. There's a great Azula/Cupholder Girl fic. But of the more normal ships I'd probably say Sokkla. It's hot. Jetzula a close second. I like Azula with partners who could also maybe kill her back.

Izumi! Now we're in LOK territory, so I've thought more about this. Sadly still a likely unsatisfying answer because my main ship for Izumi is my own OC. Back before Izumi was a named character, Zuko's daughter was given a fanon name, Honora. Later on she became Izumi, but I decided I still liked the idea that Iroh II's mom was Honora. Ergo, Iroh now has two moms, Izumi and Honora, who have been happily married for 35 years. Honora is short, curvy, beautiful, bubbly FN noblewoman who loves food and fashion and tells Izumi to relax before she gives herself a heart attack. They're very good for each other. That aside though, I'm a fan of the crack ship I made up of Izumi/Hiroshi Sato.

And I do have an Iroh ship! Iroh deserves love, too. And he finds it... in Aunt Wu! Iroh x Aunt Wu is a total delight of a ship. There are also some great Iroh/OC ships where the OCs aren't mine.
