I always still find it weird that Tek has never properly shown Kazuya caring about Jin, even just slightly. Like it's so weird because they have him genuinely love Jun, but like... not her son? That's also his son? Like for the longest time, he assumed Jun was dead - Jin is literally all that's left of the first woman he's ever loved, yet he feels nothing about it? Like I'm not even saying for the series to depict him as a loving father - it's just weird that the series never shows him experiencing conflict, or hinting that he may care. Or hell, even show us Kazuya's THOUGHTS regarding Jun and how she had THEIR KID. Fuck, they could've delved into Kazuya maybe even feeling guilty that he left Jun alone with a child (albeit not REALLY his fault bc he was Le Killed, but still)

It's just so bizarre to me that TK8 is pushing the "Kazuya DOES genuinely love Jun!" (a good thing) yet still writing him as Evil Ruthless Villain toward their shared son.

Some people try to say "oh but he HESITATED killing Jin in the last fight!" But honestly... I think that's just people trying to see something that wasn't really there. Especially considering he tried to kill Jin already in the start of the game yet never hesitated - not to mention the other times in the series, or in the alternate "bad ending" lmao. I think what people thought was "hesitation" was Kazuya just being exhausted from fighting for probs like an hour lmao

Anyway, this is something that both annoys me and perplexes me.

Right? It's so weird. They say Kazuya is this complex, almost tragic individual. In 2 they nailed it, well as much as they could through the minimal story. Through him still treasuring Jun, Jinpachi and Kazumi. Then turn around and make him a saturday morning cartoon villan. The annoying thing is, during four, seven and five they tease this multi layer to him.

In his midsection of four, he asks what Heihachi did with Jin, even going with him into the most obvious trap ever. In the start of Heiachi and his own ending, He almost looks concerned for Jin before Devil takes over. Little baby Birds back then even thought he merged with Devil to save Jin. Then nooope, he cackles and kills everyone in his ending and that's it.

In five, He's seen genuinely respecting and caring for Jinpachi. We even see babbu Kaz and him training. He calls Jinpachi JiJi and it's so cute...aaand then he kills him and cackles.

In Seven, we finally get to see that tragic cliff scene in full and finally learn Kazuya's true motivation. The reason he has fallen so far. At just five years old. Heihachi killed Kazumi, Kazuya's mother. Nearly everything he's done. He's done to avenge her. Mirroring Jin's own past and motivations. Could this finally be the end of the cycle? Nah, Jin spends the entire game comatose. We find out Kazumi sent Akuma from the streets to kill Heihachi and Kazuya. (With a heartbroken moment of Kazuya reeling from the reveal.)

A show of his good side in how he tells his empolyees to flee instead of stupidly risking their lives ina fight they'd never win. Then the climatic, emotional final showdown between father and son. A tragedy born of greif and hatred coming to an end. Were Kazuya finally wins.. But is just so tired (and sad) to feel any kind of closure before Akuma strikes again.

.....aaaand then he goes on to take over the world again and Jin finally wakes up. He becomes even worse, indiscriminately killng his empolyeed and enemy combatants alike, tries to kill his own son with. As you said, no hesitation. While randomly empolying the woman that killed his old empolyee. While also somehow still loving Jun.

Oh and Heihacji isn't dead after all. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Vesper is absolutely spoiled by VM - they get better with it as time goes on [the Trickfoots have their own kids, and the rest have their responsibilities really settle in, and Vex and Percy learn that maybe spoiling a kid rotten isn't the best way to go] but this kid gets everything. Partially because she's the first baby and SO cute... partially because Vax just died and Vex is A Mess so they're all rallying to defeat this for her, for themselves, and it's very healing to make a lil baby smile and laugh.

Scanlan actually isn't the best at lullabies - the kids turn to Pike's huskier and softer voice at bedtime. Which Scanlan is Very Dramatic About, but he has the best songs for games and chores and good times and such. But Pike lulls them right to sleep, and also offers up sea shanties when they're working on chores as a family that require a rhythm.

Sorry, but you know Willhand'ildan absolutely fucking hates his name. He and Vax'ildan (Dan) bond over not really... knowing how to deal with being named after dead people, especially the same guy their parents feel guilty about not being able to save. So Dan and Wills actually end up being very close friends, and I HC they're fairly close friends too. I HC Dan as becoming a Druid in Zephrah, and if so he and Wills either send letters regularly or Wills works as a Tempest Blade there too (shhh hes FINE hes FINE he comes out COMPLETELY UNSCATHED SHHH).

Juniper's feelings are less complicated, because Scanlan had a lot more time to come to terms with his mother's death, and her name is a lot more common / namesake less well known so people don't immediately bug her about it. She feels really touched she has this connection to this woman only her dad knew.

Not v relevant but imagine an AU where Tary and Lawrence adopt a lil Fjord. (They both settle down in Port Damali, which is where Lawrence was living, and where Fjord grew up!) Consider Fjord with gay dads who absolutely trounce on standard ideas of masculinity from the word go, and also are prolific authors. Jester would get absolutely fucking starry-eyed when he tells her lmao

For Nat I went with a different angle, I made his birthday September 18th. Why? That's when pokemon B&W was released first in Japan! So that's the date I set to Nat's Birthday. He's just a sweet boy though and is happy enough to just be remembered. Though food is always a way to win him over. He's happy to share with anyone who asks and his Pokemon friends too! Best a sweet boy.

My bad end AU Naal, however.... I haven't set his just yet. He lacks the core memory of that time (I mean yeah, he'd have been a babbu) and his thoughts are foggy. He remembers little snippets of early memories and he remembers the chill of cold [which was brought away into the warmth when he was adopted by the Pokemon in the forest] attached to his early memories. So likely some time late fall through winter. Somewhere in there. Not that it entirely matters to him because he's never had his birthday be celebrated. Someone get my sad boy Naal a cake or two. The one thing i really hate is that error I made in inking...with the hand. Dear god I don't know what happened. I don't know what stupid fart my brain had to make all the other hands I drew look fine except that one, along with forgetting the layering of the leg. Oh and on Percy's shoulder too! Ugh...it's so gross, I'll see what I can do to fix those later. I've just had some really energy draining times so not now. But maybe when I try colouring... Oh, and I really have no idea why I made Thom's fingers so spiky? It was just how it turned out in penciling? And I went with it I guess? Try to pay it no mind unlike me

But what I am so proud turned out well are the poses. I've suddenly gotten way better at it! Stopped worrying so much about how it's supposed to look and just focus all brainpower on placing where I generally want it to go, then tweak as neccessary. I'm glad cuz I'm gonna need that skill for the future art for this project. I'mmmm cookin up some ideas here, it is gonna be a wild time
