More Than Friends
Tumblr media
This story is about six high school classmates and the trio of best friends. It is about Woo Yeon who has been in love with Lee Soo since high school and this one-sided love has spoiled her chances with others. . . It's about Young Hee whose economical situation turned her into an adult too soon and hides her struggles from her boyfriend. . . And it's about Jin Joo whose mother raised the bar unrealistically high and her daughter - a successfully professional - is clueless and gullible when it comes to dating. . .
Each woman struggles in their quest to hold on to love as they find their place in the world. We see a shadow of the guys' perspectives in this story. We get a wider view of Lee Soo but we only get a hint of Hyun Jae's life and basically nothing of depth regarding Sang Hyeok's life.
I could relate to Woo Yeon. I have experienced one-sided loves that wrapped me for decades, a love so strong that could make me turn my back to potential just to be back in his arms. I can also understand how scars can create an armor around her heart so strong that makes me doubt someone's feelings towards me. So I could understand her hesitation. . . She fell in love with Lee Soo, a young man whose parents' relationship had made him awkward and cold. He had been protecting himself by denying the fact that he did care about Won Yeon when they were younger. He kept saying he didn't love her but he did, it showed in everything he did and his need to be near her. Lee Soo is as awkward as his father and we see the dangers by taking a look at his parents now after their divorce. The connection always there, pulling them together in spite the hurt and misunderstanding. I liked that his parents also learned in the process of watching their son struggle with his love for Woo Yeon.
Young Hee is another character that I liked. I felt for her pain and struggle. She didn't want to drag Hyun Jae into her hardship and misery but - like he told her - she was driving him to his own misery. She was terrified of ending like her parents, and preferred to let Hyun Jae go so he could escape. But Hyun Jae loves her and is willing to walk the same path as her and he is sincere. He was patient with her and waited. I liked how Young Hee slowly understood and reached out to him. He wasn't perfect and I would have liked him to be more proactive when it came to the way his mother treated Young Hee, but he did stand up and put his foot down at the end. I would have liked to see more of his life. . .
Jin Joo was the studious one of the three young women. Her mother had motivated her to study by saying she would meet men like stars like Hyun Bin at the end of each milestone, but she never dated and thought of simple attention as if it meant a guy liked her. She was blind to the friend who always watched over her and truly liked her. This is the couple less developed. I would have liked to see more of how Sang Hyeok fell for her.
I had come into the story thinking this was a story about friends becoming lovers but Woo Yeon and Lee Soo were never truly friends in school because friendship entails knowing each other and they didn't know or understand the other, which is one if the reasons they had so many misunderstandings. The title can be applied more to the other two couples that had true friendship under their belts.
Joon Soo's character was clingy and sometimes annoying for me because he was so insistent even when he knew he was making her uncomfortable.
In any case, the story is not perfect but is nice and entertaining. If you are looking for a light romance, this one is nice.

Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness

Here’s the remaining threads left unanswered as of ep 10, as well as other things:
Aka: I’m this guy right here
Tumblr media
1. Why was Baek Ji-eun’s earring found in Sung Joon’s car?
2. Jung Man Chun’s testimony conflicted with Sung Hoon’s presentation of the evidence in court. Jung Man Chun claimed that a car (presumably Sung Joon’s) drove past him and Baek Ji-eun while Sung Joon claims that it was a delivery bike that drove past them. Which was it that was correct?
3. Why did Jung Man Chun confidently state that he saw Sung Joon on the night of the kidnapping, only to backtrack when Sung Hoon visits him in the hospital later on?
4. Sung Joon never gives his alibi in court on where he was the nigh Baek Ji-eun was kidnapped and murdered
5. Who was the motorist who helped Jung Man Chun escape the prison bus and provided him with a motorcycle to get away?
6. If Choi Do-il is convinced that no. 13 is Sung Joon, and that no. 13 was the one who gave the second blow to Choi Do-il’s head, was it a) Sung Joon who delivered the second blow, b) Choi Do-il realized that no.13 was someone else, or c) Sung Hoon lied about Choi Do-il’s last words?
7. If no. 11 (now confirmed to be Sung Hoon), gave Yoon Jae his necklace, how does Sung Joon have the same necklace? And why did Sung Joon say that his sister gave that necklace to him given that Sung Joon is NOT Yoon Jae?
8. Who poisoned Kang Young Ki’s drink to serve as a distraction and give time to murder Kang Ha-na?
Things to point out: 1. In ep 2, Jung Man Chun says “everyone in this courtroom will die” after his failed attempt to assault/assassinate Sung Hoon. Naturally with that chilling threat, all eyes would be on him; except one apparently.
Tumblr media
In-seong has other priorities.
He’s either looking at Sung Hoon, Sung Joon, or both. Given that Sung Hoon is confirmed to be no.11, and our suspicions that In-seong is one of the kids from the center, it is likely that In-seong either recognized or already knew Sung Hoon as no.11 followed by Choi Do-il later on in the hospital. (I suspect that Chief Yeom also recognizes Sung Hoon, though maybe it hasn’t clicked) 2. In-seong is seen to be either secretive and dishonest about himself. He doesn’t share about where he works until pressed further by Charles, and when he is pressed further, he gives his namecard and says he’s in customer service. But later we find his nametag states that he’s an engineer. We also know that he works well with computers and malware.
3. Sung Hoon is capable of taking Sung Joon’s car keys in the middle of the night
My personal theories:
1. Yoon Jae’s death was faked. The only person who said he’s dead was a nun who’d never stepped foot into the center before, while those working in the center had no clue that Yoon Jae had died, all along suspecting him to be Sung Joon. My hunch is that it was no.12 who had succumbed to his ankle injury, and Yoon Jae swapped identities with him in the records and the possible chaos when the center was abruptly shut down.
This theory is further pushed by the fact that the Joker murderer has a photo of Yoon Jae, Yoon Jung and Gabriel together, implying that the revenge is for the trio.
2. The revenge plot is not done by one person alone but by both Sung Hoon and In-seong. This would tie up the thread of Sung Joon’s car being used to kidnap Baek Ji-eun, and the other thread that is the elaborate set-up to livestream Ahn Tae-ho’s execution and divert the IP to avoid detection from the police.
There’s also the fact that Sung Hoon was keeping the drone video camera recording of the murder of Jung Man Chun. The placement of the drone was something that he could’ve planned in advance with an accomplice in an attempt to gather evidence against Baek Moon Kang and was forced to bring to light earlier than planned to free his brother and get his adopted mom off his back.
3. If we go with the theory that Sung Hoon is involved with the revenge plot, it is highly possible that he might’ve initially wanted to pin the murders on Sung Joon and put him in jail, not anticipating that Jung Man Chun and his family would be murdered and that Sung Joon would get kidnapped, tortured and brought close to death. Wanting to send someone to jail is not the same as wanting someone to get tortured and murdered; and Sung Joon getting kidnapped and framed for the murder of Jung Man Chun and his family would’ve possibly thrown a wrench in an otherwise very elaborate revenge plot.
4. There are theories that Charles is one of the kids in the center, but given what we’ve learned about his family and his missing brother in ep 10, it seems that his family is the one involved in the center and not him personally
5. Just as anyone could get a leg injury for any number of reasons, anyone could develop a fear of dogs for any number of reasons; and that is most likely the case for Sung Joon. His fear of dogs was written in as a red herring to have us wrongly assume he was Yoon Jae; just as we wrongly assumed Ahn Tae-ho was no. 12.

Lee Sun-gyun, falsely framed for murder..
Tumblr media
Actor Lee Seon-gyun of 'Bob-Jun' was framed for an unfair murder, and Moon Chae-won fell into a coma.
Eun-yong (Lee Seon-kyun) and Park Joon-kyung (Moon Chae-won) were in danger in the SBS drama 'Bobjun', which aired on the 21st.
On this day, Eun-yong went to Jang Tae-chun (played by Kang Yoo-seok) and said, “If I hide, you will get hurt. There is only one way. In this way, he surrendered himself and said through the media, "I was a good partner with the CEO. I was with reliable friends. The prosecution will investigate everything."
Eun-yong, who was sent to prison, met the prison guards and was confined somewhere. At this time, Chairman Myeong (played by Kim Hong-pa), who was in prison, appeared and tried to cut his wrist, saying, "Give me strength from now on." Eun-yong started a fight to avoid this. One of the gang members stabbed Eun-yong in the thigh with an awl, and Eun-yong, who was fighting against it, picked up the awl and pretended to kill someone, but was struck back.
The next day, the police called Jang Tae-chun (Kang Yoo-seok) and said, "Fingerprints came out from the awl used as the murder weapon. The situation made it that way. All the prisoners at the scene pointed to my uncle. Kim Seong-tae's gangsters were beaten and the situation was absolutely unfavorable. He is a red-handed criminal for murder," he said.
At this time, Myung Se-hee (played by Son Eun-seo) called Jang Tae-chun and suggested a sweet temptation, saying, "Mr.
Jang Tae-choon met Park Joon-kyung and tried to persuade him, but it didn't seem to work. However, Park Joon-kyung handed over the USB to Jang Tae-choon and headed to her press conference. However, he was attacked and his shoulder was bleeding.
The USB was delivered by Jang Tae-chun to Congressman Baek, and Congressman Baek joined hands with Chairman Myeong. Eun-yong's murder was eventually sentenced to three years in prison for assault and death in prison. Eun-yong said, "You can't win any fight if you lose your composure. You are driven to the edge of a cliff several times a day. The reason you always win in this brutal and terrible game of money is your composure. But you don't need it anymore. Fighting against beasts is just hell." It's just one thing," he said, slapping Chairman Myeong's gang.
Time passed and a month later, Park Joon-kyung was still in a coma due to hemorrhagic shock. Hwang Ki-seok (played by Park Hoon), who sent Eun-yong to prison, was rather called the 'Yeouido Secret Royal Inspector', and Eun-yong took over the prison and became an existence that no one could touch.
