Kodzuken x Streamer!Y/N
Pairing: Kenma Kozume x Fem!Reader
Genre: SMAU, Written Elements, Strangers to Lovers, Romance, Fluff, Humor, Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Streamer/Youtuber AU
Upcoming content creator/streamer, Y/N, has gone viral for lots of things. Her infamous dumb moments, her blended cookie recipe (which tastes better than it sounds), the way she rages at her friends during games, and about a hundred more.
But her most recent viral moment? Accidentally knocking famous streamer, Kodzuken, off the Bedwars map and making him lose his two year winning streak.
Now with more attention (and hate) than she ever asked for, her only option left is to go to the source: the man himself, Kenma Kozume.

Chapter 2 (a): Bedwars
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word Count: 2171
“Hey guys,” you smile at your webcam, “How’s everyone’s night been so far?” You adjust to get just a bit more comfortable, wrapping your favorite blanket around your legs as you observe their responses in chat.
“Oh my god you had sushi for dinner? That sounds so good.” You lean forward to get a closer look, “Awe thank you. I tried so hard to do my makeup today,” you inform everyone when you see a compliment fly past. “It took me like four business days to finish my eyeliner,” you roll your eyes at the memory.
You start humming softly as you read through chat, prompting everyone to start spamming for music and making you smile. “Okay okay, I get it guys I’ll put some music on.”
You pull open Spotify, selecting one of your favorite non-copyrighted playlists, “Is that loud enough? Oh- too loud?” You turn it down by about twenty percent, “Is that better?”
You grin, letting yourself relax against the back of your chair. “I don’t really have a plan for the stream; I just wanted to kind of chat for a little bit, explain why I was in the hospital and stuff.”
YOU WERE IN THE HOSPITAL????
You laugh when you see the message, realizing too late that you’d probably just dropped a bomb on everyone who doesn’t follow you on any of your other social media. “Oh yeah, sorry guys.” You suddenly snort, “Did someone just say I was in hospice for being dumb?”
You shake your head subconsciously, “Even funnier though is that they’re kind of right.”
You reach forward to grab the bottle of water resting on your desk, “Don’t worry it’s not anything serious. Like at all.” You pause to take a brief sip of the iced liquid, cringing at how cold it is when it enters your mouth. “Holy shit,” you shudder, “That was so fucking cold.”
You take a deep breath to regain your composure.
“Anyways, so basically I fell and hit my head yesterday and my friends just wanted to take me to the hospital to make sure I didn’t get a concussion or anything. And then it turned out that I was actually - like - super dehydrated so they wanted to give me an IV drip to get some fluids in me.” You lift your water bottle pointedly, “Hence the new addition to the stream.”
Normally you’d rarely ever have water during a stream, and if you did it was kept in a much smaller bottle. It’s different now though (your roommate made sure of that) since your current water bottle is big enough to cover your entire face if you were to hold it up.
“But now I am a-okay and in perfect condition. Well, mostly anyways.”
You spend some time just singing along to the music and responding to some of the messages you see in chat. You feel yourself relaxing as you talk with everyone, your tense shoulders loosening and your voice growing just a bit louder as you get more comfortable.
You’re always nervous to stream at first, despite having done it hundreds of times by now. You don’t think you’ll ever not be nervous to be completely honest. It was such a surreal experience, to be able to be so closely connected with so many different people from so many different places, that you were terrified of ever losing it.
“Oh my god you guys. So I made some pumpkin muffins with chocolate chips in them the other day and they are literally like the best thing I’ve probably ever baked in my life.”
Better than your blended cookies?
You roll your eyes, “Oh ha ha; you guys act like you’ve tried it. I promise you all that it’s literally ten times better than it sounds. I’ll have to post the recipe at some point because I genuinely think a lot of you would love them.”
I can attest to that ✋
“Sho,” you excitedly exclaim as you see your friend’s username. “You guys know Shoyo right?” You feel your head tilt, watching the varying responses flood your chat box. “Well if you don’t know who he is, he’s literally - like - famous for playing volleyball.”
I love Hinata! I met him once and he was so nice.
You nod rapidly in agreement, “Yes! He’s seriously gotta be the nicest person I’ve ever met.”
“Do you want to get on call with me?” You direct the question towards your close friend, subconsciously biting your lip as you await his answer.
Still at practice unfortunately 🙁
You pout, “Oh no.” With a small sigh, “I just don’t know what to do now. You got any suggestions, chat?”
You read as many messages as you can, eyebrows furrowing further the longer you sit there.
“I’m seeing a lot of minecraft; do we wanna play a bit of minecraft?” You hum in thought, swaying in your chair as you consider the idea. “How about Bedwars?”
Chat practically erupts at your words, capitalized letters and emotes flying by so fast that you don’t get any chance to read a single one. “Okay okay,” you laugh, “I get it.”
You set your water bottle back down, adjusting your keyboard to sit properly before grabbing your mouse. “Let’s play some Bedwars I guess.”
~~~
“Fuck you!”
You groan as you release your mouse, throwing your head back in annoyance as you die yet once again.
“How the fuck do I keep on dying? Literally what the fuck!” You chance a glance at your chat, hiding a smile at their reaction to your raging. You’ll admit it, while you are actually frustrated with the game, you’re definitely playing it up just a little bit for your audience.
You don’t wait for the round to end after you die, leaving the game and immediately running to join another one. You’ve been playing in teams of three, hoping that having the extra assistance would help you stay alive longer.
So far it’s proved to be completely futile.
“We’re definitely gonna win this one you guys,” you say just as the round begins. “Me-,” you pause to look at your teammate’s usernames, “PinkyFluff_22 and Kodzuken are going to absolutely demolish everyone else.”
What did she just sayyyyyyy 😳
I’m sorry you and WHO????
No way she’s playing with who I think she’s playing with
One in a million chance lol
Wtf
“What is everyone freaking out about?” You question as you patiently wait to collect some iron and gold, watching one of your teammates begin to cover the bed with a measly defense of red wool. “Kodzuken?”
You buy some wood and Endstone from the villager before purchasing a slightly better sword than the wooden one you were given. “Oh they stream?”
Girl 💀
How do you not know who he is?????
“Bro I don’t know,” you shrug, “I just work here okay.”
You sprint over to the bed, breaking the wool to replace it with the Endstone, layering the wood on top, and then finally placing the wool around it again. “I guess I’ll be bed defense then,” you say as you notice that you’re the only person left on the island.
“Oh shit someone’s coming!” You duck behind the giant cube of wool, watching the name tag get progressively closer to your island. You jump out as soon as you feel like they’re close enough, attacking the unaware oncomer and knocking them off the island within a few easy hits.
“Fuck yeah!” You jump around excitedly, proud of the way your plan was actually successful this time. “See that? I told you I’m not bad!”
You abruptly flinch as your character turns and comes face to face with another player. “Holy shit!” You release a sigh of relief as you realize it’s only your teammate, Kodzuken. “That scared me so bad. Oh my god,” you release your mouse briefly to place your hand on your chest.
While you’re distracted trying to calm your heartbeat, Kodzuken suddenly stops before you. “What is he doing?” But before you even have time to be suspicious he suddenly drops a pile of diamonds and emeralds on the ground.
You blink.
“Huh?” He looks pointedly at the gems then back up at you and back down, lightly tapping the block they’re floating on. “Is he giving them to me?”
You glance over at your chat, your character finally going into motion when you realize they’re all screaming at you to go pick them up. “Jesus, sorry. I got them, see? Look, I’m picking them up right now.”
You collect everything on the ground, crouching and un-crouching multiple times as a way to thank him. “Oh- shit,” you pause as a popup suddenly appears, “Stupid sticky keys!”
By the time you manage to exit out of the window, Kodzuken is nowhere to be found. “Well,” you look at your webcam, “That was unexpected.”
You quickly open game chat to send him a private message as fast as you possibly can.
“Thanks :)”
It’s the best you can do with the little time you have but you hope he appreciates it nonetheless.
“Okay, I’m gonna up our bed defense.” You repeat the earlier process all over again, only this time you add obsidian and make the outer layer made of wood. “Now that’s like literally impenetrable.”
You upgrade your sword to a bow and arrows before purchasing some TNT and fireballs and buying the Miner’s Fatigue trap. “Now the real question is whether I try to attack the bases next to us or not.”
Attackkkkkk
You’re gonna die
Kill them
We believe in you
“I guess it’s decided then,” you quickly shake out your hands. “Okay,” your voice fades as you run across the bridge you could only assume one of your teammate’s made.
You’re extremely quiet as you make your way across, keeping your eyes on the island next to you and turning back every now and then to check on your own. You’re biting your lip as you slowly make your way across the rival team’s bridge, crouching the entire time to hide your name.
You’re roughly twenty blocks away when you take the next step. Still crouching, you aim a fireball at their seemingly wool covered bed. “Yes!” You cheer as it makes its mark, blowing up the wool and revealing wood below it.
You know that you’ve alerted the players at this point (there’s no way you haven’t) so all you can do is run into the fire.
You’re panicking as you place some TNT around the bed, running away and into a player from the enemy team as it explodes. You use your mediocre sword to hit them away from you, mentally sighing as they get hit back enough for you to run away. “Oh my god oh my god oh my god,” you sprint towards the now revealed blue bed.
“Blue Bed was destroyed by Soft_Paws!”
You squeal out of both fear and excitement, adrenaline racing through you as you’re attacked by two of the blue players at once. You throw a fireball at them, shouting for joy when one of them is successfully knocked off the island.
“Holy shit!”
The next player is harder to kill, your health rapidly deteriorating as you battle with nothing but a stone sword and your adrenaline.
You have one heart left when it finally happens.
“Ecstasy.png was killed by Soft_Paws”
“Yes!” You kick your feet out, jumping up from your chair with your excitement before remembering that you’re still in a game. “Holy fuck I did it. I actually did it, you guys!”
She’s CRACKED
LETS GOOOO
WOOOOO
YEEEEESSSSSS
~~~
Roughly five minutes later, you’re still in the round. Everyone’s bed has been broken at this point but there are still three teams that are yet to be eliminated, yours included.
You’re sort of just hiding at the base, watching the chaos from afar as your one and only teammate left (Kodzuken) goes on a murder spree.
He’s running back to the team’s island when the incident occurs.
All you see is yellow leather armor and a yellow name tag, sprinting on the bridge connecting your base to the emerald island. You don’t even consider the fact that they’re currently being chased down by your teammate, you just aim.
Your aim is exceptionally good, so good in fact that the explosion knocks off both the yellow player and Kodzuken.
You freeze at the realization, your mouth falling open in complete horror as you piece together what you’d just done.
“I did not just do that,” you whisper, mostly to yourself as the events replay in your mind. “Oh my god,” you facepalm - forgetting (once again) that you’re still actually alive and participating in the game - and completely missing the person running towards you on the other bridge.
You hear the sound of something being attacked, echoing through your headphones and making your eyebrows furrow with confusion.
You abruptly gasp, but by then it’s too late.
You’re dead. And your team has lost.

The Interview
Sabrina’s agent set her up with a gig of a lifetime. An interview with a movie star on her Simtube Channel. Sabrina is just a video game streamer. This is big time. This is mainstream. The actor in question? Satoru Gojo, an international superstar. She’s a big fan of his work and is super excited that he got the lead role in a movie adaptation of her favorite video games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For it to be her first interview, it went incredibly well. He was easy going and funny. His stories were well told and engaging. She could literally listen to him all day. It didn’t help that every time he said her name, she felt a flutter in her chest. That’s new. She found herself easily flustered which she has never experienced before.
He’s attractive, very attractive. Sabrina isn’t blind to that. She may be asexual, but she is capable of noticing these things. Holding eye contact with him made her nervous. Their interview was only meant to last 20 mins max, but he kept talking as if he wasn’t ready to leave. His agent appeared to be pretty pissed off screen. He had a schedule to keep, but it didn’t matter to him.
Tumblr media
(Sabrina’s awkwardness intensifies)
The focus of the interview turned to her, going completely off script. Satoru wanted to learn as much as he could about her. She blushed at every compliment he gave. That’s also new to her cause usually she doesn’t care or is very dismissive of it. This time its different. She just couldn’t figure out why.
After a bit of off screen harassments from his agent, he announced his departure.
Tumblr media
He smelled nice. Very expensive. In a plot twist Sabrina didn’t expect, he asked for her number.
Tumblr media
What was she going to say? No. Absolutely not. Of course she gave him her number.
The Interview went viral. It’s the biggest hit on her channel. Millions of his fans swarmed to her video leaving all sorts of thirsty comments that made Sabrina laugh.
A few days later, an unknown number popped up on her phone. It was him letting her know he’s in town and asking her to lunch. She squealed. Another new thing for her. Who squeals over a non-date lunch with an attractive guy? Apparently her.
Tumblr media
As she arrived at the sushi spot he told her about, a friend of his was preparing to leave.
Tumblr media
He introduced her to Suguru Geto, his best friend and editor-in-chief of Couture Magazine. She knew him well as a renowned photographer.  Suguru greeted her with a kiss on the back of the hand before making his exit. Her heart fluttered AGAIN. This reaction started to freak her out. It’s not her normal.
This lunch became the prelude to several lunches over the next few months.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She became the first person he’d visit when he’s in town. Naturally, their friendship flourished. At the same time she got to know Suguru a lot better as well. They were a package deal in a sense and she liked them both. Platonically of course . . . for now.
(I’m not a fan fic writer, but I do read so I’m a little inspired lol. Also I didn’t make Gojo or Geto, I found good enough ones in the gallery and added cc I found. Also as a reminder, Sabrina is my enhanced simself.)

if we mean practically then i have really bad knees and i recently busted them again so its been really hard getting up and down stairs lately and bending over
but idk theres not really much. emotionally i just tend to get withdrawn and timid in public so it can be hard for me to speak up when i go out
What is one scene from a book that makes you really sad?
unfortunately i haven’t read as many books lately as i did when i was younger...so a lot of my memories are from books that i read like as a kid lol......THAT BEING SAID i think rue and finnick’s death in the hunger games was truly heartbreaking to read, the spine of my copies of both books have cracks on those pages bc i had to read it several times just to really believe it. also i thought it was written so heart wrenchingly well that i had to go back.  also in looking for alaska when pudge, a man who loved to know people’s last words, realized that he would never know alaska’s last words. im also really thankful for that book bc it introduced me to wh auden’s poetry and to this day he’s still one of my favorite poets of all time.
Say something to your followers:
thank you thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU for following me and for some reason deciding to stay after how many times i act up on the daily. all jokes aside i really appreciate every single one of you no matter the number and i sincerely hope that you always have love and joy in your heart and that 2019 treats you well. i HONESTLY mean it when i say that i am always here if you guys want to talk or send me things or roast me or talk shit seriously i wanna hear it all and talk about it all i think all of you are so interesting and so beautiful and i’d love to get to know more about you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS! yeet!

Ice skating Au
Because I just watched 4CC and I need to (obviously) push real life onto anime characters: THERE IS A REASON FOR THE CUT HERE
Seishun skating club, aka Seigaku:
(main)Trainers: Ryuuzaki Sumire, Tezuka Kunimitsu, Oishi Shuichiro
Senior skaters, singles men: Fuji Shuuske(20), Kikumaru Eiji (19still)
Junior skaters, men: Katou Kachiro, Mizuno Katsuo, Echizen Ryoma (moving to Seniors this year at age 16)
Senior Skaters, Ladies: ??? What’s that
Junior skaters, Ladies: Ryuuzaki Sakuno (moving to seniors this year at age 16)
Pair skaters, Senior: Tachibana Ann&Momoshiro Takeshi, ???&Kaidoh Kaoru (he can’t find a partner to communicate well with, and Ann is taken by that dumbass...)
There is no Dance seniors in Seigaku. Some people hope the Juniors would move up this year like their singles counterparts, but they’re...welll...
Dance skaters, junior: Osakada Tomoka&Horio Satoshi (who the hell paired them up?!)
Therapist: Kawamura Takashi
Club Manager: Inui Sadaharu
More info because I suck:
0. All of the main coaches had been active skaters at one point- Sumire took part in two Olympics during her age and won one bronze; Tezuka had been a star that is considered pushing the sport to higher limits, at least until he didn’t pushed his body past its limit. He still pushes the sport, but from the sidelines now. Oishi had the most versatile career, changing to Pairs and then to dance once it turned out an injury he thought nothing of turned out to pull him back in singles career, then let his partner in Pair go to allow her more evolution with younger (and stronger) partner(it was him who proposed side-by side axel though). He haven’t got the Dance career, as he was just a training partner to his little sister while she searched for a partner with less age gap (there’s almost seven years between her and Shuuichiro).
1. Sumire works with all skaters coming to the club, but lets Tezuka and Oishi chose and focus on skaters they think might develop under their wings, the only exception being Echizen, who she pushed to Tezuka ever since the brat moved to Juniors from Novice.
2. This makes things look weird, because so far the only skater Tezuka accepted to train had been Fuji, earning him the name Tensai. Right now Fuji is trained by both Tezuka and Oishi. Oishi is the one who rides with him to competitions most often, though people noticed it’s Kawamura who goes with him EVERY TIME...
3.Oishi thought he had it hard when he started training Kikumaru Eiji- he had been proven otherwise. Still, the trio gets along pretty nicely,and the fact that Eiji and Fuji are relatively even all rounders, they tend to pull each other up a lot.
4. Fuji’s birthday are in the second half of the season, Eiji’s are relatively at the beginning, which means they compete for at least first half as the peers, but nobody really pays attention to that, except for Eiji. The fact that age gap between skaters and their coaches (well, most of them) is less than five years is noticed, though.
5. Oishi, being the only coach with Pairs and Dance experience, trains reps for both disciplines, though it seems it wasn’t his idea to put Osakada&Horio team together...
6. There is a suspection it’s Inui who keeps the selection of Kaidoh partners so hard, though it seems Oishi Rika might just pass it, considering how cute she is,and how most people know how Kaidoh is a secret softie (which might cause problem during twists...)
7.Eiji is considered to have the most balance between jumps power and flexibility on the field, and his spins are one of the highlights of his programs, though he prefers jumps (yeah, he’s the show off kid). The legendary video of him doing a hyperextended Biellman during the training got viral thanks to one Fuji Shuuske, and it got a ‘not so bad for a man’ comments from a lot of female skaters.
8. Fuji on the other hand is one of those flawless artists who get more Rippons and Tanos (aka hands above the head during jump) than they do the spins without travelling. Oh and people love his expressions on-ice- his another nickname is Ice Angel. Some discuss that it’s too ladylike though...until they see his quads.
9. Echizen is hoped to finish the troika of Seigaku, as Eiji and Fuji have been trading gold and silver in every competition they take part in together for some time now. The reason is, while most people admits Fuji at his fullest is unreachable, he rarely gives his all, doing just enough to get above the others, and Eiji is...well, hard to predict even on his good day-during the competition he’s more of an enigma than a human. This means, if Fuji overcalculate, he ends up with silver. He almost always gets revenge on the next competition.
10. Eiji has a tendency to flip his skates guards around his hand before handing them over to Oishi. Apparently, Oishi has learned how to read from the twirl how fired up redhead is. Inui is still working on how he does that, Tezuka has given up. Ryuuzaki just laugh when it’s brought up in conversation.
11. Talks about nepotism sometimes hit skaters, especially Sakuno. Since everybody knows how damn hard the girl is fighting for her position, Ann will personally kick your ass if you say something about Sakuno...of course, she’ll be representing all of the Seigaku feels, not only hers!
12. Speaking of An, she moved over from the training base under her brother to switch partners (Ibu & Kamio both are bitter about it af, but it was Tachibanas decision so they can’t protest). Even after she left she gets regular updates on what Fudoumine club is up to. She is actually the bonding element between Fudoumine and Seigaku, her older brother also being one of the more famous coaches. (Tachibana Kippei and Oishi often bond over their fear for their little sisters being chucked into air like that)
13. Nobody knows who the hell paired Tomoka and Horio up, especially as dance partners, since their characters (supposedly) makes them more suitable for Pairs, but Oishi don’t want to know how letting Horio throw Tomoka would end.
14. If Eiji doesn’t make at least one program during the season, either short, long or exhibition to a cheerful, fun pop/rock music, consider him sick- or a loser in the bet against Fuji. It happened before.
15. Nobody lets Oishi chose their music for themselves- he either overreacts to the importance of new duty, or chose something reeeeally weird (Fuji pulled out his sea waves exhibition somehow, but- again- it’s Fuji)
16. On the other hand, everybody constantly lets Fuji and Kawamua chose music/ color palette for their costumes. They’re known as misters Good Tastes of Seigaku.
17. The only accident that put a question mark on their judgement was one of the galas where Fuji’s costume looked surprisingly like salmon nigiri with a lot of wasabi...he still pulled it off, and apparently, it was his own suggestion.
18.Karupin is a living mascot of Ryoma, and thus he gets a ton of himalayan mascots from his fans, pretty much like Eiji gets teddy bears of all kind, and Fuji gets the weirdest stuff girls can think of. He even keeps the wasabi sushi mascot from one of his competitions.
Oishi-Kikumaru Pair:
There’s a bit of complicated situation at the beginning of both Eiji’s and Oishi Rika’s careers, the complication being why Oishi and Eiji actually met. Rika was originally a dance skater without a partner suitable for competing for her age(Oishi being only the training partner to keep the synchronization and lift skills thaining in her regime), and Eiji started skating as a pair partner to his older sister. After said sister retired due to her body not managing the pressure (a fact for which Eiji is secretly blaming himself), he is suggested to transfer to dance while his body (and stamina) develops enough to be able to freely support his partner; it’s where he meets Oishi, at that moment searching for a dance partner for his sister.
 Rika is actually interested, since she wanted to try Pair competition for some time, but knew her brother injury (a wrist) wouldn’t let him pair with her without anxiety of her safety (she’s right), so she jumps at the chance when she is paired with Eiji. After learning, and eventually winning some novice competitions that allow them to move to juniors, it’s Rika who breaks their pairing up, feeling the raising anxiety of her partner (and his growing affection for her brother, nii-sama, why do you have to steal all the good guys) and making Eiji admit to himself that he wants to show off.
She and her brother disagree but still respect Eiji’s reason of Him “Rather skating where he can hurt only himself and not his lil sis” (Rika is getting a lot of little sister-zoned, lol). Rika paired with few others skaters until she wasn’t offered by Ryuuzaki to come to Seigaku. Thanks to her lithe frame (she never got past 160cm) and accuracy on par with her brother’s, she has a big chance of becoming Kaidoh’s partner and moving to Seniors- provided she won’t get too fired up by rumors of nepotism in Seigaku. She’s as overprotective of her older brother as he is of her.
Surprisingly, she gets along with Ryoma and (of all people) Osakada-Horio pair.
Ship theories, just because:
1.Contrary to the public belief, Ann and Momoshiro don’t date. They’re best buds, okay, but Ann prefers brunets...or...brunettes... the fact Momo doesn’t mind boys either makes it easier for them to bond.
2. Inui bases qualification of Kaidoh’s partners on how he behaves around them. Since Rika is a December baby born year after Kaidoh, he treats her like his little sister (a lot of approval from Oishi) rather than partner, but Inui still worries if this is enough to show a good performance in well, pairs. Then again, it means...
3. Pillar Pair won’t exist unless Ryoma turns eighteen, or so Tezuka says. Fuji is more than glad to help his kouhai change his coach’s mind, especially since this means he doesn’t have to worry about newcomer stealing HIS therapist...
4. Golden Pair is as fluffy as they always are, though Oishi made it obvious that he won’t let Eiji get into anything serious until he turns twenty- nobody waits for the first half of the season more than Eiji do, especially since one of the galas are planned for his birthday, and he has a great exhibition planned for it, thanks to Fujiko.
5. They are also fluffy until it gets to quad practice, where Eiji whines all the time-and Fuji sometimes join, without whining, tho-since Oishi forbid both of them from trying quad axels, despite both of them being the most consistent edge jumpers in the whole Seigaku. Currently, there is a war going on for the Lutz Fuji is training while Eiji is still on the Loop and Flip. Oishi is as stubborn as his trainees though.

(Love you too, pff)
Put a thing in my inbox for a random fact about the mun.
* The song the mun is listening to while writing this is “Sonderzug nach Pankow” on Schlager radio. Though apparently only the instrumental version?? Schlager Radio is weird.
* The mun has one tattoo so far, on the back of her neck. More are to come eventually.
* The mun prefers pizza from the freezer over fresh pizza from a delivery service.
* Furthermore, the mun eats her sushi deep fried and filled with cooked chicken.
* The mun has a bad habit of easily getting excited and starting new projects all the time while losing interest in them almost as quickly again.
* The mun was 17 when she got her first kiss, which was at a New Years party from a guy who she knew had a girlfriend but had been hitting on her for ages anyway, and later turned out to be a drug addict.
* The mun’s most valuable possessions are two ancient stuffed toys. She would save those first out of a fire, even if it meant she has to leave her hard drive and laptop behind.
* The mun has had a very intense and very long Naruto phase in her teens which she still hasn’t quite gotten over yet. Among the fanfictions she published was also a poem that went viral in the German fandom and popped up copied onto profiles EVRYWHERE. Her best friend knew the poem before she got to know the mun.

Until this week, Salt Bae was best known as an Instagram-famous chef. He wears tight V-necks, owns a global chain of high-end steakhouses, and entertains his celebrity clients by sensuously sprinkling salt on thick slabs of meat.
Since becoming a meme in January 2017, he has accrued more than 15 million followers on Instagram, where he regularly posts videos of himself searing, cutting, and salting expensive cuts of beef.
The on Monday night, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) thrust Salt Bae into the center of an international diplomatic crisis.
Rubio called out the Instagram-famous butcher Monday night for posting a video of himself serving a steak dinner to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his entourage. “This guy… who admires dictator @NicolasMaduro so much actually owns a steakhouse in, of all places, #Miami,” Rubio tweeted. He also tweeted out the restaurant’s address and phone number, “in case anyone wanted to call.”
It’s not surprising that Rubio, who represents an increasingly Venezuelan-American constituency and has previously suggested the US military should intervene in the country, criticized Maduro for getting dinner at an expensive steakhouse while his own people suffer from malnourishment.
But Rubio’s condemnation of Salt Bae also serves as a reminder that for celebrities and restaurant owners alike, hobnobbing with political figures can easily be interpreted as a sign of their own politics.
Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, is a butcher, chef, and restaurateur from Turkey.
His real claim to fame, though, was this video of his signature salting technique that went viral in January 2017. Gökçe capitalized on his 15 minutes of Insta-fame by expanding his namesake steakhouse, Nusr-Et — which already had several locations in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates — to New York and Miami.
Gökçe’s flick-of-the-wrist salting style quickly inspired copycats, merch, and Halloween costumes. People have painted murals of him, and he has his own wax sculpture. He even parodied his #SaltBae pose while casting his vote during the April 2017 Turkish referendum, though he declined to say how he voted.
The food at Salt Bae’s restaurants around the world isn’t particularly good, critics say, and it’s overpriced — steaks at Nusr-Et’s New York City location run from $70 to $275, according to the New York Observer — but it doesn’t seem to matter. Gökçe may have been a meme at one point, but his internet fame catapulted him to full-fledged celebrity chef status in less than a year. He’s salted and served meat to plenty of celebrities, including J Balvin, Naomi Campbell, Diddy, Drake, and DJ Khaled — and, yes, Nicolás Maduro.
Maduro recently stopped by one of Nusr-Et’s Istanbul locations following a four-day trip to China, during which he secured a $5 billion loan from the Chinese government in an attempt to salvage Venezuela’s collapsing economy.
Gökçe, who seems to love free publicity as much as he does expensive meat, posted several videos from the dinner on his Instagram page, which have since been deleted but were re-uploaded by the Miami Herald.
In one video, Gökçe cuts up slabs of beef for Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. In another, he presents Maduro with a T-shirt of himself. Slate reported that another video showed the pair hugging, with Maduro telling Gökçe, “See you soon in Caracas.”
This would all be pretty regular stuff for Gökçe, who regularly touts celebrity visits to his restaurants, if Maduro weren’t the de facto dictator of a country that has been plagued by corruption, inflation, and widespread famine for several years.
On average, Venezuelans lost about 24 pounds in bodyweight in 2017, and 90 percent of the country’s residents live in poverty. Many Venezuelans report going hungry because they can’t afford to buy food: The country’s inflation hit 82,700 percent in July, making food prices soar. A 1-kilogram packet of rice cost 2.5 million bolívars in August, according to a Reuters report.
An estimated 2.3 million Venezuelans now live abroad, and many have fled to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, and the United States in recent years, according to the United Nations.
Though Maduro won a recent election — which was likely rigged, as two of the country’s most popular opposition leaders were prohibited from running against him — by a landslide, he remains deeply unpopular even among his own supporters.
For Maduro’s opponents in Venezuela and elsewhere, seeing the country’s leader eat expensive steaks and smoke cigars while average citizens suffer from malnourishment is beyond insulting.
Gökçe’s Instagram has been flooded by commenters furious with him for serving Maduro. “You’re an accomplice of murderous regimes like that of Nicolas Maduro,” one person commented on a photo of Gökçe smoking a cigar. Others weren’t as civil.
On Twitter, users have begun sharing illustrations of Gökçe sprinkling salt on starving Venezuelans under the hashtags #MaduroSeJartaConTUDinero — “Maduro stuffs himself with your money” — and #ShameOnYouSaltBae. The chef hasn’t responded to the backlash, but he did delete the videos of himself with Maduro from his Twitter.
It’s also telling that Rubio was among the first to call out Salt Bae, even if he said on Twitter that he didn’t know who the famous chef was. The Venezuelan exile community is particularly large in Florida, especially amid the country’s recent outpouring of refugees.
Florida’s Democrats and Republicans are both vying to secure the Venezuelan diaspora vote, the latter by alluding to the Trump administration’s anti-immigrant and anti-refugee policies, and the former by encouraging both sanctions and military intervention in the country.
But the responses to Rubio’s tweets condemning Salt Bae have been mixed. While some praised Rubio for using his platform to call attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, others criticized him for encouraging his 3.6 million Twitter followers to harass a restaurant in his state. “A leader turning the mob on a political enemy? That’s what dictators do,” wrote one Twitter user.
Maduro’s critics have treated Gökçe’s decision to host the Venezuelan president — and to publicize the dinner on social media, in essence treating Maduro like any other celebrity who has paid a visit to Nusr-Et — as a tacit endorsement of his policies.
But Maduro is by no means the first politician whose night out has been overshadowed by politics.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was asked to leave a Virginia restaurant last summer. Its owner, Stephanie Wilkinson, told the Washington Post that kicking out Sanders was a way of standing up to the Trump administration.
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller both had to leave Mexican restaurants after being heckled by protesters in two separate incidents. Miller once threw away $80 of sushi after being heckled in a different incident. (It’s worth noting that Rubio criticized this sort of behavior when it was levied against Trump’s staffers.)
If the backlash against Gökçe shows anything, it’s that everyday interactions — going out to eat, getting on a plane — are being viewed with an increasingly political lens. And for business owners, the decision to serve controversial figures like Maduro is about more than just business.

Image caption Geri Horner: “”
It’s 20 years since Geri Horner (then Halliwell) strode onto the Brits stage in her Union Jack dress in one of the defining images of the 1990s.
To mark the anniversary, the singer is hosting a BBC Two documentary on the decade, looking at her own journey from Turkish game show host to globe-straddling, Nelson Mandela-cuddling pop phenomenon.
It’s called Geri’s 1990s: My Drive to Freedom – referring to the 1967 open-topped sports car she bought with her first “fat pay cheque” from Virgin Records.
Ahead of the broadcast this Saturday, the star sat down with BBC News to reflect on the decade that changed her life.
Along the way, she reveals the creative tensions that split up the Spice Girls, her first meeting with George Michael and her time as a Turkish TV show hostess.
Media captionGeri Horner recalls her first Spice Girls pay cheque
What struck you most about the 1990s while making the documentary?
it was a really good reminder of how much influence that decade had on my life. It was brilliant in every way – musically, culturally, politically. There was so much colour and creativity. Britain felt like the centre of the universe at that moment.
You turned 18 in 1990, and almost immediately had surgery to remove a lump in your breast…
Yes, I had a little scare. [The lump turned out not to be cancerous]
That’s not something most teenagers have to confront. How did it change your life? Did it make you more ambitious?
I think it was something else that put the petrol in my tank. I was always ambitious, but my dad died when I was quite young. He’d always been very encouraging of my career, and when he died not only did I experience the loss of a parent, but also my own mortality. You suddenly think: “Oh God, life’s here and you’ve just got to go for it”. That, for me, was a defining moment.

Image caption The Spice Girls stole the show at the 1997 Brit Awards
For the next couple of years, you tried your hand at modelling and TV presenting. Were you just looking for the best way to get a break?
Two things happened: I went back to college to study English Literature – but to subsidise that, I had to take lots of little jobs.
One of them, I was a game show hostess in Turkey. The show was a bit like The Price is Right, and I would go to Turkey and do that. I had all these random jobs, but what they ultimately were for, was to fund me going into the studio.
I remember the guy said it would cost 300 to get my demo tape together. I’d written one song myself and the other was a cover of the song A Lover’s Holiday.
What was your song called?
It was called Live to Love. It was pretty crap.
You auditioned for the Spice Girls after answering a newspaper advert. How many times had you been through that process?
Oh, I’d tried loads and loads of different things. All sorts of random stuff. And there were some dodgy things, believe me.
The band got huge very quickly. It’s amazing to think that the period between Wannabe and you leaving wasn’t even two years. What’s your memory of that period?
When you’re in the middle of it, you just sort of get on with it. I liked being part of a group. The camaraderie. It was a lot of fun.
It got quite hysterical – the paparazzi, the screaming fans, the constant tabloid stories. Was fame what you had dreamt it would be?
What you think about something and what it turns out to be is never going to be quite the same. Some bits are better, some bits are not. But it was a very happy, fun, full-on experience.
Media captionGeri says Girl Power was ‘more palatable’ than feminism
In the documentary, you talk about Girl Power being a less threatening way to discuss feminism.
Twenty years ago, if you said the word feminism, you thought of those bra-burning, marching protestors. It was quite tough and harsh.
For me, Girl Power was a much more punchy way of saying it. But actually, Girl Power embodies much more than a gender. It’s about everybody. Everybody deserves the same treatment, whatever race you are, gender you are, age you are. Everybody deserves a voice.
It was just saying that in a very digestible way.
There was a clip that went viral last year, where the band had a blazing row with a director who wanted you to show more cleavage.
Oh, I saw that, when I told the bloke to zip it!
Do you know what? I didn’t actually take that very personally. Sometimes people just need reminding that we have to be respectful. He’s just being a bit silly. He needs reminding what’s what.
I was interested to hear you talk about songwriting earlier, because it’s rarely discussed that that Spice Girls have writing credits on all of their singles. Do you think that’s been overlooked?
I feel incredibly proud to have been part of the writing. I’ve always loved lyric-writing, and melodies – so if it gets recognised, fantastic.
What’s the song you’re proudest of?
I’m proud of my solo album – the first one I did – because it was so honest.
If you listen to Lift Me Up, I was really inspired by the Carpenters. On the bridge, where I sing “it’s going to be alright”, I was trying to the way Karen’s voice would go really low and then soar up again.
But then I also love Wannabe. It’s a very confident song.

Image caption The Spice Girls hits included Stop, Wannabe, Say You’ll Be There and Spice Up Your Life
You had to fight for Wannabe to be your first single, didn’t you?
Really fight for it.
Why was that?
Nobody wanted it. The record company didn’t want it. Management didn’t want it. And I can understand the hesitation. It was not the coolest.
But the best song to me is when you instinctively like it – not because it’s cool, not because it’s what the latest fad is. You just connect to it.
The advantage of Wannabe being uncool was that, when Say You’ll Be There came out people suddenly sat up and said, “wait a minute, there’s more to this band than we assumed”.
And we always knew it could only ever be that way round. I had faith in it and Emma had faith in it.
Looking back, would you stand by your decision to quit the band?
Erm Would I have left? It depends.
They wanted to make an R&B album. Am I a big R&B fan? Not really. I’m a pop writer. I felt comfortable in that genre and it felt completely alien to me to sing in that R&B style. My departure almost set them free a bit, and allowed them to make that album [Forever, recorded with Rodney Jerkins].
So I don’t regret it. Part of life is change.

Image caption The singer struck up a friendship with her idol, George Michael
You became friends with George Michael around that time. What are you memories of him?
I always had sort of a crush on him, so when I met him I just thought, “wow!”.
Most of all, I admired him as an artist, for his music but also, I just think he was a really kind, good person.
I filmed the documentary before he died – but I talk about him, and now that [section] has become really sad and poignant. He was just such a generous, kind, loving being.
Your new son is called Montague George Hector Horner. Is that partly in his honour?
Yeah, it was my mother’s idea. Because she was very fond of George and he really loved my mum. He went to her wedding!
I had a month [of pregnancy] to go after George died and when Monty was born, mum said, “why don’t you give him George’s name?”. And I thought, “oh that’s really sweet.”
After you left The Spice Girls, you worked for several years as a UN spokesperson. I get the feeling that changed you as a person.
I tell you what – it puts it all in perspective. You realise how lucky we are to live in a country like this. We have an NHS – I know we complain about it, but we have one. We have a support system for the unemployed. There is a structure here that supports. And there is a freedom that some countries do not have.

Image caption The star lobbied to play a Bond girl in the late 1990s
Another thing you did after the Spice Girls was you attended drama school.
Yeah! You’ve really done your research!
And then you auditioned for Bond?
Actually, they just called me in for a chat. They didn’t give me the part. I don’t think I was up their street.
But you did end up with a cameo in Sex and the City.
Oh my God, that was amazing. That was amazing! I had to properly audition for it. They were very strict, because it was all about comedy timing and very tightly scripted. But I think I got more kudos from doing that than anything else. My girlfriends were so excited I was in that.

You’re working on a solo album right now. How is that going?
I wrote the majority of the album when I was pregnant and it’s really coming together now.
Having children has inspired some great records – Madonna’s Ray of Light, Neneh Cherry’s Raw Like Sushi
Do you know what? I felt this surge of creativity when I was pregnant. And you’re much more emotional – my feelings were really on tap.
But this album – it’s just so different. I feel like I’ve jumped over to the other side. When you’re a certain genre, like the pop genre, it’s like being 12 and to get to the other side, to grow up and be comfortable, has taken me a while. But I feel like I’ve finally done it.
When do we get to hear it?
I’m really, really hopeful that it’s this side of the summer. That would be really nice. I’d be really happy to share it.

Geri Horner: Why my son is named after George Michael – BBC News

Another thing you did after the Spice Girls was you attended drama school.
Yeah! You’ve really done your research!
