About Balgo

We're told that Dragonclad attract Dragons, but Balgo seems to attract more trouble than anticipated.

He had two dragons living with him for extended periods, one for ten years.

Then he passed by Macy on the sidewalk and decided to give her his umbrella because it was raining and she didn't have one, and that's enough to awaken her ability to see dragons.

Very soon after that Macy finds Cinderella, and Wolfgang theorizes that it was Balgo's and the newly awakened Macy's presence that drew Cinderella to London.

Balgo's middle name, "Ywain", was the name of two different knights in Arthurian stories. One rescued a lion which becomes his companion pet, killed a dragon, and also disenchants a princess cursed to be a dragon. The other Ywain is accidently killed by his cousin Gawain in a joust, but they don't recognize each other until after because they're both in full armor.

Balgo managed to accidently summon or create a sword from his borrowed Witch Pipe, which surprised both Noel and Ninny. Neither of them had heard of this before or had any idea how it could be possible.

The appearance of the sword seems to calm Cinderella, who stops attacking them. Noel notices and points it out before Billy kills her. The anime even has her eye color change from red back to blue (having changed from blue to red when Hungry Shadow attacked her face).

I'm not sure where to go with all this except that I think there will be some revelation about Balgo, probably in his family tree, in the future. Considering the Märchens are likened to and named after fairy tales and the first Ywain's connection to two different dragons and having an unusual pet I don't think it's a stretch to think Kubo could be drawing from Arthurian stories for BtW too.

I... I know Kubo has a track record of absolutely sucking dick at designing and drawing women, but this is just so bad...I know he’s done this before, but like... You’d think he’d be able to draw more than two types of women after having done bleach for so long... Like. I am convinced he has never actually seen a woman ever in his life. Like when he designs women there’s a dial in his head one side is no tits and the other side is balloon tits and there is no in between.

Another MSPAINT man... He’s white Shunsui which is terrible, but I will give this character some credit here bc like the design is somewhat unique. His name sucks dick but it’s better than some of the other bullshit Kubo puts forward which is important for later.

Balgo the Knight

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this, but Balgo’s middle name is “Ywain” - which was also the name of a knight in Arthuriana. I thought it was interesting considering he managed to form/summon a sword from his borrowed Pipe.

Some Arthurian Ywain info:
