This professional grafting tool is designed to cut both the scion (the grafted shoot or bud) and the rootstock, the main plant onto which the graft will be made (usually chosen for its strong roots). Proper alignment of the two parts is critical to the graft's success because it allows a structural union to form that does not obstruct the essential transfer of nutrients as the graft heals. Becoming sustainable is a journey that takes a long time. You can not and will not change your lifestyle to fully sustainable in a month. Changing your entire lifestyle in a way that directly clashes with how society is currently functioning (consumerism/capitalism) is not as easy as the tiktokers doing partnerships with bamboo toothbrushes make you believe.
Start small. Repurpose things you already have, even if they aren’t recyclable. Scrape the last of your moisturizer into a tub if it won’t come out the bottle any more. Use the cut open bottle as a pin holder. Use old dvd cases as letter storage, for arts and crafts, to protect your post. Donate things you can’t reuse to your local charity shops or shelters.
You’re also inherently going to have to learn new skills. Learning to stitch clothing to repair clothes, and learning how to sew to re-use clothes that can’t be salvaged. Learning some basic carpentry and upholstery skills for furniture, learning how to compost properly, learning to cook in unusual ways like canning and bulk cooking, gardening and farming. You’ll need to learn how to navigate shopping sustainably by researching the brands you consume, the shops you buy at, the local economy.
There's also the emotional toll of it. Learning new skills and leading a sustainable lifestyle will be very rewarding and fulfilling, but the journey there will be difficult. Researching it all will likely depress you, you’ll come across how shit nestle is, how deep-rooted consumerism is, how it impacts the ocean and humanity. You’ll find there's almost nothing, no brand, no item, no store that hasn’t been touched by consumerism and problematic practices, and it will get absolutely exhausting. You’ll find YouTubers and bloggers who have been doing this longer than you and finally help you navigate everything, and then they’re a terf. It’s going to be a challenging journey.
You will also realize becoming fully 100% sustainable is impossible to you and gated to rich people. You will need to accept this. Not everyone has access to local shops that provide sustainable items, and online shipping itself is usually not eco-friendly. Having a pet might be a roadblock, unless you can build your own house it's probably not built sustainably, if you live with family or roommates they might dampen your lifestyle. You’ll learn that being sustainable isn’t going the whole solution to saving the planet. You cannot strive for perfection here, you can only make an effort.
But making the effort is the point. Living sustainably makes you part of a positive cycle that supports local businesses, promotes a healthier and more fulfilling life, helps your local ecosystem and community. That makes the effort worth it.

Westward Journey Online II (2002) 大话西游2经典版
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Date: August 15, 2001 / August 07, 2015 Uncoded test Platform: PC Developer: NetEase Publisher: NetEase Genre: Turn-Based Theme: Fantasy Franchises: Westward Journey Online Aliases: New Westward Journey 2 / Westward Journey 2 Classic Edition / Westward Journey Online / Westward Journey Online III Type: Reimanging
Summary:
Since Pangu opened up the world, the heavens are divided into three realms, and the earth is divided into four continents. All ethnic groups coexist in Dongsheng Shenzhou, Xiniu Hezhou, Nanzhanbuzhou, and Beijuluzhou, thus determining the pattern of heaven and earth. All species originally coexisted peacefully: The immortal clan ruled and dominated everything from above, the human race admired the brilliance of the gods and reproduced endlessly, the demon clan was always sealed in the darkness and lived stubbornly but arrogantly, the ghost clan continued the cycle of yin and yang, and lived freely in the underworld... all things in the cycle of reincarnated endlessly, and tens of thousands of years of time flow like water.
However, an accident 13,000 years ago caused the Demon Race to invade the Immortal Race, disrupting the order of the entire world, and the Ghost Race gradually became stronger. According to the historical records of the Heavenly Court: On the day when the demons slaughtered the immortals, the sky and the earth changed color, the sun and the moon were dimmed, the terrain of the invasion was like a broken bamboo, and the guards of the Heavenly Court were like fallen leaves in a strong wind... It can be seen that the degree of tragedy is extraordinary. After this battle, the dominance of the fairy clan was also shaken, and the sealed demon clan began to wait for an opportunity to come out. Wrathful ghosts and wild ghosts were everywhere in the land of Shenzhou, monsters are reborn, and it is even more difficult for mortals to resist the demons in their hearts as hate and killing fill the world. In the human world and the underworld, ghosts gathered for a while, and the ghost clan gradually awakened in the chaos of war and came to the Three Realms.
In a blink of an eye, it was the Tang Dynasty. It is said that one day, the Tathagata Buddha summoned all the Buddhas, Arrows, Jiedi, Bodhisattvas, arhats, monks, and nuns in the Daleiyin Temple of Lingshan to give lectures on the Dharma. He talked about the great numbers of the world and the good and evil of all living beings. Immediately, his compassion arose, so he summoned Guanshiyin Bodhisattva from the South China Sea, saying that there is a Tripitaka of Mahayana Buddhism, which can transcend the souls of the dead, free them from suffering, and make life and body invincible. However, those who have a predestined relationship with Buddha need to pray sincerely and overcome ninety-nine and eighty-one difficulties. Only by getting rid of the shackles of the physical body can he retrieve it; then he uses this scripture to pass on to the Eastern Tang Dynasty, and it can relieve the calamity between heaven and earth. So Guanyin enlightened the Buddhist monks to go west to learn Buddhist scriptures. Helplessly, the world has been determined, and the path to learn from the scriptures is doomed to be full of hardships.
At this time when the world is full of numbers, when immortals, humans, demons, and ghosts coexist in the world, you were born in a fishing village on the shore of the East China Sea that gathers the essence of heaven and earth, the aura of mountains and rivers, and talented people come forth in large numbers. People in the village say those who are born here are the people of destiny who shoulder the important task of resolving the great numbers in the world. So, you are on your way.

The Midlands Trashion Show 2024, held during Plastic Free July, served as a reminder of the pervasive issue of single-use plastic pollution. This year, 130 students demonstrated their creativity and commitment to sustainability by re-purposing discarded plastic into remarkable fashion statements.
Charlene Chinembiri, inspired by videos posted online, created an ensemble from a feed bag and wool, assisted by her fashion-enthusiast sister.
Thandoluhle Khumalo, from Lions River, turned mealie meal bags from her school feeding programme into a dress with her mother's help, showcasing the potential of everyday waste.
Standout creations included Naledi Duma's party dress, Hannah Zunckel's intricate bodice made of metal ring pulls with a CD skirt, and Alwonde Mpangase's pleated frock.
Laila Gangerdine captured the title of Trashion Queen with a detailed dress and headdress made from card and plastic, while Emihle Sithole's layered newspaper skirt earned her the Pompom Princess title.
Dineo Hlatswayo's checkerboard dress, which required her to rise at 4am to travel from the Drakensberg, was awarded a prize for its elegance.
Boys also made a significant impact at the event, with Thokozani Makhaye in his pink rapper outfit and Zekhethelo Dlamini's astronaut costume drawing attention. The wire car category saw Kiara Hansraj win for her neatly finished, spray-painted vehicle, Zanokuhle Sithole for the best suspension, and Lukhona Sishi for the best overall design.
Prizes for winners in various categories were practical items promoting environmental care, such as bamboo toothbrushes, wooden combs, and washable menstrual products. These eco-friendly alternatives highlight the need for sustainable choices to reduce plastic waste.

Bamboo is an incredibly versatile material that can be used for a variety of different applications. From furniture to flooring, bamboo has been utilized in home décor and design for years. But did you know there are many other unusual and exciting ways to use bamboo products around the house? In this blog post, we’ll look at some creative uses for bamboo products around the home that will add both style and functionality!
Unique Bamboo Home Décor Ideas
Adding unique pieces of decor made from natural materials like bamboo adds texture and warmth to any room in your home. Here are some unique ideas on how you can incorporate elegant pieces of woven or carved bamboo products into your interior décor:
1) Hang Woven Wall Art – If you want something more modern than traditional wall art, try hanging up a piece of intricately woven bamboo instead. Not only does it provide visual interest but also serves as an acoustic insulator by absorbing sound waves while adding character to the space!
2) Create Custom Window Coverings – Instead of using regular curtains or shades, why not create custom window coverings out of thin strips cut from sheets or rolls of raw-cut peeled green/yellow split cane? You could weave these bamboo products together with twine creating intricate patterns which would make great conversation starters when guests come over!
3) Make Your Own Lighting Fixture – For those who love DIY projects here’s one idea: craft your own pendant light fixture out of sections cut off from long sticks (or poles). Connect these sections together using metal rings then drape fabric strings across each section until the desired shape is achieved before attaching electrical wiring components so they become functional lights too!
4) Add Unique Furniture Pieces – Whether it’s a chair, stool, or table crafted entirely out of bamboo products arranged tightly within frames; explore all possibilities when incorporating sustainable yet stylish options such as those made with rattan reeds wrapped onto bentwood frames—these items will definitely give any living space an eclectic touch without compromising comfortability nor durability!
5) Incorporate Natural Floor Mats – Instead of opting for synthetic rugs/carpets opt to go au naturel by investing in hand-woven mats created solely through weaving dried grasses & leaves–this provides the perfect opportunity to liven up floors while contributing towards maintaining an eco-friendly environment inside homes since no harmful chemicals were used during production processes either. Plus bonus points if the matting of bamboo products chosen contains anti-slip properties to help prevent slip-fall accidents from happening indoors too!
6 ) Line Walls With Bamboo Panels – Another way to increase aesthetic appeal walls simultaneously reduce noise levels areas covered by lining panels constructed of various sizes widths lengths types depending upon preferences tastes goals intended to achieve decoration-wise whilst still providing practicality benefits associated with usage paneling techniques mentioned above.

How to Practice Sustainable Living on a Budget
Living sustainably doesn’t have to break the bank. In fact, many eco-friendly practices can save you money in the long run! Here are some practical tips for practicing sustainable living while sticking to a budget:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce: Buy only what you need to minimize waste. Avoid single-use items and opt for products with minimal packaging.
Reuse: Repurpose old containers, jars, and bags. Get creative with DIY projects to give new life to items you already own.
Recycle: Follow your local recycling guidelines. Make sure to clean and sort recyclables to reduce contamination.
Shop Second-Hand
Thrift Stores: Shop for clothing, furniture, and household items at thrift stores, garage sales, or online marketplaces. Not only do you save money, but you also give pre-loved items a new home.
Clothing Swaps: Organize clothing swaps with friends or community members to refresh your wardrobe without spending a dime.
Cook at Home
Buy in Bulk: Purchase staple foods like rice, beans, and pasta in bulk to reduce packaging waste and save money.
Meal Prep: Plan your meals to avoid food waste. Use leftovers creatively, like turning roasted veggies into soups or stir-fries.
Use Energy Efficiently
LED Bulbs: Replace incandescent bulbs with LED ones to save on electricity bills.
Unplug Devices: Turn off and unplug electronics when not in use to reduce energy consumption.
Use Natural Light: Maximize natural light during the day to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
Grow Your Own Food
Start a Garden: Even a small herb or vegetable garden can reduce your grocery bill and your carbon footprint.
Container Gardening: If you don’t have outdoor space, grow herbs and small vegetables in containers on a windowsill or balcony.
Make Your Own Cleaning Products
DIY Cleaners: Use simple ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and lemon to make effective and eco-friendly cleaning solutions.
Reusable Cloths: Replace paper towels with washable cloths to reduce waste and save money.
Conserve Water
Fix Leaks: A dripping faucet can waste a significant amount of water over time. Fix leaks promptly to conserve water and lower your water bill.
Shorter Showers: Cut down on shower time to save water. Consider using a water-saving showerhead.
Opt for Public Transport or Carpooling
Public Transport: Use public transportation to reduce fuel costs and decrease your carbon footprint.
Carpool: Share rides with friends or coworkers to save money on gas and reduce emissions.
Use Reusable Items
Reusable Bags: Bring your own bags when shopping to reduce plastic waste.
Reusable Bottles and Containers: Invest in a reusable water bottle and food containers to minimize single-use plastics.
DIY Personal Care Products
Natural Ingredients: Make your own personal care products like shampoo, conditioner, and deodorant using natural ingredients.
Zero-Waste: Look for zero-waste options, such as bar soap, shampoo bars, and bamboo toothbrushes, which are often more economical in the long run.
Practicing sustainable living doesn’t have to be expensive. By making small, mindful changes in your daily habits, you can contribute to a healthier planet and save money at the same time. Remember, every little step counts, and collectively, these efforts can make a big impact! Start with one or two changes, and gradually incorporate more sustainable practices into your lifestyle. You’ll not only be helping the environment but also creating a more cost-effective and conscious way of living.

The Fast Fashion Industry and Its Environmental Costs
Tumblr media
With the ever-changing fashion trends circulating on social media and the affordable prices in stores, the fast fashion industry has continued to grow over the past decade with quick online deliveries, rapid clothing production, and overconsumption of clothing items. Many companies within the fashion industry have opted to have their manufacturers overseas for cheap labor to avoid the high minimum wages enforced by developed nations. Although more affordable garments are now accessible to low-income people, it also comes with the cost of ecological destruction and humane indecency.
Forced Labor for profits
Many companies such as Shein, Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Zara use sweatshops, workplaces with socially unacceptable conditions that pay low wages to produce low-cost clothing items. Although these companies can maintain a low price tag on their products, they become part of the unsustainable practices of fast fashion because of underpaid labor, poor working conditions, and a longing contribution to plastic production. By consistently shopping from these brands, many support the unsustainable practices that are the backbone of these companies. Instead, choosing to shop at thrift stores, only buying clothes when necessary, reusing old clothing items, thinking before purchasing, and creating a capsule wardrobe, a set of clothes that can be worn interchangeably, can reduce the need to support the production of these companies.
Materials used
When companies want to profit while manufacturing clothing, they tend to choose low-cost artificial synthetic fibers such as polyester, rubber, and nylon, which take more energy to produce than natural fibers such as wool, cotton, and bamboo. Natural fibers have a lower environmental impact throughout manufacturing because they do not require as many chemicals as synthetic fibers. When choosing what clothing garments to buy, purchasing the ones manufactured with natural fibers is more beneficial to our environment because they can break down quickly in nature.
Polluted waters and excessive water use
The fashion industry is one of the most water-intensive industries because it uses water to spin, dye, and finish the textile. Its use of dye has contributed to the wastewater dumped into our streams, rivers, and oceans, which can spread toxic chemicals to marine ecosystems.
Plastic microfibers
Not only is the pollution of waters happening before the sale of items, but after customers buy clothes, the presence of microfibers that detach when it is in the washer goes into wastewater that will eventually reach our oceans, further polluting them. With filtration as the only laborious and expensive way to remove microplastics, it becomes unsustainable and remains in the ocean. It ends up in the human food chain through agricultural communities and sea life, ultimately causing adverse health effects.
Textile waste
As fashion trends constantly change with the modern age of technology and fast fashion's affordability, many garments are discarded and donated not long after purchase. Although donating might seem like a better, more sustainable way to recycle clothing, it might end up in landfills regardless if not sold. According to the Ellen Macarthur Foundation, "it is estimated that people are buying 60 percent more clothes and wearing them for half as long." This practice has only increased over time, allowing truckloads of textiles to be dumped into landfills or incinerated every second. To better maintain our clothes, one should be more conscious about purchases by deciding if a clothing piece has the potential to be worn multiple years after its purchase, lessening the need to throw away or donate so often.
Tumblr media
Carbon emissions
With the production and incineration of clothing items, carbon emissions are released into the air, causing public health dangers to communities around factories. The World Bank says, "The fashion industry is responsible for 10 % of annual global carbon emissions, more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined." With new technologies that try to capture the pollutants, "they remain present and often are turned into a dangerous substance," which will pollute our air regardless.
Solutions
With the overwhelming amount of affordable clothing items that are ecologically damaging, being more conscious is always a way to reduce the effects of consumerism. It is ultimately up to us, consumers, to beware of the adverse impacts of supporting unsustainable brands and find eco-friendly companies that put the planet first. Some sustainable brands to shop from are:
Patagonia
Raven + Lily
The Classic T-Shirt Company
Cou Cou Intimates
My Mum Made It
Avani
Good Guys
Shopsoftlana
L'Envers
Pela
