I read a fanfic the other day and it had me thinking.

I whole heartedly believe that whenever Suki is trying to justify some kind of gratuitous violence she looks at aang and says something like

“Kyoshi would agree”

Or, “Right, Kyoshi?”

Because she knows full well he has connections to his past life and knows even better that Kyoshi would 100% approve of said gratuitous violence. And she definitely found ways to show Suki her approval.

Plus we know Suki and Kyoshi are buddies bc of the comic, “Suki, Alone”

Avatar Roku

Everyone thinks Avatar Kyoshi is the most badass but honestly I think it’s Roku that takes the top. He’s That Dramatic Bitch (tm) all the while trying to be the best avatar he can be.

Like he’s all “mysterious” when he’s like aang I need to talk to you but you’ll find a way. No help really and sends his dragon, something badass in its own right, to just pick up aang. After all you have to make a killer entrance.

And speaking of killer entrances, when he is in Rokus tower with aang and offers to help him escape. Roku is like “i will absolutely not allow this firesages to destroy my temple and my current life; I’ll break the thing myself” and he has the class—the drama—to show his glowing eyes before bending the fire out to smoke for his entrance. Like he melts chains off of the Sokka, Katara, and Zuko (who is like damn he isn’t playing time to make like my honor and get lost).

Roku is the type of person to not only put you in your place, but put on a show while doing it. He stands for what he believes in. He would rather not have violence, but doesn’t want the world to suffer. He’s a man on a mission and he’s going to look good doing it. (I also personally love when aang is in the spirit world to contact the moon and ocean spirits and he appears in Aangs reflection in the water. Like since they’re the same soul and thus the reflection would be of himself. It was clever and I loved it).

(He’s my favorite avatar I’m sorry there’s other things I love but just yes.)

AU where the spirits of the previous avatars are more invovled with the world, where they decide to push the world to finding Aang. They become guides to those they can feel will mean much to Aang

Avatar Roku guides Zuko, taking control of his body only once so that he fights when his father attack - that he shouts his resolve against Ozais war plan. He still loses, is still branded and banished for his fighting. But his plight quickly spreads amoung the people. The nobles may despise Zuko, but he is the peoples prince. That is more important, Roku claims even as Zuko refuses to listen.

Avatar Kyoshi is Toph's guide. Its her that calls the badger moles to this blind girl with a will of steel, its her that teaches Toph every swear word possible and encourages her to get up and try harder. It's her that pushes Toph to follow Aang, to take that last step and finally run away forever.

(After Suki joins, occasionally Kyoshi leaves Tophs shoulder. Toph is a capable young girl whose meet the Avatar, Kyoshis job is technically done unlike someone, Roku. Its only fair that she checks on her people)

As for Katara and Sokka I'm not sure yet.

Does Katara have no one, because the Avatars know she will be a hurdle on Aang's path to the Avatar State even if shes the one to free him. Does she have a quiet guide, one who refuses to be attached and refuses she teach her anything. Does her guide led her to Aang and then try to guide her away.

As for Sokka, well Sokka isnt like the others. I'm thinking either his guide is Gyatso, whose mostly there for fun.

Or Sokka is literally a god in human form, having given up hia memories and powers in hopes of righting the world. Is he La? Is he the first Avatar, whose servered his ties to the elements to exist seperately from the Avatar. You decide.

Suki:

The og. One of the baddest bitches to ever live. She could punch me in the face and I’d probably thank her. Look at her. She has and will continue to singlehandedly beat the sexism out of the atla universe (looking at you Pakku, if you didn’t get the message from Katara, Suki will come for your bitchass). Not that Suki isn’t a BAMF out of the uniform too, it’s just that the Kyoshi getup adds a lil extra flavour ya know

Sokka:

Can we all agree this is Sokka’s best look? I know we all love this “respect women juice” moment because it is undoubtedly fantastic, but also...his lil smirk. He’s looking good and he knows it. He’s feeling himself and tbh he should be. Probably looking in the mirror like “damn this makes my eyes pop”, and truly, king, it does

Aang:

Ngl, out of the avatar state this is the most intimidating Aang has ever looked. Still not that intimidating cause he is baby but nonetheless, that red lip do be poppin’. A very good look for him, frightening yet so darn adorable

Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee:

Okayyyy not to be gay or whatever but...everything about this...yes. Let’s just talk about how it was when these gals were pretending to be Kyoshi Warriors that they proved they were, in fact, those bitches™. Can they fight? Oh you know it. Can they successfully take over the last stronghold against the fire nation through nothing more than subtle infiltration and manipulation? Duh. Are they gonna look bomb af doing it? Absolutely. Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I would sell my soul for Kyoshi Warrior Mai

Conclusion: I don’t really know what point I was trying to make but this makeup serves on anyone’s face and bonus it’s water resistant

ATLA Ships

Because there’s an endless deluge of ship hate going on, I wanted to break up the BS with some lighthearted fun. You know, what fandom is SUPPOSED to be.

So here is my honest, positive take on most ATLA ships:

Aang

x Katara: High school sweethearts, they are each other’s biggest cheerleader, have not called each other by their actual first name since week 2 of dating and now they’ve been married for five years, still thinks they can give dating advice to their friends.

x Sokka: Idiots in love, half of the people they know think they’re just super close, the other half think they’re dating but won’t ask in case they’re somehow wrong, got married for the tax benefits and never got divorced, both still routinely commit tax fraud

x Toph: Sometimes their teasing of each other gets so intense it’s like foreplay, Aang is still shocked someone calls him out because he is obviously a pure cinnamon roll who never does anything wrong????, Toph is still confused that Aang can compliment her and he’s not lying?????, basically summed up by no one can call my bae an idiot except ME

x Suki: late game relationship, neither were looking for a relationship but they ended up working long hours together on a mission kinda thing, Suki keeps him grounded and brings the common sense of a BAMF non-Bender woman, while Aang gets to be the introduction into all the cool crap he knows about the world, tons of fluff, very calm pair

x Zuko: Started with a “hey you know it’d be funny if the Avatar and the Fire Lord kissed” joke, Zuko immediately overthinks and Aang is clueless, miscommunication ABOUNDS, when they ultimately get together Zuko gets the confidence boost of being with the Avatar, no one can say anything because suddenly the Avatar is there wondering why his boyfriend is pissed off.

x Azula: Everyone worries about toxic co-dependency at first because Aang was the healer in the relationship, he just ends up learning the most about her and falls in love with her, he becomes the first person she trusts, Azula actually pushes him away because she doesn’t want to use him, they end up together after Azula goes on an apology tour, Aang waits for her patiently, full of YEARNING

x Ty Lee: this ship embodies the energy of that meme where the girl is smiling with the burning house in the background, no one knows exactly what’s going on but something ends up on fire, they are not allowed entry into fifteen Earth Kingdom cities, Ty Lee proposes and they are engaged for a good amount of time, but end up eloping at the Earth Kingdom equivalent of Las Vegas, they throw the best parties, the couple who never have children but are the wealthy cool aunt and uncle that stir up the holidays

x Mai: EVERYONE HAS QUESTIONS, started off with a bet that Aang couldn’t make her laugh, they ended up in bed together, definitely a secret relationship, full of “we shouldn’t be doing this” kinda messages, both think it’s just the one time, end up together because they bond over the weirdest esoteric novel series, neither of their personalities change over the years, the type of couple that can go to separate events because they trust each other

x Jet: bonded over the mutual ex girlfriend, Aang gets sick of the fame when he’s older and runs around Kyoshi style with Jet’s crowd, bad choices and bad boys make their pulse race, probably not gonna end up together and it’s about how much gets damaged before they break up.

x Yue: Aang was instantly intimidated, she is just so pretty??? and proper???, despite being the Avatar Aang doesn’t think he’s good enough, Yue really likes how funny he is, they bond over spirit stuff, something like her royal duty or whatever makes him think he doesn’t have a chance, he finds out she gets engaged because she thinks he doesn’t like her, they’d have like a Jane Austen kinda story imo

I’ll have to write the others later. I won’t be tagging the ships because I don’t wanna clog up the content.
