More Fantasy Life OCs!

I already introduced ya'll to my "main" Fantasy Life characters but I absolutely have others knocking around!

Ginger, Autumn, and Sella are a trio of protagonists who I generally picture actually doing the events of the plot and being the MCs. These three are a trio of side characters who DON'T engage in the main story---they're like NPCs for their Lives.

Opal is the world's most exhausted mercenary. They really really should be retired, but this is kind of the only way they know how to put food on the table, and they're too stubborn to find something else. I picture their character arc being about learning it's okay to ask for help, try new things, and to quit doing something if it's not for you!

Shermie is an extremely nervous fisher who's too afraid to actually do much fishing. They get jumpscared by their own shadow, so they're a lot more likely to scream and drop the rod into the water when a fish starts fighting them. Their character arc is obviously about growing their confidence and becoming a fisher in practice instead of in theory. The player leads by example and inspires them to try, showing them that it really is all going to be okay.

Shermie is also EXTREMELY nearsighted, and very much needs glasses, but they have no idea and thinks the world is just that blurry to everybody. It's played for laughs most of the time, but Shermie will get a pair of glasses once you get to a high enough rank and will be briefly injected with the confidence of an unstoppable god now that they can see.

Zane is what you would have been if you'd started as a Carpenter in Al Majik. They began their journey the same time as you and grew in the ranks just as quickly, but the two of you don't cross paths until well into the story. They become your friendly rival and greatly enjoys swapping techniques with you. Similar to the protagonist, they don't really have a character arc beyond getting better at their job and making friends.

As far as design goes, I did a mix of the novice gear for each of their Lives with what their real-life variants would be wearing.

While Fantasy Life Mercenaries only armor their outer limbs and head (down to the female outfit having a bare arms and midriff), that's not how it works in real life. Not only are your arms and legs non-vital organs that need less protection, but only putting weight on your limbs changes your center of gravity and makes it difficult to move well. If you can only afford one piece of armor, most people are going to go with a breastplate or a helmet because those protect the vital areas. At the very least have them wear a vest or something! Opal has more experience under their belt, so probably better gear than start, so I protected their vital organs, and then armored their outer limbs because that is a good spot to do next, especially if you're not going full plate.

Shermie probably ended out closest to real life just because I didn't want to put them in anything resembling a skirt/dress, so that meant the novice fisher robes were out. I kept the smock, but the rest of their outfit is literally just what you could find the average fisher in irl: wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun out of their eyes, lightweight but long sleeved shirt, cargo shorts that provide pockets while also keeping your legs open against the heat and stay dry even when wading, and waterproof boots.

For Zane, the pants and the headband are literally just the novice outfit. I added an apron as it is pretty regular carpenter attire both in-game and irl, but Zane is a sleeve-hater, so they're wearing a tank top underneath. The gloves are green mostly because I was just having fun adding pretty colors. They're realistically just green fabric, but they ended out looking kinda like rubber sanitation gloves, which a Carpenter doesn't have a lot of logical reason to be wearing, but it looks fun so I don't care.

I also greatly enjoyed leaning into the very fun and bright colors of the game for this trio, including/especially their anime hair and eyes.

I haven't posted original content in a while and I'm at work alone (so no drawings til maybe tomorrow?)

So have some photos of my fuck ass weird cats

The white and brown tabby tub of lard is named Nelson. He weighed in at 22lbs when I adopted him (his previous owner was a little old lady). He's stinky but loving. Sheds like a mother fucker though. Knows he doesn't get food in the morning until he is sitting proper TWO FEET away from the food dish. Enjoys sitting on my shower bench (pictured above) immediately after I've showered. Doesn't like baths.

His long haired and orange sister is Honeycomb. She amazes me daily with her capacity to catch the collective braincell for all of ten seconds and lose it again. She knows she's not supposed to eat my cacti, and prevents her brother from crunching. And then proceeds to bite the cactus, get mad that it hurts her mouth, and pulls it out of the pot to fling onto the floor. And then gets mad that it's on the floor.

There's one collective braincell in my apartment and it usually floats up 2 floors to the neighbor's dog.

for all lunistice fans who own flipper zeros (all 5 of us!), i will have a full manifest change themed after Hana! it's still quite a ways from being releasable, but it will include changes to all of the icons and, yes, a whole set of new animations!
