On a related note an ex-collegue and friend of mine had to bar an older gent from our pub for offering her a live crab. I think I've told this one before but she was working a quiet morning shift, and this guy comes in, orders a pint of bitter and when she pops it on the bar, says "hold your hand out."

This isn't unusual, older customers like to give you lots of lose change and let you count it out, so she oblidges and the gent drops a medium-sized crab into her palm that he'd seemingly been keeping in his coat pocket. Now we do live on the coast and it's only a 25 minute walk from our pub to the bay so how he got the crab wasn't an issue, it did startle K though and she instinctively flung it down the length of the bar, where it scuttled behind one of the bar fridges.

She took his pint back and told him to buggar off, and after noting it in the local pub chat a couple other bartenders replied saying they knew who he was and this isn't the first time he's done it, and also that he was already barred from most pubs in the area for similar reasons.

It did reemerged just as her shift ended and one of my other collegues trapped it under an upside-down pint glass for the evening manager to deal with. I didn't work this shift (i always miss the interesting stuff -_-) but I was drinking with K that evening when she gets a message from the night manager going "erm, what's with the crab?" which ended up being released into the carpark and presumably eaten by the gulls... or dissapearing down a drain we'll never truely know.

Anyway, the point is feel free to have a pint with a crab but they're not legal tender.
