remus and barty are parallels. that is all. (that is not all i will now tell you why in detail)

remus? known to be the "smart marauder" despite the harold porter books directly stating that james and sirius were the smartest students in their year

barty? known as "chaotic" and "insane" and "unhinged" and many other affectionately meant terms that do not lend themselves naturally to intelligence- despite it being harold porter books canon that barty crouch jr. was incredibly smart and took all 12 OWLS supplied by hogwarts, (hermione only took 10, AND SHE HAD A TIME TRAVELING DEVICE!!)

no this is not all, by the way, remus? the last marauder left alive after the first war. barty? the last skittle left after the first war.

the difference here is remus was well adjusted enough to not lose it and seek revenge. (he shouldve, dumbledor deserves to get punched, but still), and barty locked moody in a trunk for an entire schoolyear for killing evan.
