PLEASEPWLASE DRAW SOME ANGST (for either of them) I NEED TO KNOW MORE LORE I LITERALLY LOVE UR OCS SM
OK ANGST TIME!!!!!! (with some messy messy sketches!!!)
so for silvia, when she was in highschool, she had major anger issues and used to get in a ton of fights (usually with bullies, but the teachers didn’t care she was protecting the weaker students) so she got suspended and sent to detention a lot.
here’s our lil high school firecracker:
Tumblr media
well at some point during her junior year she ended up getting into a fight with a teacher and got expelled, and it was the only high school in the small idaho city she lived in, and her parents couldn’t afford to move to a different city to enroll her in another class. so one day, when silvia was gone, they packed up, left her enough money to pay for the next months rent, and moved out of town.
drawing is silvia the night her parents left (based on that one scene from coraline)
Tumblr media
now with diane, there were so many post-portal angst moments that i decided instead to do a pre-portal angst moment, specifically when bill revealed his true intentions to ford. bill, from the beginning, was strategic when it came to interacting with diane: he never went too far or pushed too many buttons or gave too much away. just enough to make diane suspicious, but not enough to scare her away completely. instead, he made ford doubt her intentions toward him wayyyyy early on, then when ford found out about the portal he made ford think that diane was helping him and that she was always his backup plan if ford turned on him.
at first he didn’t believe it, but when bill brought up her strangely cooperative behavior when it came the portal, her seemingly endless knowledge on the weirdness in gravity falls, the coincidence of their meeting in college and in town, and the weekly phone calls diane was so secretive about, ford began to believe it more and more.
here’s a sketch of the first time ford’s paranoia got the better of him:
Tumblr media
more on the secret phone call and what happened to silvia when she left idaho soon!!!

12 and 16 for the DAV Hype questions!
oooh, good ones! thank you for the ask
12. What's one thing you're hoping we DON'T see in this next game?
i am VERY excited for all the elven lore, however, i hope that not every major mystery in the game ties back to the ancient elves and the ancient elves alone. i don't mind if the other ancient factions tie in with elven lore, especially around the time that the veil went up - that makes total sense, it was a big deal. i just mean i hope it's not, like, "the elves caused everything, they were the original dragons, they were the archdemons, they inspired andraste, and dwarves, qunari, humans, and the blight all came from their actions."
16. What's one crack theory you subscribe to (yours or someone else's)?
i'll ignore my giant pepe silvia board about kirkwall and the magisters sidereal, because we don't have time to unpack all THAT... but a pet crack theory i've had for a while is that hawke is related to corypheus. ghil dirthalen actually did a video on it, found here. i provided her with some of the reasons i find it unlikely to be a reveal this late in the series, but hey, what good crack theory is based on solid logic and evidence? 😅

What’s your thoughts on all of the scugs and their campaigns? I’m curious in general, but also wonder about peoples thoughts on the scugs if they dislike the campaign or vice versa
well- i haven't played through all of the scugs yet (haven't touched Riv or Saint at all) so i can't really speak on what i think about the campaigns when it comes to the gameplay itself. ya get me
for Monk: i really like the idea of a really chill campaign even though i don't fucking know why but i managed to have more rage inducing time with Monk than with Surv. i REALLY fuckin love Monk's story though. it's So Fucking Good, i'm such a slut for actions made out of absolute, endless and unquestionable platonic love between siblings (wink wonk at my takes on Moon and Nish). like that one post i wrote about the comparisons between Monk the brother/Surv the sister and Pebbles the brother/Moon the sister? that one line where i was like "he walks across the entire facility grounds of two iterators, dreaming of her, having faith in that she's still around."????? i LOVE IT SO MUCH -punches a wall- imagine you love your sibling so so much that even though they might be dead your faith in their ability to live on is so Fecking Stronk that you are dreaming of them, see them sleep in the corner of a shelter
for Surv: Surv is Surv, it's like trying to live without bread and water. can't say anything negative or really positive about the campaign cuz it's just so intrigated into my head as the Base for everything. just like bread and water, you love and appreciate it silently. can always count on it being there. doesn't mean it gets loved any less just because you don't put the thought of adoration upon it every second. it's just a constant note in the background of your life that offers comfort by its existence
for Hunter: i fucking LOVE... i Have played Hunter only after Spear and Arti though which, as defined by utuber user Ruby Rooz, is cheating (/lh) so i haven't had the same frustrations with the cycle limit like a pre-Downpour player (even though i'm pre-Downpour, i never finished any campaign back then). i had fun just kind of zooming by everything and idk man, NSH is my absolute favorite iterator so everytime i looked at the green neuron i just kind of smiled to myself cuz i kept thinking "he's right here, making the journey with me". Hunter's lore is what first captivated me and made me interested in RW (along with the buddhistic roots of the game's religion)! they introduced us to NSH, explained quite a bit about Moon's current position, what Hunter could mean to Pebbles makes me wanna -Pepe Silvia bit from Always Sunny in Philadelphia-
for Gour: i don't really have much to say about their campaign. i'd put it above Monk gameplay-wise but story-wise underneath them. running around collecting food is nice, i like how it deviates from the previous three in that the iterators basically don't matter at all. the most they matter is eating a neuron and yellin at Pebbles to LET ME OUT LET ME OOOOUUUUUT. it offers a different perspective from what we are used to and i really like when things turn 180° and just walk a completely different path from what is "widely accepted" (honestly a reason why i silently adore Shkika's Innocence so much). in Gour's eyes these godly machines are nothing more than just part of the background. unimportant. just another obsticle. something so important in one part of the world diminished into nothing important. no matter how holy someone thinks a thing is, to someone else it's going to be pointless (and, wonderfully enough, it goes the other way around as well.). Gour's most shining moment story-wise is reached once you think about it deeper and come to realise that what they stand for is a hint of variety of understanding the world. they expand the world very subtly. they make thinking about RW less claustrophobic. other than that i'm just "i just think they are neat" about them. i keep quoting the Ruby Rooz video when i think about Gour too- "who ELSE has the arm of a GOD capable of decimating most of the local fauna with one spear and strongly suggesting to those that it doesn't to promptly LeAVhe." also hot take but the big gamer peeps need to stop bitchin bout the tiredness factor of Gour. good challenge. nice variety. are you allergic to planning? have you not listened to Lyanna Kea, in her skits about Asian moms, telling you to have some Initiative for once in your life? because i am an OVERTHINKER and that one utube short, said in that way of speaking changed my fucking life and now i'm here living to my fullest with the local fatty. jokes on u, speedrunners, i've found joy
for Arti: murder is fun! :) scav tolls are not. :( ability to maim remains superior to everything else in this fuck of a game (affectionate). Garbage Wastes need to be stopped. this is probably my number one fav screen from the entire game (Metropolis kicks ass, the lore reveal in person of at least a Small piece of what it was like to be an Ancient makes me giddy)
Tumblr media
for Riv: i recognize a threat to my safety in those eyes. i do not trust them. gameplay experience pending (i'm going to break something while travelling through The Rot, i already know it). the soundtrack Not Your Rain is one of the best fucking things i've ever heard come from a game (high praise) and everything that is happening to Pebbles in Riv's campaign goes right along my morbid angst needs. other than that Riv is also in the "i just think they are neat" category. i wish we could've gotten a clearer hint towards what's up with Riv and what iterator they met
for Spear: the most kickass motherfucker was made by the most fail cringe dumb fuck creature i've ever been forced to bear witness to and i am both perplexed and deeply delighted by this (i wanna square up with Suns so bad i cannot begin to explain how much i wanna kick their ass). Spear's campaign is rn my most fav one because of all the lore drops, so much new canon NSH content, the sheer Worldbuilding, the fact that there's been more iterators shown and that they felt like Normal People... the conversation about SoS betting on lizards, the reveal that NSH was the first one to bring forth slugcats as messangers, the conversations between Secluded Instinct and Wandering Omen are one of my most favorite broadcasts besides NSH's attempts to reach Moon. gameplay-wise, i love that Spear's campaign feels like upgraded Survivor campaign. you are faster now, there's more aggressive enemies, you are on no time limit, you don't have to bother with finding spears, you don't have to bother with Directly Taking A Corpse Into Your Hands and Eating it, you get to eat the fuckin carnivorous plants... -dreamy sigh- what more could one want. the whole lore pearl bringing to Moon was a headache without a stomach storage but that is such a little piece of it that i don't mind. the storyline pearl i could stand because i found it nice that i was forced to adapt to it. Moon's whole superstructure was breath-taking to see and i'm very glad that we got to explore an uninfected iterator while their antigravity and bugzappers didn't work. though it hurt to think about it cuz We Care Moon, i had a lot of fun slugging around her superstructure and using needle ladders to get around- OH YEAH i fuckin LOVE making needle ladders. i also really enjoyed the fact that you can make friends with the scavs like -snaps fingers- this fast thanks to the whole needle production thing. seeing Pebbles get angry like that was awesome. i'll admit that i really admire his anger and this sort of... "justice" seeking (?) he has going on that is heavily influenced by the game's/Ancient's religion. you can fight me on this but Pebbles is the least pathetic character in the entire game besides like Hunter, maybe NSH and Gour. i also got to meet the ugliest scav i've seen in RW so far and i'll prolly never forget the experience because i Just got thru the Underhang to the Wall (my first time going thru Underhang and using the grapple worms, i was dodging having to that for ages) and i was SO pissed and annoyed that i was just about ready to quit the game for that session but then i saw this ugly ass motherfucker just waltzing about and the sheer and sudden Horror and Affront of an Artist i've felt straight up snapped me out of my rage. LIKE GJLKDMKLSD that NEVER happened to me before Suns' design also kinda sorta actually plays into my little silly iterator color coding theory from two years ago which was fun to see! i'll still kick their fuckin ass Garbage Wastes need to be stopped. here are my fav screenies from my Spear playthru
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for Saint i'm rn mostly like:
Tumblr media
i don't fuckin know what why and how is happening and it feels like such a giant ass steppy from what i had grown used to with the base slugs that even though i'm very stern on myself with being open minded about everything all the time i'm having trouble adjusting to it kgjsalkmklsdgjklsd i don't trust myself with giving a solid verdict until i've beaten Saint myself. i'll prolly talk about it in my "finished the slug!" post when i do get thru 'em
finally rating of the campaigns: Monk - 7/10 Survivor - 8/10 Hunter - 9.5/10 Gourmand - 6.9/10 Artificer - 9/10 Rivulet - TBA Spearmaster - 10/10 Saint - TBA

Remnant 2 Is An Incredible Game That's Worth Every Minute of Your Time. But...
The title isn't misleading, Remnant 2 might be one of the only games released recently that is worth it's base $60 price tag. Hell, at the time of writing, I'd even say it's worth buying the three dlc that's scheduled to come out soon. (The first two are already out, but the last one is yet to be reviled.) However, I have some concerns about the future of the game. Nothing to lower the worth of Remnant 2 right now. But enough that I wanna bring them up to be addressed.
(This game is also incredibly deep, on the macro and micro level. If I miss something. I may come back here and change or add to this review to clarify.)
What is Remnant 2?
Remnant 2 is a third person looter shooter with soul-like elements. A simple concept in hindsight, but believe me, it gets crazier. Your character gets sucked through a big rock into alternate realities, such as;
An Overgrown Vegan Wonderland with Violent Plant-life and (sometimes racist) Furries That Would Swear on Their Hooves That They Remember Woodstock.

Tumblr media
The world variety is really a joy to explore. Including N'Erud! I may have chosen the worst part of it for the joke, but many of the dungeons in N'Erud are a blast. (We'll get into it further when I break down each world.)
Within each world is different variations of environments that feel like someone had lived there at some point. Each world had hosted a society of lore to be uncovered. And depending on which campaign you roll, you can get different pieces of lore to the same story. There are very few games that I actually enjoy uncovering the lore of myself. Guilty Gear, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, BlazBlue, and Devil May Cry. But now Remnant 2 is added to that list of really fun lore to uncover. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I find it interesting. Not just in how it's written or how you can find new pieces, but for how it's implemented in the game.
Secrets Out Of Everyone's ***
Gunfire Games made Remnant 2 the Pepe Silvia to everyone's mail room. A couple of days ago I made a post on the Remnant 2 subreddit explaining a bug I found with the Polygun. Switching to the gun with infinite ammo when you had zero ammo caused the game to crash. After explaining the bug, I had two people in the comments theorizing about how it's not a bug and instead a way to access a new hidden item.
Not to spoil anything, or tell you where to exactly find the following. But here are some insane examples.
If you return two children to an orphanage, you can talk to the granny sowing by the fire to learn that they are actually an Oracle-like being. They love quilts, and if you let them ramble about them for a while, they'll give you a relic.
Rolling specific world's campaign will give you an open area to explore. In that open area there are three pieces of a circle pendant. But you can only pick up 1 in each instance of that campaign. So you have to play the same world three times to pick up each piece and give them to a merchant in the camp. That merchant will give you an amulet. Take that amulet behind a waterfall and reveal a secret passageway and receive a new gun.
The Backrooms hold a secret class that you can only get after beating the game once.
Stand next to a large sewer grate, and you'll be pulled into Jerma985's closet of dead bodies. Kill the rat king and you'll get a new class.
Two Kings claim to be the true king of an area. You are tasked with voting out the Imposter King via assassination. (I wish I was making up the Imposter part, but I'm not.)
A god of destruction is hunting a doe. You stumble upon the doe inside the god of destruction's lair. The devil tries to convince you to sin. This one fight has 4 DIFFERENT REWARDS based entirely on how the fight plays out.
If it wasn't instantly obvious, you should consult a wiki while playing this game. I also recommend using an item tracker too, because there are 742 items. We could be here all day with the insane interactions between player decisions and gameplay. But I want to leave you invested to experience some of them as they happen. (Also there are the two secret items that had to be data mined by the community to find. So who knows what we're missing.)
Expansive Library for Build Crafting
Remnant 2 is a massive game with player creativity and theory crafting at it's center. With a simple system of, pick two classes, then pick an amulet, then pick four rings. Nearly everything and anything you think of can be viable. If it's your first time playing, a simple build is preferred. There's a lot going on the macro and micro level, and the build you start with probably won't be the same build you end your run with. But;
Wanna make a build that focuses around guns and gun damage, then run Hunter and Gunslinger and blast everyone in your path. There's a build for that:
Tumblr media
Wanna make a build that turns you Lifestealing Summoner?
Tumblr media
Wanna play the Status Effect meta?
Tumblr media
Wanna become an AOE Pharmacist from Florida?
Tumblr media
Wanna be the child of Riden and Doomslayer?
Tumblr media
The variety is immense, but it can feel tedious to obtain items that are MANDATORY for a build to work. Example, there's an amulet in The Forgotten Kingdom that gives a 30% increase to all summons's damage. If that's what you're lacking for your summoner build, you'll need to fork over $10USD to get the opportunity to get that amulet. Lick mentioned before, there's a gun that requires you to roll and reroll the dlc campaign three times to grab all the parts for it. It can and will be tedious at times, but the payoff is almost always worth it.
The build verity is so crazy that you'll pick up a ring that increases all damage you take by 200%, but increases your damage by 15%. You sit there and wonder why anyone would want to use that. Then you'll wake up in a cold sweat wanting to play Batman; bare-knuckle brawling mentally insane Brits in the sewers. That ring will be the pencil case sniff you need to get you through the day. Don't get hit lmao.
You won't run out of ideas for dumb ideas to play the game with. But that's something that brings me to by first worry.
DLC, Great But Sadly Necessary
At the time of writing this review, The Awakened King and The Forgotten Kingdom are the only two dlc available. Both of them are $10USD each. What they add to the game are new rings and amulets that add building blocks to classes that desperately needed them. The Summoner class was nearly unanimously regarded as the worst class in the game. Not bad, but over shadowed by the other class combinations. (Hunter/Gunslinger, Alchemist/Medic, Any other class/Secret Class) But if someone what a Necromancy fanatic, they're going to be underwhelmed with just the base game.
This also goes for the Handler class. The doggy is a very good boy/girl, but it's not a class worth missing out on; An Engineer turret, an Invoker Storm, or a Medic's Heals. Not that the other classes are broken and need nerfs. But that the Handler Class is under powered. Everything that the Handler can do, a different class can also do better AND MORE. But you can pet the puppy, so it makes it the best class in the game from an objective perspective.
Tumblr media
(I hope this class gets a rework to make it worthwhile other than leveling it to lvl10 for the Kinship trait.)
Then there's the aspect of the classes we got with the dlc. Invoker is currently the strongest class in the game. Ritualist is also really REALLY good and can be used in tandem with Invoker. They spark the question of, 'Why do you need support classes when everything is already dead?' Elemental Damage is so strong that it doesn't make sense to use anything else when you're having problems with a boss. The game has an answer, it can give bosses Elemental Resist. But that's only a resistance, when I strike everything in a 24 meter radius with lighting for ~2000 damage. 🤷‍♀️ The storm lasts for 30 seconds, I'll pop a relic and chill till everyone's dead. If not, I'll throw out another one. "Opps wanted some motivation. Blew up their whole quadrant. I'm moving like Oppenheimer." -MF Dracula
They're just too strong for the glass casing they're in to be considered a problem.
When I say the dlc is necessary, it's cause there are some builds that don't work AS WELL as others with out the dlc. You still get an extremely satisfying experience for $60USD. But if you unlock Summoner, Handler, or Explorer with just the base game, they are going to feel lack-luster in comparison to other classes. Which is a real shame.
Gameplay is Well Balanced But Less Than You'd Expect
With builds, world secrets on top of secrets, Remnant 2 has a lot to offer. And we haven't even shot anything yet! So let's talk about controls.
Remnant 2 is very stiff feeling when you first pick it up. Not a bad kind of stiff, it's designed. Risk vs Reward is a common theme alongside Trade Offs.
Jumps are hard coded when you dodge roll off ledges, which also means that there's no designated jump button. You gotta sprint and roll. This isn't a hypermobility, Forknite, CoD montage fever dream. You have to be methodical with your actions. It can be easily expressed between whether you should dodge or dodge ROLL. If hold a movement key and press space, you'll dodge roll. (Like any souls-like game.) But if you just press space, then you're character will stagger back with less i frames, but recover faster. A LOT faster. To the point that you want to get as good as you can with neutral dodges. Especially if you're wearing heavy or ultra heavy armor.
As I said, the stiffness of the controls is designed carefully. Your character's movement options aren't what makes you strong. It's your weapons/armor/class skills/actual gamer skills that make you strong. Becoming better at the game, and understanding of a situation to better position yourself. That's what will keep you alive. But messing up a roll, or an important shot will convert you into a firm believer of any and all religions.
On the scale of Call of Duty Finest Hour to Warframe, Remnant 2 falls nicely around Red Dead 2 and Gears of War. There are some techs you can learn, and simplistic ai enemies that you can take advantage of to make up for simpler controls. Speaking of, videogamedunkey moments are frequent in this game. (If you know, you know.)
I'm going to sound like a psychopath in this next section, but just know, them rolipoly b****** in Yaesha were asking for the smoke.
Tumblr media
Gun play in Remnant 2 is really fun! The sounds of each gun tells you where they originate from. Thorn is from Yaesha and carries it's aesthetic. Similarly, Deceit has Losomn's Fae style. Each boss drops a material that can be made into a weapon and has a mod that makes them unique. Some guns don't have unique mods, meaning that you can attach a mod to it. Mods can vary from Lacing your bullets with fire or shoot a big spear into an enemy, to freeze a group of enemies in the 4th dimension or launch a fire tornado.
The universal gun reload speed is pretty slow in comparison to other shooters. But it incentivizes you to play smarter. The slow reload speed is off set by just how satisfying guns are to use. Each gun sounds and looks cool as hell. Then there's the Polygun...
I don't have a PHD in astrophysics and Proctology, but the fis**** you get from it is unearthly. Just imagine trying to play dark souls, but after every few swings you have to perfectly time a qte to be allowed to swing more. That's the Polygun. It's the best gun in the game if you don't **** it up.
"Oh the Places You Will Violate the Geneva Convention" - Ford
Like shown before, Remnant 2 has five world in total that you will explore on each playthrough. Three of them have multiple different layouts, dungeons, events, and 'injectibles' to spice up what happens in them. (Yaesha, Losomn, and N'Erud.) While two remain constant from run to run. (The Labyrinth, and The Final World.) On your first playthrough, it can feel overwhelming. And rightfully so.
Each world has (or will have) 3 different campaigns that you can roll in a play through. One of those three campaigns are the dlc campaign, so if you don't have it, or haven't beaten the dlc adventure then you won't have to worry about them.
Losomn has 24 different locations
Yaesha has 20 different locations
N'Erud has 12 different locations (doesn't have it's dlc yet.)
That's a lot! A few of the locations are large areas to run around in, with multiple doors that can take you to dungeons. Every Dungeon has their own boss fight too. Included in each dungeon are also 'injectables'; secret areas that you can find behind a statue, covered by destructible crates, or through fake walls. There's a massive sandwich that you can bite into with each world.
So, I was planning on writing about each world. However, this review is already really long. And there's other things that deserve to be in the review more. So I'll leave it at this;
Bosses are tough when you don't have a stable build. For your _first_ playthrough, play on the easiest difficulty.
Each world is basically their own game inside the bigger game of Remnant 2. There are elements and interactions with NPCs and items outside their respective worlds. Play with a wiki in a separate window.
If you feel like a boss is too hard, switch your build around. You might find that a mod/skill/amulet you were running might not do anything to the boss. Or you might just need to wear tankier armor.
Performance
Remnant 2 was made predominately for the console version. I play on the PC port, so my experience might be a bit different from yours. My PC isn't a slacker either. (NVIDIA 3060ti, Intel i7, 32gbs RAM) There is a major flaw in the optimization for this game. I run it on medium graphic settings, but I still get frame drops in a few combat areas. They're few and far between, but enough to wanna bring that up.
I also wanna bring up a specific setting in Remnant 2 that is critical to the game to actually run well. You see, instead of actually optimizing the game's PC port themselves, Gunfire off loads that job to AI. I don't like Generative AI. AI artwork is theft. But to my understanding, Remnant 2 isn't generated by any AI. It uses AI to help optimize the game in the background as you play. I don't know how it works, but I haven't seen anywhere that says it's making something itself. So I'm ultimately fine with this. AI IS still doing a job that humans CAN do, but Gunfire is handing it off to the AI to then focus on other areas. Which benefits them, and helps the consumer. At least for now...
The AI used to help optimize the game is made by other companies. NVIDIA, AWD, and Intel. Meaning that only specific hardware can use this highly necessary setting. And in the off chance that NVIDIA's AI changes version enough, I might not be able to play the PC version of Remnant 2. With the optimization relying on hardware and software that will eventually change, the crutch that's holding Remnant 2 up is potentially going to stop supporting it. And that worries me.
Since it is just optimization, hardware will become strong enough to overpower these problems. But who knows how long that will take to become affordable to the average consumer.
If your computer's hardware is able to run the AI optimization tools, then you might be able to play this game. But if you know your computer isn't that strong, then this might be a game you'll have to skip for a while.
Speaking of Affordable, Let's Put a Price on This Game.
At the time of writing this review, I'm at 105 hours. (And I'm about to put in some more after I'm done.)
Tumblr media
The current base price of Remnant 2 on Steam is $50USD. Which I think is a F****** STEAL. I'd easily give Remnant 2 a $60/$50. If Soulslike/Roguelite Looter Shooters are your thing, this game should already be in your library. The fact you haven't bought and played the game already is offensive to me.
Tumblr media
There are two other 'Editions' for sale. To keep is simple, the 'Deluxe Edition' is a complete waste of money. Everything in it can be achievable in game for free. Don't buy the 'Deluxe Edition'. The 'Ultimate Edition' is what you should be looking at. It comes with the dlc for a cheaper price than the base game + dlc separately. (Plus it comes with some other stuff that doesn't really matter.) Other than "The Awakened King", "The Forgotten Kingdom", and the last dlc campaign, there are no other dlcs for sale. So our minimum maximum price that you can pay for is set to $70USD.
I'd say 75/70 for Remnant 2 is perfectly reasonable for what you're getting.
This game is worth more than it's cost. If you haven't played it already, I'm sure you'll like it.
(Since starting to write this review, I beat the game twice by the time I finished it. Hence why it took so long.)
ALSO I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THIS GAME HAS ONLINE MULTIPLAYER LIKE F****** **** CAN IT STOP GETTING BETTER!?!

Rollercoaster episode: the statement is extremely disturbing on one side (IMAGINE suddenly finding yourself in a place that is almost like your home but not quite) and so rich-I-am-going-into-Charlie-in-the-Pepe-Silvia-meme-mode when you have ALL THE LORE and knows what this imply in the larger scheme of things (or better: what it MIGHT imply) and, then...
Tim and Jon. Goddamit, Tim andn his anger, but also his guilt and mourning about the whole Sasha situation, the little crumbs where you can see how good the relationship with Jon could have been if all this hadn't happened...too much for one episode (and that is why I love this podcast)
If we hadn't known about hiltop road and its implications I would have categorized this statement as spiral based on Anya's experience alone

I had been bothering my friend for days asking him questions about the lore cause he's got a much better memory than I and I ended up making a timeline
Spoilers under the cut
Tumblr media
This is a timeline following the assumption that DP2 is correct in saying the events in DP1 happened 10 years ago, before the release of that game I saw it was speculated that the game actually took place in 2006 instead of 2009, which doesn't shift the timeframe much but does have some interesting implications
Honestly I'd prefer to lean towards 2006 being more accurate just based on the tech York used but it doesn't really matter much
It isn't on the timeline but when I found out Carol would have been like 9 or 10 when George and Thomas got involved my fucking head exploded
I straight up looked like the pepe silvia scene messaging my friend in the middle of the night like DUDE IT WAS WAY MORE FUCKED THAN WE THOUGHT

So many thoughts and questions
Chapter 18: Everything was going good then out of nowhere Conner shoots someone! Did he become a horror by some other means or could it have been when he fell into that river the night his mom died? Either way I still don’t think MC ‘purified’ anything.
The whole exchange with the officer is confusing. Why would whoever tipped them off just mention Connor’s name? Sure the cabin is his name but other people have been outside with Noah more than him (what eyewitness is this peeping on a cabin in the woods?) How could she say Noah Marshall ‘disappeared’? I thought his body was buried- there definitely was a body in ILITW. I don’t remember Connor knowing/reporting Jessica disappearance first- MC was the one who reported her murder and had multiple officers combing the woods to find nothing but MC’s not a suspect?  Not to mention a lone cop coming to search a cabin with a warrant?
I still think that Matthias is LJ’s brother. The power has responded to sacrifices- it doesn’t make sense to me that it wouldn’t be able to discern an attempted murder to an actual murder. Also the way Matthias was talking about Lincoln you’d swear he never had another wife and newborn child that he was supposed to get home to in the past (unless Matthias doesn’t know that we know about them from the documents). Thirdly just showing is a picture supposedly from back then isn’t enough proof for me: if the power can essentially erase Amalia’s existence at her school, mess up recordings, not to mention the guy can change his appearance based on age- a picture ain’t cutting it for me. If Mc ends up somewhere alone with Matthias again and they find that last lore document and it reveals what LJ stands for/ his brother’s name that has thus far never been mentioned... I feel chills just thinking about it.
The next question I have is would Matthias have gone as far as to murder his son so that he could become the next anchor? Is that why he pushed him so hard to train and develop his abilities and that’s also why he was distant to him (thinking back to that poor 7 year old boy who would’ve done anything to please his dad and Matthias knew that)? Silvia probably found out and wanted to stop him so Matthias had Adrian kill her (and that’s why he didn’t let Lincoln see the crime scene).
After his son leaves Matthias knows that he wasn’t ready to be the next anchor so he and his cronies plan and then they decide to massacre Mc’s entire family; serving as the sacrifice for the ritual to make a new anchor (I don’t think MC’s soul is gone completely and after seeing Noah after the latest chapter I am more convinced of this).
MC is still MC and now that she’s come back to Westchester (after being warned to leave) at every turn he’s tried to manipulate them. First trying to get them to turn against their friends by showing up as Annie’s ghost and telling her she can’t trust them; then when the real Annie revealed herself and the jig was up telling her that she is not MC so that her friends will turn on her/she isolates herself.  All culminating in Matthias, going back to the scene of the crime knowing MC wouldn’t be able to stay away from it and thus starting the manipulation process.
What’s their next more though: so far those manipulation tactics have failed. Was the police thing with Connor the start?

You’re writing a book?! What the hell that’s so exciting!!
I was gonna ask you about it bc I’m 👀🍽️ but then I saw the ask game you were having and realized that nr 17 fits perfectly >:) (ofc you can be as specific as you want/are able to be) I’m also really curious about 23, more specifically if there’s a place you often go to where you generally feel more productive?
(and if these have already been asked you can just pick whichever question you feel like you want to answer lol ♥️)
Answering out of order!
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
I have a standing desk in my bedroom with a walking pad. On that desk is a Bluetooth keyboard, a stand for my laptop, and a second monitor. There's also a lamp, some speakers, a copy of Save the Cat Writes a Novel, a bunch of notebooks, some scrap paper, a mug with pens, some thumb tacks, and a candle. I've got a white board to the left, cork boards, and a conspiracy wall of paper taped everywhere for easy-access notes. I'm talking full Pepe Silvia set up, to be honest. It is not elegant, but it gets the job done.
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
Rambling vaguely about my original projects beneath the cut. There are two: the one I'm about to rewrite that I've been submitting to agents, and then the shiny new thing.
Project One! A YA contemporary fantasy novel called Initiate. To steal my twitter pitch/aesthetic.
Tumblr media
The women of 16-year-old Cal Townsend's family have two traditions--witchcraft and secrets. When her father suddenly dies, and Cal is sent to live with her estranged maternal grandmother on a remote island in Lake Superior, Cal unknowingly enters into both. Initiate has:
Great Lakes gothic vibes
A Superior-based magic system
Queer kids trying their best
Sentient shadows
Hauntings of various kinds
Breaking generational curses
So! Much! Ice!
ANYWAY. I am about to rip that one apart at the seams, so that's all I have to say about it. However, I am also working on a new one that would probably appeal to Batfam fandom fans, so why not pop it in here as well.
It does not have a title yet, and is only the crime mage boys wip.
Tumblr media
Set in a world that's exactly like ours except magic is an unquestioned part of it, the vibe of the crime mage boys wip is The Outsiders meets Rear Window but, like, also with magic and Chicago. Basically almost everyone has the capacity to do small magic (light a cigarette with a snap of the fingers, etc etc), but a small portion of the population can't do any (null) and another small portion can do big magic (mages).
The Grayson brothers (I know okay shut up) are hanging on by a thread. Leo (23, null, Tired™️) has been his brothers' legal guardian for the past 5 years and works multiple jobs with long hours to keep them afloat. JT (18/19, on week 52 of being in a bad mood) was a promising mage who had his magic permanently cut off by the police after being in the wrong place at the wrong time-- effectively torpedoing every future plan he'd ever had in a single night and leaving him floundering. Miles (14, protagonist, text book flight risk) just wants to keep his head down and not add to his brothers' many problems.
To bring in some extra money, Miles secretly works for a PI and helps her gather evidence (photos of cheaters caught in the act, checking to see if people really live at addresses--low risk recon jobs, basically). But add in a witnessed murder, a DIY-vigilante who keeps putting himself in Miles's way, and a growing mages' rights movement sweeping over the city, and Miles is getting a hell of a lot more than he bargained for.
ANYWAY that one is still very much in progress, but please enjoy these picrews of the three brothers: Miles, JT, and Leo, in that order.

is this a q&a rn bc i dont wanna be left out
which ocs have your fav designs & which ones have your fav lore? & bonus which ones have you had the longest perhaps? :3
IDK MAN I JSUT STARTED GETTING SOME QUESTIONS
not complaining tho, I like answering them fr fr.
My oc that has my favorite design currently is my dnd Aarakocra Druid, he’s based off a bone-eating vulture and his name is Perseus!
My oc with my favorite lore currently happen to be a small group since they are intertwined, Silvia, Aeryz and Rein. It’s a huge plot point for Abyssal.
If not them, then I really love the lore I have for my ocs North, a Dragonborn/Orc or Klaus, my serial killer oc.
The oc I’ve had the longest of everyone is Matteo, he’s in one of my much smaller stories, Gambino. He’s an older guy, retired bounty hunter/assassin !

Rewrite vs. Canon: Power Rangers series (Mighty Morphin' to Dino Fury)?
Note: If you can't do every PR season, that's fine. I understand and respect your decision. I recently discovered this trend from your ask posts from 2022, and I know it's currently 2023 at this point in time, but I thought of giving this trend a try; hell, maybe I might do this trend as well when I get the chance with my own rewrites).
P.S. Sorry about the long post from my last ask to you. I'll be more mindful of how long my ask posts are from now on.
Well it's basically my OCs inserted in the plot but here's a general rundown (im only going to Dino Charge because that's the last show I watched in full)
Maria and Bianca are african american twins, the former becoming mmpr purple and the latter being the school journalist
Originally maria was only going to be MMPR to Turbo 2nd half but I decided to keep her as Turbo Purple and have both her and Bianca travel to space with Maria becoming Space Violet. Bianca becomes a mission control for the team.
After Space ends, Maria and Bianca takes a long hiatus giving way for a new protagonist: Maggie Phenomenous.
Maggie is the Purple Space Ranger with Ice&Snow element. The twist is she didn't want to become a Ranger and felt it intruded on her civilian ofc she grows out of it & becomes less cold
After Galaxy, Maggie is given a job working for Lightspeed Rescue and befriends that series Purple Ranger; Alya Moon. Alya is a supernatural expert (she was gonna be a cop but I'm acab).
After Lightspeed, Alya learns of paranormal activity in another city which turns about to be time travel setting off the events of Time Force. There she meets the rowdy heiress Wendy Collins.
Wendy becomes that series' purple ranger and undergoes an arc about taking responsibility. She also has a romantic arc with Eric Meyers. I thought about making her Quantum Pink as a foil for Jen.
After Time Force, Wendy moves to a beach city (lol) and becomes involved with the events of Ninja Storm. Introduced to Alli Velasquez, the Ninja Storm Pink Ranger of Fire.
After Ninja Storm Alli gets a job as a teaching assistant at a local high school. At the same time, Rosalyn is starting her freshman year and becomes Dino Thunder Pink. Tommy already knows who Alli is.
After that we go to 2025 where the daughter of Maria is a Ranger for SPD. Her name is Amethyst "Amie" Lee Scott. A big change is Isinia: rather than being a plot device she's an actual character and formerly a Ranger herself but was captured by the bad guys. In the finale she stages a breakout & reunites with Doggie.
Back to 2005 we're introduced to the Triple Threat: Opalina, Octavia, and Olivia. Opalina is the Mystic Force Black Ranger and her power is gemstones. She's a stage magician who becomes a real one.
Overdrive gets a major OVERHAUL and becomes a legitimate adventure series also the Rangers don't quit when they lose their powers. Since it's meant to be an anniversary season we get updates to what the previous Rangers are doing including a Family Reunion. Octavia is the Purple Ranger and she doesn't have powers.
Olivia is the last triplet and a skilled martial artist. So impressed RJ offers her a spot on the team; later she becomes the pink ranger.
RPM has Mavis as the Pink Ranger.
Samurai is more cohesive in terms of lore: Jayden and Lauren's mother married a Japanese businessman who is also the leader of the Shiba Clan, making them explicitly adopted. But because of an injury Mr. Shiba is out of action leaving Lauren to step up to take care ot business duties while Jayden does all the demon hunting.
Silvia is that season's purple ranger of ice and snow bc i found out Antonio's powers are gold/metal based. Her arc is learning to make new friends after she moves away.
After, we go to Bobbi, a high school student and Silvia's friend from her old hometown. Bobbie becomes the season's Purple Ranger (Mega and Super Mega). Maria and Bianca makes their big return; Maggie and Leo are married and so is Wendy and Eric. poor Amie is forced to halt her wedding plans to go back in time to help her family. The series ends with Amie and Sky getting married in the present (well 2014)
After that, Maria gets a job at a dinosaur museum and gets involved in the Dino Charge season as a mentor for her younger cousin Frieda. She adjusts to being the Yellow Ranger. Cuz I don't know how you're gonna have a PR season and exclude one of the primary colors 🤔

An (Over)analysis into Magic, Ghosts and Technology in Geth, part 1.
I should probably start of with a warning that I discuss spoilers for Bone 2 Pick, Spell Check, Wedded Redemption, Baking Bad, the Orbocalypse Saga, Legacy of Dragons and Oxventure Presents Blades in the Dark. If you have not seen all of these episodes and want to avoid spoilers, please don’t read any further.
Right, now the spoiler warning is out of the way, I am going to try my best to explain my thoughts as succinctly as possible. Though considering I’ve spent the last three months going full Pepe Silvia on Oxventure Lore that might be hard. 😂 And yeah, I’m probably going to be the only person interested in this but ah well if I can promote any discussion on this I’ll be absolutely delighted 😅
So, in Baking Bad, the Oxventurers were tasked with infiltrating a mechanical city owned by Lizardfolk in order to rescue some pastry chefs and in the process released a very primordial being of fire called Imix.
A few weeks later, Johnny described Mistmire as being a ‘mechanical marvel of a city’ (Mean Gulls 1:10:50). This along with the fact that the Lizardfolk city and Mistmire were both described as being Tiered Citadels made me wonder what the heck was powering Mistmire. That question would be answered a week later in Mist Opportunities when it turns out that it was being powered by a gold dragon. However, noticing that coincidence made me realise some more information that might potentially be important down the line.
Going back to Baking Bad the Lizardfolk city drew power for Imix by plugging it into a machine which was extracting energy from. During this process, Imix was also trapped in some sort of orb like thing that it could not break out of on its own. This reminded me a little of the Osillatronic energy utilised by Volisport during Blades in the Dark.
So, my question then became did the Brighteners look at all these Mechanical Marvels being powered by Demons/Gold Dragons and go ‘We like this idea but Demons and Dragons are hard to come by and very difficult to control. Ghosts on the other hand…” and built the Barricade as a result?
To answer that question, we need to consider how did the Brighteners gain the knowledge to create the Barricade? Was it reverse engineered from studying necromancy and seeing how the undead could be prevented from moving onto the afterlife and then applied that on a grander scale? Did they learn it from a Demon/Eldritch being?
I personally think that it’s the former for two main reasons. Firstly, there is evidence that a Brightener, or at least an ancestor of a Brightner, has utilised arcane artefacts to power technology. In the Orbocalypse Saga, we discover than an Astor is in charge of the prison known as Alcatraz, the mechanisms of which are powered by one of the orb shards. As this Orb was used to contain Vocatus, this shows that it was also powered by Demonic Energy which ties into the idea that the Brighteners were influenced by Demonic energy being used to power constructs such as Alcataz when it came to building the barricade.
Secondly, I want to discuss Spell Check. In this episode Liliana had the means to inhibit the Oxventurer’s ability to use magic by enchanting her prison with runes that siphoned magic out of magic casters and into pipes that took it to a massive vat of magic. Is that what the Barricade is kinda doing on a massive scale? Siphoning magic from the world as a whole to power the device that lets ghosts in.
However, using magic to power technology might be inefficient as the prisoners in Liliana’s prison tended to last a month before dying and turning into Husks (based on the Dwarf’s guild). Furthermore, not everyone has a magical aptitude so you only have a limited amount of people who could be used as an energy source and they would not last forever. However, everyone dies eventually so ghosts is a much, much more sustainable energy source.
Furthermore, there is evidence that magic and spectral energy are similar. In Bone 2 Pick, when the Oxventurers were performing the ritual to summon Ethilfreth, Prudence casts Detect Magic on the Builder’s Ghost. When she does so, Ethilfreth lights up in the same way that magic does. This therefore suggests that ghosts in some way are either made up of magic, or are made up of a substance that is similar to magic. After all, if energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed, then the magical energy that mortals have is transmutated into whatever energy ghosts are formed from. This could also explain how the Brighteners managed to work out that ghosts could be used as an energy source because if ghosts and magic are the same thing or similar, then ghosts should be a potential replacement source.
So, my thinking is that, Astor was inspired by Alcatraz’s design/mechanisms and, needing an energy source after the Oxventurers removed the orb shard from the mechanism, did some research into finding another energy source. Somehow in the process recruited the rest of the Brightners and managed to find a way of tweaking the mechanisms so that ghosts could be used instead. Then, created the barricade to cause all the ghosts to be unable to move on and thus power all of the other devices. However, this in turn siphoned magic out of the world, and this magic was used to further power the barricade.
Furthermore, this is supported by Sphere We Go. 21 minutes into the episode Johnny describes the Astor family as having a “casual disregard for magic” long before it was revealed that the Astor family were Brighteners and that the Barricade was the reason magic had been siphoned out of Geth. Therefore, the Astor family’s disregard of magic could have also inspired them to create the Barricade as getting rid of magic would have been a bonus on top of creating a ‘replacement energy source’ to replace magic and Demons.
One flaw with this hypothesis is that we don’t actually get a description of how the Barricade is powered. Towards the end of To the Depths, Edvard and Barnaby find the schematics for the Barricade which is described as being an Octagonal Ring that is roughly 7 stories high and is described as a ‘shocking piece of engineering’. Later on, when they go there they enter a vast cavern, and see an immense ring against a huge wall in the cavern. It was glowing intensely and had blades that were spinning very loudly.
However apart from a control panel with one large wooden leaver there isn’t any descriptions for how the mechanisms actually function, and no descriptions of any glowing runes. Perhaps the technology used to power the Barricade is different from the one Liliana utilised in Spell Check. Or perhaps the Brighteners refined it. That I do not have a definitive answer for. Hopefully we will get some answers soon.
Furthermore, we also have the question of how the other Brighteners got involved. We, for example encountered the Fortescue family during Wedded Redemption and, when Aubrey was spoon feeding Lord Fortescue bisque, Lord Fortescue said “I had an idea for the most fantastic invention” (47:10). Are the Fortescues well known inventors? Perhaps, though it’s more likely that they were hereditarily wealthy, and thus could bank roll the whole project into creating the Barricade.
What does this mean going forward for the Oxventurers? I honestly have no idea, except I’m probably not going to trust any random Artificer in Geth. They could be working on the Barricade after all.
However, one thing I do know is that we still have other members of the Brighteners not accounted for. Will we encounter an ancestor of Lord Stangford, and learn how they were involved in the creation of the Barricade? And how did the organisation that eventually became the Deathwardens develop? Who was responsible for the initial research into ghosts and how creating the hole in the fabric of reality in Geth would prevent the dead from moving on?

What are the inspirations behind each of your Power Rangers OCs and who are each of them named after? ✊🏻💥🌈📝🎨
Tumblr media
Most of their inspos gonna have to be on individual bios since i put a LOT of research into them. To keep it brief
Created my ocs to fill in extra colors/elements/motifs as is fandom tradition but also to have more female nonwhite rangers in non stereotypical roles
Overall myth arc is set up like a generational saga so most rangers come from the same family barring a few exceptions
Moat of the names I just made up on the spot but some do habe thematic ties
Maria and Bianca came out of the desire to have a sibling team and for Maria to already establish a candidate to replace her. So they're the leads from MMPR to In Space
Maria is inspired loosely on Maria del Barrio, but also Cassie from Animorphs, Katie Kazoo, and several rl musicians
Bianca was based on Lois Lane being an active stubborn journalist trying to uncover the Rangers identities. The conflict was Maria keeping a secret from her own sister
After Space I thought maybe Bianca could continue being a ranger as the purple galaxy ranger; then i came up with Phenomenous's niece
Dr. Phenomenous is shortened to Dr. Phenom, and she had ice powers to contrast Leo's fire (being love interests, sorry leo x kendrix/karone fans!!) She's loosely based on the source material Gingaman which is why she has an interest in horses and has a unicorn Galactabeast
Alya's name from Miraculous Ladybug obviously; she was going to be a cop but after some time...ACAB baby!
Kyra was created so Cole could have a closer connection to his biological family; her surname sounds like 'lion'
Wendy is based on Devon Aoki's character from 2Fast 2 Furious; she is also Eric Meyers' love interest. I thought about making her Quantum Pink since their romance are foil to Wes x Jen.
Allison is meant to be the dutiful Star Student to contrast the antics of the Ninja Storm's trio her arc was learning not to take everything too seriously. Also to fill in the missing element Fire
Rosita was introduced into mmpr lore as a toddler; Dino thunder has her became a ranger in freshman year of HS. She's based disney channel protagonists like Miley & Raven. Her name is because of pink roses and she's the Pink Ranger.
Violetta's name is for her ranger color; ppl just call her Letty for short. Her number is actually 7 for good luck
Originally Opal Octavia and Olivia were all going to be purple Rangers then i decided to give them unique to better distinct them from one another. So Opal is silver (jewellery), Octavia is Violet, and Olivia is pink
Silvia's name sounds similar to silver and her element is Metal. Also played around her being the Silver ranger opposite to Gold Ranger Antonio. Her originally faceclaim was Demi Lovato
Bobi was originally a yt redhead and her name was at random. But now She's a black redhead. Also she and Silvia went to the same middle school
Frieda is named after rhe blue haired girl from El Tigre i thought her name is so pretty. Also fills in for yellow bc omg how they forget yellow???
Forgot about the rest but these should help you understand the core basics!!

🩶 self-love time! talk about which ones of YOUR creations (edits, artworks, fanfics) you like the most then send to other creators to do the same 🩶
I’m so glad you asked this! I’ve got quite a few and I’ll include the reasoning to :D
Tumblr media
Sometimes I look back at this and think, “wow I can’t believe I did that”. It was when I was FINALLY learning how to edit the skin in Blender, and for a simple looking render, it’s by far one of my favourites.
Tumblr media
While this was just a quick render/edit for a concept I had, it’s one of my favourites because it’s a representation of Zosia’s struggles with mental illness - Depression, BPD, etc (just like me fr) and how it’s the one thing that consumes them no matter what, even when there is light on the other side.
Tumblr media
Next up is this render I did of one of my OCs, Sorya Moau. I just really like how he looks and this scene just felt so fitting to him. He’s one of the main characters in Intruder, and I can’t wait to explore his character more.
Tumblr media
This edit. I just really like how it turned out. I came across something like this on Pinterest, and wanted to recreate it. So I hopped into Sims, made this sim, made a transparent render and everything else was done on Photoshop (I think Picsart too?).
Tumblr media
Finally, this edited render. TRIGGER WARNING FOR CHILD LOSS.
This edit is based on Silvia’s lore, where both of her daughters were murdered by her former colleague while she was returning home from a mission. It covers her struggles with grief, and how she’s incapable of letting them go many years later. Not only was this edit difficult to do because of her lore, but it was literally difficult in general. I remember having issues with the cloths in Blender, and them in Photoshop, it was trying to capture a certain look to the cloth etc. it was worth it in the end, although very heartbreaking.
