Love in Oklahoma - Javier ‘Javi’ x F! reader
prompt: javi and his girl bought a small farm in Oklahoma, reworked it and adopted little nancy!
TW: mentions of injury, implications of smut
i saw @tempesttamers make a post about seeing anthony ramos with nancy and they needed a javi fic who has a miniature cow named nancy lol. it was such a cute idea, so thanks for that!
Tumblr media
Whenever it wasn’t tornado season down in Oklahoma, the excitement was buzzing for the next one. Everyone round the bonfire of another cheap motel, all the storm chasers would gather and share stories of chasing a twister or two, the failures, close calls, successes… reminiscing the adrenaline high everyone felt in their own way.
But you and Javi had no place to stay apart from those motels. Your homes were far away from the southwest, and though storm season was over, Javi still needed to do a lot of research and analytics for storm patterns, their paths, conditions, humidity levels and even sometimes forecasts. Storm Par was busy all year.
Since he dragged you from your own job in the city down to Tornado Alley, you felt like you belonged down there, among the wheat fields, cheap food, thick humid air and wide skies; you and Javi would stargaze at times, and they seemed brighter down there for two reasons. One, there was no pollution for them to shy away behind and two, Javi was there - the man who seemed to make everything brighter.
So rather than stay basically homeless, Javi saved up some money and bought a little house with a farm. Barely half the size of a football field, it was selling for pretty cheap, so you Javi bought it for the two of you.
It wasn’t grand, but you two loved it very much. A small, simple, two story farmhouse with a porch, wide and welcoming, its wooden steps leading up to the red-brick house. Inside, it was definitely in need of some handiwork, but it was inviting nonetheless. After all, blank walls are nothing but a canvas to store potential. Dark stained wooden floorboards run throughout, giving it a rustic elegance. Though scuffed by generations of footsteps, they were very well polished. The kitchen, an open wide space, the heart of the home, had a traditional water pump basin and sink. You grinned when you saw it, turning to Javi who raised his eyebrows in shock and chuckled quietly, shaking his head in amusement. The sink sat beneath a window with a picturesque view of the backyard. White wooden cabinets adorned the walls, giving the kitchen its own light. Though the house was partially furnished, providing you with a large, rectangular dining table, some vintage pantry cabinets, and some sturdy chairs the previous owners left behind.
The second floor was led by some creaking wooden steps, and after climbing the short flight, you were met with a master bedroom with a large window overlooking the front yard, connected to a bathroom with checkered floor tiles, one of your new favourite things. They had a normal tap unlike the kitchen basin downstairs, and large mirror with some storage units and a shower. The other room, another bedroom, was smaller in comparison, but still had a window and a large bookshelf covering one whole wall. The other bathroom, almost as large as a room itself, was spacious, with two sinks, a rainshower, and bathtub.
Needless to say, you two fell in love with the house.
Once you two moved in, you both started to rework the place a little. Javi invited some close friends from Storm par and you invited Kate and the Tornado Wranglers to held paint the walls. Once that was done, everyone went out for dinner at a local diner, letting the stench of fresh paint air out. 2 weeks of relentless reworking went by, the crew made everything a lot faster; the house was homely, cozy, inviting. A bit of a contrast to the two city people you two were, but all the hard work made it all the more impressive. All your old stuff was shifted in, the crew helping you move all the heavy furniture, then left you two to do your own thing. Once everything was furnished, you both fell asleep on your shared bed upstairs, holding each other close.
After a day of rest, you both spent from sunrise to sunset out on the farm. Javi drove you to the farmer’s market, finding people who sold nearly mature crops with the purpose of repotting. You both bought 3 tomato plants - one in each colour: purple, red and yellow - 2 cucumbers, some Napa cabbage, romaine lettuce, arugula, some raspberry and blueberry shrubs. Once back the sun was high, you both slathered some sunscreen on and spent hours outside, repotting everything into the fertile southwestern soil.
The Tornado Wranglers came over for housewarming, bearing gifts; Kate bought you a pot of flowers, with her own recipe for a fertilizer which wasn’t damaging. Tyler brought a handmade sign saying ‘Not our first farmhouse!’ with the ‘Not’ crossed out in red paint. You accepted it with a laugh, and Javi just rolled his eyes playfully. Boone bought you both a vintage polaroid camera, and you had the idea of taking a photo of everyone who visited this house, and sticking it on the wall near the entrance, as a cute little housewarming idea. Lily brought some food, her famous enchiladas. Dani bought you two a weighted blanket and a toolbox, knowing how handy that can get. Dexter bought you two some encyclopedias and books you two would definitely enjoy. Everyone shared laughs and jokes and memories over dinner, and you both realized how this farmhouse really changed your lives.
You both started living a new life together, which contrasted everything before.
You always had a knack for baking and cooking, but only did so occasionally, because you could always buy bread from the supermarket, and you were busy. Now that you had joined Storm Par (once you cornered Javi and Scott into finding ethical investors) you both worked from home, giving you a lot of time for each other, and equally important, yourselves. Now, not a weekend went by when you went on a baking spree, pulling in Javi to help you out leading to flour fights, stolen chaste kisses where he’d lift you onto the counter, and everything in between. You baked sourdough, focaccia, dinner rolls, peanut butter cookies, muffins with fresh blueberries from the yard.
Javi rarely ate breakfast, mostly because he was too lazy or never had the will to eat anything shitty anyways, so every morning he’d be blessed with a platter of fresh herbed butter on sourdough toast, free range eggs from some chickens you both bought, and crispy organic bacon. Now, he claims breakfast is his second favourite meal, and when you ask what comes first, he just gives you a knowing look, which ends up with him getting flicked on the forehead.
All in all, your lives had changed for the better, but it was only about to get even better.
As you both drove back from the farmer’s market one evening, you saw a little curled up black and white creature on the side of the road
“Hey, baby, look..” you pointed over, and his eyes followed yours.
“Is that-” he slammed the breaks, rushing out of the car, you following behind.
It was a baby cow, or a miniature one, and its leg had a horrible gash on it.
“Its owners probably ditched her, pool gal…” He said softly, stroking the calf’s head when he found no ear tag on her.
You and Javi shared a look, and a silent communication went between you two. You needed to help her out.
You rushed over to your trunk, pouring out some milk and giving her some sustenance in the hopes of earning her trust. After carefully lifting her, making sure she didn’t thrash around, Javi put her in the backseat after you put a blanket down. You sat with her, the animals’ head resting in your lap. You drove a little way out of town for a vet, and after a quick checkup, you were given some ointment, and since the calf was abandoned, you both decided to keep it.
“Come on, Nancy” Javi said soothingly, carrying calf back into the car.
“Nancy?” you chuckled “We’re naming her already?”
“Yeah” Javi said with a chuckle “I like Nancy” he smiled, petting the calf’s head
“So do I” You said after a moment of thought. “Let’s get going”
Once everyone was back home, you brought out a wheelbarrow, and Javi put Nancy in there, the both of you gently bringing her to the barn. Once she was settled on a pile of hay, Javi gently tied her neck to a pole, making sure it wasn’t cutting anything off. You brought a bottle of milk with you, feeding her as her big black eyes got drowsier.
“Can I sleep here with her?” Javi asked you with concern.
“In the barn?” you laughed “Seriously?”
“I’m dead serious, (name)” Javi said, a look of determination you couldn’t fight.
“Alright, let me get the limoncello candle” you said in fake annoyance. Javi smiled, and called out.
“Love you, baby!”
Once you came back with the lit limoncello candle to ward off any bugs, setting it in the corner, you brought some sleeping bags and a bottle of water and milk, for you two and Nancy.
“I’m sleeping here with you” You said, handing him a sleeping bag.
“You don’t have to..” Javi said softly, never taking his eyes off Nancy as he stoked her head, tracing the blotches of black on her cream fur.
“I want to” you reassured, settling into the sleeping bag. “G’night, Javi” you murmured after giving him a sweet peck on the lips.
“Love you” he said, watching you over his shoulder as you settled in for the night.
“Love you too” you yawned “You know, if you changed your mind-”
“No” He interrupted you stubbornly “I’m staying here with Nancy” He reinforced.
“Whatever you say, baby” you chuckled, closing your own droopy eyes. “Make sure to actually catch some sleep”
“Yeah, I will. I promise” He nodded. “Goodnight, (name), I love you”
“Love you too, Jalapeño” you chuckled “Goodnight”
Javi chuckled at the nickname you loved using, and watched as you fell asleep. He looked over at a now asleep Nancy and smiled. He was so happy he bought this little home with you. He looked over at you again, then crawled over, unzipping the sleeping bag.
“Javier….” you whined “I was falling asleep!”
“Hold on just a second, baby..” He unzipped the sleeping bag, detached the zippers on his own one, and attached the two bags together and crawled inside, zipping it back up.
“Now we can cuddle!” he grinned, and you shook your head with a chuckle, burying your head in his chest and wrapping your arms around his torso.
“Okay, now really goodnight.” you murmured with mock annoyance.
“Yeah, really” He chuckled, nodding. “Goodnight, love”.
And with that, you both fell asleep in the barn, in each other’s arms, alongside your new companion. Javi dreamt of your lives progressing in this little farmhouse, filling it up with kids, maybe a German Shepherd… ironically, the house did have a white picket fence too, which made everything all the more cliche. But he didn’t care how much of a sap he was around you - since you seemed to love it anyway. Your lives had gotten so much.. lovelier.
If anything, you both found more love here, in Oklahoma.

Some of the world’s largest investment banks, pension funds and insurers, including Manulife Financial Corp.’s John Hancock unit, TIAA and UBS, have been depleting California’s groundwater to grow high-value nuts, leaving less drinking water for the surrounding communities, according to a Bloomberg Green investigation. Wall Street has come to Woodville, wringing it dry. Since 2010, six major investors have quadrupled their farmland under management in California, to almost 120,000 acres in all, equivalent to a third of all the cropland in Connecticut.
[...]
This rush for water is an outgrowth of a decades-long bet on farmland by investors who see food cultivation as an asset class virtually assured of appreciating in a warming, more populous world. Globally, large investors and agribusinesses have snapped up about 163 million acres of farmland in more than 100 countries in the past 20 years. The land grab has given rise to a grab of an even scarcer global commodity: water. In a bid to ensure thriving investment portfolios, some of the world’s largest financial entities have amassed control over lakes, rivers and underground aquifers in places from California to Africa, Australia to South America, giving them outsize roles in managing an endangered resource that’s the basis of life on Earth. The trend has contributed to shifting hydrological patterns that stand to permanently disrupt communities’ access to fresh water. Local populations are paying the price in drained wells, high water bills and contaminated water supplies.
[...]
In the past decade, parts of the San Joaquin Valley have dropped as much as a foot per year, according to the US Geological Survey. Subsidence, as the sinking is called, has damaged bridges, canals and other infrastructure that will cost billions of dollars to fix, the state says. The aquifers themselves are irreparable. Many groundwater basins, when drained, never recover their former storage capacity, hydrologists have found. “Groundwater in California has been treated as an extractive resource—you pump and hope for the best,” says Graham Fogg, an emeritus professor of hydrology at the University of California at Davis. “Capitalism is driving this. Investors don’t care, because in 10 years they can make all the money they want and leave.”

tell me about a basin character’s favorite childhood story/game/hobby
hi nyan i'm here to answer these questions now that im not carsick LMAO
out of everyone in the cast, i definitely feel like juno got into the most hobbies as a kid. he never stuck to anything but it makes him a fountain of knowledge that people are always kind of astounded by when they stay at the hotel.
his big thing though, and i mean, really big, is collecting comic books. it's his number one.
the hotel-jail actually started as a clubhouse/storage unit type deal where juno could keep the books he collected somewhere his parents didn't have to worry about it, and for a while the upper floors were practically wall-to-wall with any comic you could think of. i mean, if you're primarily thinking about cowboy comics. he barters and scours and ponies up for anything he can find, especially pre-collapse comics.
he was very proud of his collection until a snowstorm took out one of the walls on the front of the building and ruined a couple shelves leaning against it. as much as he loved having so many books he decided to start trading + donating them to people who would take care of them on smaller, more manageable shelves.

25 July 2024
Tumblr media
The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will see competitors parade on boats along the River Seine through central Paris on Friday.
An unprecedented security operation is in place, with organisers also facing challenges over the cleanliness of the Seine, costs and the environmental impact of the Games.
When are the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games?
The summer Olympics run from 26 July to 11 August, with 10,500 athletes competing in 329 events.
The Paralympics take place from 28 August to 8 September, featuring 4,400 athletes in 549 events.
There will be 206 countries represented at the Olympics, and 184 at the Paralympics.
Where will Olympic and Paralympic events take place?
The main athletics events will be at the Stade de France, on the northern outskirts of Paris.
There are also Olympic and Paralympic venues in the city centre.
The Pont d'Iena, for example, is hosting cycling events, while beach volleyball is at the Eiffel Tower and the marathon starts at the Hotel de Ville and ends at Les Invalides.
Tumblr media
Is the Seine clean enough for swimming?
Open water swimming and triathlon events are due to take place in the Seine, more than 100 years after swimming in the river was banned.
Tests done in mid-June showed that levels of E. coli in the water were 10 times the acceptable level.
However, Games organisers hope July sunshine and measures like a rainwater storage basin will make it clean enough.
Ahead of the Games, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo took a dip to try to prove the river was safe.
Tumblr media
How are France's security forces preparing for the Games?
The Games will be protected by the largest peacetime deployment of security forces in French history
Up to 75,000 police, soldiers and hired guards will be on patrol in Paris at any one time to guard venues and events.
The use of the Seine for the opening ceremony, with crowds watching the parade from the banks, is a first for the modern Olympics.
Tumblr media
The original plan was to give free tickets to 600,000 members of the public to watch from the river's banks.
However, the government was worried about potential threats such as a drone attack, and spectator numbers were scaled back to 326,000.
More than 220,000 of those will be invited guests and 104,000 will be members of the public who have bought tickets.
Some 44,000 barriers have been erected, with QR codes for residents and others seeking access to the river Seine and its islands.
Many of the barriers will be removed after the opening ceremony.
Intelligence services uncovered two plots against the country by suspected Islamic militants in early 2024.
In May, a man was detained on suspicion of planning an attack on the torch relay in Bordeaux, and another man was arrested in southern France over a plan to attack an Olympic football venue.
How much are the Games costing?
The cost of this year's Games is estimated to be about 9bn euros (£7.6bn), less than any of the previous four Games — in Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, London, and Beijing.
Much of the funding is coming from private companies, as well as sales of tickets and broadcasting rights.
The government's official auditors have said it may have to pay between 3bn and 5bn euros (£2.5bn and £4.2bn) for costs such as policing.
Are the Games environmentally friendly?
The organising committee of Paris 2024 has promised to make it the greenest Games in Olympic history, with half the carbon footprint of London 2012 and Rio 2016.
The Games will be held in the same city where, in 2015, world leaders agreed to try to prevent global temperatures rising by more than 1.5C.
About 95% of the Olympic and Paralympic sites are either existing structures or temporary ones.
The organisers say they are using as much recycled material as they can — including recycled cardboard beds for athletes — and trying to minimise carbon emissions.
However, it has been reported that thousands of air-conditioning units have been ordered for Olympic Village rooms by some national teams.
Are the Games pushing up prices in Paris?
Millions of visitors are expected in Paris during the Games, with ticket holders expected to spend an estimated 2.6bn euros (£2.2bn).
Hoteliers in Paris pushed up their rates, in many cases doubling them or more, in anticipation of a big rise in demand.
But there have been reports that many hotels have had unexpectedly low sales.
Bus and metro fares are also doubling in the capital during the Games.
In January, the Louvre art gallery put up its entrance fees by almost 30%.

Excerpt from this story from Inside Climate News:
Eight thousand years.
That’s roughly how long it takes for snowmelt from Mount Charleston, north of Las Vegas, to reach the aquifer in the Amargosa Basin and Death Valley—the hottest and driest corner of the United States. The temperatures are among the hottest on Earth, with Death Valley potentially setting a world record of over 130 degrees Fahrenheit this summer. Rain is scarce, just a few inches a year in the basin. Its namesake river largely runs dry on the surface, the water hidden underground. The only sign of life across much of the valley adjacent to Death Valley National Park is the sea of creosote bushes, but islands of mesquite and cottonwood trees hide pools of water bluer than the sky above.
And despite the harsh conditions, those scattered springs, streams and seeps have made this place—Ash Meadows—one of the most biodiverse places in the world. Often called the “Galapagos of the Mojave,” at least 26 endemic species here are found nowhere else, including the rarest fish in the world, the Devil’s Hole pupfish, which lives in a water-filled cavern where the temperature exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Many species here have long teetered on the brink of extinction. Human activity in the later half of the 20th century nearly dried up the water supply vital to the area’s plants and animals until the Endangered Species Act, a Supreme Court decision and conservationists saved Ash Meadows by limiting groundwater pumping by local ranchers to maintain water levels critical to the endangered pupfish, eventually designating Ash Meadows as a wildlife refuge in the 1980s.
That turned the pupfish into a hated pest for many area residents, as protecting it and other wildlife stopped development and economic opportunities faded away. But this past year, a new threat emerging just outside Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge transformed the fish from a villain to a hero.
Pickets across the valley mark mining claims to explore for lithium, the mineral critical to batteries for electricity vehicles and storage of the energy from wind and solar projects. Now, a broad coalition of residents, environmentalists, tribes and local leaders are counting on the Endangered Species Act, the refuge and the pupfish to save them from a proposed mine that they fear will further deplete their scarce water resources, threatening the life that has found a way to thrive in the hottest place in the world.
“We want to save Ash Meadows, but Ash Meadows is going save us,” said Carolyn Allen, chair of the Amargosa Valley Town Board, who is helping lead the fight against proposed mining activity.
Water has always been a priority, she said. Already, the aquifer is seeing too much groundwater pumping, putting the endangered species and community here at risk of extinction. Residents’ wells are running dry, spitting out nothing but sand, and a fix would cost tens of thousands of dollars.
“It’s the desert,” she said. “Water is the lifeblood of everything.”
Exploratory Drilling and Endangered Species
No more than 1,500 feet away from the refuge’s northernmost spring, where on a hot summer day, schools of the colorful endangered Ash Meadows Amargosa pupfish and Ash Meadows Amargosa speckled dace swam, is a playa with a butte filled with lithium that’s attracted the attention of Rover Critical Minerals. The exploratory mining company is looking to drill in the area to research the potential for a mine here. But a study commissioned by the Nature Conservancy—which led the push in the ‘70s and ‘80s to create the refuge by buying up the land around Ash Meadows and transferring it to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service—found a mine in the area would cause the aquifer to drop 50 feet at the site of the dig, and between two and 30 feet throughout the entire refuge.
Rover was supposed to begin its exploratory drilling last summer, but the Bureau of Land Management, which controls roughly 95 percent of the land in the Amargosa Valley, approved the work without conducting an environmental review, leading the Amargosa Conservancy and Center for Biological Diversity to sue. The BLM pulled its approval of the project and began the review. But in May, locals awoke to claims staked right outside their homes. Rover also proposed exploring the mining potential farther from the refuge but closer to the town and Death Valley National Park.
The project is the latest in a series of environmental battles between mines seeking to dig minerals deemed critical for the renewable energy transition and communities and environmentalists opposing the projects due to their impacts on natural and cultural resources. But unlike many of those disputes, which typically pit mining companies, federal agencies and some local leaders against environmentalists and tribes, the Ash Meadows project has nearly zero local support.

Name: Yash 'V' Vala
Age: 23
Gender + Pronouns: Man, he/him
Occupation: Courier and runner, both legally and less so. Largely operating in the southern parts of NC, but officially covers the whole city. If something small and physical needs to be somewhere safe and fast and undetected? He's a pretty good option.
Cyberware: Sandevistan, gills, grip feet, reinforced tendons, smuggling compartments in his legs. (Gills provide up to 4 hours of time underwater without resurfacing, given where he got them, they include a filter to help - but not eliminate - the trouble from unclean or dangerous waters. Grip feet basically makes feet prehensile and adds an extra grip surface to the bottom. The storage space used for smuggling is just small compartments, 2 x 6 inches, one in each thigh.)
Long form backstory under the cut: It's long yall, I went a bit ott with it.
His mom was from the Raven and Rats nomadic group when her family arrived in London. Settling their narrowboats in what would’ve been around Limehouse - since the flooding caused by the Thames Barrier bombing, there were a lot of new routes and waterways for the nomads.
After the fall of the thames barrier, Equinox more or less left that area of east london to rot. Seeing it as too much effort for what they’d get back. So for decades there was rampant crime in an almost entirely ungoverned and abandoned city. Officially, no one there existed. No one lived there. Despite the crowded streets of floating walkways, and salvaged tops of flooded old brick buildings turned into rare dry outcroppings, and houseboats, narrowboats, floating shacks made of salvage, littered the entire place. It was alive. Always was. Just. Not according to the government.
In the mid 2050s, there was another push to reclaim and control the area. As it grew, moving into the flooded thames, encroaching more into the highly militarized City and Westminster, there were more clashes between BCF - British Combined Forces - and citizens, as well as criminal groups that used the growing slums and waterways to their benefit.
Multiple corporations, especially those with headquarters in the city, were pushing for the government to take action and start up a new Urban Development Committee after the past ones failed, or abandoned, the area, to at least get the border pushed back.
ETB - English Tourist Board - wanted to clean up the city to make it more appealing again, especially with R&R and other trouble making groups being able to hide more easily in the sprawling river. IMA - Imperial Metropolitan Agriculture - wanted to use the large flooded space to build artificial floating island farms, to make the most out of the potential, as more and more of the Good British Soil (TM) was being worked to death and lost to city expansion. If they wanted to keep telling people to BUY BRITISH (TM) they’d need more space.
It was easy to hide the initial clashes and push back, these weren’t residents, there was no proof they were even UK citizens, so it was easy to sell it as the typical xenophobic fearmongering that kept so many in check. Only the east end wasn’t going down easy, and the BCF found themselves against a strangely, and worryingly, united force of nomadic groups who needed the river, criminal groups that thrived in the ungoverned corners, and even militia groups from a bit further east, as the thames basins flooding was felt all the way along, with many areas of South Essex not caring a shit about what was happening in Colchester and the north, but connecting - as they always did - with east london. A shared river, a shared blood, a shared history. So it was easy to redirect from action in East Anglia to a new front.
Yash’s family were not involved. Like many civilians, they were just caught in between. He wasn’t even born yet when his father was killed. Shot by BCF working as private security on behalf of EBT to scout and find historic areas that could be salvaged of worth or even turned into tourist destinations - the top of greenwich hill, the observatory itself, being a great place to start trying to reclaim for tourism, from the destruction it has seen after decades of apparent ‘misuse’ as a crowded indoor market, with the rare areas of dry actual earth and land around it turned into lush community garden. All fiercely protected by a tight community, quickly labelled as a ‘gang’ by the government. His father worked there, as a mechanic, helping people repair their boats and homewares. When the EBT scouts tried to clear people out, they were harassing people who worked there, civilians of all kinds, including the elderly and children. They moved too slow, they didn’t listen or respond as wanted, to screamed orders and threats.
His dad stepped in to argue with them, unarmed, untrained, but angry, they can’t treat people like that, and he got shot for his trouble. He was considered a hero to many of them, and his death was a spark for that mislabelled gang to maybe take the label more seriously. If they were going to treat them like criminals, they’ll defend themselves like criminals. When EBT returned to take the royal observatory by force, they were fought back. It was bloody and violent, and the locals lost a lot more people, but they won. There is a mural of those lost still in the observatory, touched up, and sometimes added to, over the decades since. His dad is front and center.
Both his older brothers knew their father very well, being 13 and 9 at the time he was killed. They both deified him, and the fight he set off, and went whole-hog anti-government and anti-corp. They’re, essentially, Rockerboys. (I just can’t remember if Rockerboy is only for that specific genre, or can be applied to any and all anti-authoritarian musicians in the cyberpunk verse? If it’s only the genre, then it doesn’t fit.). They were founding members of the Foundlings. A community gang made up of kids around their age who saw what was done to try and erase the east end, and are going to guerilla warfare street tactics the shit out of things to protect their home. The name coming from the pure numbers who were orphaned and alone after what became seen as a war with the corporations and BCF along the river.
Yash always tried to keep up with his brothers, but they wouldn’t let him, he was too young, he didn’t understand fully why they did what they did. He was raised with a hatred and distrust of corps and government, and a fierce personal anger for them taking a father he never got to know from him, but he didn’t see the level of violence that the war was. He wasn’t involved. There were still clashes, but it wasn’t the same. The metal wars were in the news, sure, but they weren’t theirs to care about. They had enough trouble on their front door step.
He got his job as a courier initially through the Mudlarks - A more recent, largely non-violent, smuggling group that operates along the river - not knowing that his brothers put some pressure in to stop him being allowed into the more criminal aspects, even with that, he eventually started pushing to get involved in running dead drops and collections along the river during low tide.
It was the mudlarks that landed him in NC. A london based gin maker - an illegal business without licensing - needed to get some out to NC because an NC based celebrity was throwing a party, and was requesting it. Deep pockets and an affinity since they’d done a world tour and tried some in London.
It was his job to see it got there safely. They’d have someone meeting the cargo at the other end, but he had to accompany it on the orbital transit. When he gets into NCX, he is indeed met, but by NCPD and orbital corp customs. He managed to duck them, but it wasn’t like he could walk back into NCX and try to leave, although NCPD seemed to drop the grudge quickly, he knew Orbital Corp still had him on the no-fly list. On the plus side, he did get a pretty decent pay day when he delivered the order to Empathy, no middle man cut for people in NC. He still transferred what was owed to the mudlarks back to them, but kept the rest.
They told him to lie low, and even gave him some contacts, largely within Pacifica, Heywood, and the City Center. Pacifica felt the most like home, so he set up shop, got in good with the right fixers, spent some time learning the fastest ways around, and built a good reputation from there.
'V' was actually the symbol his brothers used as a tag, the name they released music under, and they'd always talk a big game about how it was for the east ends victory over the BCF, and the peace they're fighting for etc. etc. but Yash knows damn well that last bit is just a line they thought up later. Typical younger brother, the second he got the chance, he took it. Decided V was his thing now. They couldn't stop him all this way from home after all.
He meets Jackie in the canonical Streetkid way, just without the Heywood local vibes.

Another FPSO put into production off Brazil
A second of two floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels that are part of Petrobras’ revitalisation project in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil has started production.
Tumblr media
The FPSO Anita Garibaldi MV33 arrived in Brazil in January 2023, where its final commissioning was expected to proceed in a shipyard in the state of Espírito Santo. The vessel left the DSIC Marine Yard shipyard in the city of Dalian, China, and embarked on its journey to Brazil on 6 October 2022. The FPSO was built by MODEC.
According to Petrobras, the FPSO Anita Garibaldi was put into production on 16 August 2023, as the second unit since May 2023, which will operate in the post-salt and pre-salt of the Marlim and Voador fields. The first of two FPSOs that are part of this project, which came online in May 2023, was the FPSO Anna Nery.
These two FPSOs are planned to be connected to 75 wells to extend the production from the fields’ deposits until 2048. The two FPSOs have a joint production capacity of up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and a processing capacity of up to 11 million m³ of gas. The vessels will replace nine platforms that operated in the Campos Basin: P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37, and P-47, which will be decommissioned.
Jean Paul Prates, CEO of Petrobras, commented: “The Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery platforms, which also started operating in 2023, will be key to increasing the longevity of the Campos Basin and expanding its production. In parallel, they are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combining efficiency and decarbonisation.”

Outfitting your RV kitchen can be a daunting task, with all the gadgets and accessories available to choose from, so it’s important to do some research before you start shopping. There are plenty of benefits that come with upgrading your RV kitchen gadgets and accessories. Not only will these upgrades make your life easier when cooking on the road, but they also add a touch of style and sophistication to your living space. Upgrading your RV kitchen gadgets and accessories can help organize everything from countertops to cabinets, as well as increase storage capacity for food items or cookware. In addition, many of the latest designs feature practical features such as USB charging ports or pull-out bins for waste management. With so many options available in 2023, there’s sure to be something perfect for every camper out there! The Latest Designs One of the most innovative designs for RV kitchens in 2023 is a wall-mount prep table. This space-saving solution allows you to easily store and access your kitchen items without wasting valuable countertop space. The table can be quickly mounted onto any wall and then folded away when not in use. It’s perfect for those who need extra work surfaces or storage options but don’t have room to spare on their countertops! Another great option for upgrading your RV kitchen is a high-tech refrigerator insert. These inserts come equipped with plenty of features such as adjustable shelves, temperature control settings, and even built-in USB ports so you can charge your devices while cooking meals! Additionally, some models are designed to fit into very small spaces–which makes them ideal for RVs with limited cabinet storage capacity. Finally, an expandable sink system provides much-needed additional storage and workspace in smaller RVs where there isn't enough room for everything else necessary in a fully stocked kitchen setup. With these systems you get two sinks–one large basin that expands outward from beneath the counter space when needed–so you always have enough space for washing dishes or prepping food no matter how cramped things may be inside your vehicle! Functional Appliances & Fixtures Smart ovens are an excellent addition to any RV kitchen, as they provide a range of functions that can help you save time and energy while cooking. These ovens typically come with features like convection baking, steam cleaning, and a temperature probe for optimal results every time! Plus, many models have built-in Wi-Fi connectivity so you can control them remotely from your smartphone or tablet. Two-in-one dishwashers/dryers are another great options when it comes to outfitting your mobile kitchen. Not only do these appliances take up less space than traditional separate units, but they also eliminate the need for extra plumbing connections–making installation much simpler! They’re perfect for those who want to keep their dishes sparkly clean without having to constantly transport them back and forth between sink and countertop. Finally, pull-out waste bin systems provide much-needed storage capability while keeping trash neatly tucked away until disposal day arrives! This type of system usually consists of two bins; one larger container placed underneath the countertop surface along with a smaller upper bin designed specifically for sorting recyclable materials or composting scraps. Both containers slide out together making emptying quick and painless–while still leaving plenty of room inside cabinets for other items such as cookware or ingredients! Space-Saving Solutions One excellent space-saving solution for RV kitchens is sliding cookware organizers. These organizers are installed directly into any existing cabinet and provide a convenient way to store pots, pans, lids, and other kitchen essentials within easy reach. An added bonus of this design is that it also helps keep items organized, so you can quickly locate what you need while cooking. Another great option for saving space in your RV kitchen is an RV pot and pan rack. This compact system hangs above the countertop or stovetop and provides a safe place to store essential cookware without wasting valuable storage space inside cabinets or drawers. The clever design of these racks allows them to be easily folded away when not in use–making them perfect for those with limited floor area! Magnetic spice racks are another invaluable addition to any camper’s kitchen setup as they can instantly add much-needed storage capacity without cluttering up counter space. These sleek designs feature individual compartments which allow spices to be neatly stored on the refrigerator door–or wherever else you choose! They’re a great choice for anyone who loves experimenting with unique flavours during meal times but doesn’t want their ingredients taking over half of the cupboard real estate! Finally, mini microwaves provide an ideal solution when it comes to preparing quick meals while on the go..... Read More... Read the full article

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Market worth $12.9 billion in 2030
The report "Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Market by Service (Capture, Transportation, Utilization, Storage), Technology (Chemical Looping, Solvents & Sorbent, Membranes), End-Use Industry, and Region - Global Forecast to 2030", for carbon capture, utilization, and storage is expected to grow at an average CAGR of 24.0%, from USD 3.1 billion in 2023 to USD 12.9 billion in 2030. In order to minimize carbon emissions into the atmosphere, carbon capture, utilization, and storage techniques are primarily used in the oil and gas, power generation, and chemical and petrochemical sectors. Many countries all across the world have proposed deploying this technology to reduce carbon emissions and handle climate change. The market for carbon capture, utilization, and storage is being driven by government initiatives aimed at achieving net zero emissions.
Download pdf-https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/pdfdownloadNew.asp?id=151234843
Capture service segment comprise a major share of the carbon capture, utilization, and storage market, in terms of value and volume.
The first phase in the CCUS process is carbon capture, and it involves separating and extracting carbon from the effluent flue gas stream that originates from a variety of industrial sources, including power plants, petrochemical and chemical companies, iron and steel smelters, and others. Several methods are proposed to remove carbon from the flue gas effluent stream, including Direct Air Capture (DAC), Oxy-Fuel, Pre- and Post-Combustion, and Bio-Energy CCS (BECCS). Several companies use these technology all around the world to reduce their carbon footprint. Adoption of this technique appears to be more expensive since direct air capture significantly deviates from standard practices and removes carbon directly from the atmosphere rather than from industrial sources.
Chemical looping technology type to be the second dominating segment in the global carbon capture, utilization, and storage market in terms of value and volume
Chemical looping is a technique used in industries to trap CO2 during the thermal fuel conversion process. In order to create the nitrogen-free flue gas stream, which mostly consists of CO2, H2O, and reduced oxy-carbonates, a sequence of chemical processes are carried out. This extremely low chemical combination flue gas stream is subsequently sent to another operation, where carbon is removed from the residual effluent stream. This method is mostly utilized in the chemical and petrochemical, as well as oil and gas sectors, where the effluent stream's nitrogen content is considerably higher.
Oil & gas industry is the dominating end-use industry in the global carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage market in terms of value
The carbon capture, utilization, and storage market is dominated by the oil and gas sector. This can be attributed to the industry's high initial adoption rate, which is expected to continue during the forecast period, due to the fact it is one of the main sources of atmospheric carbon emissions. The CCUS technology is being used in a number of ongoing projects, including the Century Plant in the United States, the Shute Creek Gas Processing Plant in the United States, the Uthmaniyah Gas Plant in Saudi Arabia, and the Petrobras Santos Basin Plant in Brazil, to lower carbon emissions in their respective locations.
Sample Request- https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/requestsampleNew.asp?id=151234843
Asia Pacific to be the fastest-growing region in the carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage market during the forecast period
The CCUS market is expected to grow at the fastest pace in Asia Pacific. this is mostly because of the significant improvements in technological development that Australia and China have achieved. Businesses were initially hesitant to implement CCUS as it is a capital-intensive task. However, with recent developments in environmental policies and regulations, as well as the ability to combine CCUS with hydrogen generation, companies are now actively involved in the technology's development. Governments around the Asia-Pacific region constantly encouraging their industrial sector to actively engage in the joint endeavor to reduce climate change through the establishment of tax credit programs.
Some of the key players in the global carbon capture, utilization, and storage market are such as Royal Dutch Shell (Netherlands), Fluor Corporation (US), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Japan), Exxon Mobil Corporation (US), and Linde Plc (UK), JGC Holdings (Japan), Schlumberger Ltd (US), Aker Solutions (Norway), Honeywell International (US), Equinor ASA (Norway).

Top 10 Snagging Problems During Move-In/Move-Out
Not carefully assessing the property before renting or moving in is a common mistake made by most UAE property tenants, which can cause problems and high maintenance costs after they've settled in. After payment is received, it can be difficult to negotiate with the landlord or get them to make repairs for already-existing damage.
Similarly, if the property isn't returned to its original state after the tenant leaves, they may have problems. Tenants typically foot the bill when they make claims that the property was already harmed since they rarely get the documentation they need. Hiring a property inspection company to perform a complete check-up of your apartment or villa before to moving in or out will help you avoid these inconveniences and monetary losses.
What is a Move-In/Move-Out Inspection?
A move-in inspection occurs before the tenant takes possession of the apartment to assess its condition. The landlord then demands a security deposit to cover future damages. In comparison, a move-out inspection checks for any damages or discrepancies caused by the tenant. These inspections help avoid disputes between the landlord and tenant and determine if there will be deductions from the security deposit.
Top 10 Move-In/Move-Out Issues
Even diligent tenants can miss issues without a proper inspection. Here are some common move-in/move-out problems:
Damaged Walls and Floors: Peeling walls and cracked or stained floors are common issues that may not be evident initially.
Dampness, Leaks, and Flooding Hazards: Plumbing problems, such as leaky faucets, clogged drains, and faulty water heaters, can cause dampness and discomfort.
Electrical Issues: Faulty wiring, damaged light bulbs, and power switches pose serious risks like electrocution or fires.
Window and Door Lock Damages: Damaged locks, doors, and windows are often overlooked during initial inspections.
Smelly Drains and Sewers: Unpleasant odors from kitchen sinks and bathroom basins are common but easily missed.
Pest-Infested Cabinets and Cupboards: Cabinets and drawers may be infested with pests, spreading quickly throughout the house.
Uncleared Storage Areas: Basements or other storage areas often get left dirty and cluttered, affecting security deposit refunds.
A/C Maintenance: Neglected air conditioning units can have expensive issues like faulty compressors, unnoticed without inspection.
Tap Water Quality: While DEWA tap water is safe, dirty water tanks can lead to contamination, making regular cleaning essential.
Swimming Pool Issues: Villas and townhouses may have faulty pool heaters, chillers, or pumps, often unnoticed without inspection.
Why is Move-In/Move-Out Inspection Important?
Move-in/move-out inspections prevent disputes between tenants and landlords by documenting the property’s condition. They ensure tenants get the value of their money and help both parties agree on the security deposit and potential refunds.
