Who wants to hear the biggest bullshit I've ever experienced and how I narrowly avoided getting scammed out of thousands of dollars?

Buckle up, y'all!

If you've followed me for a bit, then you know I'm moving across the country to live with Alex this week, we're currently in Indiana on our way! However, yesterday my belongings were supposed to be picked up by the moving company. Well, no, they were supposed to be picked up Friday, that was the agreed pick up date but that day when I called they said that there was a two day window -- so they were supposed to arrive 2-4 but then they didn't even get there until almost 8 pm.

So, they were late and then they had the gall to tell me I had more items than they expected and that they hadn't allotted enough space based on my estimate, without even really looking at what I packed. I had told them exactly what I'm bringing and they'd underestimated the amount by 114 cubic feet (which is over $500 off). They said they could take what they could fit in the original estimate space, and anything else would have to stay, or I pay them an extra $1000. I said no, absolutely not, I don't have $1000. So, my sister, my step-dad, and Alex all went to bat for me over this while I'm having a panic attack in the passenger seat of my car. The customer service decided to condescend to not one but two of them by questioning their intelligence and asking if they know what an estimate is. Then, they said that I'd have to pay that day to get it moved, but I was never told I'd have to pay for it the day of pick-up. I said no, and to cancel it. Then the woman on the phone asked me if my dad could just pay it for me as if I'm not an entire adult.

Looking up the company afterwards, I found out that they do this often, and have plenty of complaints on BBB. I did do research beforehand, but if you look up their name "Allegiance Moving and Storage", what comes up is an entirely different company with great reviews, and I feel stupid for being fooled. They also have a tendency of charging people thousands before they will deliver, if they deliver it at all.

When I was setting up the service with them, they sent me agreements to read over and sign. Instead of being an attachment you could easily download and keep for your record, they were links that expired and can't be reached without contacting customer service. So, my stuff is in New York except for a couple bags of clothes and my laptop bag, I don't have a back up plan, and I'm probably not getting my deposit of almost $900 back.

WIP Update - 16 Aug 2023

A slightly-below average writing week.   I touched 5 fics (4 WIPs & 1 new work)  for a total of  1900 words.

On Ao3, I posted:

Chapter Three of Finding Something Fresh - Beta!Sub!Bucky and omega!Dom!Steve have their first (non-sexual) scene together.

Chapter One of Seduction and Abduction; Collusion and Retribution - a Stony Pirate AU with Captain!Stephen kidnapping Anthony as an exchange/ransom for his first mate, James.

Both - Both is Good - a domestic fluff WinterPepperony ficlet featuring an inquisitive Morgan Stark.

I have  20 semi-active WIPs  😬 with my  current  deadlines being the Tony Stark This or That, Hot Bucky Summer and Stony AUgust events, which all wrap at the end of August.  

See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Seek & Destroy Collab

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.  

Hot Bucky Summer [BBE_HBS]  (Ends Aug 30) 

Another @buckybarnesevents  event, this time with weekly smexy prompts.  My goal is to complete at least two fics/chapters per month for this challenge and have actually filled/will fill three of the 4 weeks for June and July so far.  

Week Eleven -  “Give me a color” + Green/Red/Yellow – Posted Chapter Three  of   Finding Something Fresh last Friday - with  Beta!Sub!Bucky   and omega!Dom!Steve working on pre-scene negotiations.  It crossed over with SVB Comforting Insecurity and came in at 1216 words.

Week Twelve - “Who’s My ___”+ Good Boy -   I think this will work well with Chapter 5 of Technicalities, which goes back to Steve POV. This would post 8/23 - and with only 237 words so far, I need to get a move on this!

Week Thirteen -  FREE WEEK - another previous prompt use - Week Nine’s “How do you want me?” + Tied Down  crossing over with ACB Alexander Pierce and CABB Licking Lips squares for Chapter Four of Finding Something Fresh. This chapter will post 8/25 and is drafted at 1116 words.

* G3 - Established Relationship - planning to fill this with Chapter 2 of   Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole   - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at  52 words.  I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix.  

* O3 - Pararescue Sam Wilson - Wrote a remix of  Falling For You from Sam’s POV as a crossover with @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt: [#FFF212 Gotta Go Fast]. Braking Their Fall came in at 607 words and will post to Ao3 before this event is over.

* O4 - AU: Domestic - filled this with Both - Both is Good. This crossed over with my WinterIron Pride Prompt Party Day 20: Both Are Good prompt - with Morgan asking her daddy if he loves Uncle Bucky like he does Mommy. It came in at 443 words and posted this morning.

The bright red digits of the clock shone across the small space. Bucky felt as though they were searing his eyeballs with the strength of a thousand suns, and at the same time mocking him.

12:37 am.

He closed his eyes and gently turned over, trying not to make too heavy a movement.

The heat of Sam’s body, now in front of him, tempted him to press closer, to seek warmth and comfort, but Bucky held back. Sam had had a busy week, a busy month in fact, and the last thing he wanted to do was disturb him. Instead Bucky settled for just watching over his boyfriend as he slept.

Sam’s back was to him. He was wearing a sleeveless tee, and Bucky’s eyes traced the lines of the strong muscles in Sam’s shoulders. The shoulders that physically carried the wing suit and metaphorically carried the weight of the world. He could see the defined triceps on one of Sam’s arms. His strong solid arms. Arms that could hold Bucky in a tender lover’s embrace. Bucky smiled to himself in the dark. Once Sam had had a point to prove and those arms had held him aloft, pinned to a wall as Sam…

No…supposed to be going to sleep.

He craned his neck and twisted slightly to look at the time.

12:42 am.

Fuck. Okay Meditation time.

He rolled onto his back, and placed his hands on his abdomen, fingers interlaced.

Breath in through the nose 1…2…3…4…5

Out through the mouth 1…2…3…4…5

Bucky tried to let his mind drift, not really focusing on any one thought or another, letting the images and feelings float through his mind without too much inspection. He was vaguely aware of his body relaxing, the tension starting to ebb away, and a spark of hope began to bloom….

SNORT!

Now Bucky was counting in his head for another reason because, as sure as day follows night, if he didn’t love Samuel Thomas Wilson with every fibre of his being, he would have smothered him with a pillow for making that noise. It had dragged him fully back to the surface again, and he was no closer to sleep now than when both of them had headed to bed at 11:30.

12:55 am.

Carefully he slid out of bed and made his way carefully to the kitchen. Hopefully, a cup of tea might help. 

With the steaming mug of chamomile in hand, Bucky walked through to the living room, flicking on the lamp and settling on the sofa. A smile played on his lips as he pulled the throw, one of Sam’s many purchases, off the back and draped it over his body. With the steaming mug in his left hand, he picked up his book from the coffee table and flipped it open at the book mark. Surely sitting and reading the Lord of the Rings would help him drift off?

The steady ‘tick-tick-tick’ of the mantel clock, one that had belonged to Paul and Darlene, provided some background noise as Bucky read and sipped his drink. When the mug was empty, he turned and looked up at the clock

01:23 am.

The book fell to his lap, and Bucky scrubbed his hand down his face. He was so tired. Why couldn’t he sleep? This clock was mocking him now. He made another drink and settled down to read more of his book. It was so frustrating. His eyes would close and his head would nod, so he’d put his book down, wriggle down under the throw, only for his brain to sharpen up again.

Sam looks so tired at the moment. Is he doing too much?

Sam woke, as he normally did, at 5.30am. Stretching out his limbs he turned over to find…a half empty bed. He shook his head to himself and, gently rising from the mattress, headed downstairs.

There he found, as expected, Bucky curled up on the sofa with the throw he claimed to hate so much pulled around him. On the coffee table was an empty mug, Bucky’s book, a notepad, and a battery.

The latter confused him momentarily, until his eyes darted up to his parent’s clock. The back was off and the compartment empty. Bucky had either got fed up with the noise, or the reminder of the time; it wouldn’t be the first time that that had happened.

His gaze returned to the notepad, and he could see that Bucky had written out a list.

It took him a moment to decipher the last scrawl.

Aww, hell no…….

This is the worst car dealership in New Jersey. Tricked an old man into overpaying $12,000.00 over list price yes, $12,000.00, not a typo. I asked the general Manager, Rocko, to show me, and add up all the extras I was charged within the contract that brought the car $12,000.00 over list price. I was told I would have to talk to the finance manager. I said that it was the finance manager who took advantage of me in the first place, so, please, I'd like to speak to someone else. With that, the General manager of Hyundai called me "a little sh8t." I kid you not. Right in front of other employees and customers, the General Manager called a costumer a "little sh8t." Not only that, when I first met the finance manager, he told me his name, but it turned out he lied. The name he gave me, and the name I was using during the horrible thieving deal was NOT his real name and I was never corrected. Why would he lead me to believe a fake name? Why? After the dealer prep charge, taxes, interest, the price should have been no more than $3000.00 over list. NOT $12,000.00. This would mean this car was still $9000.00 over list price. After fighting and arguing, the finance manager knowing he had taken advantage of an old man, he offered me $4000.00 to, as he put it "make this go away." Although that was a lie as well, because he said it would take 6 weeks to get the money and I would have to sign a statement at that moment, saying I would not complain to the Better Business Bureau or to corporate Hyundai. I told him, "Give me the money right now, and yes, this would go away." This he would not do. I have to post my reviews here on posts already posted because when I go to Hyundai website to write a review, MY ACCESS IS DENIED. Ok, I was stupid enough to sign without reading the contract, I accept that. Although, when that finance manager got up and left the office to check my credit, he took the contract with him. During that time, I could have read the contract. Don't you think any repeatable finance manager would have actually said to the costumer "Here, while I'm gone, read this contract before signing?" But no, it was a tactic I fell for and now karma will have to do it job. Since this has happened, I have gone to fakebook and other media outlets looking for reviews of Paramus Hyundai, and time and time again, the General Manager and the finance manager and many of the salesmen get very bad reviews. The one and only point is, go to another dealership. My complaints with BBB AND corporate are pending, and I will also contact the state tax folks because if that finance manager is using a fake name, he could be avoiding paying some taxes. 9-13-23...

Another busy week, but some good progress - I touched 4  fics (2 WIP & 2 new works)  for a total of  2089 words.

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.

Halloween Horror Bingo - [HHB_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

Just signed up for this event, hosted by @halloweenhorrorbingo. After picking three horror films, you get a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) with prompts based on those films.  Gonna see what I can squeeze in over this last week!  

* B1 - Dealing with Extreme Cold  - seems like a good match with my BBB Cold   and or SVB Last Resort  square along with Whumptober: Thermometer  & Fictober "It's not too late, let's go."

* B2 - Getting Blood Samples  -  this could squish into  the  Werewolf!Tony fic I’m working on, featuring  Howard Stark’s A+ parenting  (and found family).  Currently sitting at  741 words 

* B3 - Dealing with an Extraterrestrial   – I might whip up a drabble with the Avengers  interacting with Rocket and/or Groot.  

Fictober/Flufftober/Whumptober - [FFWtober_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

I’m lumping these three prompt challenges together as I plan on mixing and matching with a goal of using at least four prompts from each list by the end of the month for a total of 12 prompts.  I’m still  behind at only seven  used so far, but will try to get one or two more done before the end of the month!

* Fictober Day 12: "I'm not saying I didn't like it."  Posted  a short Chapter 2  for   Caught By the Rain and Blinded by the Lightning  last Thursday as a crossover with my  TSB Pairing: Tony/Thor square; it came in at  567 words.

* Whumptober Day 15: Makeshift Bandages | Suppressed Suffering  –  see HHB  There’s something under the bed  above. 

* Fictober Day 20:  “This better be good”  and  Flufftober Day 20:   Combined these prompts with my  TSB  Holiday Fic and  WIB   Pumpkin Oct Adoptable squares and the Flash Fiction Friday prompt  By Candlelight  and  wrote     Carving Out Time Together  -  a bit of  pre-slash Tony & Bucky spending time together  making jack-o-lanterns.   It came in at 870 words and I plan to post this to Ao3 on Friday.   

* Fictober Day 23:   "No, you won't understand, ever." Tweaked the prompt a bit and combined it with my  WIB Unreliable Narrator  and BBB Never the Fall that Kills You squares for  Cutting the Strings  - where Tony intervenes a bit to help recovering!Bucky get some breathing room from Steve.  It came in at  740 words and will post on  Ao3  sometime before the bingos finish.     

* Fictober Day 24:  [melting emoji]  - combine with  TSB  "Get back in bed!"  Tony has a fever and won’t listen to his partner. Maybe throw in a little Whumptober too?

* U3 - Fireplace -  Working on a 1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic set at a ski lodge where Tony’s being wooed by poetry and love letters that Bucky wrote to someone else.   Started poking at this as a crossover with a Love Letters prompt and it’s sitting at 129 words.

* C2 - Yelena Belova–   The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik,  (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is currently sitting at 1303 words (600-ish of which are mine).

* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple -  next chapter of   Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion.    Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.  

* K3 - Magic -  Aro!Bucky healing with a kiss idea?

* K4 - Accidental villany - the BBB Discord party resulted in a hilarious Mob AU communal story  (mobster!Bucky & clueless!Steve plus Clint&Natasha&Scott shenanigans)   that several of us did/are going to contribute to Rashomon-style.

BioHarmony Complex Plus Review

BioHarmony Complex Plus is a diet drop product for women. It’s an edible oil dietary supplement. It’s sold on the back of the idea stress is keeping you fat by hindering thyroid function sufficiently to slow your metabolism. It has some pretty bold marketing claims. The product is sold under the Science Natural Supplements brand name. However, it’s marketed via separate sales page housed on the same domain as the company website. It does not appear anywhere on the main site. If you think that’s unusual, I do too and the company appears to be marketing other products this way as well including a natural sleep aid called NutriSleep and a turmeric product aimed at Keto Dieters. The BioHarmony Complex Plus website is very lengthy. The biggest part of it concerns a woman named Scarlett who used the diet drops and lost 47 pounds.

The BioHarmony Complex Plus Marketing Story

According to the story, Scarlett went to a high-school reunion only to discover she’d become so fat her former best friend, Sophie, no longer recognized her. To make matters worse, Sophie had managed to retain the same slim and sexy figure she’d had at school. The experience was so humiliating Scarlett took steps to lose weight. She got nowhere fast. In desperation, Scarlett rang Sophie and asked for her secret.  It wasn’t diet and exercise. Sophie was apparently using a product that was only available via special clinics. This wonder-drop was so good it made it possible to keep slim without counting calories or putting in any hard work. The wonder drops did the trick for Scarlett too. They changed her life. She was so happy she wanted to help other women to lose weight as welll. She contacted the doctor who created it. Strangely enough, he’d never thought of selling it outside his private clinic, but Scarlett convinced him. Now thousands of women are using it to “melt the fat away restore their slender body and make their friends green with envy”. Or so the story goes.

What is BioHarmony Complex Plus and How Does It Work?

The diet drops contain a blend of 10 plant extract chosen by Dr Zane Sterling. The formulation aims to prevent the stress hormone cortisol from interfering with thyroid function and slowing the metabolism. Cortisol belongs to a family of hormones known as glucocorticoids. Based on the finding of a Stanford study, Dr Sterling states glucocorticoids control the “switch” that produces fat cells. The use of the story is very clever. It allows the manufacturer to make some outrageous claims without actually making any direct claims at all. The sales page merely appears to be telling a story where Scarlett is the one stating what the drops can do. According to Scarlett, BioHarmony Complex Plus is an “incredible, unusual weight loss secret” that allows anyone to burn their fat with very little effort.

The BioHarmony Complex Plus sales story suggests the only reason women get fat is because of all the stress they face when they get older. When they are younger, their biggest stress is deciding which skirt to wear. Then come the family and kids and juggling work with family life. They have so much stress every day it’s no wonder they get fat. Now Dr Sterling has come up with the answer.

Manufacturer Credibility

Science Natural Supplements is based in Las Vegas. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website, the company has only been trading since 2017. Science Natural Supplements was founded by a former kettlebell gym owner from San Diego. His name is Cody Bramlett. He began the company after a quest to ease his father’s pain with inflammation caused by his being overweight. Cody’s research led him to turmeric. He began giving it to his father and changed his life in a matter of weeks. All of Cody’s early products were turmeric-based. He’s since gone on to add other types of natural supplement to his range. Overall, the company has a good online reputation, but many people complain about overly pushy attempts to encourage customers to buy extra products. In some cases, this pushiness has discouraged customers from buying. Instead of adding extra products they simply abandoned their cart.

How Do You Use BioHarmony Complex Plus?

As is normally the case with diet drops, you need to place them under the tongue. In this case, you do so every morning.

What are the Ingredients In BioHarmony Complex Plus?

The formulation contains 10 natural ingredients:

L-Ornithine

What Do the Ingredients Do?

Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola Rosea is an adaptogen herb. Research suggests the ingredient can reduce stress. Research also supports its use for fighting fatigue and improving concentration. However, the study participants got 576 mg of Rhodiola Rosea per day. BioHarmony Complex Plus may not provide that much.

African Mango

African mango extracts are believed to be good for supporting weight loss. There’s speculation this may be because the extracts improve leptin sensitivity. It’s a promising ingredient but further study is necessary.

L-Ornithine

A non-proteinogenic amino acid. Your body can make it but the form you get from supplements is synthesized in a lab. It’s often used for boosting athletic performance.

L-Carnitine

An amino acid that’s often favored by sports supplement manufacturers. L-Carnitine carries fatty acids to the cells. This allows it to boost energy. The ingredient may help with weight loss too. Some studies support its use in this way, others do not.

L-Arginine

Another amino acid. This one boosts NO (nitric oxide), which improves circulation. Boosting NO allows your muscles and organs to obtain a better supply of oxygen and nutrients. This is good for you in many ways. The most obvious value here is extra energy.

L-Glutamine

One more amino acid to add to the mix. L-Glutamine is in the formulation due to a study that shows it has helped non-dieting females to lose weight.

Beta-Alanine

Beta-Alanine is an amino acid too. Dr Sterling is using it here to support fat loss, boost serotonin, and act as an anti-aging compound.

Astragalus

A popular Chinese herb. Dr Sterling chose it because a study suggests it helps women recover from neurochemical impairments due to stress. I cannot find any detail of this study.

Niacin

Also called Vitamin B3, Niacin boosts energy and improves circulation.

Pygeum

A medicinal tree bark extract. It’s allegedly added here due to a study that shows it prevents oxidative stress and improves sleep by 19%. I found the study. It was conducted on men with prostate problems. There is no mention of oxidative stress. Nor did the ingredient directly improve sleep. It actually reduced nocturia by 19%.  All this means is taking pygeum may make you 19% less likely to wake because you need to go for a pee.

Are There Any Customer Reviews for BioHarmony Complex Plus?

I was unable to find any genuine customer reviews. However, some affiliates who are trying to promote the product are doing so via pages that masquerade as reviews.

Is There a Risk of Side Effects?

Some of the ingredients have the potential to cause side effects. High doses of niacin may cause flushing and itching of the skin along with a burning sensation.  Rhodiola Rosea might cause some women to feel drowsy, prevent them from sleeping, or cause dizziness and headaches. The formulation contains 10 ingredients. That’s quite a lot and the inclusion rates are not disclosed. That makes it hard to predict how they will interact. If you are seriously considering using this product, I suggest you talk to your doctor first and get some expert advice. If you are pregnant or nursing, I suggest you don’t use it at all and your doctor will undoubtedly tell you the same.

BioHarmony Complex Plus Review Conclusion

There are lots of reasons why women gain weight. The same can be said for men. However, be it due to hormonal imbalances, out of control appetite, or just greed; there is only one way to gain weight. You have to eat more calories per day than your body can burn. Losing weight is simply a case of reversing the process. You need to eat less calories than your body needs. There is evidence that shows a link between elevated cortisol levels and weight gain. That means there is a chance the drops may help some women to lose weight. However, a healthy diet will still be necessary. It doesn’t matter what weight management product you are using, if you eat too much food you are never going to get slim. This product is sold with the promise it will make losing weight as easy as flipping a switch. When I hear claims like that, the only thing I’m flipping is my finger. Will the formulation reduce stress? If it contains enough Rhodiola Rosea, it might. But does it? There is no way to know. Is it better than the alternatives women can choose? Let’s just say this one does not blow me away.There are many female fat burners on the market and I can think of more than one that has better credentials than BioHarmony Complex Plus.
