#bc character bias can never be something that a story has!!

loser troll has finally gotten around to plagiarizing me (his shit post vs my drabble that was clearly the 'insp' for it given that he literally stole lines and dialogue). keep in mind that my drabble was posted in may of last year, recently self reblogged, and then his blog which [checks archives] didn't exist until today.
anyway if you see a blog post with a soren, sarai, callum drabble featuring sarai teaching soren how to fight in the main tags it's plagiarized/stolen work, thank you

The autistic community in this fandom has repeatedly said that Aziraphale is extremely autistic coded. Maybe we should start listening. Let's go. *SIGHS*
Tumblr media
There's so much I could talk about the critiques I see over this mostly pretty harmless scene, but I'll try to focus on the ableism here:
Aziraphale's playfulness is called "roleplaying" and "dismissive of Crowley's feelings" here. And I must say, as an autistic person, I find it offensive bc this is an extremely autistic coded moment where Aziraphale was unmasking in front of the only person he allows himself to do so and that usually implies he was inviting Crowley to do the same, he was most likely aware of Crowley's anxiety there and making himself vulnerable to him by unmasking, inviting him into his space and vice-versa. (I think calling his special interest, magic, "horrible" is also anti-autistic bias btw)
We never see Aziraphale acting like this with any other character besides Crowley, with whom he does this repeatedly. It's not a new situation. Crowley knows this, and he is used to this kind of behaviour from Aziraphale. And he loves to complain about it btw, and Aziraphale indulges him on that. This is love. This is intimacy.
I know it isn't perfect, I know it lacks verbal communication, but this isn't abusive behaviour in the slightest. Better communication is something they both need to work on after 6k years of having to hide their feelings bc they were being persecuted and abused, the story is telling us this. We have a whole other season for that, the story isn't over.
Now, regarding the second paragraph, the plot made it painfully obvious that the clue was real, so Aziraphale was not going to Edinburgh for fun. He had to go, and Crowley knew it (he never even argued against it), bc of the mystery of Gabriel's situation thay could backfire on them in the future. Who knows what Heaven was doing to their angels (and what they could do to aziracrow!! That's why Crowley had an informant. Didn't Metatron prove this in the end, that the threat was real?). Sure, Aziraphale had fun, bc he was bonding with Crowley through the Bentley and he loves him, so that makes him happy, but that's it. We're allowed to make the most out of a bad situation, guys. It's also a way to deal with stress. Aziraphale and Crowley have different ways of dealing with stress, and both are valid, they're different people, it's normal that they react differently to a crisis.
This scene was a very married moment tbh, filled with comfort with you partner (enough to unmask), an old known and comfortable dance for the both of them, and even an invite to take a step forward in their relationship.
Food for thought: I've been wondering why the fandom likes to say Azi and Crowley are like a "married couple" but some ppl at the same time hate when they in fact act like one?
Tumblr media
And finally, again, this is such an autistic coded moment that I, an autistic person, had the exact same interpretation as Aziraphale. I had never noticed, until I read this take, that Crowley could've meant anything other than "you don't know how to drive" lol. Aziraphale was being himself here. His true confident unmasked self. Bc Crowley allows him that. Bc Crowley makes him feel like he can. He wasn't pretending or intentionally misinterpreting or manipulating anyone. Assuming the absolute worst of him bc he interpreted something in a literal way is anti-autistic bias. Assuming the worst of him bc he doesn't use the same code as you to communicate is ableism. Assuming his decision-making logic is invalid bc of the way he acts when unmasking is both.

So my favorite character in The Brothers Sun is Taiwan. Like yeah Taiwan has its own shows and movies but it just feels Different to see Taiwan in a big international/American show! It’s SO cool actually and so um here are some thoughts I had and things I Noticed about different Taiwan scenes and things in the show idk
Episode 1
the opening shot of Taipei tells us this is a Thursday- the top of 101 is green and is a different color every day of the week
that corkscrew-shaped apartment building we see Charles living in is kind of an urban legend here in Taipei. They say it’s the most expensive place to live in the city, that each apartment has its own swimming pool, and that there’s an elevator specifically to bring cars up to display in your living room. No idea if the interiors look like that for real though
I was gonna say it’s pretty crazy he has an American-style oven in Taipei bc nobody does but actually in that apartment… yeah he probably would
afaik there’s not a way to (“legally”/officially) stream any of those famous British baking shows here rip
I do wonder if they actually filmed the opening scene in the corkscrew building or if they just really pay attention to detail because the skyline seen out the window matches up to what it would really look like from that part of the city
the shoes, I mean we all know about shoes-off houses but yeah
豆漿. Soy milk. Yeah
They definitely eat Hi-chews in one of these scenes
Episode 2
It makes way more sense for the guys to have snuck out for shaved ice as kids than youtiao… I’m just saying… like would *I* do that yes but it’s usually just like. A thing you eat with soup or breakfast
Episode 3
“Are you sure you can handle-“ “the heat? I’m from Taiwan.” lmfao BITCH Taiwan has some of the blandest cuisine I’ve ever tasted (he does think it’s too spicy tho lol)
“Keelung. A fishing village just north of Taipei.” Okay like I can see how the older generation would call it that but it’s actually a whole ass city…
Episode 5
Not a Taiwan thing but the Maotai made me laugh. It’s like the Coca Cola of Chinese baijiu and imho it’s just as awful as every other brand
Episode 6
ok the episode that made me want to make this list
the Costco shit IS funny because vitamins, baby formula, that’s all the good stuff you want to bring back from abroad BUT actually we have Costco in Taiwan and can easily get a lot of that stuff? This concept imo would fit a lot better for China than Taiwan. It’s still very much a thing to load your suitcase up with baby formula on the way home to China, and there’s actually a huge smuggling business bringing it in through Hong Kong but I digress
Idk why I’m happy to hear Changhua and Douliu mentioned in an American TV show… Seriously, I don’t know. They’re kind of like nowhere places I’ve never even been. I just feel like everyone’s grandparents live there.
Even the way they film Mama Sun on the plane. Like the Mandarin music in the background with the announcement for Taoyuan airport… to me it feels specifically like a transpacific flight to Taiwan lolol but that’s definitely like a bias probably
Okay not to be SO nitpicky but so when she looks out the window on the plane to see Taipei 101 etc I’m not sure about that? The airport is actually in another city and I feel like I usually come in around and over the ocean or something?
But WOW the taxi scene my favorite scene it’s SO visceral and SO Taiwan… the street, the lights, the Cosmed/Mos Burger/7-Eleven, the street noises, like I can FEEL Taiwan through the screen and HER FACE taking it all in I WANT TO SOB
The temple, beautiful like this episode makes me believe Michelle Yeoh is Taiwanese lol
I appreciate the viscerality of the night market shots too but it seemed a bit empty
Okay so Mama Sun’s mom is super rich too based on where she lives which I guess it makes sense. But what I am curious about is the story about why they’re speaking Cantonese because Taiwan has a lot of languages but that’s not one of them like officially at all. I wonder if there’s a character backstory there or they just like. Didn’t want to bother teaching Michelle how to speak Minnan or something
The cemetery too is so fancy, I mean it fits but wow that’s expensive real estate
In the hospital scene, Taipei 101 is lit blue out the window, making it a Friday. Has everything in the show so far happened in only 8 days?
Episode 7
“Last night the Boxers made their move” 101 says it’s Tuesday for anyone keeping track
I LOST it at the Foodpanda driver assassin the first time I saw this… So Taiwan
Big fancy church in Taipei? I know they exist but I’ve never seen one in person (like 2%? of the country is Christian)
A mom bringing back tea as a souvenir from Taiwan? 100% real
Episode 8
RAW is a real restaurant in Taipei. It’s very fancy and very expensive and had I think two Michelin stars. I don’t know ANYONE who’s actually been there lol

-firstly. These readings have been and were always hypothetical in my opinion. ALWAYS. Everyone interprets the data differently. I remember getting into an argument where someone said he would or will propose and I said BULLSHIT bc of a pentacles card 🫠. Admittedly…Way too in my head to interpret it without bias on REGULAR readings for evans. Whoops. My bad. Yikes. Frankly I looked at some of those readings incorrectly. //
I remember a while ago you said that the tower moment would most likely be for the fandom not for Chris and that has stuck with me ever since. You most definitely hit the nail on the head with that one
That’s the one thing I can agree on maybe getting right. And to be fair, the switch flipped for me when another friend read about his FS last year. It was a different take than most - Something about how she/FS had an idealized version of who he was and even SHE had to change her perception a bit. The tower showed up in her reading, “what will she think about him” or something along those lines. So then I wondered aloud if it was always about the fans and how they perceived of “Chris evans” LLC. And the image was the tower. And seeing it over and over wasn’t about HIM changing.
Consider the stark contrast between who he is/appears to be, and how most people have been like 👀 about the whole thing. It’s jarring for those who have invested a lot. (Sounds dramatic but) has shaken some foundations.
I don’t always ascribe to the “he needed to be fixed and heal himself and THEN will be rewarded with her” schtick bc that’s not how things always work. If you KNOW him personally, you might be able to argue that- but as it stands currently, we can only quote Kneepads (People) re: how he “feels” according to a SOURCE 🫠 and say that “that is accurate.”
Someone used the word shambolic yesterday and it really represents my feelings on this whole nonsense. (Chaotic, disorganized, MISMANAGED). These dumb plays ….what some people would just say “ugh you’re blowing it out of proportion,” really just make it seem like some people sat around in a room and came up with ALL OF THE DUMB ideas on what to do to release this. And they can’t sell it because they’re not that good at faking story lines.
I’m not saying all of it is PR. The public side of it is ABSOLUTELY PR. The timing, the cardboard cutout nature of all of it. I’m just saying if they came up with the idea of “let’s walk thru Central Park” then it becomes a whole mess of a sprint and it’s awkward af. If they take a pic of them kissing it looks like he’s making out with her mouth-chin character. Which is weird. They can’t sell it bc they’re faking a side of it for the public. Not the whole thing. Just the public part. That’s why I said at one point, maybe it’s real and they bungled the shit out of it bc they are awkward.
I also got the vibe some of this shit was for spite, so whatever clever blogs have said he likes watching it all burn…. I think back to some public questions we’ve discussed “Is she going to the premiere?” NO. Then she goes and it’s a dumb circus. Make sure she’s spotted looking “hot.” Is he ever going to do BOSTON Con? NO, his anxiety is too bad. And then he books TWO this year. And so on. And so forth. LSA kept saying “STOP SAYING THIS, it’ll happen!!” 😂😂😂😂
So. I think we need to just be all Justin Bieber and never say never. All the people like “ohhh they won’t last” 😬🤷🏻‍♀️😂 suffice it to say….old dude is doing tf he wants.
YIPPIE. HOORAY.

cops violating laws in cop shows is such a fascinating thing to me bc it's like. so unintentional sometimes. like sure some of it is that shows that challenge status quos don't get funded and so writers do literally produce copaganda but i think that's only one element of it. the rest is just like.
ok you've got 40 minutes to tell a story. storylines can continue through seasons but the meat of the story has to be packaged in one monster-of-the-week style format for production. you have to establish your world, characters and tone within those 40 minutes for consistent and inconsistent viewers. so you pick easy universal signifiers and visual language. crime = bad. cops = against crime = good. but wait! you don't wanna come off as pro-establishment bc that's not sexy. so you have stickler police chiefs and bureaucrats for the cops to rebel against so they read as anti-establishment. and you've gotta make the criminals threatening and obviously bad, so the cops are just trying to stop murderers (and never poor people who stole baby formula) etc etc
it's such a weird overlap of like. bias and narrative shortcuts and packaging and Content Production and like. i bet there are 5 million people writing doctoral theses about this and i got nothing but like. man. it really makes you like. realize that you have to stop seeing propaganda as something organized and intentional bc some of the most effective propaganda is this stuff where it's like. hm well the cops are the protagonists so who's the antagonists? lawyers? sure ok.

Wait if Revali was in an idol group who else would be in it and what would their debut song be, plus theme?? Like would it be the rito like Teba Harth etc or would it be like a mix of people (like Teba and sidon and others etc etc) plus what would their name be just curious… or revs positions you know the drill
u know now that i think about it oomfie i think u were the one who was putting newjeans on my dashboard a couple weeks back i should have known u were a kpopper 🤣 also kpop idol positions are always the strangest thing to me so i had to do a little review LMAO
if you wanna be fr, revali wouldn't want to be in an idol group at all, he wanted to be a soloist. but the managers were like no you would do good in a group, debut in a group first and we'll talk about solo later if you're successful enough. so revali fucking hates all these other guys but he is a good asf actor and is so good at delivering fanservice y'all would have never thought he was praying on his bandmates' downfalls KDJFJKDFK i wouldn't have been surprised if it was actually revali tipping off dispatch to give the others scandals
revali is the main vocalist and dancer the maknae LMAO (transl: youngest) of the group RiTO which stands for "Rising To Own", which refers to the group's belief that if "the sky is limit", they must rise higher to break the limit and go beyond it in order to own their true selves. i think it would be funny if since the word is "rising", fans debate on whether to pronounce the acronym as "ree-to" or "rai-to" and even years after the group's debut, people are still fighting online about how to pronounce it. then you got some freaks who say each letter out loud or straight up skip over the "i" to say RTO. RiTO fans are called "ownwings" because they are the wings that allow the group to rise and break the limit, as well as being encouragement to the fans to use their own wings to fly up and achieve lofty dreams together with RiTO. was that kpop-y enough LMFAO i should be a kpop ceo fr fr
the other members of the group include members leader and main rapper teba, lead rapper lead dancer harth, lead vocalist and visual kass, and leader dancer sub vocalist mimo. ages from oldest to youngest goes as mimo, kass, teba-harth (same year teba is older), and then revali. kass is the face of the group, revali and teba switch between being centers a lot, and revali is their all-rounder. i mentioned having to review kpop positions bc shit like "main" vs "lead" always confuses me, so for my non-kpop mutuals, you can refer to this article for more in-depth explanations.
my instinct was to say that they do a "refreshing" concept ASTRO-style because the rito=birds=air=refreshing, but like... do you Really think teba, harth, revali, and mimo could do your standard run-of-the-mill kpop refreshing concept LMFAOKDJFDK
teba and harth's generally gruff and cold-shoulder personalities throw me off trying to come up with ideas for this, because imagining them as kpop idols is so fucking funny. these guys are the dads who will drop their kids off at the TWICE concert grumpy asf as if they're not going home blasting FEEL SPECIAL in the car like ✋😭 (they would never admit it out loud, but teba's bias is jihyo because he respects how long she was a trainee to achieve her dream and harth's is jeongyeon because he likes how her tomboyish charm sets her apart from the rest of the group).
so just because canonically 4/5 of the group are older dilf characters (yes i think mimo is a dilf), i would say their debut concept at the very least would be something that's dark/mature/sexy? i'm thinking they're gonna do something like a kingsman concept bc i feel like that fits their vibe. like iirc the movie 'kingsman' was super popular in south korea so maybe that's what makes them skyrocket in popularity. RiTO debuts with a fresh gentlemen-spy concept and the music video has a story that eventually becomes full-scale lore throughout the rest of their music.
i mentioned revali being a hating ass little bitch when he has to debut in a group but also consider him being like 16-17 while the other members are 18-21 already. these guys are older than him in an industry that is known to be extremely competitive, full of rivalries and harmful health habits that could crush revali if he's not quick or clever enough :( he's just a baby in this industry tbh. so — and stay with me here — i'm imagining teba being the leader and figuring out that revali is just constantly furious and irritated and seething because he wants to be a soloist and not in a group, so he dads revali a bit as his leader and tries to get to know him and get him to calm down. just revali and teba bonding 🥺 and revali eventually not being a hater anymore and slowly having more brotherly bonds with the other members. he becomes their little baby 🥹🤍 always mussing his hair up and giving him bear hugs and teasing him lightheartedly where revali scoffs and pushes them away, but inside he feels warm because he was an only child with parents who were always working.
imagining baby trainee revali who practices the choreo of their debut for hours until he collapses from exhaustion in the practice room, and teba comes in to tell him to go to sleep just as revali falls to the floor. teba immediately shouts for harth who's just down the hall and then goes running to revali to make sure he didn't hit his head or anything. the kid is sweaty and red-faced from how much he danced, completely conked the fuck out from how exhausted he is. harth comes and they carry him to his bed, and try to wake him up so revali can at least drink some water and see if he'll be able to wash up himself, and the whole experience is life-changing for revali because he's like. why did u do all this. and teba and harth are like ??? you're part of the team, we have to take care of each other? and you're the youngest... we have to take care of you especially. and revali is just wide-eyed and about to cry because what the hell. these people actually care about him??????
also manager kaneli and CEO valoo lmfaodkjfdkj. i'm torn between a couple of ideas for the company name because it's either like (1) RiTO is under 'TBNTH (Tabantha) Entertainment' which is a subsidiary of HEBRA Labels, (2) RiTO is under the company 'hebra ent.', OR (3) RiTO is under HEBRA ENT. which is a subsidiary of HYRULE CORPORATION. however for the last one, that would imply that were i to make link a kpop idol as well (😳), he would be in a company that is also a subsidiary to hyrule corp. not that it matters too much but i just think it would be funny if it was like. revali was from a Big 3 company whereas link was from an underdog company like bighit when it first started out. or maybe it does start like that and link's company becomes a subsidiary under one of the other Big 3 companies (Hyrule Corp, TWILI Industries, and TeRMiNA Labels?). i considered also doing something like RiTO being under [company named after hebra/tabantha] which is a subsidiary of [corporation label named after wind waker dragon roost island] but idk.
i'm not gonna go too into link's presence or revalink's relationship here unless you request it since you only asked about revali and i wanna keep the focus on him for this post 😭 but i think kpop idol!link OR fan!link would be very interesting for this au. like what about link who goes from fan to idol p1harmony-keeho style 😭 imagine if link was making tweets about revali like that one busanwings tweet before becoming an idol LIKE DKJFHDKJFHJDF
if link is only just a kpop idol, then him and revali are for SURE getting into dispatch dating rumor scandals. (for non-kpop oomfs, dispatch is a news company notorious in south korea for stalking kpop idols and dishing out scandals on them frequently). it'll be some stupid shit like "H3RO's Link was seen exiting the Slippery Falcon Cafe wearing a shirt similar to RiTO's Revali. Could it be the two idols are seeing each other?" because dating rumors have actually happened in kpop like that 😭
also consider them getting in a dating rumor, and where revali's managers are furious and revali doesn't want to be involved with this nugu, link is completely starry-eyed because revali is actually his idol and the reason why he pursued being an idol, and his company is actually thrilled because ahaha bad publicity is still publicity, right? especially if it has to do with one of the top groups out there right now!

please tell me about your blorbos/myshows i have questions
these are all the series/characters i want to hear more about,,, don't fret if your blorbo isn't on here, some of them i just don't want spoilers for, and others are from things I'm already a fan of!
this is. kind of long bc im curious about a lot of things. but if you spot your guy in here feel free to send me an ask or respond to this!! also this is just in alphabetical order lmao
The main things I'm looking for are:
About the character
The premise of the series theyre in
Please assume this has spoilers, btw!
Aruru Otsuki - Revue Starlight
tbh I don't understand what kind of franchise revue starlight is so that's my first question. But I also see that a lot of people love her and i wanna know what's up with that!! i heard a lot about her experiencing potential found family trauma and that's always interesting to see
Bayonetta
this is kind of a weird one bc tbh bayonetta is rlly popular as is, and it's something i've been wanting to get into for awhile, so my main question is: is it inappropriate for minors or could i watch it and if so what's the best order/sequence to watch the games in??
Cure Moonlight / Yuri Tsukikaga - Heartcatch Precure
tbh im just gay on this one. but I saw a lot of love for her even when she had zero propaganda so i wanna know what makes her so beloved by the precure fans?? and tbh if the precure she's in isn't too long i'll probably watch it
Hisoka Mikage - A3!
I'm gonna let you guys on a secret. this dude is the reason I wanted to make this. he only had one submission but on top of being a long one the amnesia storyline just appeals so deeply to me please tell me how I can absorb info about him and/or watch canon events of him oh my god
Judith - Tales of Vesperia
i think i mentioned it in the ask about her but she's seem interesting!! and im always down for some sapphic storylines!! a lot of it is just that ive heard the tales of vesperia name but never really knew what it was, but off of the descriptions i do have i could enjoy it and wanna hear what exactly it's about?
Moonlight Cookie - Cookie Run
i've. tried to get into cookie run before. but i just couldn't bring myself to care. so i guess my question is can you guys please tell me about how she's a lesbian, as someone who has zero bias whatsoever (lying i am a lesbian) and also just what appeals to you about the story so i can maybe give it a second shot?
Sigma Klim - Zero Escape
listen im all for mastermind plots, even if I know the plottwist going into it. ive seen fanart of 999 from an artist i've admired for awhile and it looks like it could be interesting but i don't know what the series is about so please tell me if you don't mind,,
Sirius Gibson - Witch's Heart
im a sucker for games with different endings, and also a sucker for small indie games that have a lot of passion put into them. i'm not actually sure if that's what this, but that's what i assume it is, and it looks interesting enough to give a chance either way? but i don't
Ursula Callistis / Shining Chariot - Little Witch Academia
so uh. fun fact. one of my siblings actually tried to get me into little witch academia once! and then we never continued bc i guessed the plot twist of the teacher being shining chariot, but that was very early on before i'd really gotten attached to anyone. what im trying to say is if you can pitch the writing and/or characters of this that would be epic sldkjf
Vanitas of the Blue Moon - Vanitas no Carte
i honestly can't remember what appealed to me about em off the top of my head, but it mightve been that one post with the gifs going a bit more into the lore of the story? as of now im just a sucker for the aesthetic but i wanna hear more about the premise to see if its my kind of story sdljf
Yue / Yukito Tsukishiro - Card Captor Sakura
i actually have friends who are fans of ccs! well. friends of friends im not super close to but it still counts! i wanna hear more about them bc tbh i both think he could be interesting and im sure said friends would appreciate it :'D i also just don't know a lot about ccs premise though, if you'd like to offer that instead!

big three:
one piece worst character designs but best story/character development n world building
bleach kinda under developed, the characters are fleshed out in a diff way like best designs n powers but thats bc of kubo illness i suppose they dont get utilised in a good way like look at the arrancars 😭😭 just tossed to the side. also ichigo just nerfing everybody is annoying like ur telling me the soul society who are these ancient powerful beings get their ass whooped by a 15 year old who has some of rukia’s power? aurkay
naruto, ik u never really were into it but i like kishimoto’s illustrations honestly, i feel like the characters are interesting too but same issue as bleach, a lot of ppl just sorta got tossed to the side n a large focus on sasuke n naruto. and kishimoto defo the worst misogynist on this list. while oda can d!e at least his female characters have depth, naruto female characters r just cheerleaders for cawk minus tsunade but imma defend sakura from naruto fan boys every time
i have heard people say the same but i am a bleach bias and do note that kube sickness possibly got in the way of him building something great so he always will be my fav within the big three i fear 😭. i dropped one piece as soon as i found out ace got killed, then the body anatomy of the female characters (and don’t get me started on usopp) give me an ick, and then oda capping for that one mangaka that had child porn….realize one piece is not my cup of tea and that is okay 😭. it’s apart of the big three for a reason and you can’t take that title away from the big three no matter your opinions on it. i haven’t gotten into naruto though, don’t think it’s my cup of tea either tbh. but once again, its apart of the big three for a reason

🦇 for all of vbs maybe i'm very curious to see your opinions on this (@incorrect-queer-prosekai)
🦇 - would i rather this character be a vampire or a werewolf?
alright this is one of those times where before i say anything i need to clarify: i was a twilight fan when i was 12/13 and that has probably permanently affected my brain. also, i was team edward all the way so i may be a little bit biased, i will try not to be.
(me about to write this like an essay where you have to show both viewpoints /hj)
this got kind of long so actual opinions under the cut
kohane
on the one hand kohane loves animals which points to werewolf
on the other hand she has a really strong bond with count pearl, and snakes and vampires are similar in a way
also imagine her being drawn to an at the beginning of the main story bc her blood smells extra nice (like edward being drawn to bella in twilight (i am so sorry))
but also ofc vampires need blood to live and kohane would hate having to drink a living creature’s blood
yk how donated blood can only be kept for a certain amount of time before it has to get thrown out? kohane would steal the blood that won’t otherwise be used. it’s awful it’s like drinking stale milk but it’s enough to keep her going
her friends offer for her to have their blood consensually but she says no. this one time minori is so determined to help so she trips on purpose and is like oh no look at all this blood that i don’t need going to waste. if only there were a vampire here to put it to good use
why has this just become vampire!kohane hcs
YOU CAN SEE MY BIAS NOW CAN’T YOU
an
to keep this balanced, i’m going to go with werewolf an
werewolf!an and vampire!akito works super well in my head bc on the one hand an would scare akito on purpose but on the other hand an would be warm all the time and akito would be cold all the time so they would huddle for temperature regulation. (ofc this works for toya and kohane too but they’re happy to cuddle just to cuddle without the false pretences.)
an in her werewolf form knocks things off tables with her tail by mistake. all the time.
an moves in her sleep hc but worse. sometimes she turns into a werewolf in her sleep and doesn’t realise bc she wakes up human. she only realises bc when she wakes up her pillows and blankets and anything on her bedside table are all on the floor.
akito
akito’s is tricky because the thing is i can see both sides
on the one hand there’s something so funny about akito being afraid of dogs and then turning out to be a werewolf. but on the other hand him being afraid of dogs makes so much sense if he’s a vampire
he gets very little sleep (vampire coded) but he naps whenever he can (werewolf coded)
always cold (vampire) but consider him preferring being in his wolf form during the winter because his fur makes him warmer
vampire akito hating needing to rely on others to live (for their blood). werewolf akito hating needing to rely on others to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself or anyone else during a full moon
toya
i was torn on toya’s as well but ultimately i’m going for vampire. for funsies
toya is constantly dropping facts about random historical events but everyone just thinks he’s autistic and history is his spinterest
he would casually drop some fact about something super specific that happened 100 years ago and everyone would be like oh cool and move on
every time toya shows a sign of being a vampire people attribute it to autism. “he can’t have garlic sorry, i think it’s a texture thing” “sorry he never smiles with his teeth he’s bad at facial expressions” “he’s bad with social cues so he won’t enter your house unless you specifically say that he can”

Favorite Location: ??? idfk the entire Legacy??? I'll go with Werites Beacon for simplicity I guess. feels like home
Favorite Mascot: Giet. don't tell me he's not a mascot, I'm not listening. (and if you want to try having that discussion my answer is still the Oresoren so we're not getting far, are we)
Favorite Monster: ??? also dfk, probably something cute except i don't like hurting cute so i guess we're stuck
Favorite Boss Battle: UHHHH listen it hurts to say but Vicious; bc the raw emotion that went into that entire storyline ate me whole
Favorite Villain: since I'm avoiding antagonists here (such as Duke who aren't explicitly villains) and prefer to go full villain, Creed.
Least Liked Character: not opening THAT can of worms!!! :D
Your First Tales Game: boooo boriiiing. Symphonia like the other half of the western population. no fancy answer here
Your Favorite Scene: ??? I mean, there's... a lot I guess??? Stahn pleading with Leon moments before disaster??? Kanata crying that Vicious was okay and came back to them??? Moses saying literally anything ever in any scene ever??? the end of Innocence but when you choose Spada as your soulmate bc I'm a bias little fuck??? anything with Yuri and Flynn being happy together??? the entirety of Legendia???
Funniest Scene: idk but it either had Moses in it, Vicious in it, or it was Spada's "I can't believe you mixed up Frosty the Snowman with the Abominable Snowman"
Saddest Scene: Moses' Character Quest cutscene (if not the whole fucking CQ), moments during disaster with Leon, moments during disaster with Asch
Favorite Quote: a lot of stuff Vicious said ngl. can't think of nor pick one off the top of my head but every time he Gets Serious it's one of those and I fall in love further every single time. but if we wanna be REEEALLY simple? "Yeehaw". thanks, Moses. maybe Yuri has said something cool enough to get on the top list, but I'm not sure anything is trumping "yeehaw", and maybe that's equal to something Vicious said
Favorite Piece of Gameplay Music: Scutum - Decisive Battle. Pour one out for Rebirth having the fucking BEST battle theme ever.
Most Shocking Reveal: ??? I'm... not sure at this point. Giet??? was it Senel??? maybe Mathias and Ruca??? Ratatosk and Emil??? I kind of want to say Ratatosk and Emil because I remember being very impressed with the direction of the plot, in that the main protagonist/player character was actually the villain the whole time that the antagonist was trying to kill the whole time. definitely not a plot direction you usually get in JRPGs. Giet's story still hit like an entire brick building 100 storeys high falling on me though
Favorite One on One Fight: that was actually FUN??? uhhh idk Vicious against Kasque. what did you expect me to say???
Favorite Skit: way too many skits to have even a semblance of an idea. I'm going to assume it was either something related to Yuri and Flynn, Moses, Vicious, Spada or Stahn. that's about the closest I can pinpoint
Favorite Tales Spell: I don't... think I have one...
Favorite Tales Weapon: -bangs fist on desk and gets really obvious really fast- BLOOD SINS, BLOOD SINS, BLOOD SINS. after that the Swordians
Tales World You Want to Live In: honestly Legendia's and Graces' seem the most reasonably normal compared to the rest, but also shiny fingertips and Moses is a pretty solid Legendia
Favorite Animated Tales Series/OVA: (don't say rays don't say rays don't say rays don't say stahn/leon) probably First Strike if only because it focuses on Yuri and Flynn who I love, but Abyss' anime was very solid compared to the other Tales animated series that were just heavily condensed versions (or worse in Eternia's case, not even being relevant to the main story). like, I would not recommend the animated series to anyone prior to playing the game except for Abyss, which is the full major story and I have inarguably rewatched that anime more than I've played the game. I guess in terms of general animated, FS, but in terms of actual consistency to the game it came from and dedication it had in retelling the story faithfully without skipping 80 percent of it, Abyss
Favorite Tales Outfit: RICHARD??? HEEEELLO??? not arc F though that shit is too fruity for me. also Leon has VERY enjoyably bright colors that make him stand out and as a Very Deeply Definitely Not Obsessive Leon Enjoyer, I very much love that. Aegis also has a really nice outfit. Asbel's is pretty but definitely not Richard level of I'm obsessed with this look
Favorite Game Plot: -breaks everything in your room and your neighbor's room for good measure- TURN IT BACK ON NAMCO I'M PAST MY LIMIT SO I'M PROBABLY IN OVERLIMIT (Crestoria. it's that or I'm saying Legendia again. Innocence and Hearts both are really close runner ups tho!!! definitely the most unique in the franchise imo out of the mainline games and sadly confined to "nobody fucking cares about them and never did")
Favorite Game Ending: so that's got... layers. it really depends on the sub topic. I guess in terms of a happy ending, Graces (the Wii version specifically, getting Richard back. don't really care for the ending of arc F and lean more toward disliking it). in terms of a depressing fucking ending that makes me Very Upsetti, Destiny. there is literally nothing happy about Destiny's ending for me. like yeah we saved the world, but at a LOT of cost and it's just depressing. I've wanted to make a post about that anyway, but basically it's a type of ending they don't really make anymore (especially in Tales), and the emotional impact for me was a lot heavier than the other games, with Destiny 2 lingering right behind it. both Destiny games were just DEPRESSING, and no matter how bittersweet Destiny 2's ending was, it's still DEPRESSING. Vesperia at least had a more outright happy ending (that wasn't completely changed by a post game ending arc with a totally different ending) and I finally at that point didn't lose my favorite character to Certain Final Boss Death or Recurring Side Character I Came To Love Dying Unceremoniously and Undeserved. only a couple of top favorites actually came out of their games alive for me by Vesperia in terms of games I know + release timeline (to put it into perspective, by the time of Vesperia in release order (so not the order I played in bc I don't really remember the whole actual order at this point), out of all the games I know, my favorite character death toll was five to three survivors not counting Vesperia. still haven't played Eternia so I'm not counting that one). so I guess like, my answer is a whacky combination of Graces for the Wii, Destiny and Vesperia. maybe if Hearts hadn't killed my mans off then it could've had it all. 😔
#GTF Thoughts#GTF Things#Tales 30 Day Challenge#mainly doing this in case anyone has Same Hat Opinions and wants to talk abt them LOL#for number 22 it was also fun using his new form. normally one on one battles are either#annoying or just a nightmare. or just outright unwinnable by scripted plot (ex Senel and Melanie)#as far as ''canon'' ships go that's also a can on worms i am NOT opening until society can accept that gay ppl actually exist :)#anyway have i properly established my love for legendia now? for crestoria? for moses? for vicious?#i post abt them a lot less bc the amount of content out there for like#vesperia and abyss which i tend to post reblogs of most is WAAAAAY beyond higher#it's kind of like... the less i talk abt it and the less content it has... the more likely i WANT to talk abt it and LOVE it#i could talk to you about moses and spada ALL FUCKING DAY but most ppl haven't played either game or don't care for them#and also i usually stay quiet abt moses bc ONCE THOSE GATES ARE OPEN YOU'RE NOT SHUTTING THEM#moses leon vicious and spada are like... the ones i would love to talk abt nonstop forever#bc they're talked abt a lot less. leon IS popular even in the west but your average tales fan#is not going to know destiny/that it exists or have played destiny or even care to from my experience#i ramble abt what faves i can basically LOL but many of my actual top of the top faves are so obscure that like#i can't find ppl to talk to abt them. yuri is in a very very weird place with my faves#bc my technical favorite in that game is duke but yuri gets senel level position of fave mc#and is also Very Special to me so he's in a weird place as a favorite that#in some ways passes Actual Favorite Duke and in other ways doesn't

my immediate thought in regards to "why are all the grands men and beasts women" was "because sexism" but then I though that's jumping the gun, but then I thought about it and like....that actually tracks? Like look at the main stories people associate with Nasu, Heaven's Feel or Fate Extra or CCC or Hollow Atarxia. They all have a theme of "Women are extremely easy to corrupt and men are much more set in their ways". Even Notes is about a male killing a corrupted female figure. Pretty much every story Nasu writes boils down to a powerful force that's been corrupted into being evil, and the only male one of them that actually gets treated like a villain for it is Angra Mainyuu who still gets to be a main character and does the right thing in the end rather than have to be stopped by force.
I dunno maybe i'm overthinking it? I guess it could just be he really likes Sakura and Shirou and so he keeps making similar characters and THAT's why we get so many "evil woman of corrupting evil" characters vs "Bodysnatching and-or power/name-borrowing himbo who is very bad at trying to help"
I feel like it’s probably a bit of both of those reasons as well as a simultaneous combo of it being not that deep and also deep like
(Disclaimer that I haven’t fully read the source material)
As you mentioned nasu loves the shirou/sakura type dynamic and a lot of his work reflects themes that, while not identical do tend to mirror that in vaguely similar ways with the fucked up dude trying his best and woman suffering very much who then starts lashing out super hard thing it to varying degrees of success and compassion. And to be clear, I think Sakura herself in the original vn is a pretty good character- she isn’t demonized by the narrative so much as it’s seen as a understandable but not tolerable reaction to a frankly untenable situation, and she is allowed agency and to grow and heal as a person-her most important relationships in heaven’s feel aren’t just w shirou but also her estranged sister. Same case for shirou as well-he suffered extreme trauma at a young age that he never healed from, instead using an unrealistic ideal to keep himself moving cowards, and the routes all tackle that background and how it colors his relationships in varying ways. Obviously there’s still flaws w their writing and they/their proxies haven’t always been handled great afterwards (stares hatefully at ooku) but I think some of this really is just bc it’s two character archetypes that personally speak to the writer in question.
At the same time there’s def been more of a focus on evil and fucked up women after the case then there has been on the fucked up men, and if I had to say, in the most mercenary terms, it’s probably bc they think sex sells (or something along those lines). I know stuff like ccc was written with the premise that ‘all girls possess the ability to become monsters when in love’ and borrowed heavy theming from sources like utena, but at the same time there’s basically 0 focus on the men of that game or other games (sans gilgamesh and Charlie/karl in extella link.) Why can we not have any male secret gardens? Why is the game so heavily weighted towards exploring the dark side of feminine sexuality but locks you out of archer’s third secret garden if you play as a male character? (I know why, but it’s so petty when they don’t do the same to the female servants if you play as a girl) It hampers their ability to properly develop the character arcs and themes of the story when they shove recurring characters like Leo and Julius off to the side while giving loving attention to new people like liz and jinako and it’s truly a shame. This is a similar reason as to why goetia is now the only beast who is completely unsummonable (you can summon fou paws can you not?)-they simply want to dedicate more time to developing the women characters whether bc of preferential bias on the writers end or bc the women are more popular, but it does create a damaging implication about what they might think of women when they don’t also reflect that effort back into men
I don’t think this is something done out of complete malice but it definitely does give off unfortunate implications, especially bc a few of the beasts have no historical basis (kiara and koyanskya) and are just woman who girlbossed too close to the sun, whereas all the grands do have some connection to history even if they are more obscure, so it does give off the impression that the evils of humanity are all sexy sexy women and the world will have to be saved by men even if that’s not what the writers intended (I still suspect we will probably get a female saber, and ofc goetia is a man…72 men?)(I also argue that kama should’ve been a man or non-binary bc how tf are you gonna split list into a top/bottom side for yin-yang stuff and then make them both woman for personal horny reasons that’s just stupid. Fuck outta here men also list. Or, uh, women also lust? I’m losing track).
would also argue king Hassan is PROBABLY not a himbo.

Not sure I agree with that last anon. First off, feminists are actaully the most likely group to listen to men's problems than any other group. Tbf not every feminist does that, like man haters and Terfs are a different stories, but feminist who know what they're talking about have a broader view than "man vs woman" and understand that everyon esuffers under patriarchial standards, just in different ways. Non-feminists and especially your typical "dude bro alpha males" will absolutely make fun of any man having any feelings that aren't anger. I'm a man and I speak from peronal experience here.
And honestly I'm so tired of people complaining about how feminism ruined the show bc Mari has more screentime than Adrien. Astruc wouldn't know feminism if it hit him in the face. He just fails to understand that feminism is not "woman strong man weak". Adrien is the focus of most plot lines because he's Marinette's main motivator to do anything. Astruc based her entire personality about liking a boy. Doesn't sound very feminist to me.
The Adrien abuse not being followed more is also not the result of feminism, it's just a quirky little accessory for Adriens character so the fandom doesn't entirely forget he's here. Hell, Adrien being an abuse victim is like the number one reason why he is so popular in the first pace. Gabe's an ass, Adrien is sad, the audience feels sorry for him. There's no substance, no complexity, no overcoming any complicated emotions. And that's not because feminism, it's because the writers have no idea what being abused actually means, especially how the actions of the abusers get constantly excused. Not only Gabriel, but also Audrey and Jagged who abandoned their kids get away scot free. The writers don't care about abuse victims or giving them a character they can relate to, they just use it as a character trait because they don't know how else to make a character likeable and symathetic. It has nothing to do with any narrative about how "white men are predators" or whatever.
I'm guessing you saw my posts as merely a chance to rant about fandom tendencies that get you peeved, but next time, please just say so, instead of trying to make it sound like I said something I didn't. Like, I get it, the Anon messaging me made it sound like they thought the Miraculous crew were radfems, which I also highly doubt. But also note that this message you sent really reads like you're saying I said or implied something like: "feminism ruined Miraculous" or "feminists treat male victims of abuse worse than other people", which I absolutely did not. I'm a queer feminist, but I'm not exactly running a social justice information blog here. Not everything I say is going to sound perfectly eloquent, but my response in that post was literally less than 200 words; you can spend more time reading it if you're going to send me an essay saying things I was trying to say but with more words and defensiveness and countering arguments I didn't make.
I should probably say this: you're not wrong but that doesn't mean I'm wrong either. Yes, feminists are more likely to listen to and advocate for male victims than other parties. HOWEVER, it is still an undisputable fact that many feminists (note: I never said all) hold the belief that men can never be victims, and that attitude is not only present in radical feminists. I don't like it either, but some feminists are jerks and we can't deny that fact. Still, the main point I was trying to make was that this attitude is not tied to feminism or anti-feminism to begin with; it's a more universal societal bias.
I agree with your point that Miraculous doesn't necessarily have anything to do with denying male victimhood, as I said: the writers don't need to villify Adrien in order to not focus on his story. I was merely stating that the subconcious bias around abuse makes it very easy for the writers to just go: "there isn't really a story here." It's true that the Miraculous writers really don't seem to grasp just how much parental abuse happens in their story, which means that the underlying bias we can see in the show might actually be about parental abuse, rather than male victims specifically. While Kagami is getting support over her situation, Chloé isn't, so it might not be tied to the victim's gender. Still, there is clearly a bias in the show's writing where the abuse present in the story isn't being taken seriously as abuse.
I even agree that Miraculous being a girl power show is not some great failure of feminism, even when some issues with the show come specifically from it being a girl power show. "Girl power" is just the most basic way of making a show that's designed to get girls to like it, and it often doesn't lend itself to nuanced storytelling. Girls being the target audience doesn't make this show feminist; it's just what the creators think appeals to girls.
It's just kind of pathetic that all these problems are becoming more prominent specifically in the seasons the showrunners are trying to tell us are going to be more mature and emotional. Not that raising the rating by one bar is that big of a difference, really.

Literary analysis, by its very nature, is subjective. This is a false dichotomy and you know it.
Hi, literally got my degree in literary analysis and now teach/tutor in it for a Living, maybe it didn't click for you the first time but there is 100% a difference between "I'm evaluating something entirely on how it makes me feel" (which is entirely subjective) VS "I'm critically analyzing how a piece of fiction is put together and works regardless of how it makes me feel" which is subjective in its interpretations, yes, but there is an objective ground work that exists for every piece of Art or Literature (the "ur textual" foundation if you will, which yes, "ur text" is the term, it does sound very silly) that provides the basis for analysis in the first place.
If nothing about an artistic interpretation, even reading/watching the work itself as a process, is objective than no art can be analyzed in the first place. It was one of the first things we talked about in my narrative theory analysis courses
The example I always go back to is my experience in reading "1984" when I was in high school. Hated that fucking book. I hated all the main characters, I was rooting for them to get captured and tortured just so the book would end, I have no plans to ever read it again, etc. It was one of the best books I've ever read and I am infinitely grateful that I did read it bc 1) I learned a lot, 2) it has a lot of interesting discussions on the nature of language itself (which makes me think of "Fugitive Pieces" by Anne Michaels, which is also excellent) and 3) it's a fucking good, not enjoyable, book.
It's like I said in my own more recent posts and in others about leaving biases at the door to engage with what a story is actually Trying to Do. I'm staunchly against monarchy. If I brought my "we should abolish the monarchy" stance into TDP (when many kings and queens are also characters of colour for once) that would mean I'm focusing on how I think the story should be and dragging it for not doing what I believe and/or expect, rather than engaging with what the story Actually wants to say about monarchy, government, and leadership.
It's also just dumb to expect every story to explore a theme in the same manner every time? I explain it to my students a lot in terms of broad theme, like Love, but what matters is the specificity, i.e. Love as a theme in "Midsummer Night's Dream" vs "Romeo and Juliet" have overlap, 100%, but ultimately their thematic stance on Love is what determines the tonal and thematic culminations of their very different genres and explorations of a similar theme
As I said in my big post, if someone actually wants to critique S4 on a structural level and show me, beat-for-beat, how that structure is vastly different than the other seasons in execution, I'd be very interesting in reading it. I love that sort of thing and I like to think through all the angles. But thus far it doesn't exist and I think it would be a very hard meta to write, simply because there is more structural evidence for similarities than differences. Something can be very good while being structurally weak (hi Frozen) or something can be very bad/boring while being structurally sound. But because responses tend to be more subjective than analyzing structure, I prefer to work in analyzing structure. I never would've made it through my courses with books that were emotionally hard to read, like "Things Fall Apart" or "Wuthering Heights" otherwise. Preferring to work in structural analysis is my personal bias, of course, but that doesn't mean my structural analysis itself (i.e. Ezran being a peace maker for Callum and Rayla in 1x06 and 4x06) is biased, because that parallel is just a fact
Once again, pointing to:
Saying “this wasn’t worth the wait” is an emotional complaint. Which is also fine! But it’s entirely subjective. It’s saying your enjoyment of the season (a story that is separate as a concept out of time) is dependent on the time you spent waiting for it, something that means nothing to the story’s structure, because it was never built to take that into account from a Plot standpoint, never mind a narrative one
Dunno what's so hard to stomach about that, but your attitude is certainly sour

for the fall emoji asks - 👻🦇 & 🔮!! <3
Tyvm for the ask!! 💖
👻 Ghost: Do you have a character or a scene that continues to haunt you? Something or someone you wish you had done differently or just can’t stop thinking about?
(for The Runaway) Hmm... If anything I wish I would have thought over Robin's (Eva's mom) bias/antagonism toward Megyn a little better. I feel like my writing of that wasn't effective enough (but I do have plans to sort-of rectify this in future scenes)
(for the One Life Challenge) Not sure if anyone has noticed but I retconned Hotaru (Akari's oldest brother) moving away to Sulani from Tatsuya (their middle brother). I regret adding this in and letting it happen since it was totally out of Hotaru's character and he would never live alone for the life of him (hence the now-canon event that Hotaru and Tatsuya never left each other and continue to live in San Myshuno together)
🦇 Bat: If you could teleport to any point in your story where would it be? You can go back to correct past “mistakes” or into the future to something you’re most excited about
(for The Runaway) Without providing too much detail, my story will have a definitive climax, so I def wanna teleport to that part of the story bc I'm v excited for it
(for the One Life Challenge) I wanna teleport to the end so I can tally up my points and provide detailed statistics of my challenge run (also so I can move on to other sim-related things; I'm ready to finish it and do something new!)
🔮 Crystal Ball: How far into the future of your story can you see? Do you plan everything in advance or take things step by step?
(for The Runaway) It's a mixture of both for me. I have the big events planned out roughly but I figure out the details and transition scenes as I go. I know how my story will end so that's how far I can see ^^
(for the One Life Challenge) Completely as-I-go because of the nature of the challenge (the course of Akari's life was totally unplanned; I had no idea who or where she'd be when I first started it. That's one of the main gimmicks of the challenge though; seeing who your sim becomes and where they'll go in life)

Since Hopes couldn't be assed to give Khalid a last name (referring to Claude like that because of, well, the lack-of-a-last-name issue I have lol), or give his father a name at all, do you have any headcanons as to what Khalid's full name/his father's name is?
I wouldn't say I have anything concrete, but I can list off some names I've considered with their basic name meaning (obviously the name meaning can vary a bit depending on the source so I tried to use more than one for some). :o
For Claude:
Rahal (person who embarks on a journey)
Hussain (handsome/beautiful)
Irfan (knowledgeable person, constant learner and/or awareness)
Rashid (truth, person who points others to the truth or in the right direction)
Rahim (forgiving/merciful)
Harith (bc it means lion and I'm gonna ship at unstoppable levels)
For Claude's dad:
Malik (king)
Qadir (almighty, powerful)
Nasser (victory)
Jalal (is similar to Qadir. can mean mighty, glory, power, superiority )
I actually had the idea of Rahim because of Claude's conversations with Rhea near the end of VW. I felt like he was very forgiving, understanding and sympathetic to her, but also merciful in that he used to think she wasn't fit to lead and once considered what the world would look like if she had died. When he heard her story, I think he would have understood her fears and realized they weren't that different - that she hid her identity and lied just to stay alive. She and her kin were seen as monsters for not being human, and I think he would understand that. The mercy from him would be hearing her story without judgement and not treating her as a monster despite knowing the truth. I think at that moment she expected to be judged and looked at with disgust, but he would understand what she went through. In a way, he is the mercy by being the person she had to tell her story to, because most other people might not have understood or looked at her as just another person after that.
Really, I think Rashid is my favorite because it aligns so perfectly with his character and goals. He's a truth seeker and wants to show that truth to others, leading them in the right direction and trying to help others from being left out. He wants everyone to be together like it's nothing special, in his own words, and the only way to do that is to show everyone the truth - that Fodlan's people are not cowards and that Almyra's people are not just horrible brutes. He aims to lead them down the right path and to stop the pointless hatred and warring.
For his father, I picked out Malik because it's a simple one with a very obvious meaning and I'm slightly bias because it reminds me of Tales of Graces because it has a Malik.
I've always considered that his name would mean something strong sounding considering what we know about him and what we know about Claude and Shahid. I think of all of them, Qadir is probably my favorite for him. I think in a way "almighty" would fit him because he's not just the king of Almyra, but he used to be able to get into Fodlan multiple times and get back out alive. To be able to go get into enemy lands as a kid, because like, you know how little kids can be, thinking it's so cool to do something the adults won't even do, I think would eventually seen by others as something to respect since he didn't just go to Fodlan and get killed. He repeatedly got back home and for a kid, that's pretty impressive.
Since I've never had reason to actually use these names like in fics or anything, I haven't really settled on anything for certain. Maybe someday I'll use them though!

uhh 2, 4, 24 for the oc thing 💯
2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?
like asking if I have a favourite child! I have biases for sure though haha - usually because certain dynamics interest me or because certain characters are fun to write
Mechana and Lucinda have been favourites for a while though - as mentioned Lucinda has been around for years and years and gone through many changes, pretty much her whole character has been flipped on it's head since 2014 when I initially came up with her design
Mechana was slightly more recent, about 2018? she was based on an AOStH AU that was supposed to more focus on Robotnik's robots as they try to navigate the world on their own after leaving the abusive paternal relationship of their creator.
so Mechana was "what if we made Robotnik a lady. Oh no I like her."
she's still kind of messed up, she's burned bridges with a lot of those closest to her including the sentient robots she built. She has an alcohol problem. She once had very honorable goals but she's been gradually losing her way, up until present canon time where she's very much like Robotnik - bitter, prone to violence and stubborn.
I realized, because this universe is more serious than the one it's based on I wasn't going to have a Sonic, so I needed a different sort of rival for Mechana. Lucinda just sort of happened to flit across my mental radar, but having both characters in the same story has shaped both of them so much I can't separate them anymore
like, Lucy's orange made me want to lean more into giving Mechana a contrasting colour scheme, Mechana is mentally decaying, Lucy is trying to fend off a physical disease that claimed her father's life at around the age she is now. Lucy is obsessed with fitness and all that healthy lifestyle stuff, she scarcely drinks. Lucy is more obsessed with her image.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was going to bring up more characters I have biases towards but I think the fact that I went on about these two as long as I have is pretty telling HAHAHA
I want to do more with them sometime though! Like, part of me thinks their universe would be cool as a premise for a game or something
oh I also at one point wanted to do some animated thing with them (one other character mentioned here, Dr. Mallard is another rival roboticist Lucinda hired - he was otherwise good, but a combination of running tight on money and Lucinda deceptively painting the job she was hiring for in a virtuous light persuaded him to work for her)
youtube
also a bit biased towards Eddie Winters bc he was really fun to write, Animato my funny mask guy (...maybe I just have a bias towards funny mask guys also) and Selkie who might be one of my all time fave persona/fursona designs
4. A character you rarely talk about?
I have certain stories that just kind of sit in limbo sometimes, so I can have like, casts of characters who just sit on the backburner haha
I never talked about her specifically I don't think? Sherry is the main character in a story I had in development for a while - this was in 2020
Tumblr media
sort of a magic + monarchy setting, Sherry (dark blue + left) and her twin brother Mickey (pink + far left) were born to a malicious ruler, after Mickey was disowned in his youth for being outed Sherry was set to inherit the throne. Although, things would not go to plan, many years later Sherry escaped from the monarchy with Verde's (green) help in order to transition.
The story's canon begins with Sherry and Mickey reuniting, both of them having been in hiding and their half-brother Dan now as the sole prince the throne would publicly claim. The two of them receive a mysterious message: the King is out for blood, he wants to get rid of Sherry for good and make sure his authority is absolute and unquestioned.
So Sherry goes on a quest to find other women to aid her and find a way to counter the King, while also trying to avoid those he's sent to capture and kill her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there's also lots and lots of magic, Sherry's power is summoning and wielding knives, characters tend to have very specific types of magic and there's sometimes a hereditary element to it (metal is also the King's element, summoning swords has been a tradition)
lots and lots of exploration on the subject of identity, particularly with a focus on women
also, geez, some of these ladies came from a LISA AU except like a reverse deal with all women? Madam Monocle and Hedi specifically from the main cast - Madam is one of my favorite designs also, I have talked about her before, badass older lesbian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if I like a design I will recycle it somewhere mark my worms
it's not a priority rn but I still wanna do something with these guys eventually!!
24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?
might also have to go with Madam Monocle here bc she's just so much fun, she's a wild lady
