Rewatching episode one, I noticed that when Ragatha and Jax are talking to each other about Jax having a key, Pomni flinches away from, and lifts her arms to protect her face and head, when Jax toys with the key and catches it near her.

I wonder if she is that jumpy around others normally or if it's just when she's in a stressful situation (like suddenly being trapped in the circus) what do you think?

OK. ok. you mention this. and ive never said anything about it but i have genuinely noticed this almost every time ive seen that scene. i think about it a LOT but i havent been able to figure out my thoughts on it. but i think about it genuinely a LOT...

(i went on a huge tangent abt her thats like. only sporadically related to this specific moment SORRY. it was hard to address this moment without discussing a LOT about her i feel)

for the sake of clarity in the event someone reading this is unfamiliar, what this ask is referring to is this:

with the way that she so quickly dissociates and HARD (not that most people Never experience dissociation or smth, but its the intensity of it and how quick into this situation she starts dissociating is like. it makes it seem like its smth her body and mind are Used To Doing) she REALLY gives off the feeling that she had pre-existing mental health problems (i struggle to place anything TOO specific with the limited information we have but i feel like theres definitely a few things she has going on) before she even got to the circus, and like she COULD just be a naturally jumpy person, but with the dissociation thing and general distrust towards others, it feels like her jumpiness is also related to these issues

while her being naturally nervous is sort of implied and clear (though i think the extent of it is exaggerated by the circumstances of the pilot in particular) there ARE a few other examples that stand out to me

i THINK this can largely be passed off as her just being on edge from the horror adventure, but i this is IS notable that she reacts genuinely pretty strongly to what is a relatively minor 'jumpscare.' it happens later too w kinger pressing the tape recorder

in general she seems VERY easily startled by people, and frankly it reads a lot like it stems more from people being near her than just things happening abruptly. she notably doesnt jump hard when the angel arrives- she DOES get scared, but she isnt necessarily startled. she DOES react very strongly to ghostly, but i think its notable that she seems to find his visual appearance frightening and debatably not necessarily startling, but thats not really 100%. the times she reacts the strongest have to do with people, which imo ties HARD into her not trusting people

episode 2 breaks down her distrust of people well, and i dont think its a self consciousness thing. it seems more that she just doesnt tend to find people trustworthy- if something bad was happening to her, she would sooner assume theyd let it happen rather than help her. it could be argued that its partially a guilt or projection thing with ragatha, but im not actually so sure. pomni seems to be ashamed of leaving her behind, but particularly through ep 2 she doesnt seemed Plagued With Guilt by the way she acts towards ragatha, which implies that the dream didnt have to do with her projecting that shame in a way shed assume ragatha would turn back on her, too

it instead seems to be that she doesnt trust ragatha just... in general. the 'im not a child' thing, while a legitimate problem for pomni to have with ragatha (i love ragatha, and from my place in the audience i know her concern is genuine, and that she truly wants to encourage pomni, and is trying, but from the perspective of people around ragatha, its not an unreasonable assumption that shes JUST being infantilizing and belittling), does illuminate how pomni is seeing ragathas attempts at cheering her up- that it comes from a place of seeing pomni as immature or generally unstable. that pomni is incapable of managing herself and needs to be coaxed. it implies pomni doesnt see ragathas attempts at help as genuine. combined with her dream, that ragatha would allow the worst to happen to her even when she was asking for help, makes it very clear that, even with the 'nicest' person in the circus, pomni just... doesnt really trust her

(it is worth noting that pomni DOES seem to genuinely want to help ragatha in the pilot. she DID try to find caine. but she bolts at the first opportunity. she does care about people, but when stressed, she operates on keeping herself safe first and foremost, that she needs to do anything to get out of a bad situation even if that means leaving someone behind- and with her dream, it does seem that she generally assumes other people operate similarly, or otherwise in their own best interest)

this does, of course, improve by the end of eps 2 and 3. the funeral, and ragatha offering to include her, and how the others talk about abstracted players (combined with her conversation with gummigoo, someone who she has to assure has genuine friendships with those around him despite the lack of a true reality for them to be based upon), are able to convey that oh, these people do actually care about the people around them. theyre being genuine. they arent just looking out for themselves and thats it- they care when bad things happen to each other. and theres no true reason for me to be an exception. which is ALSO why i dont think its a self consciousness thing, she seems able to reason that shes not an exception to the intents of others, so much that when she cant assure herself that others' intents hold her safety as any sort of priority as well, any trust goes out the window. she WANTS to help if she can, but esp in the pilot, as far as shes concerned, its everyone for themself when shit gets bad, including herself

ep 3, she seems more trusting of ragatha- she has neutral and positive interactions w her, rather than assuming a lack of sincerity in it. but its not just ragatha, actually, because even before her talk with him, you can see it in how she interacts with kinger as well

she initially tries to help him run, which isnt too out there- with how she genuinely DID initially try to help ragatha, it doesnt require her to go out of her way to grab him and RUN. she can run AND take him with her. she can help without putting herself in extra danger. but then she DOES go back, which is one of my favorite and imo underrated pomni moments. because THIS is what i think actually highlights an improvement in how she sees the others before her apologizing to ragatha or taking kingers hand. because she puts herself BACK into (percieved, since its not actual sure WHAT the angels intentions were her) danger in order to get kinger away too

(theres probably a case to be made that ragatha didnt seem to be in immediate danger- she was in pain, that much was clear, but kaufmo had ran away by then. but even still, pomni couldnt have known kaufmo would shift gears and start chasing her instead of ragatha that first time. and i dont know if she actually knew death wasnt possible here yet. which isnt very flattering for pomni but also people do not act in flattering ways under extreme stress, esp given a predisposition to not trusting others, which ill elaborate more on in a second here- not that pomnis abandonment was ok OR that it was like evil of her or smth. shes just a person. there is no way she was prepared to know how to act correctly in this situation, and she didnt)

theres also this

which is SUBTLE but highlights a genuine increase in trust even before their heart to heart. now that she knows the cast (save for jax, who she seems to react to the harshest, which is worth noting imo) are not acting solely in their own best interest, that they WILL consider the wellbeing of those around them including her, that their concern for one another is genuine (which is concerning that she even assumes that to begin with, which ill circle back to momentarily), she very clearly has way more faith in them and the idea that she should stick around the others for safety

and of course, ive said it before, but her taking kingers hand has little to do with her enjoying holding hands. its her knowing that, if kingers wrong, this is going to end very, very badly. if holding their breath isnt the solution theyre BOTH going to get possessed, and who knows how theyd get out of that situation. but she decides in that moment that her trust in the others isnt ONLY about looking out for them and believing that theyre sincere in their concern for her. but that she is willing to let the others put her at a potential massive risk. getting possessed was a blatantly immediately traumatic experience- and she lets kinger put her at risk of it happening again. THATS why she holds his hand, at least symbolically. she doesnt like contact. but she can brave something that she doesnt like, she can let him lead her into and through something potentially horrific, because shes deciding to trust him and the others, that theyre not just people she can interact with without fear of ill intentions, but that theyre people who she is going to coexist with. the best thing she can do for herself and the others is trust them and work with them actively

anyway that got off-track, the point being that her having to have these ideas instilled in her at all through shared experiences and trauma implies that, while these issues with distrust may have been exacerbated by the stress of everything, they didnt come from nowhere. these are problems she likely already had to some degree. its great that theres been improvement but that improvement directly implies thesse were improvements that needed to be made to begin with. and the fact that the person she gets repeatedly most startled by is jax. who, even with episode 2, she explicitly doesnt trust. in the pilot, at least, her distrust is more vague (i think the dream sequence in ep 2 IS what highlights it best) so her flinching from jax can be passed off as related to a general lack of adjustment to the new environment and situation shes in. but it happens again with jax in episode 3 (and, notably, she pauses afterwards but it takes a moment for her to relax even knowing its just jax), after shes adjusted somewhat, and after shes gained some trust with everyone except for jax (given his absence from the scene at the end of ep 2). it also happens when barons voice plays abruptly next to her

point being that imo, she IS naturally jumpy. she says herself that she doesnt handle jumpscares well, which somewhat implies this even outside of the circumstances of the circus. but with how she reacts to things, it feels like her general jumpiness is far, far worse when it comes to people she doesnt trust (be it because jax is Like That, or because shes not familiar with baron). the way i see it, then, her distrust extends to perceiving physical threats easily around people she hasnt ensured are safe to be around. she IS able to gain this trust in people, but she seems to automatically place the intents of others as being Potentially Unsafe from the jump, especially under stress. she can jump back from it fairly quickly for what its worth, but to be honest, it seems more like she operates on some general, everpresent level of hypervigilance thats just sometimes worse based on the situation

and frankly i dont think we know enough about her as of ep 4 to fully determine if there IS a reason for this. because someone can have a reason to be this jumpy around others, or they can just... be nervous and dislike people moving suddenly near them. combined with the dissociation thing, though, im inclined to think the circus did not cause this, just made it more extreme with more unpleasant stakes. there is hardly any time between her entering the circus and this happening. she hadnt even seen kaufmo yet in that very first example, but she was already on alert for a physical threat, and i just. i think about it all the time...

i think the main takeaway from all of this is that i think she isnt necessarily jumpy like that all the time, but i think trust is not a given with pomni, and her jumpiness massively depends on how much she trusts people near her and the situation shes in to not be a physical threat to her. its definitely worse in the circus, but i think it was probably still something present in a different context in the real world, too

The issues with cherry/ landmineconfessionl

So there has been a LOT of drama surrounding them for a while. Although while you are reading this keep in mind I only went back to mid may. If there is more drama deeper within their blog I have not seen it.

also I want to make it clear I do not support the hate that is going to cherry. BUT While they are a minor I do believe they should be held accountable for their actions.

The main issue is it seems that Cherry is using the confession to be bigoted. Some people believe that they are also the ones sending themselves the asks but I will get into it later.

Here are some of the “anons” that have sparked the debate.

The issue is Cherry tends to mod what gets posted BUT still decides that stuff like this (which isn’t helpful at ALL and can make people worse) needs to be on their blog. In other posts that have been hateful they can corrected the anon but when it comes to invalidating şħ or masc jirais they don’t even try to correct anon. There is MANY more posts like this but my phone is being iffy with screenshots so i suggest you go look at their account to find them.

This has lead people to believe that Cherry is sending themselves these anons. Cherry doesnt really ever respond well to those accusations. They just kinda say “it’s not me bc I would do this if it was me” which doesn’t really help their argument.

Again, this doesn’t really make the matters better. Their defensive posts back tend to make them look more guilty. And while I can understand having issues with coming off defensive and aggressive they are this way when someone says anything to them.

Here is another screenshot. I find it ironic have they call their blog a safe space but also decide to post bigotry and content invalidating mental health.

Another thing is that they always use tge “landmine confessions are needed!! And ppl like the other accounts!!” The other accounts actually mod what they post most of the time.

Also they have been blocking almost every account that calls them problematic. That doesn’t really help their case at all.

There is a lot more deeper within their account but again, my phone is being weird with taking screenshots right now and I only went to may if their account. I strongly suggest you take a look at this for yourself to better form an opinion.

“Do you think Zack knows what affection is?” Was a question you weren’t expecting to be thrown at you as soon as you walked in the lab that morning. Coffee in hand and bag slung over shoulder since you didn’t even get to make it to your office yet. 

“That is certainly a way to greet me first thing in the morning… Not even a ‘hello’ or a ‘good morning Y/N’?” You reply, an almost cranky tone in your voice. Your calm morning routine interrupted by Angela and her way too personal questions. Normally you would have entertained her for fun, but this morning was just not going well for you. Sleeping through your alarm and nearly forgetting your wallet didn’t make for a great start to the day. 

“Sorry, let me redo this since it appears you’re still waking up,” Angela points to your tumbler that is filled to the brim with coffee. She smiles in the way that you know no matter what you’re not getting out of this conversation.

“Hi, good morning, how are you? I’m fine yadda yadda. Now answer the question,” She rambles, hand waving as if she was sending the words away from her in the air. Her gaze is focused on your face, waiting for a response. You sigh, flipping open the tumbler and taking a large swig of your probably still too hot coffee. You’d need it for this. 

“I don’t know Ange, everyone else has me believing that he probably doesn’t. I don’t ever push for it anyways. I’m just trying to match his pace and comfort level,” You explain, turning to walk towards your office. Angela is quick to follow, her desire for answers outweighing whatever work she surely has piling up.

“You two have been dating for months. No hand holding? Not even a kiss? What do you two even do?” She questions, quite loudly you might add. You rush into your office, pulling Angela by the arm, and almost slam the door shut behind you. Hopefully no one was eavesdropping on you two. 

“Christ Ange! I don’t want the whole lab to hear this!” You exclaim, throwing your bag onto your desk and almost throwing  your coffee down as well. If Zack were to overhear this conversation, you think you might burst into flames right in front of him. Embarrassment would be the death of you, and that is not the way you want to go out.

“What we do or do not do is no one else’s business,” You start with a huff, arms crossing to almost shield yourself. 

“We watch movies together, sometimes we go out to eat or take a walk through a park together. Normal couple stuff,” You explain, trying not to give her too many details about your supposed to be private relationship with the aforementioned forensic anthropologist. Angela locks onto the phrase ‘normal couple stuff’. Big mistake in saying that honestly. She smirks and gives you the look of ‘I’ve got you now’.

“Normal couple stuff huh? What is this so-called normal stuff you two do? I for sure have never seen it, even when we go out and celebrate after a good case win. It’s like you two just co-exist in the same area and call that dating,” She replies, still desperate and digging to know more about your relationship. And everyone knows that Angela will not give up until she gets what she wants. It’s practically useless to try and keep secrets from her.

“Hand holding and cuddling, what more do you want from me?” You ask, exasperated at her never ending line of questioning. You could usually handle her this early, but it was just one of those days apparently. 

“But no kissing? No sex? Oh honey, how do you do it?” She asks, giving you a look of sympathy and pity.

“How do I do it?! I’m not begging him to give me any of that! I am going at the pace that he is comfortable with,” You snap with an almost angry tone in your voice because of her insinuation that people can’t live without those items. You take a deep breath in, trying to calm yourself down before speaking again. Angela did not deserve you lashing out at her, even if her words rubbed you the wrong way.

“Do I wish for more? Of course I do. But I don’t want to drive him away. I… He is everything I want,” You confess, falling onto your chair and covering your burning face with your hands. 

“Oh… oh my god! You LOVE him?” Angela stutters out, surprised at your sudden confession. She was digging for information, sure, but she wasn’t expecting to get details this juicy from you. Your cheeks feel like they are on fire, embarrassment taking over your entire body. You couldn’t get up if you tried. Thankfully you don’t have to.

“Does he know? Does he know that you love him?” She asks, surprise still evident on her face. You can feel one of her hands coming up to rub your back soothingly, and it helps for just a second. 

“No, and I don’t think I could tell him… We haven’t even kissed. How do you tell someone that they mean everything to you when you haven’t even kissed them?” You whisper, clearly terrified at the notion of telling Zack. He is impossibly rational and scientific that confessing could mean the end of the relationship as you know it. Zack doesn’t deal with feelings that well, actually he doesn’t deal with them at all really. Regret at letting it slip to Angela hits you like a truck. You shouldn’t have told her, you should have kept it to yourself. Lord knows what she is going to do with that tidbit of information.

In her downtime between tasks on this case, Angela took to her usual scheming. Using your unintentional confession from the previous day, she began to plant the seeds of love and affection into Zack’s brain. Well, as much as she could due to his personality and logical reasoning.

“So Zack…” Angela says as she approaches Zack from behind on the platform. He is closely studying the screen that shows a zoomed in femur from the body laying on the examination table, not bothering to turn around and greet her. It is business as usual for him it seems.

“How are things with you and Y/N? You two have been dating for a while, right?” She questions, trying to get him to divulge his feelings (and information) to her. Without hesitating, Zack responds. 

“Yes, they have been my partner for approximately 6 months. Why do you ask?” Not even removing his gaze from the screen. His clipped response does nothing to dissuade Angela however, and she moves around him to block his view.

“I’ve never seen any affection between you two, no kisses or hugs ever. I just wanted to make sure that it was still going alright. Everyone in the lab is rooting for you two, ya know?” She explains, hands on her hips in that motherly way that she cares. Zack, not quite understanding her reasoning, tilts his head in response.

“I wasn’t aware that we needed to show affection in front of our coworkers,” He responds, narrowing his eyes as he speaks due to his confusion of this entire situation. Angela scoffs at his words, hands now moving to rest on the edge of the examination table 

“Do you even show it to each other, Zack? Y/N told me that you two have never kissed! I mean for how long you two have been dating, how much slower can you get?” She asks, an accusatory tone enveloping her voice. Not even picking up on the change of tone, Zack looks down at the femur and moves the camera out of the way. Most likely he is trying to distract himself with his work.

“I am taking it at the pace that they seem comfortable with,” He says, gaze focused onto the bone as if it will get him out of this interrogation. But, Angela is not going to let that comment slide since she has the hidden knowledge of your feelings.

“I think that’s the wrong answer,” She says, arms now crossed over her chest. Disapproval radiates off her body in waves.

“I think you are scared of kissing them,” Zack finally looks back up at Angela, a grimace spread across his face at her words. She really hit the nail on the head with that line. But who is surprised by that?

“I don’t want to ruin this relationship with them… I find them quite attractive and kind,” His voice winds down to a mutter, the confession almost missing Angela’s ears. She smiles and lets out a chuckle, poor little Zacky is so afraid to kiss his partner because they’re so attractive to him. What a problem for him to have.

“I say go for it anyways,” She shrugs, satisfied with the answer he gave her. Zack just continues to grimace at the idea of going through with that suggestion. Not because he doesn’t like you, no it’s because he likes you too much. There’s this tightening in his chest when you two snuggle up on your couch to watch movies. A fluttering feeling in his stomach when it's time to leave and you look so beautiful in the dim lights of your apartment. Maybe Angela is right and he should just go for it. Never being the impulsive one, maybe he should be. Just this once.

A shout of happiness is heard throughout the lab as you finally identified the pollen that was on the body. You launch yourself up from your chair and almost run to tell Cam. As you close in on the platform, you see only Zack standing there with his eyes focused on the zoomed in image of a mandible. Feeling the joy of spreading the news to anyone who would hear, you swipe your ID card and bound up the steps. 

“Zack!” You almost shout, startling him out of his focus. He turns to face you, clearly shocked at your joyful mood. 

“I figured out what the pollen on the body was! It took me a bit but it was clearly the pollen from a violet!” You exclaim, happy to share the finding with anyone who would listen at this point. It was a big find after all, seeing as how that pollen tells you that the body came into contact with those flowers at some point. It’s as you continue to ramble about the flowers in that genus that a gentle smile appears across Zack's face. Hearing you rant about your work so passionately awakens something in him. Not usually one to make the first move for anything, he takes the opportunity that presents itself.

“I mean some of the different species can be per-,” You are cut off by Zack grabbing your face in his hands and pulling you towards him. The moment your lips meet feels like you’re on cloud nine. A squeak leaves you at the suddenness, but your eyes quickly flutter shut at the sweet feeling of his slightly chapped lips on yours. This is better than anything you could have imagined. You pull away first, cheeks ablaze and eyes slowly opening to the glorious sight before. Zachary Uriah Addy is a blushing mess, his messy hair just accentuating the blissful look on his face. 

“Can you do that again?” You whisper, gazing lovingly at him, Zack smiles and enthusiastically nods. Telling Cam about your findings can wait. So long as Zack keeps kissing you like this.

i have talked alot about my problems with totk in detail, as most of you probably know by now- but there really is a vibe of big ambitions but then not committing to it throughout the game

they want to have that building mechanic in it no matter what in a world that isnt in any way build around it, mister "freedom = good, linear = bad" guy wanting to give you ultimate freedom in the game (which imo leads to it being nothing again) but not committing to it and it creates a really toxic loop of things being more punishing than rewarding

you can build a fuckton of weird vehicles, but big parts, ESPECIALLY the glider, is on limited time so you cant actually go anywhere you want; they know giving you absolut freedom will remove any possible challenge- so they limit it by making the glider part timed, but then they cant do that for every single part bc it would be almost impossible to create anything that works well when every part is on a timer and you dont know how much of its lifespan is left bc you accidentally hit a fan once so now its uneven with the other one AND the more parts you have the more it uses battery, it makes sense, so you cant build soemthign super overpowered right at the start and its just kinda logical, but it leads to you being incentivised to build something with the fewest parts that dont have a timer-

then theres the battery power, which they try to limit by putting its upgrades behind multiple different currency exchanges, which is frustrating and leads to alot of grinding and gets overpowered really fast (it works against itself too that said currencies are all placed in the most undeveleoped and repetetive area of the game and are all never involved in anything interesting, its reused old enemy camps and the same mines everywhere, theres not a single reward in the underground that actually feels rewarding imo)

then you get the autobuild thing, so you can skip the building part of the building mechanic that is the main selling point of tha darn game, bc they know it can get frustrating to rebuild your things over and over so they give you a skip button for that if you are one of those players that doesnt like it BUT THEN they cant jsut let you do it for free so they give it a price, either spend the same currency you need for the exchange for the one you need for battery upgrades or spend parts you collected- both of which are things players generally save up and refuse to use (like the -never use any health potions bc what if i need it more at some point- thing is a problem for a reason)

then theres the added thing of the building stuff despawning incredibly quickly, im gonna guess its otherwise a performance problem (that the game is already struggling hard with) but it makes the entire already bad loop of trying to fix a problem with bandaids over and over even worse, you dont want to go too far away from your vehicles bc it will despawn and waste all that you used to build it, its like a leash to you stopping you from actually using it for more freedom- and potentially adds another annyoance bc you might try to bring it with you as far as you can, a monster truck in the depths you spend all your parts on gets stuck on the first bits of terrain you run into and you desperately try to get it out without destroying it, and if you cant you need to spend a ton of resources to build it again, even with autobuild

which is how you get the hoverbike, stupidly overpowered and boring but doing anything else is just less efficient in every way, it uses the least amount of battery, never breaks, is only 3 parts to rebuild

(i know me in particular doesnt enjoy the building in totk at all, for all those reasons and more ...... shiekah ........ and i know you CAN still choose to doing it more creatively, but you never need to, its entirely based around YOU making it fun for yourself, and i dont think its that controverisal to say a game should be fun and challenging without you having to create all the fun yourself and set yourself limit it all yourself)

similar goes for the dungeons, they heard you want the dungeons of old times back, but their strict adherance to freedom (which they themsleves contradict) leads to them being more breakable and less dungeony than even the titans in botw, they cant make it linear, thats BAD, so you can do any puzzle in any order, it cant build on any of the others bc you need to be able to do it when you want (the only one going slightly against that is the lightning one? maybe?), totks dungeons dont even limit that you cant climb them (even the titans in botw recognized that makign it easy to break so they are made of the same unclimbable material like the shrines and other shiekah tech) and the new abilities make them laughably easy to break ( .. im not even gonna mention the water temple one bc ... you dont even need to do anything there to break it to make it easier)

they wanted to cater to people wanting old dungeons, but didnt commit to it, making them WORSE dungeons than the titans with the only bonus being they got different designs and a longer build up to it (that often feels more like artificial filler than actually part of it ... like the missing lore tablet at the zoras and the missing part is a few steps away from it at best)

(ALL THE WHILE they DO limit you in SHRINES, you cant climb the walls again, for some reason, you can climb any other sonau structure though, why not that? idk, but dont limit it enough either bc you can break it all in really cheap and unsatisfying ways with ultrahand and time reversal alone- and they CANT limit those bc those abilities are the main ways to solve the 'puzzles'- botws abilities were .. well, limited in what they could do making them much more balanced, but moving sth with ultrahand and then stepping on it and time reversing it can be the boring solution to any 'puzzle', the best and only really good shrines are the ones that take all you shit bc it wactually forces you to be creative BC ITS LIMITING YOU)

(funnily enough a big possible reason why they removed the bombs from botw is bc of the glitches with it ...... like the new stuff isnt even worse and you dont even have to try lol)

people speculated on there being underground exploration due to the first trailer? people are worried about reusing the surface? ok they put the entirety of the surface map into the game again, but dont commit to it being a full thing, its horribly underdeveloped and filled with either nothing or reused filler material, while also neglecting changing anything substantial about the surface, and then the sky isalnds they even reduced and really there isnt anything of substance on there either besides the tutorial (hey, seriously, if one of botws most defining feature is its wide and empty sky why the hell would you decide to use that same map to put in your sky islands idea in), not commiting to one idea but doing all of them badly

ganondorf? well, they sure put him in there, but really what does he do? fuck all, the entire actual game hes jsut marinating in his own miasma juice for no reason, he doesnt have any presecne in the game, all he gets its a few scenes in the "story" that are told through memory cutscenes in a stupidly mega distant past i dont give a fuck about and all he does is go through the most stereotypical villain checklist of both actions and speech, they want ganondorf in there but dont commit to him ACTUALLY being there (listen i love ganondorf but really calamtiy ganon was more interesting than totk ganondorf ok im SORRY they did him so dirty)

they want dragon zelda and link 'losing' his arm be a big epic sacrifice but then .. again, dont commit to it, they tell you its oooh so irreversible and whatever and then at the end just fukcing reverse it, with no build up at all, and NONE of your own input, it just happens, and its not JUST zelda but also links arm, reversing it BOTH even and you dont even need to have all shrines (that are supposedly to cleanse your arm of miasma, i guess thats a non problem if you just stab the source of it to death instead)

they want it to be a sequel but also its own game, not committing to either and leaving us with this weird .... more alternative universe thing, vague references to botw but also acting like it never happened, slight changes, like zeldas hair, to make her seem different when shes exactly the same (you cant imply waifu zelda would ever age and not look like a little doll) and ignoring anything about her character from botw (no im serious, ooh shes nerdy for 3 minutes at the start and one time in a written thing from some servant of da royals in the past and thats it, interest in the shiekah? whos shiekah?- if anything her character is reversed, really having even less agency than in botw, that one decision to dragon is like, it really doesnt matter and not really her decision bc she didnt have a choice and it gets reversed anyway without her even remembering)

even retreading all of botws points (but doing it worse imo), but then attempting to differentiate itself from it by removing a big thing that made it what it is (shiekah) without giving it any or any sensible explanation among more, not committing to either sequel or AU and so doing both incredibly badly

(not quite the point but what i have been questioning for a while ... they way raurus abilities work ... so do all sonau have those? was it just a normal thing to have? could all sonau just glue shit together and jump through ceilings? he never uses anything of that when we see him? why is it just in the shrines at the start and its like .. he just gives it to you ...?? huh??is it part of his arm .. jewelry??)

(anyway, tin foil hat moment but it just feels like either there was a huge internal fight about everything or they neglected it in favor for something else, like say, a movie that earns them billions and is faster and cheaper to make than a game... or just dont care anymore i guess, idk which is worse tbh)

see if i had been the one to write romantica and terrorist i definitely would have definitely aged up shinobu and misaki. And its not just that i find it icky to have grown ass men dating these barely legal boys (i mean yeah it kinda is the main reason,,) but because i genuinely feel it would add more to both their characters???

Just like the original, lets say Misaki makes it out of high school at 18, as any normal teenager would. Takahiro offers to get him a tutor for his college entrance exams, but he refuses: he wants to do it on his own (bc when doesnt he🙄).

So he tries to make it into college and fails; but thats ok, not everyone makes it on their first try, he can always try again. A year later he is 19, he tries again, and he fails again,, but he did a little better than the last time! He just has to keep trying, maybe third time will be the charm? So another year passes, he is 20 now, he tries again,, and fails again.

At this point Misaki is starting to lose it. To be entirely honest, he doesn’t even care that much about college. He is not passionate about anything in particular, so he would have no issue just finding a job in whatever and figuring it out from there. Thats what his brother did after all, and he turned out great!

His brother… wasnt Takahiro why Misaki wanted to make it into Mitsuhashi in the first place? He has done so much for him these past years, he owes him this much. But no matter how hard he tries to memorize or what study technique he attempts, he just cant do it. And this process isnt so easy for Takahiro either: he hates nothing more in this world than to see his little brother so helpless.

At some point after the third failed attempt, Takahiro brings up again the possibility of getting a tutor. So far, Misaki had been denying it because it’s his nature to not want to be a burden to anyone else, and he wanted to prove that he was capable of doing this on his own. But the fact that not only he is not making his brother proud (or so he thinks), but that he is actively burdening Takahiro by letting him see him so distressed, is finally enough to shatter Misaki’s pride.

Now, given the urgency of the situation, Takahiro cant afford having Misaki test the waters with any stranger, so he decides to put his trust on the smartest person he knows. And that is how Misaki Takahashi, age 20, accepts the help of prolific writer Usami Akihiko out of desperation and makes it into college :)

From here on the story runs its course normally (a couple other changes here and there, but thatd be another day’s yap). I also like the effect it would have on Misaki’s psyche to feel so behind his classmates. He made it into college at 21, an age where other people are starting to think about graduation; and there is nothing wrong with this, but Misaki is not gonna see it this way; he is definitely gonna think this makes him not enough (and comparing himself with everything Takahiro had to achieve at 18 in order for them to survive, and maybe also having Fuyuhiko throw this to his face at any given opportunity bc ofc he would definitely wouldn’t help :/).

Now Shinobu. In this scenario he would be making it out of high school (18) when he first interacts with Miyagi and finds out he is gonna marry his sister and it breaks his heart and all that jazz. And so out of spite he moves to Australia to study college there.

A few years pass by and he has just turned 21. He is about to enter his fifth semester of uni, has had amazing grades and even got himself a nice job in the Japanese embassy in Australia (iirc he studies law???); so far it's just to assist on minor administrative matters, but by the look of it he might actually escalate to a more important spot sooner or later! So life is very much smiling at Shinobu until,, oh! Guess who just got divorced!!!

Now, any normal rational adult would've not given this too much mind; but if the canon supports me on anything it's on the fact that Shinobu is not a normal rational adult. He never really made it past his crush on Miyagi, but at the time he let it go, aside from the obvious, bc he knew he wasn't fit for Miyagi just yet. But now he is an adult by any stance of the law, and he had done so much with his life, and Miyagi is available now so,, what exactly would be stopping them?

And so he does the last thing a normal rational adult would've done: he makes it back to Japan, makes his attack on Miyagi, and the plot goes on as it would (you can even keep a reinterpreted version of Shinobu's college entrance exams from the original!!! He is gonna have to find a way to continue with his studies after all,,). I like to think, in a way, this shows just how much was Shinobu willing to sacrifice in order to follow this so called destiny; he practically had his life figured out in Australia, and yet that silly little feeling turned out to be stronger.

I also feel maturity would become a really major theme in this version of terrorist. Like Shinobu thinks he is apt for Miyagi now bc he is legally an adult, so he SHOULD have the maturity it takes to be with him (which could also translate to Shinobu trying to rush himself into ~certain~ things in order to prove himself worthy to Miyagi). But maturity doesn't work that way; it's not about how old you are but how much have you lived, and at the end it will turn out not even Miyagi is mature enough to have a relationship like this. But that's ok, because now they can grow together into being apt for each other :)

And ALSO!!!!! this doent even have to cancel the whole reincarnation theory (Miyagi's teacher reincarnating into Shinobu as her death and his birth would happen very closely to each other), or the fact that Shinobu mirrors young Miyagi. My issue with terrorist was never the age gap in itself (that's kinda what makes the story interesting xdxd), so what the fuck. Make Miyagi have his crush on his teacher at 21,, keep him twice Shinobu's age,, make Miyagi (42) truly deserve the old man title (not really but y'know) !!!!!!

(also this is all bull this whole thing is part of my yuri au where they are all women, and I myself am 20, so in a way having misaki and shinobu so close in age to me allows me to use usamisa and miyanobu (and also yukisa) as scapegoats for my own fixation for older women 😋)
