Thank you for the ask! I appreciate it :) They are all Cyberpunk 2077 things lol. I’ve largely been a lurker in other fandoms until this one, and this is the first one that finally compelled me to make stuff and that I’ve had the bravery to share. Don’t have many snippets at the moment, all of what I have so far is already out there. Since you asked for all of them though, I shall dish and give you a bit of a peak behind the curtain on how all this got started…

SIG - So It Goes

(The title is based off the radio song from the game that you can listen to on Morro Rock. Never officially released and credited to the fictional band Fingers and the Outlaws in the game. Officially sung by Ryan Kattner, the front singer of the band Man Man.)

SIG is my current V/River conspiracy theory long fic that I’m working on, and the project is coming up on its two year anniversary. It’s also my first fic. I’m hoping to wrap it up this spring so I can move on to other creative endeavors. There are a lot of art projects, fandom and non-fandom related, that I’ve held off on because of this and I miss those hobbies. I also feel like I’ve been missing out a lot in the writing corner of the fandom too because a lot of new writers have popped up on the scene since I started (back when there was still a monopoly on the tag, but that’s a different story) and everyone else seems to be having fun reading everyone else’s fics, except me… Reading’s complicated for me right now. Writing this had a lot of ups and downs, but overall I’ve loved telling this story, learned a lot, and I’m really proud of it!

I think most people get into fic writing for the ships, the romance, the smut, the processing of internalized trauma, a more satisfactory ending, weird niche interests… And don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of appeal with all that, and definitely those aspects in my own work. But this whole thing got started because of conspiracy theories. I fucking love mysteries and puzzles, so after playing the sun ending and then I spotting Mr. Blue Eyes on the balcony during the conclusion of Dream On, I just about lost my damn mind. I went down the rabbit hole, spent hours reading shards and messages in the game, combed reddit theory posts, and started picking up on all the hints and foreshadowing of something larger looming throughout the game.

I initially didn’t have any answers when I made the decision to start this fic (fuck, high probability I still don’t), it was largely me brainstorming and trying to figure out what kind of story I wanted to write. Seeing if I could even piece things together. But in the process of thinking all that through, I came up with this little theory. I thought it was pretty mind blowing at the time (still think it is) but it’s been my little secret since I got here and I’m very anxious to finally share it.

Most people probably would have just written a theory post and been done with it, but I decided to turn mine into a fan fic lol. Which may or not have been a mistake, we’ll see. This is either gonna be game changing or everyone is going to think it’s dumb and I’m gonna be wearing a dunce cap for the next fifty years.

River Ward. The other half of my reason for writing this fic. I actually wasn’t sure if I liked him at first, it took me a while to warm up to him. But the more I got to know him, the more I started to like him. The more he grew on me. He got hotter over time. Plus, I’ve got a fondness for detective characters and unusual coats, so I should’ve seen it coming.

River’s gotten a lot of flak from this fandom. People claim he’s boring. He’s a cop, so acab. Being unemployed and living in a trailer park with your sister, niece, and nephews isn’t a particularly redeeming quality. I don’t agree with most of those statements, but I do agree with the folks who do appreciate his character, that in terms of development, he absolutely got shafted in the game. This fic is also an attempt to rectify that.

For as underdeveloped as his story arc was, there’s a lot of nuance to his character that I think gets glossed over by the game and most people. We didn’t get much, but out of what we did get, it’s been interesting trying to piece a story together that’s in line with what we got. And I did mention earlier that I like puzzles.

I’ve noticed that a lot of folks tend to lean very hard into the cop aspect of his character, but as far as I’m concerned, River Ward doesn’t give a shit about the law. Conducting an off the record investigation, intimidating a confidential informant, illegally obtaining evidence, breaking into a restricted lab, committing arson for your ex so she can pass a medical exam, conducting another investigation after being suspended; those are not the actions of a man who holds the letter of the law above all else. Those are the actions of man who is determined to get to the bottom of things, and protect people, all while navigating a system that is anything but equitable or fair. They are the actions of a man who is willing to go above and beyond for the people he cares about, even to his own detriment. His own safety. For River Ward, it was never about the law, it’s about justice. And pursuing that sometimes involves breaking the rules.

River is also Pomo. Which is something that was only added in subsequent patches, heavily glossed over in the game, and is only disclosed if you choose to actually romance him. But he’s Indigenous. Native American. And yet he still made a conscious decision to join the NCPD. Given the historical participation by law enforcement and government institutions in North America, and around the world, in the cultural erasure and mass genocide of entire nations, tribes, and communities of people. And given the current state of issues regarding law and judicial enforcement on tribal lands, I think River's character is a rather poignant reflection. Of wanting to good, of wanting the world to be better, but being confined in systems that simply won't allow that. There's a billion other little details I could ramble on about, but his character had the capacity to walk a very fine line of complexities which the game never really did justice to.

Diversity and representation in media are important to me, and I want this fic to reflect that. Being bi-racial, I didn’t get very much of it growing up, so if I can provide representation, even in some small capacity, I think it’s better than nothing. And while I don’t know if I’m achieving that, well, shit if I’m not trying.

I wouldn’t say this story was really meant to be original, but rather to fill in the gaps on the story we got and for me to practice writing. Practice telling a story. CP2077 is a violent game set in a violent world. And I somehow managed to start writing a story that accidentally ended up being a love letter to aikido. (Much to my chagrin. It’s everywhere. In everything. I cannot escape it.) Aikido is a martial art that translates “to the way of peace” or “the path of harmony.” Yet again, another study in dichotomies. How can a martial art, an art form designed to inflict violence, be peaceful? Aikido is as much of a martial art as it is a philosophy. We train to practice and learn that philosophy.

One of the major themes I’m exploring in this fic series is the nature of violence. What it is, the forms it takes, how cyclical it is, that it is a relationship - violence requires your participation. So the question ends up being: how do you break cycles of violence when you live in a world where you are beholden to it? V and River are very much two characters that are caught up in cycles of violence. Will they find peace? I don’t know, but maybe they can find out together.

From The Top

(This one isn’t named after a song. I just decided to start from the beginning.)

From The Top is the VP project I started up last spring where I’ve been taking storyboard style photos of all the main missions. Plus whatever else I feel like. I take all of my photos on PS5 in vanilla photomode and randomly started snapping pictures just because. I did landscape photos, shared a few. Got a bit of nice feedback from people who cared to look and then started branching out. I eventually got to the point where I started a new playthrough for the sole purpose of snapping photos.

Taking VP is very different from writing for me. I don’t have to think about. I don’t agonize about making sure every tiny detail is just right, because for the most part I don’t have very much control It’s candid, intuitive, experimental, it’s straight up play. I simply wait for opportunities to present themselves and capture whatever I think looks or feels interesting to me. It’s easy for me to walk away from it if it doesn’t do well when I post. Unlike my writing, there’s no ego attached to it.

I’m getting to the tail end of this project, I still have a couple of the base game missions to get through, but I’d also like to do Phantom Liberty as well. Not sure what my VP career is going to look like after this, might go into soft retirement. But that’s okay.

NR - Night Running

Is a sleeper wip that’s currently in the notes, brainstorming, and kitchen drawer phase. It’s part 2 of my Nothing Comes Before Night City series. So It Goes is part 1.

It takes a long time for me to mull over and ruminate on ideas, so this document is largely just a repository for notes and thoughts. Jamming the utensils in the drawer until I’m ready to organize them. I have a very broad idea of what I’d like to happen in this fic, key moments I’d like to hit, but there’s still a lot of refinement that needs to happen, and stories this involved require me outlining. I do already have a running set list of songs to draw from though.

Les Preludes

Another sleeper wip, also in the brainstorming phase. These are meant to be one-shots or short stories from the Nothing Comes Before Night City series. Moments I mentioned in the series, but can’t fit into the larger story. Character studies and background lore from V, River, Johnny, Jackie, a couple of OCs and whatever else I can think of.

I will probably start casually working on these after I finish SIG and while I’m outlining NR. I’d like the series to go in chronological order. Should be fun. And I think it’ll be good practice for being more concise. Unlike, this response...

did dynasty elaborately use their last gay character standing being biphobic as an allegory for how demanding and ungrateful they believe their gay audience is? is this just another piece in a long-term pattern from dynasty to get back at their lgbt audience? am i giving them too much credit by thinking they’re smart enough to be that evil? let’s discuss.

(this post will contain un-tagged talk about biphobia within the lgbt community as well as community infighting in online queer spaces. it’s pride month! if talking about those topics is going to (reasonably) bum you out, please skip this post at least for now!)

this is the most negative thing i have ever written about dynasty and will likely be the ONLY post of its kind that i ever write. it’s impossible not to talk about the writing, cast, crew, etc of this show and be 100% just about the plots because there will often be overlap in terms of the how and the why of it. this will be the only post that i put here that focuses on critiquing the overall running of dynasty’s production and patterns of poor decision making over the course of the past five years. as i say on all of my fandom social media, often, i have overwhelmingly positive feelings about dynasty and find heavy comfort in it. if i want to write 4.1k words about something about it that has always felt a little ‘off’, im gna do that. :)

back during the final stretch of season 4, i distinctly remember talking with some friends about our feelings towards the show (as we often do) and while i'm possibly the least jaded in both my circle of friends and my online circles of other dynasty viewers, i do have some lines that i would absolutely drop the show like a hot pan for.

they're SUPER distinct and clear lines that are less personally-triggering and moreso things that would feel distinctly like the writers either a) were intentionally trying to hurt certain demographics of their audience or, possibly just as bad, b) were genuinely too out of touch to realize the ramifications of. dynasty features plenty content that i find triggering on a personal level but as a general rule, i know that there is a separation between things that upset me individually and things that are related to doing more serious damage. sometimes these things overlap (an example, which i'll obviously be talking about liberally in this post, being homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, etc). so, while i have certain things that i wince away from every time dynasty shoves at us - looking at you, the beaten-to-death horse known as 'people being drugged against their will as a comedy trope' - i put up with it.

as a sidenote, i think that the twitter timeline during episode 5.15 was a really great example of what sorts of buttons people won't allow others to push. the biphobic comment in the episode was hurtful enough for bisexual people to have to hear at all, but on top of that, the who - what - where of it all was even more insidious than it may have seemed on a surface level to people who saw their mutuals talking about it without being part of the dynasty sphere.

in 4.15, we were introduced to eva. she was cute, she was fun, she was there to be fallon's new assistant (funnily enough, the replacement for allison - the only canonically wlw character at the time since amanda wouldn't appear until the following episode), and then of course, to be a foil for falliam. the concept of there being any credible foil to falliam was ALREADY laughable at this point. i'm not even going to bother touching on how deeply predictable and boring the very concept of the writers thinking any of us truly believe they would do anything interesting or dangerous with them. i was bopping along in season 4, minding my business, discussing my theories with my friends and other people online and hehe-ing about how boring the eva-likes-liam thing was when i woke up in a cold sweat one night with a horrifying thought: what if the writers shake things up for fucking once in terms of falliam? what if this won't be their 500th predictable stupid storyline? what if eva is going to try to break up falliam because she likes fallon and not liam?

it turns out i was giving them too much credit in that department, so i lived to keep watching the show another day. that had been my own paranoid theory that i immediately jumped into the groupchat with to say ‘ok i found it, i found what i would stop watching dynasty for’. they were already pushing the stalking angle with eva and fallon’s previous stalker had been the only east asian representation on dynasty ever. if they said ‘ok lets do that storyline again but with a creepy predatory GIRL KISSER’ i think i would have had to tap out.

another sidenote - i love hearing about people’s ‘what i would stop watching dynasty for’ moments. everyone’s different thoughts are so different and every time someone has told me one of theirs its usually something i didn’t even consider, but realized their fear of it happening was definitely still rooted in logic based on the way certain storylines go in this show.

dynasty's relationship with its lgbt audience has always been shaky at best and borderline emotional terrorism at its worst. from the outright refusal for a wlw character (which even then, was still a bit of a 'gotcha' at the audience) until its final stretch despite long ago having shifted from a series about the scandals of business with social and emotional stories woven in to a nearly sitcom-esque y.a. romance, or the fact that sammy jo is literally the last gay standing, the lgbt viewers have long resigned to a state of refusing to expect anything and shitposting about it for fun to keep things light. it's a cw show. plenty of the audience for dynasty - cishet AND lgbt - have experienced them before. for the lgbt audience, we're all seasoned veterans when it comes to navigating passive-aggressive feedback from the production teams and sometimes even cast members, not to mention the blatant and aggressive homophobia from other fans who don't fit into the same minority groups that a lot of us do and have no lived experience to draw any empathy from.

i think a lot of writers for television - a lot of which are specific to the cw though if i were to start naming examples from their recent catalogue, i would be here all day - learned fairly early on that blatant homophobia causes outrage which obviously causes buzz. this makes for great television writing because it very much gives the straight audience something to be surprised by and interested in. often the best of the self-proclaimed straight allies often for some reason love to see an act of homophobia and yell "i am NOT like that, by the way!" without doing much else, but it makes them feel good at the end of the day nonetheless. they get to think about the hardships that lgbt people face for a few minutes, go "oh jeez, how awful" which obviously makes them incredible people and there you have it. this is great news for television writers, as being the writer puts you in a position to 'make up a guy and then get mad at him' (for the record, this is bad when people do it random political discourse, not in television for the most part. 'make up a guy and ___' is sort of the basis of writing, that isn't the issue here). the thing is, those scenes where lgbt people face discrimination are not 'feel good' moments for the lgbt audience, usually. just like in real life, the other shoe dropping where the writers add in a little "and then the homophobe gets his just desserts" doesn't really heal the shock or hurt for anyone except their straight audience. when i get yelled at or threatened in public and a well-meaning ally steps up and tells the person harassing me to go fuck themselves, i still just experienced being harassed. i may be thankful to the person who used their power to help me, but i still was, for a moment, in a position where i needed help.

homophobia exists, obviously, and shows set in the real world will obviously have moments where it is appropriate to weave it into the story. no one is arguing this much. the issue is that certain shows, and dynasty is not the only show that deserves this critique, will not have any real intention to dedicate time or care to this issue. i've spoken a lot about how i prefer that the newer seasons of dynasty stop trying when it comes to touching on serious issues because their track record of trying to do things tactfully hasn't been good since season 1.

the other side of this blade is that we've now experienced two instances of anti-lgbt rhetoric from within canon, and both times it has been from lgbt characters.

in season 2, we had beto - cristal's brother who is aggressively homophobic specifically towards sam but plot twist! it was because he was into sam and was just shamefully closeted all along. audiences pushed back HARD against that across social media and explained why the rhetoric that lgbt people are really our own worst enemies was so dangerous - the cast or crew obviously didn't comment, which they generally don't so that wasn't strange - but the cishet audience did make sure to put on their best meat-gargling britches and let the lgbt audience know that if we were so unhappy with what we got, we could go watch something else and leave them alone.

in season 5, we got the pride party episode. i call it the pride party episode because while the actual pride party took up maybe about 8 total minutes of screen time, it was what the cast and crew posted the majority of their behind the scenes content from and it was obviously meant to be the draw as it did air during pride month. for those who haven't watched yet or have been scouring for spoilers after seeing the tweets and different social media posts talking about it, here's your context:

sam begins to feel like he's an irrelevant gay in atlanta so he enlists the help of kirby and culhane to throw the biggest pride party of the weekend and get his status back. kirby and culhane put together a big party but same is unhappy with it (in their defense, his 'theme' was call me by your name / twink / leather daddy realness. with a drag performance. i think that since THAT was such a word salad of gay terminology that make no cohesive sense together, they just assumed he didn't know what he was talking about and was going to be cool with rainbow streamers and edm). he blows up and refers to culhane as a 'bad ally' and calls kirby 'just gay whenever it's convenient' - both comments he later apologizes for in the same breath because they were OBVIOUSLY on the same level of offensive (he also, at one earlier point, refers to them as allies together and while i don't know if it was intentional or not, it kind of felt more like a writers flub moreso than a dig at kirby but i could be wrong. kirby was sam's token straight for so long that it might just be muscle memory). he gets a quick pep talk from angeria paris vanmichaels and admits that he was actually just insecure about his gayness.

i've already said that it's harmful for straight people (though gay people also parrot this rhetoric too sometimes) to either make jokes about or outright seriously claim that people who perpetuate the most homophobia are insecure or closeted gay people. add on top of that that dynasty has now TWICE ‘addressed’ homo/bi/transphobia and both times have been by lgbt characters. i’m also in the conspiracy-theory camp of believing that fanworks for dynasty have, in the past, influenced the direction of the show or inspired plots and tropes used, and while kirby anders was always an icon for the wlw audience since before she was even introduced, fanworks that featured fan-interpretations of her as a wlw character often weren’t shy about talking about the implications that that would have if it were to fit into the canon of the show. some headcanons and fan-created works became common use among the wlw fandom and while they had no basis in canon they were considered ‘canon’ in the fan-verse where kirby was wlw - all of this pre-wlw-canon kirby, of course. a personal favorite in a lot of wlw fanworks for dynasty was the concept that alexis carrington, historically not a homophobe, would be perfectly okay with her daughter (either or, depending on your persuasion) dating another woman - but NEVER if it were kirby, turning the homophobic character trope on its head.

what distinctly stood out to me once the smoke cleared from hearing the most wattpad-villain-esque overused line of biphobia from, again, the ONLY remaining gay man on the show, was exactly why sam saying it was so much more unsettling than just your run of the mill ‘homophobes are just mean gays’ tropery. earlier when i mentioned that the lgbt audience of dynasty tend to approach things in a sort of resigned way, i probably should have clarified that ‘expects nothing good’ comes in a wide range of flavours, spanning from ‘cautious but refusing to be hopeful’ (shoutout to kamanda nation) all the way to ‘blatantly giggling at all of the cw’s attempts to garner interest’. my dynasty twitter timeline and groupchats leading up to ‘the pride party episode’ since it was announced were a constant stream of shitposting and sarcastic claims that it would be a trainwreck that everyone was deeply excited to watch happen (“the cw is kicking the air right now demanding to know why they still aren’t allowed to say the f slur after putting a rainbow border on their page”).

there are plenty of common biphobic talking points. like every single group within the lgbt community, lack of understanding or empathy for one another who have different experiences than we do can cause ignorance and hurt. in my personal opinion, ‘queer discourse’, as its often all lumped together as, can do its part to help us educate one another on our own unique histories and experiences while it can also be a jumping-off point for hatred and circular, senseless arguing. also in my personal opinion, when it comes to queer discourse, or more often than not, community infighting, it should be entirely left up to those groups involved. i will listen to and value the opinion of someone that disagrees with me (to a reasonable extent, obviously) who i share a space with over the opinion of someone who agrees with me but has no idea what they’re talking about. for this reason, i obviously do not care about cishet opinions on queer issues. the internet evolves and expands incredibly quickly. online queer discourse used to be mainly reserved for deep tumblr: sideblogs and instant messages and google docs with links to talking points and sources in case one was ever backed into a corner in an argument. now, queer discourse has become such a massive part of the average twitter experience (not to mention tiktok) that its caught the attention of cishet people in a very strange way. not only have people with zero lived experience began to pay attention to what inter-community issues that the lgbt community are discussing, they’ve also pushed themselves into the discussions.

it's not difficult at all, nowadays, for any straight television writer with a twitter account to not only a) find an lgbt issue to exploit clumsily for a quick plot or b) find an lgbt issue to exploit to have their audience do the fighting for them. a personal favorite example of mine is 7-season CW hatecrime The 100. their mistreatment of lesbian character lexa and wildly archaic use of the dead lesbian trope (which, while overlapping often, is not to be confused with the bury your gays trope) upset audiences on a catastrophic level. the interesting part, though, was that the bisexual female lead would go on to endgame with the male cishet lead in the wake of the death of her lesbian love interest. this was obviously upsetting to the lesbian audience for the obvious reasons that being brutally killed off (in a very specific way, too, which is worth looking up if you’re interested in queer fandom history) in order to make room for another m/f relationship. however, any lgbt person who has spent more than a few minutes in literally any queer discourse space online would be privy to the fact that lesbians and bisexual women can sometimes carry a certain tension when it comes to discussions about validity. this is not a queer discourse blog and i’m not going to delve into the talking points surrounding this, but it is important for me to point out that those talks DO take place in a lot of queer online spaces, and since online fandom is often a relatively queer space itself, the discussions do bleed together sometimes. that’s why it was so genius (in a sociopathic sort of way) for the cast, crew, and writer’s room of the 100 to listen to the lesbians crying about the representation being yanked out from under them and go “you hear that, bisexual audience? the lesbians are mad because YOU aren’t gay enough for them on this show.”

i didn’t watch the 100. i was about to start it the week that they killed off lexa which i personally think was one of the top 10 bullets dodged in history. but EVERYONE in online fandom spaces, myself included, knows what happened and experienced it in some regard. the 100 became a piece of history for the resulting terrible pr that they got for the writing choice as well as their unprofessional and batshit insane handling of the aftermath. the cw to this day has never made a mistake so serious again but the lasting effects of pitting one’s lgbt audience against each other to avoid accountability has never left, and the cw specifically is famous for its use of audience infighting to avoid effort and quality when it comes to lgbt storylines. sam’s biphobic comment hit hard in that way, because the writers got to throw that in and step back and go “whoa now hey it wasn’t us! it was the gay guy. obviously!”

and his phrasing, “gay when its convenient” - while also not an uncommon biphobic soundbite - was hilariously something that dynasty’s lgbt audience have been saying for years. after steammy was wiped off the map as a couple and sam was written into a few forgettable guy of the month romances with minimal screentime to keep cashing in one being able to put SOMETHING in the ‘we promise we have diversity’ montages that the cw keeps getting fucking clowned for posting (seriously, why do they keep posting those ads? i have NEVER seen a healthy comment section under one of them) they finally seemed to find their footing to utilize rafael de la fuente’s talent in a meaningful way. his drama work is unreal. he manages to hit his comedy beats even when the writing is clearly below him and elevates it every time. this of course had to come at the cost of dropping a lot of the romance from his storyline which would be perfectly fine - perhaps even welcome especially in these later seasons - were he not the only opportunity for the mlm audience to have someone they can relate to.

dynasty’s cishet audience commenting about how the moment amanda was canonized as wlw that it was ‘too soon’ to start putting her into relationships was the usual level of tone-deaf and blatantly un-self-aware that lgbt audiences have been putting up with since the dawn of time.

‘gay when its convenient’ has been something that the lgbt audiences have been accusing dynasty of since the first season came and went without a hint of fallon carrington looking twice at a girl, after liz gillies said that she could definitely see fallon as a bisexual woman. dynasty's answer to lgbt people asking for representation - PROPER representation - has always been met with either crumbs (rip allison!) or a sort of weird derisive 'here's what we have for you - YOU are actually VERY stupid for thinking we wouldn't give it to you and i think that says more about how miserable you all are than it does about us as a television show' vibe. fallon's offhanded comment about 'having always had a thing for princess frostine' in 2.12 was not a 'win' for bisexual representation, either. at the time, it almost felt like a smug little slap in the face to the people who were flooding online anonymous forums to scream and cry "STOP saying fallon likes girls" at the wlw audience. rewatching it even a day later felt like a slap in the face to the lgbt audience who claimed that the show didn't have enough queer characters. the line meant nothing and went no where - it was just a reminder that "she's right HERE you blind idiots, stop asking us for more gay women".

pre-kamanda, dynasty consistently told us that we had all of the representation we needed. we have a gay guy who pops in to say random gay-isms (who was once a success story about an undocumented immigrant from an abusive household that struggled and cheated and did what he could to survive among billionaires) once or twice per episode, and we have fallon, who sometimes slaps women on the ass as they walk by, or whatever. the lgbt audience came up with our own ships and our own silly in-universe ideas to keep us busy while we sat through whatever new trope the writers wanted to half-ass with falliam for the majority of the episode. and, since we thought, only having historical patterns to base our expectations on, that we were never going to get anything, we let our own fan-canon and faux-theories get wilder and sillier despite the usual obstacles whether that was the writers making them moot with canon on accident or the literal cast of the show mocking us publicly based on their own misunderstanding of the concepts at hand (as an aside: cast and crew’s of shows and movies interacting with fanworks is not only their given right but also often very welcome. that being said, at the end of the day it was never for them, though that is a topic for another day).

kamanda was not only a breath of fresh air in terms of finally having something a little more lighthearted and fun without feeling like a waste of time to focus on, but it brought back audience that had long-since jumped ship (often around early to mid season 4).

even then, there was something sort of ‘off’ about the whole feeling. these aren’t my personal opinions because i didn’t see amanda’s introduction, kirby’s wlw canonization, or kamanda in general anything other than an (embarrassingly fucking late) agreement to finally give the wlw audience what we’ve been asking for for the last five years: real (fictional) women in a real (fictional) relationship, a privilege granted to literally everyone else on the show since the very beginning, in a show that had increasingly dropped most of its plotting to focus solely on romance and interpersonal relationships. i did however see static and enter discussions about the a) aggressive cancellation season last-ditch attempt to be relatable and b) a redirect of the wlw audience’s attention away from firby - arguably the most popular dynasty ship behind falliam, pre-kamanda. i’m literally still in the middle of a giant unhinged post about the history of firby fandom and its eventual replacement by kamanda so i’m not going to go into a lot of detail about it here. the main takeaway there is that the way in which dynasty hands us our representation often feels like we’re supposed to feel bad about it once we get it. not in the ‘here’s representation but they’re BAD’ way, but in a ‘how dare you have ever doubted us, why are you even here if you’re so angry with us’ sort of way. i would consider that my own paranoia and overthinking and just assuming that i’m feeling sorry for myself had i not realized across multiple platforms how widespread that weird ‘guilty’ feeling is when it comes to being lgbt in dynasty fandom.

the biphobia is the core issue at hand - full stop. bisexual audiences did not need to hear something like that and especially not coming from a show that consistently backs out of touching on real-world issues by claiming that the show is meant to be an escape and therefore wouldn't be fair to the audience. the bisexual audience do not qualify for such escapism.

however what this obnoxiously long rant of a post is also poking at is that sam's biphobic comment not only shocked and hurt the bisexual audience but it added to an overarching message that the lgbt audience have been having yelled at us by dynasty for the past five years, usually RIGHT whenever we feel comfortable and safe, and that's that sure, this show is going to upset us sometimes but that's the real world, and symbolically, we really only have ourselves to blame.

although i hate unpredictable situations and having to quickly adapt to new settings, i think i adapt pretty quickly too. flexible? easy-going? idk what’s the right way to call it but yeah something along those lines. good at it but i still enjoy my stability and calm don’t want to have to quickly adapt to new situations.

very emotional HAHAH used to be much worse but i often let my emotions rule my head. i think i’ve improved A LOT though i used to be so bad but i think i’m now able to make rational decisions even if im bawling LMFAO

this sounds like a compliment but i’ve been told this too often as well. i tend to be way too nice to people who don’t deserve it. even if the person doesn’t deserve it or they’ve pushed all my buttons in the wrong way possible, i would still try to be as nice and polite as i can. really helps with me working in the f&b industry lmfao.

No plan lasts past the first engagement with the enemy.

Loki was tempted just to let the camps burn. Maybe then, there would be fewer interruptions to his sleep!

It wasn't just that. He was simply grumpy about being torn away from that informative dream, and also from you.

You had been sleeping so comfortably in his arms, lain out on his fluffy rug like it was completely natural, and he'd been forced to leave you! That was so irritating!

And out here, in the twilight of midnight, there were humans running to and fro, fighting each other, screaming. There were tents burning, and flaming bottles flying through the air.

All the einherjar, save for the gate guards, were out here, Brunnhilde and the older valkyries, Heimdall, Ullr, and Gefjon directing the troops into a defensive wall between the attacking humans, Gna and Gersemi leading the emergency healers into the camps to retrieve injured humans, and the rest of Frigga's former handmaidens breaking up smaller brawls.

Loki and Thor headed to the thickest knot of activity, finding a large group of furious humans lobbing burning bottles at the believer's camp. The camp contained many reconstructionists, and there were enough shields, pans, and pot lids to create a shield wall. Every now and then, someone tossed some object over the wall, but for the most part, the faithful were on the defensive.

“They have to run out of bottles some time!” Someone shouted. “Keep Frit gathering the fire!”

“I don't know if he can hold much more!”

“Would have been nice to know about this before!”

“Just hold the wall!”

Though the wall was mostly wooden shields, they didn't burn. Every time one of the fiery missiles smashed against them, the fire disappeared, as if sucked away somewhere else. The attackers continued throwing, undeterred by the failure of their improvised firebombs.

“Make a space!” Someone shouted. “Let him through, let him through!”

An opening appeared in the shield wall and the worm from the camp-Fritjof-barreled through. His arms were wreathed in flame, all the way to his shoulders, and his eyes blazed with it. He aimed both flaming arms at the attacking campers, the fire rolling out in a blast that scattered most of them.

An Aesir! Loki gaped in surprise. The irreverent cur was an Aesir!

The aggressors regrouped quickly, rallying around two who were wrangling a strange weapon, aiming it at the new Aesir. Loki recognized the weapon. He'd used one before.

That was a Chitauri cannon.

Loki flung himself at Fritjof, throwing the fiery human out of the way, putting himself directly in the path of the cannon blast.

It lifted him off his feet, smashing him right through the shield wall. His foes flowed through the breach and fell upon Loki, tearing at his hair, gouging his face, but strangely, not trying to land any killing, or even disabling blows. The defending camp, with their splintered shields and bent pot lids, began to converge, while the cannon-bearers picked themselves back up and took aim again. The attackers scattered back through the broken wall to get out of the way.

Loki sat up, aiming Gungnir.

Thor, who had been helping defend the shattered shield wall, noticed and shouted.

“No, Loki!”

Gungnir's beam sliced through the cannon, splitting it in two. Loki gave his brother a smug look. He hadn't harmed the humans, and he hadn't even intended to.

The power mechanism within the cannon overloaded upon contact with the air, exploding in a concussive burst of blinding light. It flattened Loki, Thor, and the shield wall, blinding and deafening all.

Loki lay dazed, blinking dancing lights from his vision, loud ringing in his ears.

One of Frigga's former handmaidens-Sjofn-rushed to his side, but he pushed her away, shaking his head as he sat up, gesturing to the prone humans all around. They would be hurt far worse than him.

He struggled to his feet, Thor doing the same, gazing out over what had become the battle field. The cannon-bearers weren't there. At all. There was no debris, no remains. They had been completely vaporized. The human aggressors who had rallied to them lay strewn over the ground, some not showing any signs of life.

Damn. Damn! He hadn't meant for that to happen! He hadn't intended for anyone to die!

The camps were still burning, but the fighting had died down, the explosion a climax that stunned everyone involved. Little pockets of aggression were either surrounded and detained by einherjar, or disappeared into the chaos, not to be found. Everyone else was gathering up the injured, and herding all the remaining humans into the city, or forming bucket lines to put out the fires.

Thor placed his hand on Loki's shoulder. He startled, locking eyes with his brother.

“That wasn't supposed to happen!” He exclaimed in shame. “I didn't mean for that to happen! I deliberately tried to avoid killing anybody!”

“I know.” Thor said in the face of his brother's distress. “You saved that boy. You wanted to help them.”

“It's the same as always.” Loki said brokenly. “I wanted to do right for them, and then...this.”

“Let's go inside, Loki.” Thor said, wrapping a supporting arm around his shoulders, leading him towards the gates. “Go inside and get changed. Bathe. Get something to eat. Go to the embrace of your little love. She must be worried about you.”

“Wait, no!” Loki exclaimed. “I can't-I killed more humans! They're dead because of me! I can't go to her, I've-I've failed her! I don't deserve to...”

“Loki, come back to me. Come back. We will need you tonight. Get a short rest, find respite, get yourself together. We are taking the camps into the city, and will need to find a place to house them temporarily. We will need more hands to aid the injured. We will need you to help direct all this. We need you, Loki.”

“Right...” Loki whispered, taking deep breaths. “Right. Right. We need to get organized. Right.”

He straightened up, walked out from under Thor's arm, and headed to the front of the human migration into the city.

“Sequester the prisoners within the nearest guardhouse.” He commanded. “You won't need as many people to guard them that way. Keep the bucket lines out here after the fires are out, to make sure there is no looting. Get all of the badly injured to the healing wing. Humans of Trolekaerhalla to the throne room, humans of the protest camp to the banquet room. I will have no more humans fighting humans tonight.”

“Hey, it was those militants that attacked, not us!” A human from the protest camp yelled.

“Silence.” Loki commanded, and the human obeyed. “Now, everybody in their respective lines, injured first. Go!”

Everyone obeyed.

You threw on your blue cloak, and followed Andsvarr, and the messenger that had been sent for you. Humans had been brought into Asgard. Everything was in an uproar: the healing wing was more full than it had ever been, over a hundred humans from the camps had been stuffed into the throne room and banquet hall respectively, guards, aides, and servants were hurrying willy-nilly through the halls. Piles of blankets, carts of food and water, and baskets of first aid supplies were being rushed to the human's new camping grounds.

You too, were being rushed to the camper's aid, the rationale being that you might help to calm the distressed humans, and bolster their morale-and their cooperation.

You were led to the throne room first, where the people of the believer's camp had been based. The messenger left you then, but Andsvarr stayed glued to your side, ushering you up the dais, towards the throne. You were relieved to notice that the humans of the camp were respectful enough that they hadn't approached the throne; you feared that if the protesters had been installed in here, they'd be sitting in it.

As it was, it gave you the room to get up above everyone a bit, so you could address the crowd.

“Everyone!” You called, and everyone who wasn't distributing supplies turned to face you.

“Everyone who can understand English, please translate for those who can't. I need to speak with you. Now, I'm told you were attacked without provocation, and your tents set on fire. You've been brought here temporarily while the fires are put out.”

You paused to allow for translation. Out in the crowd, you spotted Sofie handing over a blanket at about the same time she saw you. She and another woman, with black hair and beautiful fur clothing, began shouldering through the crowd towards you.

“Einherjar will be patrolling the area to prevent looting, and also to seek out anyone who might have run away from the fighting, and is trying to return. It won't be safe out there for tonight, but I think that you'll be allowed back out to grab your things tomorrow.

I don't know how many tents are intact. You might have to stay here for a little while, but that's okay, we'll take care of you.”

“My seidkona!” Someone cried. Even the camp knew? “There were injured people. Do you know where they are?”

“They'll be in the healing wing.” You said. “I've been there before. The doctors here are very competent. Once they are safe, they'll probably be brought back here.”

Sofie called your name, finally making it to the front of the dais. The woman who was with her grasped your hand in both of hers.

“Please.” She said. “Fritjof is missing. You know him. Do you know where he is?”

Fritjof? That jerk who had manhandled you out in the camp?

“I don't know. I'm sorry. If he's with the healers, they'll send him back here once they finish patching him up. If he's still outside, and hasn't run off-”

The black-haired woman shook her head. “He wouldn't run.”

“Then the einherjar should find him, and he'll be brought here. Asgard will take care of him. They'll take care of anyone they find, so don't worry.”

“But what if he died?”

“I...haven't been informed of any deaths...” You said slowly.

A man cleared his throat. “There were casualties. I saw them.”

“Damn. Well, we'll do what people normally do in that case. Identify them, contact next of kin, take care of them.”

Once the woman had released your hands, others came forward to grasp them, or your cloak, or to simply reach out and lightly brush you with their fingers. Soon, it seemed like the whole camp had surrounded you, each one simply wanting to touch you reverently, murmuring your title.

It was monumentally uncomfortable. You had suddenly become an object of worship. Even Andsvarr was subjected to the laying on of hands, though he remained admirably stoic about it.

“Are you a god?” Someone asked him.

“No. I am a guard.” He answered. “I protect the seidkona.”

Several people blessed him for that, and you had the feeling his face was rapidly growing as hot as yours felt.

“Where will we live?” Someone else asked. “A lot of tents were completely destroyed. Likely most of our belongings too. Some of us don't have the money for new tents, and I don't know that everyone else has room for all the people who lost out.”

“Well, um, on that subject I have some good news.” You said, trying to wiggle away from all the outstretched hands without making it obvious that you were. “Asgard has been in talks about building permanent structures for your settlement. I think they're called longhouses? They would be available for any of you to live in, if you wanted to, and could be added on to if more people come. It would be your choice to live there or not, but they would be available. It was Loki's idea.”

“Praise Loki!” Someone cried.

“Skål!” Someone else shouted, echoed around the room by dozens of voices.

“You will probably need to help with building them.” You warned. “Most of Asgard's construction workers are tied up with working on the city. But if we all work hard together, we can probably get them built before winter comes.”

Pledges and cheers went up around the room, and by the time you left, both you and Andsvarr had been decorated with small gifts, despite your protests.

You were almost happy to escape, except that now you had to go address the protest camp, and you didn't think things would be so friendly with them.

Silence reigned when you entered the banquet hall, though it was not the respectful, expectant silence of the faithful. This was cold silence and cold expressions, reserved for people who had intruded where they didn't belong. Stacks of blankets and supplies lay on the tables and against the walls, untouched.

Andsvarr helped you up onto a chair.

“Alright, everyone.” You said. You knew all of these people were American, you knew they could understand you. “Do any of you know what happened out there? Like, what started this?”

No one said anything.

“There's Asgardians out there right now, putting out fires and protecting your stuff from getting stolen, but it won't do a lick of good if you just get attacked again. What happened?”

For a few moments, there was simply more cold silence. Then Todd spoke up from the back. He alone had taken some bandages, and was wrapping his swollen wrist.

“It was the militant camp. You know about them, right? That they're different from us?”

You groaned internally. Of course Todd was the only one who felt comfortable talking to you. Of course it was the one person you didn't want to talk to!

But whatever, at least someone was talking, and Andsvarr was right there. You'd be fine.

“What I know is that neither your camp, or theirs, has really wanted to talk to me all that much, so I haven't been appraised of the differences between you. Can you elaborate?”

Todd paused to regard you with a touch of confusion. Your speech patterns had changed since the days when you were under his thumb. When you were with him, he had tried to convince you that you were 'Sweet, but not all that smart', and you had started reading a whole lot more after you had left him.

“Uh, well, they have a lot of weapons, for one thing.” He said. “Knives, and molotovs, and I swear I saw a machete. We don't have anything like that. Well, we had knives, for everyday stuff, setting up tents, you know? They took those away though.”

“We'll never see them again.” a woman grumbled.

“They're not gonna keep your stuff.” You said. “It's just so that nobody stabs anybody else.”

“You don't give a captive enemy their weapons back.”

“You're not captives, and you're not their enemy. You're just-”

“Their our enemies! Earth's enemies!” There was a low rumbling of approval.

“How?” You asked. “How are they enemies?”

“Loki-”

“No, not Loki!” You snapped. “There are over three thousand people out there, and only one of them is Loki! How have any of the rest of these people caused you any problems? The soldiers who ran out there and put themselves between you and danger? The helpers who brought you blankets and food? The doctors, who are helping your injured? The children? That is who these people are! Not one man who has wronged us, but thousands of people!”

“They're going to become trouble.” She insisted. “They're too different, and they already have a war criminal among them!”

You crossed your arms. “You're one of those assholes who didn't want to let any of the Sokovian refugees into the States because some of them might be criminals, aren't you?” She backed off, beet red in the face. “Yeah, I figured as much.”

“H-how do you think you can talk like that to me!”

“You guys carried around signs with my face crossed out when I was going off to testify against a murderer who attempted to assassinate me. I don't need to be polite to you.”

“Look, if he was just a regular criminal, we wouldn't be making such a fuss...” Someone else cut in. “But this guy invaded. He brought an army. He attacked an entire city, a major metropolitan center! He was trying to conquer us! We're not gonna forgive him overnight! Or ever, probably.”

“And nobody expects you to! I sure don't.” You answered. “But he's one guy, in an entire species of people; you can't judge them all by the actions of one man.”

“I think the major problem here is that this 'one guy' is a ruler of Asgard.” Todd chimed back in. “So, I get where you're coming from, but all the people here are under his leadership. He controls policy, he can order them to do things. He has influence over them. And it's just really frustrating that Thor refuses to turn him over to justice, while his people fawn over him and he sits in the lap of luxury.”

“We put him in prison, you know.” Andsvarr said. People recoiled from him in surprise and fear.

“He can talk?” Todd exclaimed. You gave him a disgusted look. “English, I mean. He can understand what we're saying?”

“Of course I can. I learned for the seidkona's benefit.” Andsvarr said proudly. “Many people are learning English now. But I think you miss the point. Prince or not, we made him face justice for what he did here. When Allfather Thor brought him back to Asgard, he was sent to prison. There was no place on this planet that could have held him.

I do not know what would have eventually befallen him there, because, just as his highness invaded your world, so too was our world invaded. The Allmother was killed in that attack, while protecting a human.

The prince escaped somehow, but instead of running away to safety, he also protected that human, and all the people of all the realms, and he was willing to give his life to do so.”

“But he's still alive.” Someone pointed out.

“Yes, but he didn't know he would be. He thought he was dead, but he did it anyway. I know his highness shows different faces to different people, but if you ask me for the measure of a man, I cannot give you any better than that.”

No few people seemed to be considering what Andsvarr had said, and you couldn't help but wonder how many people where here for real anti-Asgardian conviction, and how many were just curious.

“All right, but why should we believe you? You work for him. And you could have just been fed a bunch of propaganda.”

“I could have.” Andsvarr said. “But I stand outside his room every day, and was specially assigned to see to the safety of the seidkona. She came to us sick and vulnerable, and I have seen her grow strong under his care. When others trouble her, he does his best to protect and comfort her. He takes an interest in her health and happiness. Why would he do this, if she was just a victim? Why would he put in so much effort, if he did not care?”

“And I tried to tell you all this before, but you didn't seem to hear me.” You said. Yes, you were scolding now, but it was the middle of the 'night', you had been pulled out of an informative dream, and pulled out of the arms of the man you were rapidly falling more and more for. You'd had to allow that same man out into battle, so you'd had to worry about him, and Sofie, and all of the other people outside, and now you were expected to address those people as if you were some kind of authority, and they weren't having it. You were tired, you were stressed, you were grumpy, and you were just done with it all.

“Frankly, I'm completely over all this bullshit. You guys don't have to stay, and you don't have to leave. You don't have to forgive Loki, and you don't have to give a shit about me. You don't have to use the blankets. You don't have to like anyone here. But you damn well better behave while you're in someone else's house, you hear me? And that means while you are outside too, because Iceland isn't gonna deal with your barnyard manners either. Figure out what you're really here for, then act accordingly. I'm out.”

You hopped of the chair, pushed past Todd, and stormed out of the room. Stomping down the hall, you reflected that you probably should have put more effort into professionalism and diplomacy. Acting like that would have gotten you fired at your old job. But you were extremely cranky, and were you even considered 'on the clock' right now? Or did you now have one of those jobs were you were technically never off?

When Andsvarr got you back to your room, you noticed Loki's door was open, and you could see the firelight flickering down the hallway. You peeked your head in to see him standing near the fire, still in his armor, wringing his hands.

“Loki?” He started, whirling to face you.

“They told me you went to see the camps?” He asked, trying to fake composure. You could see it in the tightness around his eyes, the set of his narrow lips.

“Yeah. I was supposed to calm them down. Don't think I really did.” You reached up and removed his helmet, letting his hair fall around his face. He inclined his head a little, silently, to allow you.

You placed the heavy helmet next to a ewer of liquid, on the dresser beside his large bed. Then you poured him a drink from it, and handed it over. He took a sip, watching you as you searched out the release clasps for his cape.

“I told Trolekaerhalla about the longhouses, and they are very excited. I think you've made some friends there. I saw Sofie too, and I think she's recording everything, so I hope that's okay. I got pretty snippy with the protester's camp, but they were rude, and Todd was there, so I eventually just told them to sort themselves out, and left.”

You lay the thick cape over the back of one of his plush chairs, then took him by the wrist, turned his hand palm up, and began to unfasten his bracer.

Piece by piece, you divested him of the trappings of war, a ritual flaying of his protective skins, leaving him in his leather trousers, and a shirt of quilted green silk. He looked like a raw emerald crystal; beautiful and precious.

Still quiet, he rubbed his hands up and down your shoulders, slowly leading you to sit down on the bed, then took a place at your feet. He hugged you around your middle and lay his head in your lap.

So pleasant. You felt soft all over, warm and weirdly protective. This would have been even more wonderful, if Loki wasn't acting so apprehensive. It was like he was struggling to make himself say something he knew would upset you. In silence, you stroked his hair patiently, waiting until he was ready.

Long minutes passed with just the fire flickering, his breath, and the strength of his clinging arms.

“I made a mistake out there.” He murmured, breaking the comforting silence. “I killed people. I'm sorry.”

“Oh, Loki...” You breathed.

“I didn't mean to! I made every effort not to! But it still happened anyway. Norns, I tried...For you, I tried. For them...”

“Tell me what happened.” You cajoled gently. Looked like you were still 'on the clock' after all.

“Much happened, all at once. Battle is like that. I went to where the fighting looked its worst, and found the aggressors throwing makeshift firebombs at our faithful. They were defending themselves valiantly, and did you know? I think that wretch who mistreated you might be a human Aesir?”

“There are human Aesir?”

“Yes. At least, there have been, in the past. Their names have been passed down as legends and cultural heroes, but they existed, and still exist, if what I saw is any indication. He absorbed the fire thrown at his fellows, and directed it back at his attackers. But I lost him in the fray. I know not if he still lives.”

“He's not the one you killed?”

“Accidentally.” He insisted. “I swear. No. The aggressors had a Chitauri cannon. And they knew how to fire it. I could not allow them to do so a second time, so I destroyed the weapon. I thought only to disarm them, that they may be apprehended, and not harm anybody else, but I forgot that the Chitauri do not value their people as we do. Their weapons are designed to explode when sufficiently damaged. It's wielders died, and I don't know how many others as well.”

“Loki, That's really terrible, but I don't think you can really be blamed for it-”

“No, it is my fault. It was a stupid lapse in judgment, on my part. I have worked with Chitauri before, I should have remembered this. Now people are dead because my first thought was to destroy, rather than confiscate. They were humans, they could not match my strength. I could have just taken it away from them. Now I do not know what will happen. The government of Iceland will no doubt rapidly run out of patience with human deaths within their borders. This is a peaceful country, and I do not want Asgard to become associated with violence and murder here.

And that does not even take into account that these are your people, specifically. I'll be hearing even more from the American government soon, I know it. All the same threats, all the same demands, even more justified this time.”

“More justified? They were trying to kill people with a highly contraband weapon, who's justifying that? How did they even get a Chitauri weapon anyway? Chitauri stuff is super illegal to own, and they knew that. Everyone knows that!”

“You are not angry with me?” He gazed up anxiously from your lap. Your insides melted down into a warm puddle. Was he really so worried about that?

I tried for you, he had said.

“I'm not mad.” You assured him. “I'm disappointed that it came to that, and sad that it ended badly, even though you tried to avoid it. But I still say you're not to blame. I get where you're coming from when you say you should have known better, but that doesn't erase the fact that they brought an alien laser gun to fight against people with wooden shields and hatchets. And they ambushed them to boot! I'm saying that they had a bit more responsibility for their actions than you did. You went out there to defend; they went out there to murder. It's not the same thing.”

“You are very forgiving. Much more than I deserve.”

“I think it's that I'm not attached.”

He continued gazing up at you, as you continued stroking his hair. “Can you explain?”

“Well...” You thought about it. “I wasn't in New York when you attacked, or even for years afterward. I didn't know anybody in New York, and I didn't know anybody who knew anybody in New York. It might as well have been a world away. No personal connection. I was as dismayed as anyone else, but it didn't really reach me. Even when I went to visit, everything had already been rebuilt. I suppose if I came from there, I wouldn't be able to forgive you, but I was just so far removed from it all. I wonder if I should feel more strongly about it? But I just don't. I hope that's not too cruel. I only feel sad, not angry.”

“Will you tell me what you were doing that day?”

“Why do you want to know?” You remembered, of course. It had been an important day. It confirmed the truth of alien life. It brought superheroes fully into the public consciousness. But why would Loki care what you in particular were doing that day?

“It was important, wasn't it? It seemed so big, so important. But it turns out, there were billions of humans, like you, who weren't fighting. Who were simply going about their everyday business. I didn't even slow them down. Where were you? What were you doing? What were you thinking and feeling?”

He was feeling guilty! Actually guilty over what he had done. So far, Loki had expressed guilt through gifts and information, and you suddenly realized the core of his troubles with Earth.

It was that there was nothing to fix.

Everything had been rebuilt. Memorials had been created. Deaths had been mourned. There was nothing left for him to do. Nothing for him to give. No patronage he could offer. Humanity held its grudge, but it had also moved on.

Loki might genuinely want to help, but there was nowhere for him to aim his guilt-driven altruism. He'd hit upon something with the longhouse idea, but aside from building a whole second city for the faithful, there were only so many of those he could have made.

You leaned down to awkwardly hug him; he sighed and snuggled into your thighs.

“Well, I was at home, making yeast rolls. Tara called me, told me to turn on the radio, so I did. For the next couple of hours I just kept doing housework, and wondering what to do. Should I leave? Where would I go? I was scared, but I didn't have any kind of plan. There was nowhere to escape to, and the things I was hearing...they just didn't seem real. I watered my plants. I took a yeast roll, and I went for a long walk. I wanted a long reminder of my peaceful hometown, in case it all came tumbling down.”

There had been people on the road, heading west, getting out of town. You had just put on some bug spray and gone out walking. Memorizing the flowers at the verges of the cornfields, watching the grasshoppers jump, sweating under the sun. And when that sun started to set, when the cicadas began to buzz, when your phone showed you the outcome of the battle, you'd turned around and walked home, relieved, but confused.

You, like everyone, mostly just wanted to know why. And now you knew why. And it was huge! And it had to remain secret, forever. You had to keep that secret, like a jewel in a locked box; precious and important, and utterly forbidden.

“After it was all done, I came home, and called my dad, and ate dinner. Then I went to work the next day. My life was the same, but the world was different. You did have an impact, don't ever think you didn't. You were a household name. You opened our eyes. Yeah, we didn't like it at all, you did kill a lot of people, and you should feel bad about that. But you also revitalized our space programs, and reminded us that we are not the pinnacle of creation. I think we need that occasionally, I just wish it didn't have to be so murdery.”

“I can assure you, I have no intention to become so...'murdery' ever again.”

Loki released your waist, kneeling back on his heels. He left his hands resting on your hips.

“I wish that I could keep you from danger. I wish that I could have taken you back to Asgard, that you could have seen it, and me...all of us, in all our glory. I feel like a burden now, wherever I go.”

You leaned forward again, drawing him back into your embrace. You felt that he probably needed more hugs, and luckily for him, you had an endless supply.

“You look like a man, to me.” You said, resuming your hair stroking.

You plucked a lock forward.

“Say, did somebody cut your hair? You've got some missing here.”

“Oh. Yes.” He said. He had wriggled his way between your knees, to hug you better, and it was making your breath heavy. “I took the cannon blast because I did not think the faithful would be able to withstand it. My armor held, and I wasn't badly hurt, but the militants swarmed me while I was down. It seems like they couldn't find a way past my armor, so they just went after my face and hair, since that was all that was exposed.”

“Geez. I'm glad you're safe.”

“There was never any doubt. But your concern is...gratifying.”

You stifled a yawn, but he noticed.

“Yes, our sleep was rudely interrupted, wasn't it? Well, we should probably get back to it, shouldn't we?”

Loki led you back you your room, parting with you only reluctantly.

“I want you out there with me tomorrow, helping to oversee things. Please be prepared.”

You drew your curtains and went straight to bed, oddly excited.

DBT Workbook Notes - Day 1

Hi guys!! I wanted to write down things from my DBT workbook that are important and I think would be life-changing to share and hear, and things that I’ve highlight (which will be bolded) that have helped me since reading it! *It’ll be under a read more for the tags after a brief description of what DBT is!

First off: What’s DBT?

“Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) treatment is a type of psychotherapy — or talk therapy — that utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach. DBT emphasizes the psychosocial aspects of treatment. DBT is a specific type of cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy developed in the late 1980s by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan to help better treat borderline personality disorder. Since its development, it has also been used for the treatment of other kinds of mental health disorders.” (Source)

DBT is the main treatment for BPD folx, and it’s honestly something I’ve unknowingly been doing on my own (poorly) for abt 2yrs now since I’ve self-diagnosed. Now, onto the notes! It’ll be under a read more for the tags.

Basic Distress Tolerance Skills

1 - What Are They?

Pain is often unavoidable and unpredictable, and the best you can do is to use the coping skills that you have and hope that they work.

For some people, emotional and physical pain feels more intense and occurs more frequently than it does for other people. Distress comes on more quickly and feels overwhelming. It feels like it’ll never end and they don’t know how to cope with the severity of their pain. (my workbook calls people like this people with “overwhelming emotions” so we’re gna keep that) People with overwhelming emotions tend to cope in unhealthy and unsuccessful ways because they don’t know how to do it any other way - which is understandable. When a person is in emotional pain, it’s hard to be rational and think of a good solution. Many coping strategies they [people with overwhelming emotions] have currently only serve to worsen the problem.

Here’s the list that they provided of unhealthy/problematic coping strategies to pain (i’m going to bold the ones that i do and am working on fixing):

You spend a great deal of time thinking about past pains, mistakes, and problems.

You get anxious worrying about possible future pains, mistakes, and problems.

You isolate yourself from other people to avoid distressing situations.

You make yourself feel numb with alcohol or drugs.

You take your feelings out on other people by getting excessively angry at them or trying to control them.

You engage in potentially dangerous behaviours, such as cutting, hitting, scratching, picking at, or unprotected sex.

You avoid dealing with the causes of your problems, such as an abusive or dysfunctional relationship.

You use food to punish or control yourself by eating too much, not eating at all, or by throwing up what you eat.

You attempt suicide or engage in high-risk activities, like reckless driving or taking dangerous amounts of alcohol and drugs.

You avoid pleasant activities, such as social events and exercise, maybe because you don’t think that you deserve to feel better.

You surrender to your pain and resign yourself to living a miserable and unfulfilling life.

All of these coping methods are unhealthy and cause even deeper pain, because even the strategies that offer a quick-fix will only cause you more suffering in the future. Pain can’t be avoided, but many times suffering can.

The first group of distress tolerance skills are labeled as “distraction” - distract yourself from the situations that are causing you emotional pain. These are important because they can temporarily stop you from thinking about your pain and they give you time to find an appropriate coping response. Do not confuse distraction with avoidance, however, because you still intend on dealing with it in the future when your emotions have calmed down to a tolerable level.

The second group of distress tolerance skills are “self-soothing” - these are often necessary before you face the cause of your distress since your emotions might be too “hot”. Many people with overwhelming emotions panic when faced with an argument, rejection, failure, or other painful events - before you can address these with your new skills (later notes i’ll re-link here when i have them!) it’s often necessary to soothe yourself to regain your strength. Self-soothing is meant to bring you some amount of peace and relief from your pain so that you can figure out what you’re going to do next. This skill also serves another purpose - it’ll help you learn to treat yourself with compassion. Many people with overwhelming emotions were abused or neglected as children and thus taught more about how to hurt than to help themselves. The second purpose of self-soothing skills is to teach you how to treat yourself kindly and lovingly.

Viewpoint: YN Perspective Key to Hobby Future

I am a Young Numismatist, and I come from a family that has no knowledge or interest in numismatics. I have been a page for many coins shows and I exhibit as much as possible. I enjoy the competition of the exhibits, and I enjoy being a page for the simple fact that if you work hard, you can make a little money and get some coins to add to your collection. Because I am around lots of dealers and people who are interested in coins, I have heard a consistent theme, “we have to get young people into coins or we won’t have our next generation of coin collectors.” It is also a common theme I read in coin magazines, I hear discussed and I get asked about most likely because I am the very youth they are trying to attract for the future.

I think the biggest failing in numismatics is that no one is asking the youth and no one is understanding what we are interested in. Let me provide an example from an exhibit standpoint. Exhibits can be fun and very rewarding, especially when you win. Additionally, you get to bring the exhibits back to your school and local clubs and gain valuable YN dollars from the ANA to participate in live auctions. The connection of having YNs exhibit and understanding what other opportunities they can use their exhibits for is a huge motivator for kids in building knowledge, interest in coins, and giving them collecting ideas.

One of the first exhibits I ever did was on “How to Be a Trillionaire: The World’s Devalued Currencies.” This exhibit was 100 percent my idea – no help or influence from anyone in any way. From being a page, I was able to bargain and collect a Zimbabwe 100 trillion bill, the Yugoslavian’s 500 billion-dinar bank note, Indonesia’s 100,000 rupiah as well as other devalued currencies from Greece, Zaire, and Vietnam. I then put together an exhibit with the date of the greatest devaluation of the respective currency and how many Happy Meals it could buy (and included a Happy Meal box in my exhibit for visual attractiveness). It was typed, triple-matted and I followed the judge’s guidelines closely. The irony is that I saw many people looking at my exhibit, so I must admit I felt a little confident in my placing in the YN category. The final result? I had the worst score of all the YNs. There were eight competitors, and kids usually share scores with each other. First and Second Place went to exhibits on WWII type coins, and third place went to tokens. While I thought first place was a well-done exhibit, I do not feel the second or third places were that well done.

Furthermore, two of the exhibits that beat me based on scores were poorly constructed, not eye-appealing at all and contained little to no numismatic information. However, all seven of the exhibits did have something I didn’t – they were old. Not Roman coin old, but generationally old. The judges are people that look at coins from their times or their parents’ times with reverence. I assume because this is what they experience, this is what they liked – they are familiar with it. However, those exhibits don’t resonate with me or my generation. While collectors that like historical context are very fond of certain types of old coins, the historical context of my generation isn’t very much. A World War II token isn’t as impressive to me as having a chance of being a trillionaire in various countries. However, from an educational perspective, I pointed out that even though you were a trillionaire in Zimbabwe at the height of their devaluation, that you would still have to borrow money as a trillionaire to buy just one Happy Meal. My generation understands Happy Meals, and we are also the generation that is experiencing more millionaires and billionaires than ever before. This generational understanding is important because it connects to us. Oh, remember me telling you all the people that were looking at my exhibit? They had one thing in common: they weren’t coin collectors. They looked like kids and moms that were caught by something that caught their attention because it resonated with their time.

Let me provide another example. There are barriers of participation in exhibits that involve youth. One of the best shows that a YN can participate in is the Georgia Numismatic Association (GNA) show. They make exhibiting, participating and competing easy and fun. Honestly, had I never competed in a GNA show early on, I doubt I would’ve competed in other shows. For example, if the GNA show starts on Wednesday, they will allow the YNs to set up on Friday. Why is this important? My parents aren’t coin dealers, so we aren’t going to be at a coin show on Wednesday or Thursday for set-up. I don’t own a car, so I become reliant on someone to take me far away to compete in a coin show as my dad explains to me that the yield on hotels and travel for three days isn’t worth it. I understand what he is saying. I have tried to compete at other shows in several other states and the chairpersons that run the exhibits always refuse to let YNs set up later.

So, if you are in Florida for a show and you live far away, you have to figure out how to get set up by Thursday morning and be around until late Saturday night. That is fine if you live close by; however, it becomes a barrier for a YN that lives far away. It becomes costly, and I am counting on convincing others I need help. My parents won’t budge on this, and I suspect many youths that would like to compete would do more if they could. I love the GNA as they work with the youth to give them a chance to compete. I have done shows in three other states and after the first time of exhibiting in each of these shows, my parents simply won’t go back. My parents are awesome as they don’t mind taking me anywhere to do a show if it is on a Saturday and Sunday – it is when I have to miss extra days of school and the cost becomes too high to compete. Competing is one of the greatest rewards for a Young Numismatist. You get a chance to win prizes and if it is a good show you almost always at least get a silver round. My point is that shows need to work harder to reduce the barriers for YNs, we all don’t have coin dealer parents that we are tagging along with. You want to get the youth that aren’t connected to the coin world involved.

In the spirit of exhibits, my last example is judging. A YN needs to be judged differently. I don’t have coin dealer parents, and I don’t have expensive rare coins. I generally work the dealer floor trying to find items for an exhibit. Additionally, I know my exhibit will probably not look as good as an adult that has been exhibiting for years. While my parents give me guidance and advice, they require me to do my own exhibits. I recently had two colonial notes in an exhibit that I competed with. They were the only thing in my exhibit that weren’t real. I put under them “Reproduction: For Educational Purposes Only.” The head judge said I was misleading and I needed to put an “s” after the word “Reproduction” because there were two of them, not one, and since the U.S. Mint was at the show, they could potentially get us in trouble for counterfeit money. My first issue is that the U.S. Mint never produced these as it was before the U.S. Mint even existed. My second issue is that to own these two notes would be very expensive. And my third is I felt that since they were mounted together with the “Reproduction: For Educational Purposes Only” under them, then this would satisfy any problems.

I love collecting coins. I wish I had more, and I wish I could do more shows. I have learned lots about coins, and I am still trying to convince my dad to buy the ANA correspondence course for me. However, you have to look at things from my generation to help bridge the gap for the next generation of coin collectors. Assuming that we have still have it, I will be in Pittsburgh for the World’s Fair of Money 2020 paging and exhibiting (how I talked my dad into this show, I still don’t know). Ask guys like me what we like and what interests us. Let us give you a different perspective. υ

So as you can see from the picture my brand new car of 8 months is totaled. Filed a claim, other person got a ticket because it was their fault when the accident happened. My car was valued at 23,600 change and I owed 24,120. The payout difference isn't so bad and no I don't have gap insurance (I guess I wouldn't get in a accident, considering I drive very safely) I gave my insurance all the information to my account number from ford credit also everything else. So my question is! How long do I have to wait for this payment from the insurance to pay off my car and see the difference to what I owe out of pocket? Do I get like a check in the mail? Or how does this exactly work? Will I see a difference in my account when I log in where I do my monthly payments? Also, will my credit be damaged in anyway? Help me out! I will call as well but they are closed on Sundays... Figured I'd get an idea if anyone can reply. THANK YOU!

Okay, so here is the story. i was in a private McDonald's car park when the was car meet event, nothing official boy racers if your wish, the car parks were full to the brim with cars parked all over the place, with hardly any lighting at 10 o clock as night, visibility wasn't at its best. i was stuck in a Que of traffic trying to get out of the car park, when the car in front started reversing for what ever reason, so i put my car into reverse, had a glance in the rear view mirror which really was no help because of the poor lighting. I let my foot of the brake as the car in front stated reversing an with in milliseconds i herd people shouting, so i stopped and got out, there was a car right behind me must have on been cm away, with a massive dent in the drivers door. although i didn't even feel a thing i quickly apologised and began to sort the problem. i have no clue whether the driver had his lights on or not. i suspected that i couldn't have done it because i had barely moved and there was no damage to my car what so ever. Although this being my first accident i was nerves so took responsibility. We both decided to sort it out between our selves, i didn't want my insurance to go up as it is high enough already as a young driver, he said he would need a new door and i agreed due to the size of the dent, so he found one on eBay for 150 and would take nothing but that as i only had 100 in the bank at the time we drove to the cash machine he took the 100 and we agreed that i would pay him the other 50 in two weeks when i got paid, i writ a receipt to say that i had paid him this money and there was a following 50 to come, with his signature and address phone number ext... two weeks later herd nothing although i kept the money aside for a couple more weeks just in case, but still herd nothing after over a month he texts me asking for the 50 which i no longer have, i explain to him that he has left if for over month and now expects it instantly. Now he says he is going to put in an insurance claim, which i cant no see happening due to 2 reasons 1. he has already tried to sort it him self and failed to because of a fault of his own 2. because he was on a private car park at an illegal car meet Am i right? or is there anything i should do or know about this situation. I am seriously considering becoming an insurance agent for State Farm, Farmers or All State, but I don't know which company is the best choice for me, I am bilingual in Spanish, so I am looking for a company that is going after the Hispanic Market. I have heard some bad things about Farmers, so my decision might be State Farm or All State. Nationwide is doing a great advertising campaing in the Spanish market, does anybody know if they offer agency jobs. I am open to other suggestions. Any help/Suggestions is very much appreciated.
