Dahlia & lotus for the 🌸 meme
Thank you! 😘❤️
dahlia— do you like to follow current fashion trends or do you have a particular style that you prefer to stick to?
I’ve no idea what current trends are (I presume it’s still mostly boring beige and whites which mask as “classy” and “elegant”. They are not.) I hate plain things. I love bright colours, bold patterns (I love animal patterns, fruit patterns and other quirky ones). I also love Halloween themed clothes and have a lot of these. I’m like that room from Wednesday, half pink and half black.
lotus— what is your favorite color and in what shade? e.g. sage green, navy blue, ect.
Crimson red my beloved! The best shade of red, just the right amount of depth and intensity.

Rules: answer + tag 9 people you want to get to know better and/or catch up with!
Favorite Color: Swimming pool blue. Orange. They go really well together.
Last Song: "A Deeper Shade of Soul" by Urban Dance Squad.
Last Movie: Blood and Black Lace by Mario Bava. What a romp. It's gorgeously stylish Italian horror/murder mystery. It's inspired me to refinish the mannequin legs I've had forever, maybe with a Pucci print theme.
Currently reading: I'm about to finish A Canticle for Liebowitz by Walter M. Miller. It was written in the late 1950s but it's probably my favorite novel about knowledge and the bleakness of humanity's folly. It's also wryly funny. Like bone-dry. Next up I am finally re-reading Le Morte d'Arthur.
Currently watching: Babylon 5. Holy shit, this show is intense and complex and for the time it was made the production is fantastic (the 90s cgi is not bad -- they only use it for outer space shots mostly). I am enthralled by all these stubborn, flawed characters and all the impossible moral conundrums. If you like Star Trek DS9, I'd really be curious what you think of this show (and recommend it highly if you haven't seen it).
Currently Craving: I'm a little out of touch with my cravings at the moment.
Coffee or Tea: I used to drink tea all the time, but I've been a coffee freak for most of my life.

Get to Know Meme
Tag 9 people you want to get to know better. Tagged by: @tinyfrenchowl (thank you! <3)
Three ships: Morticia & Gomez (The Addams Family), Bedelia & Chiyoh (Hannibal, we were robbed I'm telling you), Mary & Matthew (Downton Abbey), and bonus I'm writing that ship: Bedelia & Caesar (Hannibal—The Hunger Games crossover)
First ever ship: I don't remember to be quite honest. The first one I've ever properly written in RP, it'd have to be Bedelia & Hannibal. I seriously cannot remember the first I've ever shipped, but my memory from childhood to mid-teens is foggy at best.
Last song: Devil Is A Woman — Cloudy June
Last movie: Glass Onion
Currently reading: Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert (I failed to read it in high school, it's a current challenge)
Currently consuming: water (not very interesting, I know)
Currently craving: a hug, reassurance, and sleep
Tagging: @footnoteinhistory @plvtarch @bedannibal-lectaurier @caesarflickermans @foxx-queen @the50sfox

i heard it was because Fuller hates “sweet” colors and they wanted the color palette to look more “savory” but yeah…why not just use a red dress to begin with?
... I don’t particularly find yellow savoury, but maybe I’m weird. Also they could still have toned it down a little and make the season a little lighter, some scene are so dark that I wonder if they’re trying to hide things like that. As for why not just use a red dress... AESTHETIC! That’s the only reason I can find at the moment.

For this meme.
5. Favorite shot, cinematography-wise?
The shots of the Muralist’s work in Sakizuke, particularly the hair-raising dissolve from Will looking at a photograph of the eye to him standing in its center. It’s the show’s greatest visual metaphor for seeing and being seen.
8. Favorite dish?
Well, I really wanted to scarf up those wobbly bread puddings from Fromage, but they’re not narratively significant enough to top the chart. I suppose it has to be the ortolans, they are seared into my brain, and not just because of the mouth porn. Never has the act of eating looked so sensuous, and yet so gross and absurd, outright silly even. Those crunching noises! Their little beaks and feet! Eating is so goddamn undignified, yet Hannibal does everything he can to make his guests forget.
22. Have any personal head/heart canons that you don’t hear talked about often?
Jack!!! I never hear enough discussion about Jack. Especially his friendship with Will. That moment in Coquilles with the two of them in Jack’s office suggests a level of personal intimacy we never get to see. Apparently they go fishing together, or is that only when they’re running a secret operation? Will must have met Bella at some point, right? What was their dynamic like? Will and Jack’s relationship is as rife with manipulative tension as Will and Hannibal’s, but there was a real connection there, too, and I like thinking about that. Will as Hannibal and Bella’s surrogate son, how’s that for a messed-up, fractured family dynamic?

20 & 23 for the book asks :)
20. What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?
Probably The Tyrant Baru Cormorant, which not only met my expectations, but exceeded them.
23. What’s the fastest time it took you to read a book?
Ha. Not totally sure. I read this odd little stand-alone copy of Mrs. Oliphant’s The Library Window in definitely under an hour.

Book ask 1 & 2!
1. what are you currently reading? how would you rate it so far?
I am halfway through The Power by Naomi Alderman and so far I am thoroughly enjoying it. I can’t quite commit to a 5/5 just yet, so let’s say 4/5.
2. what was the last book you rated 5/5?
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
I can’t help but admire the mastery with which the tones and genres shift and merge.
Ask me book-related questions

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once upon a time, as such stories go, there lived a count who resided in a manor house high in the mountains. In his vast domain, there numbered seven villages in the green and verdant valley below. The count, nicknamed Bluebeard by the commonfolk because of the blue-bearded devil that appeared on his crest, had in his time taken a bride from six of the villages in his realm, all save for the seventh and most prosperous near the sea. And that is where he journeyed to find his newest bride.

5, 15, 25, 52!
5. do you prefer to drink soda from soda cans, soda bottles, plastic cups or glass cups?
Diet coke from a can is just the superior way to drink it. It’s just a fact.
15. favorite book you read as a school assignment?
Black Boy by Richard Wright, mostly its the one I remember vividly to this day. (If we don’t count Methods for the Economic Evaluation of healthcare programmes by Michael Drummond et al, which I read for my masters and is also pretty damn #iconic).
25. first song you remember hearing?
Coming Around Again by Carly Simon, which was my favourite song because it talks about mummy, daddy and baby. I mean I think its actually about domestic violence, but I was 3. (by comparison my brother’s first favourite song was I wanna dance with someone who loves me, a far better choice)
52. favorite font?
It wouldn’t be right for me not to choose Johnstone, especially since Gill Sans, my old favourite, is forever tainted by association with its creator.

bedannibal-lectaurier replied to your post “KILLING EVE - S2 Ep 7 & 8”
the plaid on plaid--Villanelle really is Hannibal's long lost murder daughter isn't she? at least in the fashion department
Tumblr media
Occurred to me I hadn’t highlighted her tartan togs---behold Hannibal Lecter’s Russian fashion plate daughter.
Also, when I went back to grab this, I noticed that the snow globe that catches Villanelle’s bright-eyed attention is from....Alaska. Baby!
And further, more plot-spoilery reply below:
bedannibal-lectaurier replied to your post “KILLING EVE - S2 Ep 7 & 8”
i agree with you that carolyn's master plan did resolve a lot of the question marks i had about this season, like why MI6 was so cool about letting Villanelle go free==psych they weren't!
There really was a section in the late middle there where I had just accepted that we were in complete la la land, like Carolyn’s Moscow Rules but it’s Soap Opera Rules. And then when they deftly explained it all with really just about one line, I was both impressed and a little frightened! It’s kinda like the whole season lulled us into Aaron Peele’s way of thinking about MI6, hoodwinking us right alongside Eve and Villanelle, and with the same tool---they set us up to think what we wanted to think: that maybe our murder girlfriends would just get to be together without The Law keeping them apart.
