Recently I had someone piss me off about this very topic, so to get it out of my head it’s going here. Hi, welcome to the not well put together metas. Use this evidence how you please, but don’t harass anyone. Arguments are not owed to anyone. You can simply walk away if you don’t want to have it. And put your time into better things! Like this! A creative output! Go on, do ittt!!!! Make the negatives into something positive.
Tw for mentions of suicide.
In one of the very first scenes of this show, we see our wonderful, amazing, insecure, and downright unbearable to some degree, Bakugou Katsuki. He’s arrogant and most people think that this first action he ever does is irredeemable. Because telling someone to take a swan dive off of a roof so that he doesn’t try to get into UA (bc Katsuki knows that Izuku would find a way) is a really fucking shitty action and irredeemable.
This belief is true to a degree. But let’s establish a few points that are given to us. 1, this is out of character for Katsuki. The bullying no, but the extent of his bullying, yes. As pointed out here.
(Sorry for bad quality I wanted to get the official translation so I used my irl copy)
“You went too far today” aka “you went too far compared to what is the norm”. It’s not what he would usually do.
2, lip service. As stated on the can when he says this, it’s a tongue and cheek to Katsuki’s true beliefs. He doesn’t actually want Izuku to kill himself, nor does he believe it is Izuku’s fault. He is well aware of the severity of his actions the moment he makes them. The point of this scene is not to excuse his actions but to explain why he did them.
3, insecurity. The why of this scene. It’s a facade. Not what he truly believes.
But that’s the great part about his development; there is no justification. He just did it and it was bad. That’s honestly why I hate a lot of bullies in media. It’s always that they had a bad family life, or they were forced to, or they were protecting the mc. It’s never that they were a shitty fucking kid who was insecure. Now THATS the most realistic explanation. Part of the reason for why this is so common in media is because of how hard it is to do correctly. Mha does it in a phenomenal way. Katsuki never changes his personality, even when he gets his character development. He’s mellowed out a bit sure, but he’s still him. Katsuki. Bakugou Katsuki. The kid who yells at people when they tease him, the kid that still says “DIE” in every situation in heroics. He even made sure he kept most of his hero name. He didn’t just make it “dynamite”, he made it “lord explosion murder god dynamite”. He’s still himself.
The excuse will never appear. This is actually what a lot of bakugou/bkdk stans get wrong: there will never be an explanation passed what was given. Because it’s not needed to tell the narrative. No matter how many fanfics you write about it, or how many hc’s you add to it. In canon it will always remain this. Bakugou Katsuki did a shitty act, understood what he did was wrong, got passed their mis communications, did everything in his power to make up for it, and apologized for his actions. Standing side by side with Izuku. Your most important actions will always be what you do in the present over what you did in the past.
And my last point, which is just me putting this into perspective, but… you think that toga is more redeemable than him? What? Or Zuko? Hell, even fucking uncle Iroh. Name me a character that YOU think deserved their redemption arc. Was killing people or attempting to kill people better morally than telling someone to kill themself? You seriously BELIEVE THAT???
Face it. The reason why he is so hated for this scene is because of projection. Projecting him as a villain in dekus story. Someone for him to surpass and leave in the dirt. I fully understand WHY it’s so common, but if you’re gonna pick a fight, at least fucking get past the projection bit. He’s relatable, I get that. Fully understand that. Doesn’t make picking fights with people who disagree with you out of nowhere and unprompted any less bad.
(Also sorry for not posting for days, I’m back and there’s more stuff coming soon but for now, this is what you get lol. It’s my page and I can do what I want sibdodnd)

Forgive me for showing my fangs a little here instead of being as delicate in phrasing as I usually am, but. Periodic reminder:
sweeping "humans suck, humans are evil, the world would be better off if humans disappeared/had never evolved" statements may be cathartic but they're thoroughly inaccurate (ie, the vast majority of uniquely bad effects of humans on the planet are a) extremely recent, like within the last couple centuries, b) the fault of an extremely small minority not the entire fucking species, and c) fixable)
hating being human isn't the same as hating humans. I get species dysphoria is a thing. I get that it's often hard to fit in as a nonhuman in human social groups and that can make it easy to slip into hating everyone around you. Please fight that instinct
villainizing people for traits they didn't choose, such as the species they were born into, is neither cute nor fair. No species is inherently good or bad
misanthropy is cathartic in short term vents or whatever but genuinely embracing it wholesale as a philosophy is liable to lead to you hating humans, human society, and being in a human body more and more over time and thus make your life worse by constantly reinforcing a thought pattern that makes you angry and upset
you are not immune to being part of human society (translation: just because you're nonhuman doesn't mean you're not included in statements about the effects of the human population on the world, ie "humans are killing the planet")
related, you are not better than humans for being nonhuman. looking at my fellow dragons in particular on this one. I get it, draconic pride is a thing, dragon brain probably says you're the supreme being and all else is beneath you especially anyone who annoys you. Mine does too. Please recognize that is an instinct you are supposed to FIGHT, not something that's TRUE AND THAT YOU SHOULD EMBRACE. Good fucking gods.
some nonhumans are also human (it's me, I'm some nonhumans) and you are making sweeping "humans suck, why would I ever want to be human, all humans do is kill the planet" statements in the presence of people included in those statements, which is insanely rude (and no, you don't get to "but you're different because you're nonhuman" me! you do not get to decide to ignore half of who I am because you don't like it, you do not get to decide I'm not "really" human, and also see the previous bullet point). this goes doubly if you're in a space like a DIscord server where people have expressly stated they're not comfortable being tacitly included in statements like that
saying "but I don't REALLY mean all humans, I just mean the specific ones at fault!" after the fact does not actually change anything if every other thing you say is constantly "humans humans humans" and not the group you're actually referring to, or at the very least doesn't change how it reads to everyone around you

Anyone au! Shouto vanished (whether he faked his death, ran away, other) before AFO'S jailbreak and took up camp as Izuku's consistantly worried roommate. During the tartarus break in he was pacing a hole in the apartment because Izuku was late and didn't answer his phone. His worrying was not abated with the cat that followed his crush/roommate home
1 - Shouto ran away and he's still declared missing. Endeavor is looking for him. The reason why the entire country isn't looking for him is because the HPSC panicked and hush the whole thing down so only the police and top heroes are aware of it.
2 - Izuku gave Shouto a new identity, a new hair color, a place to live and a place in his organization so he can earn money. Shouto thanked him for it. That apartment is used as a storage room because he never left Izuku's place. Izuku like having a roommate (oh sweet irony) and Shouto likes not living with his father but he also wasn't ready to live completely alone. They are ridiculously domestic.
3 - Izuku's not inviting Shouto to the Tartarus escapade is so much worse here because Izuku really left in the morning and return late at night while leaving Shouto worried sick the whole day. Oh, the argument. Oh, the passive aggressiveness. AFO is spying on them and just very "???" because he expected to see Inko and instead, there is another teenager in his home???
4 - Izuku, bless his soul, wakes up in the morning to a supervillain who is cooking him breakfast and to a best friend who is paralyzed in his chair and glaring daggers at All for One.
"Morning, Midoriya. Do you remember this nutjob of a supervillain you told me about yesterday? Do you remember how happy you were that you would never have to see him again?"
"I get it, it's the last time I ditched you for a dangerous mission."
"You are both adorable. Now eat your breakfasts and tell me why a One for All holder broke into Tartarus."
5 - All for One never manages to move in but it's not for a lack of trying. Sadly, Izuku has a strict "Only one roommate allowed" policy and literally chases him out with a broom every time he even attemps to settle down in his mother's appartment.
"Why can Shouto live here and not me?"
"Because I actually like Shouto. "
"Does your mother know you're living with another boy?"
"I am pretty sure she would prefer me living with my best friend than with a strange supervillain that followed me from prison."
6 - In this AU, Dabi doesn't join Anyone because he almost got arrested but because he learned about Shouto being missing, put a request (for Fuyumi's sake) and Shouto knocked at his door, curious about who was asking about him.
7 - AFO and Shouto actually get along more than you would imagine. Half of the time, Shouto is the one to open the door (once AFO is finished using his unlocking quirk) for him and always gives him tea and snacks to be polite, no matter how many times Izuku tells him not to feed strays or they will never leave.
8 - When Izuku does something especially stupid, he got to deal with two people at home ripping him a new one so he sometimes just goes and lives at the Todoroki house. The Todorokis never suspect his presence.
9 - Endeavor gets a more vested interest in Anyone because a vigilante with ice and fire is spotted. This is a problem, because Endeavor is a far better detective than All Might.

Thinkin about how saffron Evan’s lovelessness will manifest through his life beyond his teenage years.
I think saffron Evan does eventually get to a point where he genuinely feels like he loves (and is comfortable saying he loves) Mike, but I very much do NOT want Evan getting to this point to be framed as something that needs to happen, or it happening as a sign that Evan has "healed."
And Evan coming to love Mike again doesn't mean that Evan suddenly isn't loveless anymore. Someone being loveless doesn't necessarily mean they never love anyone or anything or that the someone will always be uncomfortable with love for as long as they live. Rather, being loveless is an understanding that loving is not the default way to be human and that it's okay to not love. Sometimes not loving anyone and/or being uncomfortable with love comes with the territory of being loveless, and sometimes it doesn't.
What he goes through gives Evan the understanding that not loving someone is okay, because Evan goes through a long period where he can't wholly love Mike again after what happened. And while Evan does eventually come to love Mike again, Evan’s understanding that it (loving anyone, including Mike) wasn't and will never be something that is required of Evan for him to be human/whole/not broken/etc is something that will always stick with him.
The thing that I've been really struggling with is how Evan's lovelessness intersects with Evan eventually adopting Gregory and Cassie. Evan is ofc still loveless by the time he adopts Greg and Cass, but Ev is also not uncomfortable with the idea of love anymore, and I can see him saying "I love you" to his kids.
But it's also difficult for me to reconcile the idea that no one (Evan included) is required to love with the idea that parents are meant to love their kids, and that every kid deserves to feel loved. At a first glance, I didn't know whether someone who is uncomfortable with describing the way they care about others as "love" going on to adopt kids was... a good idea.
Those uncomfortable with identifying with the word love can still care and want to protect and be there for their kids. That's what a parent should be. So it feels silly to say that someone shouldn't adopt (or have) kids because of something they can't control: discomfort with the word, and concept of, love. Even if you raise the argument that kids, especially younger kids, may not be able to understand why their parents will say "i care about you" instead of "i love you" and may feel hurt and unloved as a result, this can be avoided by just. Being open and genuine and straight forward with your kids from the get-go. Being open and communicating well is something that's expected from parents anyway, whether they have discomfort with the concept of love or not.
So... I guess the take away from that is obviously it's okay for people with a disconnect from the concept love to be around kids; I just have some internal biases that I need to work through.

People really don't seem to get that regardless of whatever feelings they have about Daniel, he's in Dubai because of Louis. Think of him however you like but he said it plainly, "hire a transcriber. I don't do puff portraiture anymore". Louis had the complete option of simply not contacting him, simply letting Daniel die in his own oblivion and irrelevance that even Daniel himself points out.
"Legacy? That's for board members and assholes in loafers". Armand doesn't seem to want Daniel in Dubai either because of what Louis may want Daniel to do (publish a book, risk other vampires to come after him). So for all the questioning and sarcasm Daniel throws at Louis, he's still an old man in his 70s with a developing disability, locked in a penthouse apartment with no way out with two old vampires who are more than capable of tearing him to shreds. That's his choice but it's also Louis' choice to even have him there. If Louis didn't want the sarcasm, the bitterness, the relentless questioning and invalidation of his (blatantly constructed) narrative, he wouldn't have taken to asking Daniel to interview him again. If this was solely about Armand, Louis' life story has absolutely zero to do with whatever went down with Armand and Daniel. Louis has followed Daniel's work, has read his autobiography. He knows Daniel's work even has a motif of unreliable memory that becomes obscured with time (or another vampire's mind-bending ability). Again, Daniel is in Dubai because of Louis. No one is demanding he continue an interview with an old mortal man whom he could just as easily kill with no one questioning anyone else about it afterwards. Daniel is of no importance to even his own family now, yet Louis still wants their interview to continue. Frankly for all of Daniel's dismissive comments, Louis has had every opportunity and chance to kill him already or shut him up, have his mind wiped and send him home. The fact that he doesn't is more glaring than anything else.

WHY IS EVERYONE IN SCARLET BLAZE BEING A DICK TO MY BOY ASHE! CHRIST, WHY'D NO ONE WARN ME THAT RECRUITING HIM JUST ENDS WITH HIM BEING EMOTIONALLY KICKED IN THE NUTS FOR 12 CHAPTERS STRAIGHT!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS BLACK EAGLE FRIENDSHIPS!!!
Anyways, Shez, Mercedes, Raphael, and Rodrigue are the only characters that passed the vibe check on how they treated Ashe (so far at least). Everyone else should reconsider their life choices

waitttttt a fucking second. how did Maruki know about Akechi and Akira.
the other thieves wishes n stuff comes from what they talk about during their counseling sessions and the general publics wishes are because of Maruki looking into Mementos. but at no point does Akira so much as mention Akechi to Maruki, Akechi and Maruki are never on screen at the same time before the third semester, n Akechi doesnt even Know the guy before then either. the thieves are the only ones who know about Akechi dying in the first place, and who knows how much even they know abt what went on between him and Akira, and Maruki has already left the school before we get CLOSE to that point..
that weird dream Akira has during the transition into the third semester was likely Marukis doing and couldve been written off as the point where Maruki like. tampered with his mind or something n saw All of That - but thats AFTER Akechi shows up out of nowhere!!!! what the hell!!!!!!

It *does* seem out if character that Isaac, Mr. data and experience above all else, Mr. I have done pretty much everything in my power to make Claire happy, wouldn't have jumped immediately into acquiring the emotion pathways on his *own* without prompting or needing an ultimatum given. Especially since Claire's response to him asking whether they're back together is "It'll feel right".
Like you can't tell me that mechanical brain didn't start whirring away at 100 km an hour like ah yes "feel right" I am incapable of "feeling right" bUT this is an opportunity to do so so I'm going to take it so I can "feel right" so we can achieve "couple" together again this is good I'm acing this relationship thing.
