everybody all like ‘oh Hunters reaction to Crosshair being captured vs his reaction to Omega is awfully telling’ telling of what? huh? yeah the capture of his daughter after watching his brother die is a liiitle different from the capture he isn’t even sure is real of a brother who has used similar tactics to trap them.
like yeah, if the last you knew about your bro was him choosing to fight for a fascist regime right after using a distress signal to trap you, you would be a little skeptical! and he still went to try and save Crosshair anyway, and lost Tech permanently and Omega temporarily in the process.
going to save your shady nazi supporting brother who’s done something similar in the past vs going to save your innocent kid daughter. there’s a bit of a different attitude going into both!
it just irks me. the audience is privy to his character development, the rest of the batch is not. there’s a lot of different factors to consider. and if you’re getting that Hunter doesn’t care about Crosshair, or he only cares about Omega and nothing else, you’re just wrong straight up.
#crosshair apologists I’m so tired please let hunter breathe for five seconds#your poor little meow meow has made so many mistakes that hunter as leader of the rest of his living siblings has to take into account#yes he’s gonna do anything to save his daughter and be more skeptical saving his (last he knew) fascist brother who tricked them last time#mimimi hunter saving omega vs saving crosshair like fuck you tech died trying to save him. fuck right off#I don’t care I will die on this hill <3 crosshair is a victim of the system yes he still chose to be their little cop#before anyone says anything yes tech was the one who stuck to saving crosshair more than hunter but hunter still went and planned it#tbb#the bad batch#the bad batch spoilers#tbb hunter#tbb crosshair#z speaks

Number 47 with tech? Nsfw if your up for it
Jealousy for the Senator
I wasn't sure what gender to do, but I looked at your account and saw it said "male" so I'm doing he/him pronouns. Hope that's okay, if not lemme know and I can change it 😎 with that being said I do apologize I’m not really up for bxb nsfw. No hate, just as a cis female I don’t wanna do something wrong or offend anyone, if that makes any sense? I hope you understand bromeo 👊😔
S/N = Senators Name. I wasn't sure what other Senator to use.
Tech x Reader: “You’re jealous, aren’t you?” “I’m not jealous!”
Warnings: angstish? Tech doubting himself, and you doubting yourself if you squint
Tech wasn't even sure how he landed you. A handsome, kind hearted senator. That he and his brothers saved from a separatist attack. Something you were so grateful for. You didn't care if they were defective. Anytime they were near your home world out in the outer rim. You always made it a point on letting them know they could visit and even stay at your home if it was easier.
They were reluctant at first. They assumed you were doing it out of pity. To be nice, but Tech couldn't get over how absolutely devine you were. He spent most of his free time looking you up on the holo and learning all he could about you. It didn't take long for his Ori'vods to catch on. Hunter deciding maybe a visit wouldn't hurt. Especially if it meant they all got to see Techs happy-go-lucky attitudewhen around you.
That was a mistake on Hunters behalf. Not only did Tech get the pleasure of seeing, and even being able to hang around you, but he and his other brothers. They got special treatment as well, and they all loved it. Hunter especially loved his bed he was given. Each had their seperate rooms. Meaning no bunking together. The walls were sound proof keeping Hunter isolated and able to sleep without waking up to whispers or even the light steps of his brothers. Besides Wrecker, he tried, but he was clumsy at times.
Crosshair found himself a shooting gallery with movable targets. Along with the ability to buy accessories for his gun. He didn't, even though you offered to pay for some if he wanted. He just liked browsing, and even the offer. The fact you wanted to spend your money on him. It made his view on you shift. Maybe not all Senators were stuck up snobs?
Wrecker found himself entranced by one of your gardeners. They would go on short walks around the long halls. Or out in the garden where they would explain to him the different flowers, and even let him pick some of the fruit. Which then the two would sit under a tree and eat them with one another. Eventually they found a stray Hoth Kitten. They begged for you to let them keep it, and you finally agreed.
Not only were you thankful for taking up your offer, but you were thankful for them being so nice and polite. Giving your home that special type of spice. Even if they did all have their.. well- moments.
Last but not least, there was Tech. He followed you anywhere you offered to take him. Which was about anywhere. He could be biased by the amount of love he had hidden away for you. But he swore you were the prettiest, most charming senator in the whole kriffing galaxy! Not only were you nice to him, but you were just as nice to his brothers. That in itself meant the world to the goggled clone.
The two of you, after about 8 visits and keeping in contact in between the visits. Decided to scavenge the courage to ironically ask one another out at the same time. You started, nervous, clammy palms. Darting eyes, and he finished. "You were gunna ask me out?" He spoke and you froze a bit. "You don't, yes, no, I mean, yeah I guess." You spoke, coughing into your sleeve as if it would hide the waver in your voice. "I was actually gunna see if you would let me take you out, my treat." His words were just as nervous, but he was more sure about himself than you seemed. He felt more confident knowing you felt the same. You both did.
He decided on taking you to a restaurant. It wasn't too fancy, nothing you needed to dress up for. But it wasn't 79's either. He had never been there, but apparently you had before. He had to borrow a fancier outfit. Due to the fact the fanciest thing he owned was his blacks. Or even his armor, since he got a new paint job, and you weren't about to let him humiliate himself on a first date.
He found you waiting outside. Dressed up just as evenly as he was. You smiling softly as you extended a hand for him, which he happily took. "Ready?" You questioned and he nodded. "Yeah."
The trip there wasn't too long, but it didn't keep the clone from fidgeting and rambling. "You know, that star over there is a planet. They say it's one of the most beautiful in the galaxy." He informed, looking out the window of the cab. Making you smile. Scooting closer while leaning against him a bit to catch a glimpse of the star. "Really?" His breath hitched a bit when he noticed how close to him you were. Making you smile.
He nodded as he looked over to you. Eyes staring into yours. "Yeah, but I beg to differ." You tilted your head a bit in question. Shifting so you were now just sitting next to him in the middle seat. A shoulder pressed to his. "How come?" You asked, and he smiled. "Because you're probably the most beautiful star I've ever seen," he spoke lowly. It wasn't like him to flirt, and even from the short time you have known him. You knew this.
Your smile was sheepish, and you looked down to your lap. "Tech, you're too kind." He smiled back in accomplishment. "Least I can do for how kind you are to us."
When the cab stopped the two of you exited. You didn't leave any time for him to even circle around the cab to help you out. You didn't really care for being enabled. Even if he was doing it out of the kindness of his heart.
That didn't stop him from holding your hand into the building and clear to the table, though. You leaning against his side. It had him screaming internally. He'd never felt so thrilled and happy over such a simple experience.
You followed beside him to the table. Only letting go of his hand when the waiter told you where you would be seated. The two of you sitting across from one another. Tips of you shoes pressed up against one anothers. Another simple act that had Tech practically howling.
You ordered, and then he did. After asking you what was good, of course. The two of you getting some dessert to share for after you finished your food. While waiting for food, though. You decided to strike up a conversation. "So, how was your last mission?" You asked, prepared for a ramble and a half. That was something you enjoyed about him. How passionate he was about nearly everything.
"It was alright, had a near scare there with some of the droids." Your furrowed your brows. "Did you get hurt?" He paused, and then nodded. Noticing the concern written on your face. "Don't worry Cyar'ika. It isn’t anything severe, just a cut on my abdomen and a few bruises. Wrecker got it worse, but you know him. He was too happy to see his Sarad." You watched him with a small smile. "What's a Sarad?" You didn't speak Mando'a, and he knew this. But he was happy to tell. "It means flower, that's what he calls the gardener. His Ner Sarad." You smiled at that, you were happy he had made a friend, or what may even be more than a friend. You weren't about to judge.
You opened your mouth, ready to ask what Cyar'ika meant, but you were interrupted by a hand on your shoulder. Making you flinch just a bit as it caught you off guard. "Woah, woah, Senator Y/L/N, Calm down. Just a friend here to say hello." Anither Senator was there to your surprise. "Oh, S/N! Funny seeing you here." You spoke, looking up to him with a grin. Standing to meet them and catch them in a quick hug. Then seating yourself once more.
They looked to you, and nodded. "Yeah, I figured I'd stop by and see you. I didn't expect to see you here, honestly." They told you. Then looked over to Tech. Who was staring at them with a glint of displeasure in his eyes. He wasn't sure who they were, but they were taking away from the short time he had with you, and he didn't like it one bit. "Who's this?" Tech asked, and you nearly cursed yourself for being so informal. "Tech, this is Senator S/N, we worked together before I became Senator." S/N smirked at that, "you were always the most handsome there, too. He gives the best hugs as well. Has he given you a hug?" S/N asked Tech, and Tech shook his head, muttering a quick 'no.' "Shame," they added, and you interrupted with a quick and nervous chuckle. "Haha, anyways, S/N, this is Tech. He's a good friend of mine, part of Clone Force 99, he saved me from that attempted assassination on me a while back." You added, looking to the clone with a loving smile.
That reassured Tech a bit, but what chased that aways was when S/N leaned down and whispered something in your ear. 'A clone? You date clones now, hm? You always know where to find me if this doesn't work out,' is what he thought he heard. He wasn't 100% sure though. That bugged him, out his on edge. Especially when he saw your face turn pink with embarrassment.
He was thankful when they left. Watching the Senator drift off while glaring dagger at him. "Tech," he didn't hear you. Too lost in thought. Was this a mistake? Should he have listened to the little voice in his head. Reminding him he was a defective clone that didn't deserve nor could attain the love of a senator like you? "Tech!" You raised your voice again, and he came back to. Looking at you with a bit of shock in his eyes. As if he didn't realize he zoned out.
You reached over to place a hand on his. Frowning a bit when he flinched. "You alright?" "They seemed.. Judgeful." He spoke. Making you sigh. "They're like that, it's fine though, don't let them get to you," but how could he when he saw the way they looked at you? The way you two already knew each other. How much closer you two seemed. It had his brain turning for answers that would go unsaid.
The whole night was practically ruined for Tech, but he tried to keep up his positive attitude for you. So he wouldn't ruin yours, but you could see past his mask. The glint of uneasiness in his eyes. The way his eyes darted everywhere but to yours. Or even just the way he picked at his food and his hands trembled ever so lightly. You couldn't help but wonder if this was a mistake on your behalf. You didn't feel you were good enough for the man now.
When the two of you left the building. S/N stopped you to give you a quick kiss on the cheek and a lingering goodbye. Tech began walking off before you even noticed. Though when you did you cut the conversation short and ran after the taller male. "Tech, wait! What's wrong, please talk to me!" You spoke. Reaching out to grab his wrist, but he snatched it away. Turning to face you with a hurt expression, but it softened a bit. "Does everyone greet you like that? Like they want to jump you the moment they see you?" He asked, and you were a bit taken back. Picking at the palm of your hand. Looking down then back up to the other. "No, not everyone, Tech. Why?" You asked with a bit of a frown and he shook his head. "Nothing," "you're jealous, aren’t you?" You blurted. Catching the man off guard. "What? No! I'm not jealous!" His voice raising an octave and you sighed. Walking up to him.
Watching as his eyes scanned your face, then looked away. "I'm not jealous, I'm just.. I don't like how he talked to you, he acted like he owned you, and he doesn't. No one does, or- or they should.. shouldn't" He rambled. Beginning to stammer and stumble on his words when you reached up to cup his face with your hands. "Tech," he watched you for a moment before answering. "Yes?" "I like you, more than a friend wise, I'm not about to run off with some arrogant ass when I have you right here." You reassured. Feeling him relax under your touch.
His eyes softened, bringing a hand up to hold the back of one of your hands. His other hand holding at your waist. The two of you stood like this for what felt like hours, but was probably only a minute or two. "So, how about you take me home.." you trailed off, looking down. Bringing your hands down to play with the cuff of his shirt. "And I'll show you there's nothing to be jealous over, hm?"

My Love| Echo (part 6 beejesus...)

Warnings: sad flashbacks, death and disease mentioned, cannablistic mentions (not eating anyone but like the word), cursing,
Reader: Male
Part: 1 | 2 | 3 | 3.5 | 4 | 5 | 6 (you're hah here)
Masterlist
That wasn't possible.
"What a shame." Maul spoke, turning himself around and walking away the Pyke leader following him.
This was wrong.
"If we came for this it better be important." Hunter spoke snatching the drive, "we leave now,"
"Me and Jacob they'll return you to your ship." The teen spoke up, "but be quick we'll need to leave with the transports."
It was a silent stealthy journey back to the ship, Echo being pushed along the way by Wrecker mostly as he was trying to process what was being told to him.
So...Y/n was dead? No that was possible- they couldn't of killed everyone.
He walked onto the ship the twins wishing them luck as they rushed back off into the darkness. He took a seat on his bunk, removing the head gear and mask, his gaze trapped within the grain of the metal.
"Tech get us out of here." Hunter demanded.
Wrecker watched Echo, his brows furrowed and in conflict.
"Hey. Kid." Wrecker spoke nudging Omega softly, "Good job out there."
"I just stuck to the plan." She smiled.
"Wanna do one more mission?" He asked playfully she nodded happily.
"Go find Lula. I think someone needs her." Wrecker spoke as Omega nodded rushing to find the Tooka doll.
Wrecker walked over to Echo, sitting across from the reg, Echo kept his gaze down.
"Hey."
"I don't, I don't understand." Echo responded, "I- I don't..."
"It's okay-" Wrecker tried to speak.
"But it isnt." Echo seethed.
The sudden jolt told them they had jumped to hyperspace. Echo rubbed over his eyes.
"What was Y/n's family doing associated with the Empire..." Echo spoke, "I...I don't..."
Wrecker frowned, Hunter watching the cockpits doorway, his brother lost and confused, let down and heart broken.
Walking into the cockpit the door closed behind him.
"You'll want to see this Hunter." Tech spoke, "Echo was right."
Hunter took a seat, "Y/n's code name is Rosyln then?"
"In a sense yes, yet It is many things." Tech informed, "It's multiple things, a name, a code name, a secret military operation."
" a what." Hunter demanded answers now.
"On this disk it says Project Rosyln was ment to help in implicating...hunger in a sense.."
"Hunger?" Hunter asked, "Hunger for what?"
"Flesh, sentinel flesh," Tech responded, "They had many failis dead on contacts, until. Rosyln."
"The dead brother of Y/n's Echo mention." Hunter spoke as Tech nodded.
"He survived it, partially, resulting in an outdated inner rim disease known as Cancer." Tech responded, "though it is not sepcified what type, he died young."
"So how does Y/n fit into it?"
"Rosyln was Y/n's younger brother by adoption law on corosaunt, and the Zabrack was not lying when he said The L/n family was ontop the imperals kill list, it was ment for them to go into hiding, to essentially metophorically and phsycially slip into the dark." Tech contuined.
"Okay so the kids?"
"Test subjects." He responded, "farm animals, future death troopers fueled by anger and loss, much more. Hunter, They weren't a family, those people they called there parents? Used them."
"Can we save any of them? Y/n? The older kids? The young ones? Anyone?" Hunter questioned.
"This here is a list of kids of Y/n's family," Tech spoke, plugging into the panel infront of him as the hologram formed, "red are dead, there eay of leaving is by there name. Jay here died of rejection of food, he starved to death. Siora drowned herself in the shower room-"
"Thats enough Tech. Who's alive." Hunter demanded.
"Y/n here is still alive, but that is all." Tech responded opening the file, "but has a number of unstablizing test ran on him, it shows here his diet was starting to change from normal foods to sential flesh, but before they could change him fully he escaped."
"How."
"Unknown."
Hunter was silent, for a moment as Tech closed the file, going through the others, "This also contains other information, such as helpful codes the imperals are now using, current inflation in imperal troopers, comn chatter and resources-"
"Don't let Echo see this." Hunter spoke.
"Hunter, I. I don't think this is a good idea." Tech told him, "You'e seen what he'll go through already to see him again. Hunter that was a sith he went up on, a Pyke leader."
"He doesn't need another thing to have a mental break down on. What happens if we find Y/n? Dead in a ditch-." Hunter argued, "if we can't fix him- we can't even help Crosshair None the less ourselves!"
"Hunter, he deserves to know." Tech defended, "let's be real here Hunter, we've nevee been there for him, we saved him from one hell to put into another, we can't help him because we don't understand him."
Hunter was silent, he knew Tech was right, "You're right." Hunter told him.
Tech pulled the disk from the panel looking back at Hunter, "Hunter I know this is hard. But this is his family. And I wish for a time in my life, I was wrong."
Hunter stayed silent walking out the cockpit, and down the small hallways, Omega trying to cheer Echo up with Lula and Wrecker with a supportive smile.
"Echo."
Echo looked back, "Tech wants to uh...show you something."
Echo got up without a word walking into the cockpit.
"Is he gonna be okay?" Omega questioned looking up at Hunter.
"Sure he will!" Wrecker tried to stay postive looking back at Hunter who kept his gaze down.
"Not this time Omega." Hunter told her, as she leaned in for a hug, he patting her head as she hug his stomach.
Tech walked out the cockpit, the doors closing behind him, "Echo wishes to take first watch while we rest," Tech informed.
"Where do we go next from here?" Omega spoke looking up at Hunter.
"We'll keep working jobs for Cid, seeing what we can do." Hunter responded, "Tech when Echo is done with that disk, see if anything on there has Crosshair on it."
"I have alredy copied the disk, I will look through it more on my watch after Echo's." Tech responded.
Hunter nodded
"hey kid." Wrecker spoke up, "lets go play a game together."
Omega nodded as Wrecker picked up Omega the two walking away to her room, Hunter mentally thanking Wrecker.
"How'd he react." Hunter responded.
"He hasn't." Tech responded, "I left it plugged in. He has the option. I just don't know if he's used it."
It was true, Echo had the option, the wanting, but he sat in his chair, staring at the disk sitting in the panel.
This was it.
This was the ticket, he could know, move on, grt some type of closure either Y/n was dead or alive. Even if Y/n was dead or alive he let Y/n's biggest secret slip.
'Just...I don't like people to pity his name.' Y/n told Echo, the two standing in all black together and umbrella over head as they walked the cemetery, 'he fought hard, that's all that matters, and there's no reason you should pity someone for when you loose,'
Echo nodded at him, 'I won't tell anybody, I understand to a degree, but if you need to talk, I want to listen,'
Y/n nodded, 'Thanks again for comin along Echo, not the best way to meet my baby brother,''
'I was glad to meet him, either way,'
Echo rubbed the back of his neck, finger's scratching at his nape. Standing up and walking over his hand hovered over the disk, should he pull it out? Should he press that small white button to let every fear he's had consume him?
He pulled the disk out, this was the right choice. Whatever he needed to know. He'd learn from y/n when he'd see him. Rubbing over the disk he slid it in his belts pouch and sat in the piolts seat looking out into the blue swirls. He was doing it again.
Sitting in silence, watching nothing new pass him by. Y/n was alive, if the others believed it or not was there choice, it was there opinion, he knew what he was saying was a fact, and he didn't need no disk to tell him so.
But the question still remained, Why was Y/n involved in crime syndicates and with Sith?"
The male turned himself around shoulder hair length, strings of white in his hair; stress induced.
"It's done." Lom Pyke spoke, "The kids are out, where is the spice."
"It's on the ship don't you worry." He spoke.
"You've returned the favor after I've said you returned the favor."
"Then we've returned the favor." Lom Pyke argued.
"I did everything you asked!" Lom Pyke argued, "I've stuck my neck out for you more than you can imagine you cannablistic bitch!-"
The pyke leader was cut off, lifted into the air as he gripped at his neck, and brought forward quickly, choking on the lack of air.
"Do you know who I am?" The man questioned quietly.
"L-let-" the pyke tried to speak stratching at his neck for breath, "let me g-go!"
"Oh...you don't?" The man questioned, "I was afraid once...not to long ago, afraid as you are now..."
The sound of choking made him pause adding slight pressure, "p-please!"
"I am no longer afraid...I am..." the man thought, any more and the pyke leader would die, "Well, funny thing is, I don't even know who I am anymore...but I do know, that, you, owe me much more than you think."
The man was dropped to the floor, attempting to catch air, "Perhaps, you wish, once to see who I was, to see how I became this thing you call a cannablistic bitch!"
"Please! No-" He defended, raising his head to look up in plead, "Not again! Not that place!"
A hand was placed on his head, as the Sith lord walked in. Within a matter of seconds the Pyke fell limp, the man pushing him over as he fell and rolled down the small stells of the elevated ledge.
"You're here for a reason Maul?"
"I am indeed, that clone, you told to meet us on Zut, there were clones."
"Entertain me Maul." He spoke, walking down the small steps, the hells of his boots clicking as he made it down the steps.
"Seems you're little buddy Captain dipshit isnt the only clone that's defected. That little Ray shit of your's hacked the imperal files." Maul spoke, his tone as usual, dark, broody, annoying to the mans ears, "Clone force 99, may just be on our side."
The man snatched the datapad from him, "and they have a child with them. How wonderful."
"Status' as of current."
"Like I said that dipshit of yours sursingly has his corners covered. Ray's tracking them as we speak." Maul told.
The man looked through the photo's there he was in all his glory, sure angry but just as remembered.
"Lets hope an ex sith lord, a fucked up group of clones, a cannablistic bitch kill, and some kids can help kill your old ass wrinkly master." The man spoke Maul snatching the data pad back and making his leave.
"Oh. And one know's who you are." Maul responded standing in the door way, "Before I gave them anything, one knew Rosyln is Y/n,"

Can we get a fic where the bad batch is on a mission and they find a SUPER shy 16 year old girl (the reader) who lost her parents in the war. The men take the reader with them and take care of her. But they don’t know that the reader has been trained in advanced martial arts her entire life and they find this out when the reader takes out a bunch of droids by herself. The bad batch take the reader in as their little sister in the end.
kinda long, i hope thats okay, and as always i really hope you enjoy it!
You’re found underneath a mountain made of rumble, mud, water and ash. The Bad Batch takes hours moving debris for Wrecker to pull you out of a still smoking room that was once your family's apartment.
Your people were an interesting folk, training their young in intense forms of defensive combat. You could speak more languages than you could count on your fingers, and years of being taught anything and everything, one could consider you to be a perfect soldier. Except for the fact that your people dedicated themselves to the natural wonders of the universe and were neutral in every notable war the republic had ever seen.
The separatists did not see it that way.
“What do we do with it?” Crosshair asked when they returned to the camp, you haven't said a word. And clone force 99 was starting to wonder if you even spoke basic. So far you had only moved when necessary and they only realized you were even human once the dust, mud and blood had been cleared from your face.
“I think the ‘it’ is actually a ‘she’.” Tech corrects side-eyeing you from where you sit close to their fire.
“What are we going to do with she?” Crosshair repeated, annoyed. But enjoying the mumbling from his brother about ‘grammatical insolence.’ Wrecker and Tech both shrugged as Hunter sighed and took a plate of rations over to you.
“Hey, you need to eat.” He said pushing the plate towards you, watching as you watched the plate, but made no move towards it.
“Can you tell me your name?” Hunter asked, trying his hardest to sound not like a hardened military sergeant. He sees your lips move but can barely make out the sound that travels past them. “Can you just be a bit louder maybe?” He asks for the first time ever, given his enhanced hearing. He catches your name as it wisps by him, repeating it to make sure he’s got it right.
“Do you have anyone? Anyone off-world or that might still be…” He stops himself before the word ‘alive’. And you shake your head ‘no’ anyways. It’s only after Hunter gets up to leave that you slowly reach for the plate of food.
“She has to come with us.” Hunter relays to the group, who are keeping their distance from the shy young girl they’ve found. Each member nods, none of them seem to know what to do with you, but they know you’re safest with the Bad Batch.
It takes weeks before any of them hear your voice, your real voice. So far you’ve stuck to mumbles, nods and hand gestures. No one seems to mind, except for when you make Wrecker jump out of his skin when you seemingly appear out of nowhere.
“Crosshair you di'kut!” Tech shouts one morning running into the main area of the Havoc Marauder. Everyone has to suppress a chuckle at the sound of Huttese coming from his helmet. “How in the kriff am I supposed to fix this?” Tech throws his hands in the air, slamming his bucket on the table.
“Would you like me to fix it?” You offer from your corner of the ship. Stunning everyone into silence. “I am fluent in huttese.” You explain reaching for Tech's helmet, and matching holopad. No one says anything as you tap a few things and place it back down.
“Thank you, mirdala.” Tech says in awe. Opting to compliment you in mando’a rather than basic as to not make you uncomfortable.
“I also speak mando’a.” You add, looking at him with a smile.
“Kandosii'la!” He exclaims happily, “nice to finally have some more brains around here.” Tech smiles at you while his brothers come over the shock of hearing your voice properly for the first time.
After that morning things begin to shift a little bit. The batch takes to calling you mirdala as a nickname and constant compliment. (And to try and get you out of the sarlacc pit of shyness you live in.) And you slowly start to chat rather than just talk with the men you find yourself in the company of. Yet you still don’t talk about your home at all, eventually they stop asking. Until one day Hunter presses a small blaster into your hands while the five of you are standing on the ramp of the marauder.
“Just a precaution, this place shouldn't be dangerous. But I'd rather you have it and not need it then need it and not have it.” He tells you, and places a hand on your shoulder. “Know how to use it?” You nod, flipping it around in your hand, it’s foreign and familiar all at once. The click of the safety sounds a bit janky and the hilt is slightly off kilter. Hunter watches you inspect the blaster with the precision of a GAR clone.
“Thank you.” You say to him, tucking it away, and following the group off the ramp and into the market.
It takes all of one half of an hour for all hell to break loose. One battalion of droids verses one bad batch’s Wrecker didn’t exactly go well, the two of you attacked from behind unsuspectingly leading him into throwing you onto the nearest roof and going through the droids one by one. You hear the whir of commando droids before you see them and take off, launching yourself onto the next roof as blaster bolts rush by. Running through the second market that rests on the rooftops of the one below you dash between stalls, people and droids as you scramble away. One last jump into what you think is the side of a building but is actually air covered by a mass of cloth sends you into the ground below winding you.
“Mirdala!” Crosshair shouts in surprise as you seem to literally fall from the sky above him. This brief distraction allows for a droid to take a shot at him and you know he’s too preoccupied to save you.
That's fine, you don’t need saying anyways.
Falling into a fighting stance is so familiar to your muscles, you could close your eyes and you’d be back in your training centre. It feels so real you can almost smell it. Elbows and feet fly, echoes of advice ring in your ears. ‘Your elbows carry power, your feet are the most important weapons, stance is everything.” At this point the blaster is basically useless, you’re the weapon Hunter wished you didn’t need. And so when Crosshair barrels into you, throwing the two of you behind a crate as a detonator goes off, you both face plant into the ground.
“You okay Mirdala?” Tech asks pulling you off the ground, dusting your shoulders off.
“Where is everyone?” You ask worriedly looking around for everyone, once you see Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair near you, you begin to calm down. Wrecker comes over to you looking far too happy for a man who was just in battle.
“That was amazing Mirdala! Shoulda seen ‘er Sarge!” He says nudging Hunter harshly. You can’t help but blush as Wrecker rentals how you flew from building to building. Letting Crosshair summarize your skills with ‘she fights well.’ (Before taking over and gushing about you again.)
You’re sitting outside as the sunsets, being alone is preferable right now. Today was, for lack of a better term, a lot. But of course, naturally, the Batch joins you.
“You ever gunna open up to us mirdala?” Hunter bluntly asks, looking scared and worried. You nod but stop yourself, pushing the shyness for a verbal answer.
“Yes, just not used to it.” it's a short answer, much shorter than it should be. But it’s a small win and Hunter is happy for it.
“I researched your home world, were you going to tell us about your skills?” Tech asks, eyes meeting yours.
“I thought it was normal.” You explain, looking around for others before sighing. “I’ve never been off-world before, not even outside of my city. This is very unusual for me.” You say trying to explain that your people keep to themselves even where they're around those they trust.
“What else can you do?” Wrecker chimes in, curious as ever. But adds “never mind” when Crosshair elbows him.
“You’re trained like us...” The sniper says, catching the curves of a small smile beginning when he says this. “Vod’ika.” He adds slowly, careful to watch your face to make sure he didn't upset you.
“Come out of your shell vod’ika, our shell most certainly has room for one more.” Hunter says, looking not at you but at the setting suns of the planet.
“I always wanted a little sister!” Wrecker encourages with an excited hop. You turn to Tech waiting for his take on the situation.
“Makes logical sense.” He teases, putting his helmet over your head. “Fits well, looks good vod’ika.” The helmet doesn't fit at all, flopping from side to side as you look around.
“Sounds good to me ori'vod.” you say with a lopsided smile on your face. As the suns finally start to turn into stars.
“Aliit ori'shya tal'din” Hunter says, prompting his brother to repeat it after him.
“Family is more than blood.” You translate to basic stunning at the touching words.
“Come lil’ sister. It’s kriffing cold out here.” Crosshair says getting up off the ground, Wrecker immediately scrambles to piggyback you to the ship. The five of you teasing each other and laughing all the way.
