I see people getting enthusiastic about the player polycule but will they still be there when I'll start talking about JoshBeat, BeatShiki and Joshiki? not so sure. a shame since those three ships are extremely interesting as well
#you might tell me. but Léa they don't interact a lot! in fact Shiki and Joshua never interacted at all! how can we be there for that?#MY FRIENDS. i don't care <3#the important part is the POTENTIAL of the dynamic!! what you can create!!#JoshBeat? the funny potential is too powerful here. it could be literally anything.#Beat is just too easy to mess with and Joshua certainly won't hesitate#but tbh i'm also a big fan of the idea of two characters who don't like to show weakness#(Beat because he believes he has to be strong to protect Rhyme)#(And joshua because... it's Joshua. he likes being in control of everything and showing weakness is not being in control#it requires trust. trust in the one you're with that they won't use that weakness against you. trust that they'll help you.#that they won't push you further down.)#and i dunno. the idea of these two trusting eachother enough to be vulnerable with eachother#it's so soft and cute. i love it#BeatShiki? can we talk about beatshiki for a sec. they're so sweet. remember how they immediately became friends when they met?#Beat hating Neku's guts but still accepting to help them because it was for Shiki?#the wait? the wait during 3 years as they were the closest ones from Neku#drifting apart to the point that Beat doesn't recognise Mr Mew anymore? what happened?#the idea of being different but wanting the same thing. aiming for the same goal. sharing something despite these differences#being brought together by that similarity despite everything else and sticking together because they're the only one who get you#they're the only one who knows what it's like to lose someone like Neku. to not know where he is. to wait or look for him everyday#joshiki? did you guys forget how Shiki was the one to ever break Neku's shell of self-isolation against the world?#and how much this characteristic of Neku is paralleled with Joshua?#don't you think it would be interesting to have her meet him? see how much she could change him?#also it would be funny af to have Shiki (extremely easily flustered person) and Joshua (big flirt) interact. you cannot disagree.#it would be hilarious. anyway i'm very normal about these three ships as you can see#léa rambles#twewy#hachicule#beatshiki#joshiki#joshbeat

Chapter 4, everything is the same in the beginning but instead with the princesses saying goodbye to them since they have no where else to go. Alice saying goodbye to Riddle and making sure he is alright with his mom and Belle saying goodbye to Leona and making sure he deals with his family issues. Of course the Disney princesses making sure to keep things warm with Jasmine helping out but stumble upon Jamil cooking with his dorm mates. Jamil luring Jasmine to his dorm room for his plan but also since he wants to know her.
Jasmine is amaze on how similar her old home is and meet up with Kalim which Jasmine can't help but get along with him since she reminds him of her father. They become close which made Jamil jealous as to why she is close to him.
Of course everything is the same and Jasmine is shocked to learn about Kalim going 180. She ended up being trapped in the dorm which worries the other Disney princesses as they realize she is Scarabia not to mentioned to Tiana and Elsa's surprise given Kalim is the nicest dorm leader ever.
They try their best to help her escape and so they have help from Octavinelle. Then events happened and they suspect Jamil. Then they tricked him and in which they learn how he hated Kalim and everything else. He gone overblot as not just kalim and the octavinelle but the princesses too as they are away except Jasmine given his fascination to her.
I also think Jasmine distract her by kissing him in which surprised the rest and also frustrate on some of the men given they never done a kiss with any of the girls. Also think of this funny scene...
Anyone : Rick em Rack em Rock em, rake. Stick that sword into that snake.
Jamil: You stay out of this.
Anyone: Jamil Jamil, here's our man. If he can't do it...GREAT!
I figure once this is over, Jasmine make sure to help Kalim and Jamil be good friends to one another despite Jamil not wanting to. Also it might be awkward for Jamil and Jasmine to be around given what happened. But Jasmine will help him in his issues...
Then we have this hilarious moment when Ace and Deuce came, some of the princesses can't have but find it heartwarming that they came.
Unlike with some of the other books where it's a bit more of a group effort, I think book 4 is Jasmines solo adventure. It's just her and Grim in Scarabia while all the others scrambling to look for them. Because they all took turns and divided up their fireplace chore, and it was Grim and Jasmine together when they brought fire wood to the mess hall and meet Jamil and the Scarabia students.
Jasmine immediately recognizes everything that they're making and her home sickness is in full force. All this stuff is so familiar, Jamil notices and extends an invitation, to which Jasmine accepts and Grim, of course ,tags along. Like you said, Jasmine is immediately taken with the Scarabia dorm, it's exactly like home and Kalim is exactly like her dad when he was young, so they are immediately on the same wavelength. It really is a shock and kinda hurts more when Kalim does his 180 mood swings, and of course like in the game, Jasmine gets trapped in the dorm and is forced to do the training with them.
Meanwhile all the princess are freaking out, looking everywhere. "Where's Jasmine and Grim? She won't answer her phone. We can't find her anywhere!" It isn't until at night when she and Grim are locked in their guest room is she able to send a message to the group chat, that includes Ace and Deuce, that they're trapped in Scarabia.
Of course, the first thing is for Tiana, Elsa, Mulan, and Merida, to march down to Scarabia first thing in the morning and demand to know where Jasmine and Grim are. The students standing guard play dumb, say they aren't here and to leave. Elsa demands to speak with Kalim but they get 180 Kalim and he demands that the girls leave and how dare they trespass in their dorm. Then a bunch of Scarabia students gang up and outnumber them and send them out.
They keep trying a few more times with the same results. Meanwhile in Jasmines end, she's getting along great with Jamil, despite everything going on. The two get very close while she's stuck there. But Jasmine is still trying to escape and like in game, she and manage to highjack the magic carpet and go flying through the mirror. She crashes into Octavinelle right as Tiana is asking Azul for help to get her out. Wonderful timing. Thats when they hatch the plan.
Jasmine, the Octo trio, Grim, and Elsa and Mulan for backup, return to Scarabia and things play out the same as they did in game. Jasmine is genuinely really hurt to know Jamil was behind all this and trapping her here was just another ploy to make Kalim look crazy in front of the other students. She was really starting to like him and now she feels so used. Jamil Overblots and sends everyone but Jasmine flying.
Jasmine does her best to bide her time till the others return, hoping she can talk Jamil down and to snap out of it in some way, to no avail. She sees the others sneaking back in, and thinking on her feet, kisses Overblot Jamil as a distraction so the others can have the element of surprise and attack.
They save Jamil and everything plays out as it did before. But as you said, everything between them is weird and awkward now. Jasmine is questioning what was a real connection and what was her being manipulated. Jamil is going to have to work for her trust back.
Ace and Deuce show up to Scarabia in time for the party. The princesses tell them that they missed everything, but appreciate them coming in a time of crisis. Maybe have a group hug. End of book 4.

I really love how the losers really saw each other in the best way possible when no one else did. Bill, who was never listened to by adults and even kids his own age because of his stutter, actually got to be the voice of the group. He was listened to, and his words were respected and had a lot of weight and meaning to everything the group did. Words were the thing he tried to avoid the most, but to the losers everything he said meant something. Maybe, without him even realizing it, they were the first who gave his words validation, and not just verbally. And so he became a writer who's voice was heard all around the world.
Richie, who's big mouth always got him in trouble, got the group out of some of their darkest times because of his lack of tact. Not only did his jokes brought a much needed lightness to their mood, but he called things out the way they were. He was never actually mean when he laughed at the other losers, and by laughing at their weaknesses he did what later on turned out to be such a valuable tool for them against pennywise- their fears and insecurities, who were their own little monsters, shrank. They didn't hold as much weight as they used to. Bill's stutter, ben's weight, they just became something to laugh about.
Eddie is quite interesting to me here because for most of his life, he's been observing things from the side. 'Don't run around eddie, you might fall', 'stay away from dirty places or you may get sick'. Eddie has spent so long not doing the things that he longed to do, but he's been watching. It was never specified in the book, but i truly believe that eddie is far more observant than what he let people think. Because when you can't bring yourself to take an active part in life, you watch and you learn. And i think that him paying attention the way he did (and the reddie shipper in me is gonna jump out for a second and say that he was paying attention to richie, especially) made him notice pennywise's true weakness- he works on belief. So if eddie has been watching richie's jokes taking all the power out someone's fear, then who's to say the same rules don't apply to the clown who's haunting them? Pennywise is fear, therefore he's only as big as you allow him to be.
Beverly is the glue of the group. As someone who's been isolated not just by her father who wanted her all to himself, but by the girls who were supposed to be her friends, no one understood the importance of sticking together more than she did. It's something she's never had before, that safety net, and once she had it she knew how powerful it is. When the group split up, she was the only one who really seemed to understand what it meant. And pennywise choosing to take her out of all of them while they were apart proves it. She's the glue, and she was what's gonna bring them all together again. And you see it as they get older, too- she gave eddie his courage and richie the acceptance he needed.
Ben's case is actually quite similar to bev. He was the new kid on the block, the fat kid who was being mocked. I think beverly's role compliments his in such a powerful way, because they were both loners before they found the losers, and they both understood the power they had as a group. Ben never ceased to be kind even before he actually knew them. In the book, he stayed with eddie and helped him relax while he had an asthma attack despite not knowing him. He helped bill and eddie to fix the dam they built. And as adults, he was the one running after everybody, making sure they're okay and that they stick together.
Mike has been haunted by history for all of his life. His heritage, his family- history has been the main source of pain and shame for him throughout his life. But with the losers, what better advantage did he have than knowing all the stories there were to know about the town's history, about man's cruelty, and most importantly- about tradition and brotherhood, which later on led him to the ritual of chud and gave the losers the tools to confront pennywise.
Stanley, the scared little boy, was sometimes too calculated for his own good, in a way that could paralyze him, and yet it had such a big part in helping the losers kill pennywise. Even in his death he gave the losers what they needed- richie nearly left derry for good before he remembered stanley, which reminded him why they were really doing this in the first place. And in stan's letter it turned out that he knew exactly what he was doing when he killed himself- that was a calculated act, only this time driven by love rather than fear.
Some of that is just my interpertation of things, but i truly love how in each other's company, not only did their weaknesses turn into their strengths, but they were also something they learned to control. Fear became managable when they were together, and so they could use it for their advantage.
