cyberpunk at its core is about speculative dystopia. fantastical developments that should benefit society but exist in a system fundamentally designed to beat people down. alluring transhumanism imprisoned by money, class, and other axes of oppression. it's about the real world issue of new and exciting technology corrupted by the world that produces it.
armored core stands out against the common war stories in mecha. it's about gig workers risking their lives thanklessly to kill poor people just to survive and get ahead. even while the entire system around them crumbles
dorohedoro is a story about a stratified society where incredible magic that could be shared to benefit others is used in petty arguments and 'experiments' on those treated as subhuman. it's about how hierarchy creates struggle for everyone, but the blood and tears always runs down to the bottom.
i do love the basic cyberpunk aesthetic. the edgerunners kind, the blade runner kind, like ghost in the shell and gunnm. sci-fi, cybernetics, robots and cities are dear to me. but when you put on the skin of a dystopian genre without knowing what the bones look like, you make something that isn't just bad. it's insulting.
i live here. i know how it goes. the robot dogs are cops and my smartphone was obsolete when i bought it. the air quality is garbage and my health is a mess because my government treats corporations more like people than me, even though we can magically cure or prevent almost any ailment. there are more vacant houses than homeless people. it's theft to take food out of the garbage.
cyberpunk is a city full of vacant buildings and streets full of poor people. it's a raspberry pi duct taped to a cybernetic arm to intercept advertisements before they reach your brain. it's a gig economy that forces you to work overtime just to get paid enough to eat. isn't it frustrating? isn't it frustrating that we have to live like this? flying cars, body augments, virtual reality, and we still live like this.

The Unsolved Mystery of Silco's left Eye (an analysis on shimmer and eyes)
Silco, the main antagonist in Arcane, has two different color eyes. One is a normal looking teal eye and the other is a black eye with a orange, muddy iris. When we only had season one, it was assumed his left eye looked the way it did due to the injury he obtained when he was attacked by Vander and the river toxins mixed with his bodily fluids.
Tumblr media
But in season two we got to see an alternate reality! Silco and in that AU, Silco's left eye is completely different. Instead of being black and orange it's just kinda gray and normal looking. Very similar to the way blindness is portrayed in animation. This is interesting because Silco isn't blind in the AU or in the actual reality. His non normal eye looks around and matches his normal eye's movement, they coordinate together. Silco also never makes any comment about lacking any sort of vision, so it seems that he has retained at least most of his vision despite his major injury. Speaking of which, even Silco's injury itself is different in the AU. It's smaller and less dark than it is in reality.
Tumblr media
This made people begin to ask why Silco's eye was different even though Silco obtained the same injury in both universes. Some suggested that the reason was shimmer, but I brushed that aside because I didn't really see how or why that would be. However, now that I think about it months after the fact, there actually IS a place we've seen a similar thing with shimmer and eyes.
Tumblr media
Now admittedly this is VERY similar but this isn't exact to what Silco has. This is Deckard after consuming only one vial of shimmer. Even though his sclera is black like Silco's, which would suggest that shimmer is responsible for Silco's black sclera, notice how Deckard's iris is still a clear shape. It isn't like Silco's, which isn't perfectly circular. Deckard has also maintained his natural eye color, blue, once he takes Shimmer. This did not occur with Silco, Silco's left iris ended up changing a completely different color. The most compelling difference, however, is that Deckard's eyes actually REVERT back to their original color once the effects of Shimmer have worn off. This is interesting because once again, Silco is not the same way, his left eye is permanently black and orange.
So if shimmer did cause Silco's eye to change so drastically, then why was this the case when we know for others it didn't work that way? If shimmer had no effect on Silco's eye then why was he taking a shot of shimmer on the daily just for his eye? What was the purpose of it? Was it pain? Does this mean the au Silco is in pain everyday because he lacks shimmer as a medical resource? There are only two other people who have maintained permanent body augmentations as the result of shimmer, and one of them doesn't count because he was messing with other shit so it's difficult to determine whether it was actually shimmer's fault or not.
Jinx receives extensive shimmer treatments after she blows up a bomb way too close to herself. She was on the brink of death and shimmer was the only way to save her. This is dissimilar to Silco's situation, because even though he suffered a massive injury, he still had the ability to walk and commit other functions. Jinx was literally unconscious and about to die. We don't know how much shimmer was used on her, but then again we don't know how much shimmer was used on Silco back in the day, if it was ever used on him at all. Additionally, we know that whatever amount it was, it was a SHIT TON. We literally see the injections and they are brutal.
Her case with shimmer is truly a phenomenon because not only is she the first person to ever receive permanent benefits of shimmer that are positive (increased speed) without the need of consuming more shimmer, but her irises also permanently change from blue to pink.
Tumblr media
Now this is interesting because remember, we saw Deckard's sclera's temporary change while his irises stayed the same. We saw Vander's own irises and scleras be unaffected by shimmer when he took the same amount of Shimmer Deckard did but then as he was dying we saw his irises become pink. We say Vi and Viktor's and Sevika's irises flash purple after being injected with Shimmer but only for a moment, nothing really long term. Not even the people who were addicted to shimmer are were using it constantly over the course of several years, like Huck, received physical changes to the eyes. Jinx's irises become pink forever, she gets new speed ability, and it seems that shimmer is just a fluid her body is producing now because she is now crying tears of shimmer.
So by this alone it seems that shimmer just...affects everyone a different way? But then we have to remember that there are potentially different versions of shimmer. The shimmer we see at the start of the show might not be the same shimmer that we are at the end of the show. Especially since in act one shimmer is framed as a prototype and in act two it's framed as a popular drug sold to the masses. ESPECIALLY since we know shimmer is Singed's invention, and he seems to have been tinkering with it over the years. Shimmer's most noticeable side effects are massive muscle growth at an accelerated rate, joint disfiguration, and massive height growth at an accelerated rate. Yet Viktor and Jinx, two people that received shimmer from Singed, don't receive these side effects. This could be implying that Singed has his own version of shimmer that isn't the shimmer being produced on a wide scale by Silco.
TDLR The nature of Silco's eye will always be a mystery because shimmer is just too inconsistent. The various ways it affects others and the possibility of multiple variations of the drug existing make it too hard to pinpoint if shimmer is the reason why Silco's eye is like that. I honestly don't understand why his eye is different in the AU and what they were trying to imply.

I want to use the Emperor on his golden throne to fry an egg. I’ll be butchered by the Custodes within seconds but it’ll be worth. Emperor fried egg. :)
If the egg ain’t cooked to perfection then I’m using my final breath to Yeet a second egg at his divine corpse/body/being.
So I remember getting this ask and being very confused... but I put this on the backburner for when I would get around to writing yandere custodes and the necromundan scum, that one of them decided to bring home, named smoothie.
@sculptorofcrimson this is your fault/this is the funny one (again my knowledge of the golden boys is very limited/I struggle to write them)
And you lot get to benefit from it @bispecsual @egrets-not-regrets @moodymisty @bleedingichorhearts @liar-anubiass-blog @thevoidscreams @barn-anon
thank you to @squishyowl for the dividers
Tumblr media
Smoothie did not like it here... the clean empty inner hallways left nothing for her to scavenge... no place to get food or drinkable water for miles. It was two days before her golden shadow found her dehydrated as she slipped away from him when he had a chance. Adonis only collected her so soon as they were about to release a small swarm of hormagaunts into the imperial palace for practice and Adonis did not like how easily she could slip from his grasp.
Like recently... Adonis felt his fingers clench and unclench as Nicodemus had jested even at how he must have picked up a mindwiped assassin with how easily she could vanish from his grip. But there was something about her that satiated the itch behind his eyes... it sated the desire to feel a crumb of affection back.
Smoothie crawled through the vents moving on padded knees and wearing thicker gloves as she looks around unable to make marks or else they'll figure out where she's going. Everything seemed to narc on her if she tried to make herself comfortable add her own touch to this gawken gawdy golden glitter glamhouse! She looks around as her body starts to tingle and she is certain that she's getting closer to the radiation.
It makes her body tingle... her nose bleed and she needs to get a bit closer to the source till she feels her teeth itch and then she's in the right spot to cook the eggs she stole from the kitchen. Not like she was gonna live very long anyway and if the glamshow that is Donnie and his brothers just casually relaxing with an open source of radiation then she could die faster making something she loved to eat.
"Adonis." One of the Companions said into the coms with a monotone drone that to Adonis belied a hint of amusement.
"Yes?" He replied going over the mental checklist of places to look for her and she rarely went to the same place twice in succession.
"She's in the vents again."
"Of course she is. Thank you Amadeus." He replied slightly between his teeth. If a companion was telling him where she was... he moved quickly.
She saw her 'lover boy' look at her with the most unamused look in his eyes as she just gave a shit eating grin offering him a radaition cooked egg, "Can I offer you an egg my lord?" She snarked at him as one of her eyes was bloodshot and her nose bleeding from even being this close to the golden throne unprotected.
"If I eat it will you come back willingly?" Adonis asked knowing he could just grab her but he hardly delt with such willful... creatures? She was certainly human... just very different from any other... paramour would be a word but so would obsession fit as equally for what this... itches would be.
"I dunno Donnie... I worked so hard in cooking these." Smoothie says peeling the shell away as she took a bite leaving a smear of the neon green lipstick she wore on the white of the egg.
"Smoothie." His augmented voice shakes the air as he does his best not to order her, because that is not what lovers did. But what the supposed ideal versus reality was also another thing to take into account.vHe watches her frown as blood trickles from her nose. She was so much more willful than any of his other paramours obsessions that it confounded him but also greatly excited him.
He is certain that his beloved Lord would have teased him... But then again he and the others would not feel that itching need so often. The pout on her green lips as she crawled closer to him before just putting one to his lips. He ate it, it was simple as he expected it to be.
"Fine we can go. At least before more of my teeth fall out." She says trying to crawl past only for Adonis to hold her to his chest. He moved quicker than she could out of the vents.
She whined as he took her to a rather unused medical area. As it was time to start some treatments to keep at bay the... Side effects of her lifestyle. Adonis had told her that she would be surprised at how much longer she would live around him. He wasn't going to let her fall apart so soon.

The Rise of 5G and Its Impact on Mobile App Development
Tumblr media
5G isn’t just about faster internet — it’s opening up a whole new era for Mobile App Development. With dramatically higher speeds, ultra-low latency, and the ability to connect millions of devices seamlessly, 5G is transforming how developers think about building apps. From richer experiences to smarter services, let's explore how 5G is already reshaping the mobile app landscape in 2025 and beyond.
1. Lightning-Fast Data Transfer
One of the biggest promises of 5G is incredibly fast data transfer — we're talking about speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G. For mobile apps, this means that large files, high-resolution images, and HD or even 4K video content can be downloaded or streamed instantly. Apps that once needed to compress their data heavily or restrict features due to bandwidth limits can now offer fuller, richer experiences without worrying about lag.
2. Seamless Real-Time Experiences
5G dramatically reduces latency, meaning the time between a user action and the app’s response is almost instant. This will revolutionize apps that rely on real-time communication, such as video conferencing, live-streaming platforms, and online gaming. Developers can create much more responsive apps, allowing users to interact with data, people, and services with zero noticeable delay.
3. The Growth of AR and VR Mobile Applications
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) apps have been growing, but 5G takes them to another level. Because of the high bandwidth and low latency, developers can now build more complex, interactive, and immersive AR/VR experiences without requiring bulky hardware. Imagine trying on clothes virtually in real-time or exploring a vacation destination through your phone — 5G is making this possible within Mobile App Development.
4. Smarter IoT-Connected Apps
The Internet of Things (IoT) will thrive even more in a 5G environment. Smart home apps, connected car apps, fitness trackers, and other IoT applications will be able to sync and update faster and more reliably. Developers can now integrate complex IoT ecosystems into mobile apps with minimal worries about network congestion or instability.
5. Enhanced Mobile Cloud Computing
Thanks to 5G, mobile cloud computing becomes much more viable. Instead of relying solely on local device storage and processing, apps can now store large amounts of data and execute processes directly in the cloud without latency issues. This allows users with even mid-range smartphones to experience high-performance features without the need for powerful hardware.
6. Revolutionizing Mobile Commerce
E-commerce apps are set to benefit greatly from 5G. Instant-loading product pages, real-time customer support, virtual product previews through AR, and lightning-fast payment gateways will enhance user experience dramatically. This could lead to higher conversion rates, reduced cart abandonment, and greater user loyalty in shopping apps.
7. Opportunities for New App Categories
With the technical limitations of mobile networks reduced, a whole new range of apps becomes possible. Real-time remote surgeries, autonomous vehicles controlled via mobile apps, and highly advanced telemedicine solutions are just a few examples. The doors are open for mobile developers to innovate and create applications that were previously impossible.
8. Better Security Requirements
With 5G’s mass connectivity also comes a bigger responsibility for security. As mobile apps become more connected and complex, developers must prioritize data protection, encryption, and secure authentication methods. Building security deeply into Mobile App Development workflows will be critical to maintain user trust.
9. More Demanding User Expectations
As 5G rolls out globally, users will expect every app to be faster, smoother, and more capable. Apps that fail to leverage the benefits of 5G may seem outdated or sluggish. This shift will push developers to continually optimize their apps to take advantage of higher speeds and smarter networking capabilities.
10. Preparing for the 5G Future
Whether you’re building entertainment apps, business solutions, healthcare tools, or gaming platforms, now is the time to adapt to 5G. Developers must start thinking about how faster speeds, greater device connections, and cloud capabilities can improve their mobile applications. Partnering with experts in Mobile App Development who understand the full potential of 5G will be key to staying ahead in a rapidly evolving digital world.

What Are the Common Myths About Speech Therapy — and What’s the Truth?
Speech therapy is often misunderstood, with many people holding outdated or incorrect beliefs about who needs it, what it involves, and how effective it really is. These myths can prevent individuals from seeking help, or delay crucial intervention for themselves or loved ones. In this article, we’ll tackle some of the most common misconceptions about speech therapy and provide the facts to help clarify what this important service really offers.
Myth: Speech Therapy is Only for Children
Tumblr media
Truth: Speech Therapy Benefits All Ages
In reality, speech therapy supports people across the entire lifespan — from infants with feeding difficulties to seniors recovering from strokes. Therapists tailor their approaches depending on the age, condition, and goals of each individual. Whether it’s helping a toddler form their first words or guiding an adult through voice therapy, speech-language pathologists (SLPs) are equipped to work with all ages.
Common Adult Speech Therapy Needs
Adults may seek speech therapy for a variety of reasons:
Stroke recovery (e.g., regaining language skills after aphasia)
Traumatic brain injuries
Voice disorders affecting quality, pitch, or strength
Progressive conditions like Parkinson’s disease, ALS, or dementia
Speech therapy for adults is not only common but essential for regaining independence and improving quality of life.
Myth: Speech Therapy is Just About ‘Fixing’ Stuttering
Another misconception is that speech therapy only addresses stuttering. While stuttering is an important area of focus, it’s far from the only one.
Truth: Speech Therapy Addresses a Wide Variety of Disorders
SLPs handle a broad spectrum of communication issues including:
Articulation and phonological disorders
Language delays or disorders
Social communication (pragmatic) challenges
Voice and resonance disorders
Swallowing and feeding difficulties (dysphagia)
Examples of Speech Therapy Specializations
Speech therapy includes diverse specialties, such as:
Aphasia rehabilitation for individuals who’ve lost language abilities due to brain injury
Accent modification to enhance communication confidence in multilingual speakers
AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) support for non-verbal individuals using devices or systems to communicate
Myth: Speech Therapy Results are Immediate
Some expect a “quick fix” from therapy and may get discouraged if progress seems slow.
Truth: Speech Therapy is a Gradual Process
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It requires time, consistent practice, and patience. Progress depends on factors like the severity of the issue, the individual’s motivation, and how often therapy occurs. Like physical fitness, communication improvement happens over time — not overnight.
Myth: Speech Therapy is Only for People with Speech Disabilities
People often think you must have a diagnosed speech disorder to benefit from therapy. This is simply not the case.
Truth: Speech Therapy Supports a Wide Range of Communication Needs
Even individuals without speech “disabilities” can benefit from therapy. Examples include:
Accent reduction for clearer communication in professional settings
Public speaking coaching
Social communication training for people with ADHD or autism
Early intervention for babies showing potential developmental delays
Myth: Speech Therapy is Expensive and Not Worth It
Cost can be a deterrent, with many assuming therapy is too expensive or not covered by insurance.
Truth: Speech Therapy is a Valuable Investment
While private sessions can be costly, many options are affordable or even free:
Insurance coverage may reduce costs for medically necessary treatment
School-based services provide free therapy for eligible students
Community clinics and telehealth options offer budget-friendly alternatives
Moreover, the long-term benefits — improved communication, confidence, academic and career success — far outweigh the costs.
Conclusion
Speech therapy is a powerful, versatile service that goes far beyond the common stereotypes. It’s not just for kids, it’s not only about stuttering, and it’s not a luxury — it’s a lifeline for millions. Understanding the truth behind these myths can help more people get the support they need. Whether you’re a parent, a professional, or someone recovering from a medical condition, speech therapy might be the key to unlocking better communication and a better quality of life.

@oveliagirlhaditright I'm putting my Missing Link thoughts in another post because it would be too long, and honestly I have SO MANY thoughts about why the basic premise of KHML was a bad idea (completely separate from my own distaste for the "Ephemer is Xehanort's ancestor" stuff that might be in it)
Because you're right to mention Pokemon Go and it really, REALLY feels to me like it's just trying to ride the hype from the mobile ARG boom that started with Pokemon Go a whole eight years ago. Because KHML as a concept doesn't even seem to be utilizing any of the unique features of an ARG that make them appealing
There's two real franchise-based mobile ARGs that I ever remember hearing about: Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite*. These two projects do make sense to me, as opposed to KHML because of the way that both franchises make use of the central concept of the augmented reality feature. They're additions to reality, which both series already played around with. HP takes place in our reality, but with a "what if magic was real and just hidden" premise, so it's insanely easy to make an ARG that's just "yeah, you're one of the people in on the secret magical society that always existed in the real world." Pokemon takes place in an alternate version of our world; every location in Pokemon is based on a real-world location. So that's also a natural progression for it, and it's easy to pretend that the "reality" you see in the ARG is just the Pokemon world. Other than location names and the presence of Pokemon, the Pokemon world is practically identical to reality
That is literally the central concept of an ARG. To make the game part of reality. And that just doesn't work with KH, a game about flying through space to reach Disney worlds. Sure, some of us might have wanted to pretend to be Keyblade wielders as kids, but did we want to be wielders in our small backyards? Not even imagining that they were another location, but the yards as they were? No! We wanted to be in the Disney worlds! Or Traverse Town! The central facet of ARG gameplay doesn't mesh with the functionality of a story-based canonical title. And so what do they do to force it to work? Complicate the lore with the Astral Planes, which completely take the "reality" out of Augmented Reality aside from... a map? Like, it might have worked with Quadratum depending on how much of "our reality" that ends up being, but that's not at all what they're doing
Additionally, ARGs are not conducive to story-heavy games! You're supposed to play them while walking around town, maybe stopping for a few minutes to take a break. Or you play them on work/school breaks. You need to be able to pick them up, play a bit for 10 minutes, and put them down. The typical gameplay cycle for most ARG players does not include 20 minutes just to watch cutscenes to get the Exclusive Lore before being able to do anything, and the people who like KH for the story aren't going to want to wait all the time for their mobile game energy to recharge before they can get their cutscenes (a thing that even KHUx did away with for story chapters after some time!)
The entire decision to make KHML an ARG, to me, feels like corporate checking off a box of "style of game that got popular in recent memory" and trying to copy it rather than thinking of the gameplay as a medium in and of itself to tell a story. Nothing about the ARG concept works with what KH is at its core, and I honestly feel like they unintentionally admitted that when it was announced that you'd be able to play it without leaving home. What is the point of making it an ARG at all if you're going to remove literally the only benefit that it has as a medium, as opposed to something that could benefit the story you're trying to tell? We are a long way from the days of TWEWY making revolutionary use of the DS technology to have its gameplay tell a significant part of its story
In an ideal world, I think that KHML should have been an MMO like we thought KHx was going to be back when it was announced. They wouldn't have to mess with the lore to make it work, other players running around would help to "populate" Scala ad Caelum in a natural way, people could form "families" with their friends to further the bloodlines narrative, and MMOs can function on the drip-fed narrative style that they wanted. It doesn't even have to be a big-budget MMO like FF14, because I actually do like KH3's artstyle and KHML's simpler usage of it (it manages to be distinctive and colorful, working in hallmarks of Nomura's hand-drawn style while still being more detailed than the PS2-era). It could just be... basically what it is now, but they add in new Disney worlds every couple of months to keep the story going
And now here we are, with a game that was supposed to be out by the end of 2023 still missing (lol) and only having had two betas by the near-midpoint of 2024 because they're having developmental issues that I would personally guess have to do with the game's self-defeating nature. I find it very frustrating
*Adding in, Wizards Unite literally ran for less than three years (June 2019 - Jan 2022) before shutting down so even being tied to a big-name franchise couldn't save it. I have a strong hunch that the Covid-19 lockdowns played a huge part in killing the ARG boom so it's doubly insane to me why Square Enix thought trying to bring it back was a good idea
