Announcing a new Jeeves and Wooster Email Project - My Pal Bertie
Remember the good old days, when we were waiting for letters from our friend Jonathan (via Dracula Daily)? Prepare to experience the thrill again…
From 1st March onwards this substack will send regular updates from P.G Wodehouse’s novel, The Inimitable Jeeves.
Bertie Wooster, the hero and narrator, writes in a friendly first person style that will soon feel like missives from an old and chatty friend.

fem! jeeves and wooster sketches!
my perhaps lonely take on a fem! jeeves and wooster is that bertie’s name would still be bertram. and i have my reasons!
-she’s a weirdo it makes sense to me that bertie has a non-traditional name
-it would give jeeves heartfailure. as a staunch supporter of traditionalism and a touch of internalised misogyny, bertie having a masculine name would upset her just as much as bertie’s masculine clothing and such, and it would be such an interesting development to see jeeves finally unlearn something and accept that perhaps a lady having a non-traditional name isn’t the end of the world
-the wooster mater and pater took bertie’s middle name from a race horse so. i don’t think they care too much about their child’s name
-the concept of aunt agatha finding out her first born niece is named Bertram really tickles me. i bet she turned into stone and had to be chiselled back out
-fun fact! my grandmother is named after her father. she goes by her middle name but all legal documents contain her masculine first name. it shocks a lot of people when they call out the name and a little old lady stands up and i think that’s an energy bertie would savour
-i just think it’s cool! bertie is quite non-traditional in a lot of aspects (class, marriage, letting his valet run his life etc) so a fem! bertie having a masculine name just makes me happy
it’s easy because reginald transfers simply to regina which captures jeeves’s energy in the same way. royal and formal and inimitable.
anyways. this will continue to be my headcanon forever. bertram wilberforce wooster is too funny of a name not to transfer across universes. long live the silly wee english lesbians!

"Average gentleman gets into an engagement once every year" actually just a statistical error. Average man is engaged once in his lifetime. Bertram Wilberforce Wooster-

I absolutely adore the concept of ginger Bertie because not only does that add another thing to his list of struggles (such as being british and having the name Bertram Wilberforce Wooster) but it also makes that one line where Jeeves is like "you can't trust gingers, sir" so much funnier.
Like ok just do him dirty like that jesus 😭

Jeeves and Wooster for the movie/tv show asks!
Ooh, thank you, kind anon! although I do have an inkling as to who this is ;o)
Favourite female character: it’s hard, because all the characters are terrible at one point or the other, but I’ll go with Aunt Dahlia. Her heart’s in the right place and I love how loud and unapologetic she is.
Favourite male character: Bertram Wilberforce Wooster my beloved 💜 He’s my blorbo and the sweetest bean and I wish there was one other person apart from Jeeves who would actually have his best interests at heart and not use him because he’s 1) convenient and 2) too damn polite to ever say “no”.
Worst female character: Aunt Agatha, who would scare off vampires and werewolves and give the worst villains pause. She’s entertaining but BOY do I want to fight her, and not just on Bertie’s behalf.
Worst male character: Lord Spodecup - I mean, Roderick Spode, 7th Earl of Sidcup, Oswald Mosley wannabe and all around evil twonk.
OTP: Reginald Jeeves and Bertie Wooster 💜
BROTP: also Reginald Jeeves and Bertie Wooster! I love those two together whether they’re lovers or platonic life partners. (Bertie Wooster absolutely reads as ace and possibly aro-ace, too.)
NOTP: probably Bertie/Angela, since kissing cousins has pretty much no appeal for me and I love them when they’re buds.

Hi my name is Bertram Wilberforce Wooster and I live in a flat in London with my man Jeeves who is a valet NOT a butler (A/N: if u don’t know the difference get da hell out of here!). I’m not related to Jeeves but I wish I was because he’s a major fucking hottie. I’m British but my teeth are straight and white. I’m also a chap about town, and I go to a club called the Drones where I play dinner roll cricket (I’m a fielder). I’m a wastrel (in case you couldn’t tell) and I wear mostly outfits my valet doesn’t like. For example today I was wearing my grey double-breasted suit and a green patterned tie, a boutonniere and a straw hat. I was walking outside the Drones. My Aunt Agatha was not in the metrop. which I was very happy about. Bingo Little and Barmy Fotheringay-Phipps stared at me. I said ‘what ho what ho what ho’ at them.
