How Maybe Happy Ending Became the Surprise Hit of the Broadway Season

DO ANDROIDS DREAM? The leads of Broadway's Maybe Happy Ending: Darren Criss, in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, and Helen J Shen in Michael Kors Collection. Swarovski ring. Hair, Edward Lampley; makeup, Kuma. Photographed by Norman Jean Roy. Fashion Editor: Edward Bowleg III. Vogue, March 2025.
---------- Bringing the androids to life, as it were, are stage veteran Darren Criss and Broadway newcomer Helen J Shen. Backstage in his dressing room before curtain, Criss, 37, is bursting with chattiness, hazel eyes flashing and ring-laden fingers aflutter. He credits much of Maybe Happy Ending’s success to its extensive Korean incubation, comparing it to a nearly decade-long out-of-town tryout. “The level of nuance we focused on from the beginning is stuff that you don’t typically get until months in the weeds,” he says. “The trial and error has been happening long before us,” says Shen, who’s 24 but could easily pass for far younger, sitting serenely in a Winnie-the-Pooh sweatshirt. A classically trained pianist who competed internationally before studying theater performance at the University of Michigan (where Criss is also an alum), Shen has had a busy 2024, starring off-Broadway in The Lonely Few and Teeth. Meanwhile Criss is best known for the five seasons he spent as the endearingly charming, openly gay Blaine Anderson on Fox’s Glee. For this performance as an android with creakier movements than Shen’s, he drew on something he’d never put to use professionally: his college semester spent studying commedia dell’arte in Italy. “Stereotypical modern acting is about what you don’t see, and what I’m doing here is what you do see,” Criss says. His robot had been programmed to display unsubtle emotions: happy face, sad face, surprised face. These expressions and Criss’s faintly wooden physicality, inspired by the harlequin figure, “immediately make people more willing to connect to the show’s nonrealness,” he says. In rehearsals, he kept top of mind a note from Arden: “Just because it doesn’t feel real doesn’t make it not true.”

GROUP INTELLIGENCE Shen and Criss are joined in the cast by Dez Duron (center left) and Marcus Choi (center right). Costume design by Clint Ramos. Hair and wig design, Craig Franklin Miller; makeup, Suki Tsujimoto.
Underscoring that feeling of unreality is the shape-shifting set, involving a rotating turntable, proscenium LED tiles, and hologram-like projections. “The backstage mechanics are so unbelievably intricate,” Arden says. “My hope is that it’s working so well the audience doesn’t even notice.” The set was inspired by how we consume media on our phones; Arden estimates that the show spends more time in a vertical orientation than horizontal. Likewise, switching between sliding rooms on tracks emulates the effect of swiping on a personal device, and simple theatrical techniques like irising, created with black panels and neon, mimic how we pinch and zoom. Another influence was manga, which can tell big stories briskly, gracefully pushing readers from one image to another. The emphasis was on containing and focusing the audience’s point of view, Arden explains. “I wanted to take the audience on an adventure, leaving more to their imagination rather than trying to show everything.” Within those silently whizzing frames is a comforting, retro future-scape that the director compares to 2001: A Space Odyssey. “There’s this mix of cold futurism with warm sentimentality that’s also present in the score,” Arden says of the set. “You’re watching a classic Burt Bacharach musical, even though we’re driving a flying car.” The team has been floored by the rabid army of fans. Dubbed Fireflies, after a magical moment in the show, they range from repeat viewers dressing up as their favorite characters to those creating art inspired by HwaBoon, the emotional-support potted plant that many find the production’s low-key true star. (Arden calls her “a fabulous silent diva” who appeals to wallflowers in the audience.) A significant portion of those waiting by the stage door to meet the cast are Asian American, and while nearly all the actors in this production are also of Asian American descent, Shen shies from labeling the show narrowly. “It’s important to mark accomplishments, but whenever we put that pressure on to be a mouthpiece for any group of people that is multifaceted and contradictory and complicated, it’s going to fail.” Although actors of various races and ethnicities have previously portrayed the robots, almost every production has been set in Seoul. Yet Criss maintains “the show is as distinctly Korean as Romeo and Juliet is distinctly Italian...It’s where we set our scene, and some aspects of the show might spring from the culture.” (South Korea has the world’s highest density of robot workers.) “But it’s a story with universal themes: We all live, we all end, we all, hopefully, at some point, love or are loved.” The offbeat premise and ingenious staging prove that no algorithm can yet prescribe a hit Broadway musical. “As we enter into this world of AI, theater is one of the last completely human-made, -operated, -performed, and -received art forms,” Arden notes. “And that’s why we go to the theater—to learn something new about what it is to be alive.” How delightful that it’s possible in a musical about robots.

I'd like to share some information to people who enjoy emulating GBA games, especially on android. So here's the thing, I've been itchy to do online linking/multiplayer on GBA emulation, especially Pokemon games, and already spend quite some time to find both ways and people who are interested in it. Then I found an old thread in pokecommunity website saying this:
"Long story short, I have zero friends in real life, and I haven't been able to find a community for users of the GBA Emulator "MyBoy" to gather and link up. So, I figured I'd see if anyone here was interested. The purpose of this thread is to gather anyone interested in linking up on MyBoy and Trading or Battling on Gen 3. Post in here to find some partners willing to link up and have some fun :3."
Well that pretty much describes my intention almost perfectly. But that thread was years ago and already locked for comments. As far as I know, MyBoy has never be able to link you online with other people far away, at least not with the emulator alone. Simply put it can't. But there are other emulators, specifically on Android, that have their own/built-in online multiplayer for GBA games.
The main emulator I used to do online multiplayer is called Multigba S. I'm sure some or even many people here already heard about this emulator. Despite still not yet giving a really good experience in online multiplayer, I can say it's still the best way to do online multiplayer on GBA.
To simplify the reading, here's the main features of Multigba S that you need to know:
- Free/ No paywall features
- Offline/ Singleplayer mode
- LAN mode (for connecting 2 nearby devices to play multiplayer)
- Netplay/ Online Multiplayer mode (for connecting 2 devices via internet to play multiplayer, world wide, cross countries)
- Easy Netplay setup (just need to login via google, no IP address sharing)
- Build with mGBA core, the best and most compatible GBA emulator
- Player 2/guest doesn't need to have the ROM to join the host server
- Can connect 2 different games (Like Pokemon FireRed with Emerald)
- Build-in text chat when playing multiplayer
- Supports both hardware controllers and virtual/on-screen/touch based controller
- Capable to link the emulator from android to windows (with BlueStack)

The image you see is the emulator's Public Server where people find each other and available servers online. I found most Multigba S users are Spanish(?) that play Pokemon Quetzal and barely see other people that speak English that play other GBA games. From what I read and experienced, the online multiplayer requires a pretty stable connection and high-end/flagship phone specifications from player 1/host side to get a smooth/stable gameplay. You can do the online multiplayer on low-end/budget phone, it works, but the disadvantage will be felt by player 2/guest as they'll likely get lags. But alas I can finally fulfill my Pokedex and play games like Zelda 4 Swords with foreigners. I have some more interesting GBA games with multiplayer mode that I can host, both vanilla GBA games and Pokemon romhacks like Unbound and some Emerald hacks.
There is also a Discord server to gather GBA players to find each other to play multiplayer online together, also for technical supports like save file transfer, multiplayer set up and such.

i found it through here (it's the new site of CDromance)
you download both disc 1 and disc 2 of the version you wanna read (by version i mean JP or ENG) then you open an emulator of your choice; i currently use RetroArch on android, download all three of sega saturn emulators, and load the first disc on whichever of emulator works best for you! (i use yabause emulator)
beware that the first part of the game where you choose your name is in japanese only, but right after you pick a name, everything else will be in english

do you have any otome/dating sim recs? aside from diamond heart of course ^_^
for otome dating sims (like stat raisers) Tokimeki memorial girl's side has fan translations for the DS versions of the games and the PSP version of GS3 (which is what I play, it's an improved version with more content <3) you can play all of those on a mobile device with an emulater as well, PPSSPP the psp emulator runs on android n_n
for other games that have official eng releases for dating sims i sent my friend a lot of them before so I'm copying my list from there lol:
Also I recommend checking out the English Otome Games account that is still very actively documenting and sharing all these games
PAID SIM GAMES:
Backstage Pass THE GOAT fr fr there IS one female LI in this btw!
Dandelion Wishes Brought to You, from the same people who made Mystic Messenger, this was an ealier game i liked it!
Lucky Rabbit Reflex, okay i love this one but a lot of ppl are turned off by the art but it has a great cast and its very funny, but the setting is europe so watch out! also fair warning it IS older it was released n 2011! so it 1. has really low resolution and 2. tacky tasteless dialogue... i remember the r slur is used in it u.u.
MAGICAL DIARY THE GOAT dude, it takes place in a magic school so if you like witch magical girls this one is for you, There's also a boy MC version that came outlater, Wolf Hall. also has female LI options
Paid visual novel otomes!
These ones are regular VNs like MWDH but unlike MWDH shouldnt have much emphasis on stat raising at all.
Amnesia Memories: This was really fun for me I liked the mystery and Kent is my love of my life lol
Band Camp Boyfriend: okay i havent finished this one but it looks really fun and cute so there
Chronotopia Second Skin: this one's based on a variation of Cinderella and has a black cast and female LI options!
Date Warp: man i fucking loved this one it had a fun mystery
Heart Fragment: one i've been keeping an eye on, it's also technically "in progress" but it's doing an episodic DLC model with very affordable DLC tis also has female LI options
With Eyes of Ice: this one is a linear VN with only one LI, and it's meant to be pretty depressing haha, but ebi-hime markets it as an otome/adjacent game and I really like her prose and I loved what I read so far
FREE SIM GAMES!
RE: Alistair is super old but a goodie and a classic for indie otome fans i think n_n Backstage Pass is a spiritual successor to this!
Christmas and Valentines Otome, I didn;t realize they had stats. the creator made halloween otome first and it didn't have that from what i remember, all three are pretty great and theyre all free
Free VN otome:
Cinderella Phenomenon, another classic this one is very popular for good reason its nicely made, a good length story, and best of all? Free babey.
Bell Maidens Bloom: this one is in progress but it's releasing at a time so I'm not rlly considering it a demo ? the selling point is a soft black girl MC lol!
XOXO Droplets: it's free to play with a paid extended version. You play as a girl who's a jerk who doesnt GAF and is pursuing a bunch of jerks just cuz they're hot lmao it's very funny xD
Our Life is by the same people as the above but what if instead of being an asshole rizzing up jerks you're a nice person who's chill and getting to know a shy autistic boy over the course of your life. only one LI
Tailor Tales! This one isn't a pure VN because it has a fashion boutique mechanic? I didn't realize it was totally free but it only has paid DLC for the sexy content xD... you run a boutique and get to rizz up hot guys, it's really intricately done and has a LOT of content
Demos to watch out for
These ones are demos rn and not full games in any capacity, but they look epic and I want ppl to keep an eye out
Edge of Elsewhere: from the same person as lucky rabbit reflex, i really liked the demo so far and it doesn't have the same issues of dated writing (but it still has the issue of being in europe, sad!)
Snowkissed Romance: it's based on 90s anime and is a stat sim game! i really liked what I saw and the art's really cute,
Mirage Noir: a mystery otome! it looks really fun and the art is great. I watched my friend play this one and I liked what i saw
MY DEAR LOVE; this one is SOOOOO cute, another shojo inspired one, this one more manga than 90s anime and it's also another stat raiser. it only has one li I think? but it looks really cute i loved the demo
Thread of You: I recommended my friend to play this one because Liam's VA was in it and she loves his performance lol. It's pretty fun so far though but sadly the character Phil voices doesnt have as much screentime XD;;

hiiii my darling ^_^ just out of curiosity….if i WERE to start playing ace attorney. what game should i start with and roughly how much time would i need to invest in playing it ? :)
HI JULES i would suggest you start playing with phoenix wright: ace attorney because that's the first game in the series and also (IMO) one of the best ones so if you enjoy playing through it you'll probably like the rest too ^_^ plus it sets up the, you know, entire rest of (minimally) the trilogy.
i don't think i'm very good for giving a time estimate though 😓 i think maybe 2-3 hours per case? i googled it and most places say something like 60 hours which is definitely not true lol i think it's more something like ~15 especially if you're a fast reader.
if you have a 3ds you can get the games off of hshop, and if you have an android phone you can use @prosecutors-gambit's collection of apks linked here (hi stefan). if you want to play on your laptop you can just download the roms also off of hshop i believe and play them on the citra emulator (this is what i did when i had a chromebook, too!). you're kind of screwed if you only have an apple phone (piracy) games-wise but you could cheat and watch the anime which covers the original trilogy (pw:aa, justice for all, and trials & tribulations). @key-lime-soda compiled the (subbed) version of it on a google drive here, but the dubbed version isn't very hard to find.
(if you want to do things legally, you could buy the games off of steam, on your switch, there's app versions on the play store and app store, i think probably xbox one, or you could shill like 500 dollars for a game cartridge for the ds.)
there are a lot of games though so i'll list them out chronologically here. for your perusal:
the great ace attorney chronicles - takes place in victorian london and follows phoenix's ancestor, ryunosuke
phoenix wright: ace attorney - aa1
phoenix wright: ace attorney - justice for all - aa2
phoenix wright: ace attorney - trials and tribulations - aa3
miles edgeworth: ace attorney - investigations - aai1
ace attorney investigations 2 - prosecutor's gambit - aai2
apollo justice: ace attorney - aa4
phoenix wright: ace attorney - dual destinies - aa5
phoenix wright: ace attorney - spirit of justice - aa6
bold = "mainline" games
???. professor layton vs. phoenix wright - crossover game that kind of floats around outside of the timeline
if you want the official timeline, capcom put together this little webpage :-)

How to emulate every pre-Switch FE
Since the take is clearly useful for some people I'm going to make it a bit nicer (and ping it for future reference) :
FE1-2 : Mesen for the NES emulator FE1 EN fantranslation FE2 EN fantranslation It's the NES, your computer can emulate it trust me
FE3-4-5 SNEX9X for the SNES emulator FE3 EN fantranslation (note that it use the European names) Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga EN fantranslation (also know as BS Fire Emblem, and yes this game exist). You will also need a BS-X Bios that can be found here FE4 EN fantranslation, also knows as project Naga FE4 SP fantranslation FE5 fantranslation, also knows as Lil' Manster. There is also a spanish version SNES9x was first released in 20th century, your computer can run it
FE6-7-8 Mgba for the GBA emulator. This is also how you play the majority of FE romhack, with them being based on FE8 FE6 fantranslation Your computer can run mgba trust me again
FE9-10 Dolphin for the Gamecube/Wii emulator Dolphin is more demanding than the previous one who will run on just about anything (but still very reasonable), especially if you want to run the games on higher resolution. I recommend checking out the recommended specs and trying it out on your machine
FE11-12 Either DeSmuME or MelonDS for the DS emulator. MelonDS run better but require firmware files FE12 fantranslation
3DS games Citra was an accidental victim of Yuzu going down so your best bet is to grab it from one of it fork, like here. This is the most ressource intensive emulator listed here, but it does allow you to use mods very easily Another option is to simply hack your 3DS if you have one
For obvious reason I can't link the roms themself but they are easy to find, like on a certain subreddit that start with R.
I also insist that you don't need a "gaming" PC to emulate, most of the emulator of this post will run on toaster from the early 2010s. They are also very simple to use as if ! I see too many people that stop themself from using emulator for reason that does not really exist. And frankly Nintendo can get fucked if they think you should be forking 250€ for a used copy of RD where you can't even speedup the enemy phase.
Finally, I know they are emulators that run on android, but I'm not qualified at all to speak for them. Keep in mind that the option exists if it's more convenient for you.

ok, thinking about Automata for a minute (and some spoiler stuff).
There's something so tragic about 2B, that I'm pretty sure can be put in better words, but I'll try my best.
We know that she is very kind, caring and has a respect for life that doesn't fit her as an Executioner model; it's exactly that contrast that makes her such an interesting character and tragic, more than anything. But after all, she's still that, an Executioner model, she was programmed in such a way that would make her more powerful than any other YoRHa model, with unique battle skills that would take a lot of training to emulate, a force to be reckoned with; she was created as a weapon, something to be afraid of, something to keep androids on the line.
And so, she ends up feeling a lot, she experiences the ultimate human experience of emotions, she feels humanity's biggest goal and enemy: love and grief. "The weapon" falls in love and is forced to carry the grief, the loss, "the weapon" actually cares to help others in need, "the weapon" is amazed by flowers and "the weapon" sacrifices herself to save someone who she considers dear, she sacrifices her own freedom so someone else can live a life full of it.
Her designation is an absolute contradiction of who she really is and how ironic it is that the most brutal android holds a heart too big for her chains.
#i'm very normal about these characters#i guess there's a lot more to say#but i don't really have the words for everything#anyways i just really love 2b#nier 2b#nier#nier automata

Do you know what this is? Probably not. But if you follow me and enjoy retro gaming, you REALLY should know about it.

I see all of these new micro consoles, and retro re-imaginings of game consoles and I think to myself "Why?" WHY would you spend a decent chunk of your hard-earned money on some proprietary crap hardware that can only play games for that specific system?? Or even worse, pre-loaded titles and you can't download / add your own to the system!? Yet, people think it's great and that seems to be a very popular way to play their old favorites vs. emulation which requires a "certain degree of tech savvy" (and might be frowned upon from a legal perspective).
So, let me tell you about the Mad Catz M.O.J.O (and I don't think the acronym actually means anything). This came out around the same time as the nVidia Shield and the Ouya - seemingly a "me too" product from a company that is notorious for oddly shaped 3rd party game controllers that you would never personally use, instead reserved exclusively for your visiting friends and / or younger siblings. It's an Android micro console with a quad-core 1.8 GHz nVidia Tegra 4 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (expandable via SD card), running Android 4.2.2. Nothing amazing here from a hardware perspective - but here's the thing most people overlook - it's running STOCK Android - which means all the bloatware crap that is typically installed on your regular consumer devices, smartphones, etc. isn't consuming critical hardware resources - so you have most of the power available to run what you need. Additionally, you get a GREAT controller (which is surprising given my previous comment about the friend / sibling thing) that is a very familiar format for any retro-age system, but also has the ability to work as a mouse - so basically, the same layout as an Xbox 360 controller + 5 additional programmable buttons which come in very handy if you are emulating. It is super comfortable and well-built - my only negative feedback is that it's a bit on the "clicky" side - not the best for environments where you need to be quiet, otherwise very solid.
Alright now that we've covered the hardware - what can it run? Basically any system from N64 on down will run at full speed (even PSP titles). It can even run an older version of the Dreamcast emulator, Reicast, which actually performs quite well from an FPS standpoint, but the emulation is a bit glitchy. Obviously, Retroarch is the way to go for emulation of most older game systems, but I also run DOSbox and a few standalone emulators which seem to perform better vs. their RetroArch Core equivalents (list below). I won't get into all of the setup / emulation guide nonsense, you can find plenty of walkthroughs on YouTube and elsewhere - but I will tell you from experience - Android is WAY easier to setup for emulation vs. Windows or another OS. And since this is stock Android, there is very little in the way of restrictions to the file system, etc. to manage your setup.
I saved the best for last - and this is truly why you should really check out the M.O.J.O. even if you are remotely curious. Yes, it was discontinued years ago (2019, I think). It has not been getting updates - but even so, it continues to run great, and is extremely reliable and consistent for retro emulation. These sell on eBay, regularly for around $60 BRAND NEW with the controller included. You absolutely can't beat that for a fantastic emulator-ready setup that will play anything from the 90s without skipping a beat. And additional controllers are readily available, new, on eBay as well.
Here's a list of the systems / emulators I run on my setup:
Arcade / MAME4droid (0.139u1) 1.16.5 or FinalBurn Alpha / aFBA 0.2.97.35 (aFBA is better for Neo Geo and CPS2 titles bc it provides GPU-driven hardware acceleration vs. MAME which is CPU only)
NES / FCEUmm (Retroarch)
Game Boy / Emux GB (Retroarch)
SNES / SNES9X (Retroarch)
Game Boy Advance / mGBA (Retroarch)
Genesis / PicoDrive (Retroarch)
Sega CD / PicoDrive (Retroarch)
32X / PicoDrive (Retroarch)
TurboGrafx 16 / Mednafen-Beetle PCE (Retroarch)
Playstation / ePSXe 2.0.16
N64 / Mupen64 Plus AE 2.4.4
Dreamcast / Reicast r7 (newer versions won't run)
PSP / PPSSPP 1.15.4
MS-DOS / DOSBox Turbo + DOSBox Manager
I found an extremely user friendly Front End called Gamesome (image attached). Unfortunately it is no longer listed on Google Play, but you can find the APK posted on the internet to download and install. If you don't want to mess with that, another great, similar Front End that is available via Google Play is called DIG.

If you are someone who enjoys emulation and retro-gaming like me, the M.O.J.O. is a great system and investment that won't disappoint. If you decide to go this route and have questions, DM me and I'll try to help you if I can.
Cheers - Techturd

he should be
SARAH
unofficially “the face” of the V6 studio brand. she’s not thrilled about it
is a HUGE sweet ann fan, tries rly hard to emulate the early engloids out of respect

SHION
2000s alt girl
NO hipsters
NO preps
except for sakura, her best friend to everyone else’s surprise
ASAHI
you know phineas and ferb? he’s ferb
one of sakura’s moles that feed her gossip and drama
no one’s ever seen him enter a room, he’s just there when you look back
LUCAS
one of Allen’s most consistent collaborators, tends to bring in big numbers
oblivious frat guy type personality. well maybe not that bad
hangs out with Taku a lot and has no clue at all that Taku dislikes him
shows up at your house at midnight to ask if you wanna watch him crash his car into an abandoned building
MICHELLE
chill stoner type who purposefully sticks to smaller indie venues
also once after a show rly late at night she admitted to having killed someone before? and you can’t tell if she was joking??
TAKU
Michelle’s “cousin” whatever that means for androids
bc Lucas is best friends with Michelle, Taku is constantly having to interact with him. he does not like this
every single article of clothing he owns is thrifted and slightly too big

I just bought one of those "TikTok" Gaming Devices (but more bedside I'm a sucker for Gameboy Vertical Design)
They aren't terrible, it's running on Android w/RetroArch, you can mod-in Achievements and are good enough for most games to play on the go.
but I still think getting a MiSTer is better in the preservation aspect of emulation.
But it's no different than Steam Deck w/EmuDeck.
P.S. - I still can't get After Burner Climax to Work on it, UGH!!!
Yeah, the Anbernic things seem cool, I mostly wish there was an easy way to figure out which one is the best or what the real differences between them are. I know some are Android and there's also at least one Linux-based one. Every time I bring this up I get like three replies from people claiming "oh, model XYXYXY is the best" and it's almost always a different model, it's hilarious.
My actual objections to them being sold on Tiktok are...
every sixth video I get is someone who barely knows anything about video games or tech trying to sell them. One said "WE GOT THAT NEW GAME BOY." They're all just weird hucksters scam artists.
All the fuckers on tiktok selling them are packing in SD cards full of games. Fuck that shit, fuck paying for pre-loaded games. Shit like that just brings more heat to the hobbyist emulation authors who have nothing to do with that.

so like, there's a very small chance that the switch 2 doesn't get a price decrease, right? it's overpriced and while the nintendo diehards who'd buy anything with their logo on it are gonna get it no matter what, i feel like it's gonna be a lot like the 3DS where the sales are pretty decent at first because there's always gonna be Those People buying it because it's a nintendo product, and then that shit's gonna fall off a cliff dramatically. i think the price drop would most likely be somewhere in the 50-100 dollar range, and honestly 350 wouldn't be that bad y'know? i think best case scenario is 300, since obviously they wouldn't price it lower than the switch 1 and 300 in this day and age would honestly be a pretty slick price.
and like, the thing is that to my knowledge (and correct me if i'm wrong), console manufacturers are pretty much always making the consoles themselves at a loss and they make up for it with game sales. that's why emulation handhelds and handheld PCs either use cheap phone processors or they charge prices that are fucking exorbitant relative to historical dedicated handhelds. if you want a good comparison of both archetypes, look at the anbernic store and see most of their emulation handhelds that usually run either linux or android going for 50-150 dollars, meanwhile ayaneo's handheld PCs tend to range from 700-1500 bones.
the steam deck is able to fit in as a nice middle ground still above the original switch but below the switch 2 (at least, the base model is). i have no direct proof of this being their thought process, but i'd posit that this is possible because even if the base model steam deck isn't the most profitable thing on earth, they also get a cut of every game you buy on it since they fucking own steam, which pretty much rules the digital PC game market with the only real competition being either astroturfed bullshit (which is to say, the epic games store and all those pissant little developer specific stores), primarily focused on indie games (itch.io), and basically steam but without the DRM and a heavier focus on older games and preservation (gog), 2/3 of which are perfectly valid platforms but also just hold less of a market share due to having more niche focuses.
this got away from me but Grod do i hope that the switch 2 price goes down. i really, REALLY hope i'm right in thinking that most people aren't gonna go for this shit. and i also sincerely hope that there's enough of a backlash to the game cart bullshit that they just go back to using normal fucking cartridges that you can directly play off of, even with the price in mind that could very well be the most egregious thing of this whole launch. i guess we'll wait and see
