Robin doesn't think about the short sleeve button up she wears on the first day of Senior year other than that it's cute until Jamie is pulling her arm close to her face, and she realizes that if she didn't want to be the centre of attention for having a rather prominent Mark that Filled over summer, she should have worn long sleeves. Damn.
The iridescent colour it's written in shifts in the light, from purple to green to gold and has the shimmer of wet ink, glitter shifting within it impossibly. Marks are always striking, their colours more vivid and beautiful than anything manmade. Neoclassical and baroque artists came close to recreating them, but even masters' attempts always look off. Movies try, but it's still…wrong. Not quite as alive as a Mark should be.
So it's not unusual that Robin's mark carries some ethereal quality, but the placement up her right forearm and the uncanny shifting of the colours do make it…well. Noticeable.
Jamie nearly squeals at her. "Oh my god! You got a new one and Filled it over the summer? Lucky!"
"Ah. Thanks." She's not particularly fond of touch, but resists yanking her arm back. Newly Filled Marks are always cause for gossip, and her being cagey would just lead to rumours.
"So?? Who is it? How'd it happen?" Jamie leans in, wide eyed. Other kids that were milling around the band room have begun clustering.
"It's, ah. It's Steve?" Why did she make that a question? It is Steve's Mark.
"Steve? What Steve? How'd you meet? C'mon, Robin! Give us the story!"
Robin shifts, and pulls her arm away, finally. "We were coworkers at the mall, and I got it when I decided that working with him wasn't so bad, even if he is a dingus. It Filled when–during the fire."
"Oh shit." Someone says.
Jamie blinks. "It's song lyrics though." And yeah, it is. Bright and bold, in Steve's Best Cursive, is and you see me now tonight going from her wrist up towards her elbow in large cursive letters.
Robin giggles. "Yeah, uh. He was…cheering me up. Because, y'know, the fire. He got mine right after."
The band room is quiet, processing. It's not common for Marks to Fill at the same time, even when it's reciprocated. Then someone from the back of the cluster says "wait. Didn't you work with Steve Harrington this summer?"
Finally, Robin grins. "Oh yeah. We're at Family Video now, though." There's tittering. They probably don't believe her. "My Mark is on his left arm, and it says," she pauses. Sharing someone else's Mark isn't exactly polite but sharing a Mark that's yours on someone else isn't at all taboo. It's part of you, on another. So she shares "you sound like a Muppet. In the same colour ink."
The room explodes into questions and astoundment and speculation. By the time second period rolls around tomorrow, the whole school will know. Hell, there'll probably be some nosy customers at Family Video for Steve tonight. Ah, well. It wasn't a secret.
"So, you're dating him now?" Comes floating above the frantic gossiping.
Robin shakes her head. "No. No way. We're friends. It's a platonic bond." Not that Dustin–ignoring that he and Erica also have Filled Marks in the same iridescence on Steve and themselves– would let up about them being scientifically proven to be perfect for each other. Which they were. As…not dating. As friends. As best friends. As a singular blob person that is unfortunately split into two people currently. But Hawkins High Concert Band doesn't need to know that.
"Fucking stunning for a platonic Bond."
She shrugs. "Guess we're just special like that."

"Look, Choi, I need you to-"
"Need me? Sounds kinda erotic." The taller boy chuckles, and your face scowls, turning a heavy shade of red.
"Huh? You're gross! As if I would EVER do anything trashy with you!" You cross your arms, feeling impatient. Jimin should be here any minute from his last class across campus so you can both go home together. This isn't gonna work, and you don't have any more time for this. "You know what, never mind. I don't even know why I bothered to think of asking you. I should've asked Mark instead." You turn around, deciding to walk away from the situation. You'll take the L! You'll go to Seokjin's dumb brother's wedding by yourself like the loser you are while everyone else has dates.
"Hey, wait!" Yeonjun pulls your arm toward him, making you turn back around. "Alright. Fine, princess, I'm listening. What is it?" He looks at you, finally with sincerity in his eyes.
God, I guess if he actually wants to listen, then you'll say it. What could go wrong?
You tiptoe and lean in close to his ear, catching Yeonjun slightly off guard. "Okay. I need you to be my fake date to my friend's brother's wedding."
Yeonjun blinks repeated, processing the request. After realizing he was frozen, he immediately goes back to his usual expression and smirks. "Well, well, well. Looks like someone couldn't resist the charm of Choi Yeonjun after all."
You roll your eyes, "Hell no. Please, I'd rather dance with a cactus."
He raises an eyebrow, "You sure about that? Cacti can be quite prickly, you know."
You huff, "Just shut up and play along. I need you to act like a decent human being for one evening. You owe me anyways., remember?"
Yeonjun smirks again, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Decent human being? That's a stretch," he grins, clearly enjoying this. "But sure, why not? It's not every day someone gets to be in the presence of greatness."
You scoff, shaking your head, "Greatness? Please. Just don't embarrass me, okay?"
Yeonjun's grin widens, "No promises, sweetheart. But I'll do my best. After all, I owe you."
"Yeah, yeah. Just be ready to suffer through a night of pretending to like me," you retort with a wry smile.
"Oh, the sacrifices I make for you," he replies, sarcasm dripping from every word.
As you walk away, hoping to meet jimin halfway (where the hell is he?) you can't help but mutter under your breath, "This is gonna be a disaster."
Yeonjun's laughter follows you from a very short distance, "Oh, sweetheart, you have no idea."

My School President Ep 4 Stray Thoughts
This is now the comedy show anchoring Frigay now that My Tooth Your Love completed. Last week, Chinzilla needed to pass all of their exams to get permission to compete in Hot Wave, and so Best Boy Nominee Tiwson put Tinn and Gun in his brothers apartment for a week to study together. Tinn had many a fantasy, but many of us are convinced that one of them at least was from Gun's POV. By the end of the episode, it's clear the attraction is mutual, but we're not sure for how long it has been.
It's fun being genre aware sometimes. I predicted they'd be listening to their own music and would dunk on themselves. It's actually pretty clever of Gun to see themselves from the outside. I'm also a fan of the repeated confusion from Gun staring into the middle distance.
Hot boi alert.
Uh oh, the hot boi knows Tinn.
Tinn's continued failed attempts to flirt are endearing, but also a bit embarrassing. You know that boy is serious if he keeps taking all these Ls.
Of course Tinn picked Gun up. We will create a moment any way possible!
I love Tiwson. "Hot people like us always have competitors." The boy is self aware.
I hope Sound thinks he's in We Best Love and tries to pursue Tinn.
Nevermind. Sound as a pure rival is funny too.
Sound wasn't wrong about the band needing more focus in their rehearsals, but kicking out Gun seems a bit much. Of course the band members are loyal, but quitting seems like something Gun would do for the sake of the club.
Tiwson said, "Eyes on the prize."
Ah, using the audience to circumvent resistance is also clever of Sound.
Aun is playing this role to the hilt.
I feel like Gun just wanted to see Tinn dressed up. Tiwson must agree, because he just threw an assist by clearing the room.
Oh my. It might be time to revive my "they are literally always flirting" tag.
Gosh, this stairwell scene was lovely. These two are finally getting more comfortable with each other, and the chemistry is solid. Tinn is getting better at conveying how much he likes Gun as he is.
How did Gun not see his own band in the room? I love this boy. He's so ridiculous.
Interesting. Will Tinn encourage Gun to go back with his friends?
Of course he is! Tinn is a supporter!
Alright, who taught Fourth how to look at Gemini this way? That's the third or fifth time he's done that today.
All of these people in this room is going to be a fire hazard.
Suddenly emotional about generations of club members singing You've Got Ma Back together, and that being a major theme. Just like the name of the band, this is something the seniors pass on to their juniors.
Not the BBQ also being a ritual to take good and bad performances as they come. I'm already in my feelings. They even made sure to give Sound a good piece.
He's bringing the ritual pork to Tinn, but first, a Nivea ad. What in the Bad Buddy??
Oh ho! This is their second picture where Gun says, "Smile, Mr. School President."
THE PINKY TOUCH STILL BELONGS TO THE GAYS!!! We were right!

[text ID: There is a cliff at the edge of Point Blink where kids twist into the air and throw dust to the vortexing waves; they shoot past eroded caves filled with old bird nests that fly up like slots in a mausoleum. A lighthouse with a jammed bell leers over the expanse of heat lightning reflections. Metal gargles against stone in storm weather, warning us all of childish dares. I was a lighthouse: lived in by sailors, travelers, and strangers; pale stone tall and strong against a maelstrom of salt and rock. Moon shells speckled my base, crushed or buried. Clouds passed over the moon, and I opened my eye to cast sickly yellow light over the waves as they smoothed the footprints of my friends, and of Dad, and of me. Point Blink has stood for decades, but I will stand alone for many more, flickering against all the stars, waiting for those I love to return to harbor.]
Synopsis -
Ever since her best friend left Point Blink, Ray hasn’t felt the same. Now that Lonan is away at college, her friend group feels more distant than ever. Ray struggles to hold them together.
Photography is Ray’s passion. Memories with her friends have helped her create cover her bedroom walls. It’s her senior year, as well as the last school photography club trip she’ll ever be a part of. When Ray is paired with new girl Jude - who is determined to find her own way in Point Blink - they stumble on an abandoned fire tower in the forest. As the girls explore its mysterious contents, an act of arson threatens their lives.
Over the course of the winter, the girls spend afternoons in a dark room and build a profile for the arsonist – as well as a strong friendship. But as they delve deeper into Point Blink’s history, secrets surface within Ray too. Her mental health starts to decline, as well as her obsession with resolving her friendships. If she is ever to resolve the world she loves, she must care for herself.

We buried a time capsule beneath Sugarfell’s soaring pines and painted his bedroom walls a calm cerulean. We snuck out of house at nighttime to swim and went on a road trip to see our favorite band in concert. All my most colorful memories in Point Blink were unplanned in the beginning.]

[text ID: As it is, Lonan has always been a year older and a grade ahead of me. As I entered my senior year of high school, he entered his freshman year of college. It felt like we were miles apart. It felt like he was going to disappear.      Together, we stared across the pink beach. A piper toothed the drowned shore for beetles. Primordial fire reeds combed rays of golden sun to fine sparkles. Lonan never left the shore, just blinked slowly while pockets of young horseshoe crabs chased each other into a swirl of murky blue. I could never resist the water. Often I spread my arms wide, walked barefoot along the rock wall trailing away from the beach into the water. Lonan only watched me from the sand – smaller and smaller and smaller. Now I tried to focus on the melodic thrill of the waves, but a cold headache was starting in my forehead. Sometimes I think that if I didn’t put so much effort into my friendships, I might not be so angry all the time.]

[text ID: I suppose – in many ways – I didn’t talk to anyone about Lonan. Not about school, either. About my friends, about the headaches I kept getting every night, about how I’d lost my appetite completely last week.            
“My best friend and I used to come down here a lot.”
Jude’s smile was small. “When was the last time.”
“He’s away for college right now.”            
Her smile fell. “Oh. That’s why you didn’t want me to tag along with you.”            
I swallowed.           
“That’s why you wanted to come down here on your own, isn’t it?”           
Her arm brushed mine and it was so warm. It reminded me of the safe feeling I got whenever Florian hugged me.            
A breeze trickled through the trees we’d come from and cascaded faint sparkles across the water, feathered the waves away from the shore. Briefly, the gray clouds pulled apart the fog, and pale sunlight touched Jude’s cheeks, drawing a smile from her lips. It seemed that, even in the darkest moments, she managed to find something to love. It made me jealous.            
Her eyes were closed. “At least you can still watch the sun rise.”]

[text ID: Point Blink was like a sponge – it inhaled and exhaled water. Soaked up all rain and laughter, cursing and screaming. Rotting at the core. Sometimes I imagined Sugarfell might drink up all of that water, fold over itself like a map, and all those memories would surface from the ground with new bodies. Hands, the sort that I dreamed of appearing from underneath my bed. The hands of something that is supposed to be forgotten. Point Blink rarely exhaled. It just held its breath. Jude wasn’t afraid of Point Blink. She wasn’t afraid to live in a place where the people slogged from shore to shore, sunburned and bored. She wasn’t afraid to be alone in a place where the other kids grew up without her. She wasn’t afraid to sing as she walked up the beach and into the trees.

Lonan wasn’t totally convinced, because he tilted his head and stared at me with his green-blue eyes for a long time. “You were about to.”
Lonan leaned into my shoulder. For a moment, I thought he might have been crying since he was the sort of person who cried whenever other people cried. Sometimes I think he is the rarest type of person in the world. I wished I could feel everything the way he did.
But he wasn’t crying – he was just resting against me. He was never going to be taller than me, so his head fit onto my shoulder perfectly. He could stay there for all of eternity if he wanted to.
And suddenly, all that darkness and thick air didn’t hang so heavy over me.]

[text ID: Lonan came to me all at once: we were dissolved into black. I tried running to the opposite side of the fire tower, but then there was no ground beneath me. We must not have been that far up, because it didn’t take long for the rest of the tower to collapse beneath us. There was something soft underneath me – my bag or Jude’s arm. I could not see the sky – then light exploded from the veil we were trapped in. Jude’s hand found mine. She was shouting. I couldn’t tell what she was saying. I dragged myself through the grass, now pasty with smoke, infiltrating my throat, my eyes, my head – everything. It softened the world, made it easier to forget, but no easier to breathe. Jude screamed – a sound I never should have heard – and it brought hot tears to my eyes. Distantly, someone else screamed. It might have been me, but I wasn’t sure. Sirens wailed somewhere. We never heard many of them in Point Blink. I smelled of salt and smoke. What a fool I’d been to believe it possible I could carry on without my best friends, and what a fool Jude had been to think she could replace them.]

Okay got bored of deciphering my own notes, have some scribbled out character background notes (incomplete) for the Brazilians, as they hold the early plot. I also started on a few others, but I'll save them for another time as this is getting far far too long. Forever's feels a bit small, but like. I know his stuff less well and there's fewer complications. Not nearly as many kidnappings for a start.
(For purposes of this AU, XCOM is the Order and ADVENT [ie world-government of invading aliens] is the Federation. Cucuruchos are.. Well. You'll see. If I ever write it.)
Forever - current commanding officer. Was a member of the Order when it first formed, being dragged over from a fledgling if somewhat corrupt political career to serve as a liason between the government and a multi-national anti-alien military organisation. He was prompted to his position by means of dead man's boots; when the original HQ was destroyed, he clawed his own way out of the rubble, picked up a gun, and followed Cellbit's example in raising hell. Since then he's picked up a few more survivors, a lot of new recruits, and everyone listens to him for no reason he can quite work out except maybe they just desperately need someone to listen to. Has been working on anti-alien resistance since the invasion. Exhausted, in pain, he lost a lot when the original HQ was destroyed and the Order legally disbanded, more when the world surrendered to the aliens, and even more when the few survivors he had found were kidnapped or vanished. At this point he's mostly just surviving on the vain hope he can find the other Brazilians - winning against the Federation seems too much rn, but maybe he can find them and run away. Clues do seem to be leading him that way, so long as they are from someone friendly... From a certain standpoint, his severe depression and mental distress following the invasion should probably have him found unfit for duty. Unfortunately this is true of most of their people, and also there isn't really anyone else for people to band around. So he takes meds Aypierre brewed up, and hopes for the best.
Cellbit - currently missing, presumed dead. Was one of the most terrifying people in the old Order as according to their enemies, dabbling his hand in research and being a vicious killer of aliens. With knife alone he had more kills than most senior members. His earliest memories are of being a teenager fighting for his life in a warzone; it is presumed he was local when the war started (usual, human on human war), and just got caught up in it (which... may or may not be true). Had been in prison with Pac & Mike, but was caught and brought back. At that point he was given two options - join the then fledgling Order, or go back to prison. He chose the first, and his reuniting with Tazercraft was awkward to say the least. Over time he became the most highly ranked soldier in the Order, and also one of the best respected - he had an exceptional eye for important details, and was often found in the labs helping with the research. The fact he was technically working for them as a sort of punishment got forgotten as the situation got more dire. When the HQ fell towards the end of the war he was counted among the dead. However, of late, mysterious caches have started showing up, leading Forever and his team towards... Something. While nothing has been proven, Cellbit was well known for his love of puzzles, ciphers, and being a bit of an elusive weirdo. Forever, last of the Brazilian unit still active, desperately hopes the messages are from Cellbit, and that what they are leading him to are what he thinks it is...
Bagi - not yet recruited. Bagi has been looking for her brother for many years, ever since she gave the slip on a secret research facility. She doesn't remember much - if anything - about it, but she knows it once existed, and that is where she and her twin were from. Perhaps their parents worked there, perhaps something more sinister, leaving made her forget too much to remember. Her life was sacrificed for her brother and her chase, crashing against strange... Things at every turn. The alien war was only of note to her because it ruined her chances of breaking her brother out of prison, and she had no legal identity or skills to get in to the then government-funded Order. Once, just once, she nearly caught him - she hasn't seen him since. When the invasion was finalised, Bagi was caught up in one of the major cities - one of the ones where the bombs dropped were bioweapons, somehow twisting human flesh. By good luck and having a gas mask on her due to being a traveller in a war, she survived, only to be chased by undead in the city streets. Better than aliens, still undead. In time she found others, either other survivors of the bombs or people who fled into the ruins for desperation. Some of these survivors bought news of the fall of the Order HQ, and with it - though they did not know it yet - her brother's death. With nothing left Bagi stayed with them, learning stealth and combat and that an alien's flesh is edible, if prepared right. Recently, however, she has heard rumours of if not her brother then people who would know what happened to him returning, and it rekindled a small spark. While she detests the former-Federation workers who have formed their own resistance faction, she volunteered to meet with one as the new Order was facilitating and ensuring no violence from either party, and she hoped to catch someone with information she could use.
Felps - currently missing, presumed dead. A relatively junior officer under the old Order, but also the glue which stuck things together. Felps was technically speaking Cellbit's overseer while he's serving his time as a fighter instead of a prisoner. Despite being severely wounded during the escape attempt, he actually volunteered for the job. He turned a blind eye to a lot of Cellbit's chaos, and also to Pac & Mike's very presence in the Order, earning him friendship and favours from all three of them. He also befriended Forever, becoming the glue which first stuck the five together. He was at the HQ when it was attacked, and has not been seen since. Recently, however, a series of clues has been uncovered by agents of the new Order. While they are trying not to get too hopeful, all evidence indicates that they /might/ be leading to Felps... But if he died at HQ as everyone believes, what precisely does that mean?
Pac & Mike - once a unit, ever a unit. Currently missing, presumed dead. Were the Chief Engineers of the original Order. Their recruitment in the first place was messy - having just broken out of prison, Pac was severely injured. Mike, looking for any sort of medicine, ran into an alien attack. By the time actual forces arrived to help he'd rigged their own explosives to blow, and taken them out. Needing more people they tried to recruit him then; his price was getting Pac actual medical care. While Pac was recovering he'd be sent out on missions, but once they discovered just how deep his engineering knack was - and that Pac, playing with robotics for something to do while recovering from major surgery, was similar - the two were asked to start developing better armour, weapons, medkits, etc. They took to it like a house on fire. The two escaped the destruction of the original Order HQ not via clawing their way out of the rubble like Forever, but simply because they were out gathering parts for their latest project at the time. As soon as they heard the news they went to ground, years of criminal activity helping them hide. It was during this time they picked up Tubbo, and started training him too. Forever found them again when the three were blowing up Federation buildings for fun, and dragged them back in. They managed a while with the new resistance, doing much as they did before. One day they went out to gather parts for an airship they had been trying to repair to make a new base, and neither has been seen since. Officially they are missing, but the general assumption is they are dead.

look. I love good things come in threes and I packed a lot of stuff in it and it's like quietly one of my fav twin peaks fics I've written because of all the little world building things and I have notes I've held on to about how I wrote it
-sometimes I do think the fic is a little slow -- but not. In a terrible way?? In a sweet way. It's supposed to be a slow little afternoon. Just a little time
-ed has a tammy wynette tape bc he and norma listen to her in the pilot.
-there was a line I really wanted in there – “so you’re gonna stand by your man her into a prom date?” but it didn’t really tonally hit anyone’s dialogue, which I was having a hard enough time with. harry and hawk and ed are out there sharing a braincell and hawk has it 100% of the time
-the Fall Football Game Of Some Renown, where, according to the access guide, hawk ran the wrong way, and according to the secret history, hank fumbled a play, took place in fall 1968, so this fic takes place a couple weeks before that. I was imagining it as like a, thanksgiving game or something, bc the schools where I live always have a high school thanksgiving day game (or they USED TO), and the fic takes place like, early october.
-the mod squad (which also had peggy lipton) had indeed just started airing at the end of september that year, and the fugitive (which also had a one-armed man) had indeed started airing four years previously (and ended in 1967).
-oh! so i wanted them watching unsolved mysteries, but that aired too late in the timeline. then i wanted them watching the untouchables, but that would've just ended right before fall 1964. so that was how they watched the fugitive, because it started airing fall 1964. they're likely watching the first ever episode.
-oh, was that a weekend? i don't think it was, but. that's where my attention to detail conks out.
-okay the thing about time here. harry and hawk and ed are born in 1950. the fall football game is 1968. that makes them 18, seniors, and they will graduate in june 1969.
-frank is harry's older brother.
-FRANK IS INEXPLICABLY LISTED AS AT THAT FOOTBALL GAME.
-BUT HE CAN'T BE???? BECAUSE HE WOULD'VE GRADUATED?????? I'M???????? i'm still screaming. anyway in this fic frank is in college.
-hand to god I probably attended at least one “under the sea” themed dance in my school career, although I never went to homecoming. i don't even remember what the themes were. i think one prom was like???? a night in paris????? do NOT remember.
-the point is also that time repeats.
-i have never in my life seen the good the bad and the ugly, but it has that Classic Whistle-y Theme, which I figured they’d know. didn’t know if peaks was big enough to have a movie theater or drive in?? and I wanted to pull in the nearby town of newport (where hawk buys a car during high school).
-i picked the 1960 chevy impala bc it’s a cute ass car. love a good old car. that interior?????? to die for.
-guys just Loving their super inexplicably terrible cars is one of my favorite things. Ed's car is inspired by like 3 men I've known I swear to god who were just THAT into their terrible sad little cars. It's the PRINCIPLE of the thing, you know!!!! It's the car!!!! It's the memories!!!!!! You can't put a price or value on sentiment and what even a not well working car means to you. and.....it still WORKS. just needs a lil love.
-a group of guys banding together around their terrible little car and having a ROUTINE to get it to work is also. so good to me
-there's a lot of 'just needs a little love. Is it enough' in the fic bc that's how Harry feels about the town. That's what the town does. The love is not enough. But these friends love each other and are doing their best
-shout out to my mom for coming up with ed fishing out the cassette tape from inside the seat
-I cannot resist mentioning Diane Shapiro. I think it's a fun idea, if she and hawk are vague high school sweethearts and write letters to each other.
-harry has this vague deja vu (???) feeling of s1e6, where coop and hawk and harry and doc hayward go into the woods to find jacques renault’s cabin and find margaret’s first, bc I can’t resist some good time shenanigans
-harry thinks the cabins change because that was the only way I could rationalize them going into the woods in s1e6 and NOT RECOGNIZING MARGARET’S CABIN.
-you wanna tell me they'd never seen her cabin before??? they'd never been there????? really????? in all the years they've lived in twin peaks, of all the years harry's been sherriff????? they don't know that's margaret's cabin?????????????
-especially bc like, look at harry's face in that scene. he and margaret have looked each other dead in the eye and shenanigan'd before.
-anyway.
-the cabin that harry thinks is missing is jacques renault’s.
-the road with the controlled burning on one side and the forest fire remains on the other is 100% real. they do controlled burning where i live in late winter/early spring, to decrease the amount of stuff around in the event of a fire. and you can always see remnants of it for months after, just these scorched little baby trees and the bottoms of tree trunks. but over the summer there was an enormous forest fire, burned for like, three, four days?? smoke lingered for WEEKS after. (no structures were hit, which was good. and i think it did manage to jump the river??) and if you drove through the area, you could see this distinct split where the fire had hit, where stuff was just burned, leaves dead, everything orange and brown. and then just on the other side of the road, there'd be the controlled burn remains, these black branches against the most lush summer green leaves.
-my fav part is harry's flashback to the other fires -- just my favorite parts to write, I think there's a lot in there about. The town and the bookhouse mentality and failures that don't read as failures and. Everything, yknow
-fuck hank, btw, he's just. such a fucker. Harry loves him such a terrible amount here
-the 'good things come in threes' is bc the good things are harry and hawk and ed. They mean a lot to each other. Not you, hank. And harry is gonna have to learn that and it's gonna suck

Day 1 S B E R A U D = earbuds, daubers
Kurt pulls out his earbuds when he feels Elliott rest a warm hand on his shoulder. He’d been lost in his daydreams while Elliott put the finishing touches on his latest canvas, a blue and yellow impressionist-style work that Kurt honestly kind of loves.
“I think I’m good,” Elliot says into his ear, and Kurt resists the urge to unfurl from his chair and lick at the smudge of cobalt in the corner of Elliott’s mouth.
“Can I see?” Kurt stretches his stiff shoulders and walks toward his roommate’s easel. “Oh god, Elliott,” he almost whispers as his eyes fall on the canvas. “The color work is just spectacular.”
Elliott tosses his brush into the nearby can and draws his eyes appraisingly over his work. “Thanks,” he says mindlessly. “A little ‘blue period’ going on there, I guess. But I think I’m happy with it. Helps to have such a gorgeous model. Thanks.” He scoops up his brushes and palette and heads for the utility sink in the basement several floors below.
Alone in the apartment, Kurt rolls his shoulders again and flops onto the sofa with a groan. His cheeks feel hot – a result of his roommate’s casual compliment – and he grimaces at his own stupidity. Eight months he’s lived with Elliott. He’s been besotted with him the entire time.
Kurt and Elliott had met as graduating seniors at The Cooper Union School of Art. Their respective final presentations had been mounted next to each other at the gallery; Elliott’s paintings and charcoal sketches a striking contrast to Kurt’s mixed media and fabric collage. Kurt had taken one look at Elliott Gilbert and nearly swallowed his own tongue. 
They had spent the evening sipping champagne and chatting about their work and their futures,  laughing that in four years of school, their paths had never crossed. They’d discovered a surprising number of commonalities, from music to fashion to their midwestern upbringings and coming out experiences. Emboldened by champagne, Kurt had flirted quietly, pink-cheeked and giggling, until Elliott grinned and knocked their shoulders together and waxed poetic about his boyfriend.
Now, eight months later, Elliott is finally single and still hot, and Kurt remains utterly smitten with his roommate and best friend. He’s sure that if Elliott could just see him that way, they could be something really incredible together. But first Elliott had been nursing a broken heart and then he’d been busy rebounding all over New York and now that he seems to have settled into a comfortable single life, Kurt isn't sure how to push their relationship over the cliff and into falling territory.
He thinks that maybe modeling for Elliott has been a mistake, although he’s proud of the job he’s done as both a model and a muse. Elliott has so many pieces now – in various styles and media. And they’re good, even if Kurt does say so himself. Elliott’s talent is just one of the things that Kurt finds so attractive about him. Along with his shoulders and his kindness and his eyes and his sense of humor and his ass…
It’s just that spending so much time under the microscope of Elliott’s artistic vision hasn’t seemed to help Elliott see what’s right in front of him. Ironically. Sighing, Kurt rises from the couch and heads for the bathroom. He has a shift tonight, and he still needs to dump that tub of dyeing fabric and take a shower.

Elliott and Kurt spend a lot of time imagining what their lives will be like when they are both able to make their living with their art. For the time being, Elliott DJs at a couple of clubs and fronts a cover band while Kurt waits tables and waits to be discovered and waits for Elliott to wake up. They get by, and do well enough to splurge on a good night out once in a while. But neither of them will be getting rich any time soon. Which is why Kurt’s surprised when Elliott tells him that he’s going to open a gallery.
“Wait, what?” is his brilliant reply. 
Elliott laughs. “I have a tiny inheritance from my dad’s Aunt. She was a painter, too. I think this is what I wanna do with it. I saw a great little space for rent today. It’s close to Washington Square Park and The Gray. I think we could do this, Kurt.”
“We?” Kurt says. He’s clearly in top conversational form.
“Well, of course,” Elliott laughs again. “I can’t have an entire gallery of paintings of you, Hummel, pretty as you are.” 
Kurt blushes and ducks his head and dares to hope a little.
“I have an appointment to see it tomorrow. Wanna come?”
“Definitely,” Kurt replies. He smiles at Elliott. “This calls for celebration. Wine?”
“Nah,” Elliott grins. “Let’s go out. I’ll call Justin and Michael. You call Chandler. Tell him to meet us at The Up and Up.”
Kurt whoops and runs for his phone.

Your hands are one of the helping hands therapy muscle groups in your body, yet they play a major role in your daily function. Hand therapy exercises can help strengthen the muscles and tendons in your wrist, fingers, thumb, and other joints to support your body’s movement and help reduce pain.
A common strengthening exercise in helping hands therapy involves pinching a soft foam ball or putty between the tips of your fingers and thumb. This can help increase finger and thumb strength and improve dexterity. You can do this exercise two to three times a week, with 48 hours of rest between sessions.
Another simple strengthening hand therapy exercise involves sliding a pen across your thumb, index finger, and middle finger. This helps to boost motor skills and can be done with different resistance levels of the therapy putty. Using the same type of putty, you can also try rolling it out into a longer cylindrical shape and spreading your fingers to add more challenge.
Flexibility Exercises
These hand therapy exercises help to stretch out the muscles and tendons that can become short and tight with repetitive activities. They are particularly useful for those with tendinitis, which can cause pain in the wrists and fingers.
Among the most important hand flexibility exercises are thumb extension and flexion. For these, place your hand palm-down on a flat surface and slowly move your thumb inside and outside of the palm to stretch it. This is also known as thumb adduction and abduction.
Another common hand flexibility exercise is finger stretching. Rest your forearm, hand and fingers on a table or other flat surface and gently curve your fingers into a “claw” position.
Performing these hand exercises can help you gain more flexibility and dexterity. They can even give you temporary or longer-term relief from pain and numbness in the hands. However, it is always best to work with a physical therapist to learn these hand therapy exercises, as they are very advanced and may result in injury if not done correctly.
Coordination Exercises
Coordination exercises improve proprioception, which is the body's awareness of its position in space. This helps prevent sprains and other injuries that can occur during exercise, such as torn ligaments or pulled muscles. Coordination drills also help improve balance, posture and muscle control.
Hand-eye coordination is a critical ability for seniors to perform everyday activities, from picking up a utensil to reading a book. Incorporating hand-eye coordination exercises into daily activities can strengthen this skill and help prevent further decline.
Some simple coordination exercises include screwing a towel up to the ceiling and then down again, catching a small ball in your hands (try a balloon for an easier option), and doing medicine ball throws. These can be done from various positions, including standing, squatting, kneeling or on your back. Adding a challenge like dribbling a small basketball requires both the eyes and hands to coordinate with one another. The advanced example of juggling multiple balls requires even more coordination and eye-hand coordination.
Wrist Stretches
A physical therapist can teach you wrist stretching occupational therapy services that can relieve pain, improve movement and prevent future problems. The stretches are simple and can be done anywhere. A physical therapist can also teach you how to use exercise bands or light weights. They may recommend other exercises to strengthen the hand and wrist muscles. These include exercises that stretch the thumb by pulling it back gently, relaxing and then stretching again.
