geto: definitely listens to solo artists the most, like dpr ian, dean, iu, eric nam and bibi. if it was to be groups, he’d definitely listen to le sserafim or (g)i-dle (gg) and exo (bg). he listens to them when he’s studying, walking to his class, driving leisurely in his car or when he’s cooking. he’s not a hardcore stan like gojo or yuji, but he definitely likes the genre!!

gojo: literal twice, fifty fifty, and newjeans fan. he tries to collect all of the albums and gambles for photocards. he will listen to them everywhere and anywhere, sing their songs in the shower, scream at the top of his lungs in the car, you name it. the biggest fanboy ever !! he will definitely get floor or VIP tickets for concerts with how rich he is.

nanami: acts like he doesn’t listen when he actually does. his stoic expression gives people the impression that he hates k-pop, when he’s literally listening to red velvet’s “russian roulette”. he collects several albums, only because of the concept photos and so that he can listen to the CD’s on his cd player (yes nanami would most definitely still have a cd player). he listens to any group, wanting to explore different songs and concepts. he also listens to underrated artists

toji: he’s most definitely forced to listen to kpop songs LOL. forced as in he hears them everywhere he goes, in the store, restaurants, even the public restrooms, literally cannot escape them because of how popular it has become. but he’s been liking newjeans’s “omg” because, IT IS A CATCHY ASS SONG. he cringes at how he likes it, but he can’t deny how good it is. he’d probably assassinate someone for money to go to a concert and sit there like 😐🙂 the whole time while everyone else is screaming

choso: likes EVERY single damn group. ask him about any group and he knows, even the underrated ones that you probably never heard about. he’s a collector for sure, most definitely has a room dedicated to all of his albums, light sticks and other kpop items. he will go to every kpop concert near him, he may become broke, but not as broke as toji. he appreciates each and every artist, listening to their songs daily and keeping track of comebacks and shows.

sukuna: he hates it. ☠️ (unless someone can defend him)

yuji: same as his brother choso, LOVES and KNOWS every single group. but he’s a hardcore girl group stan, and he will literally talk about any group when you ask him. he knows boy groups, but he isn’t as strongly interested in them besides their songs. he learns the choreographies and makes sure he knows every word of the lyrics so he doesn’t sound too gibberish when he sings.

megumi: same as nanami, looks like he hates kpop when he listens to it. he listens to it when he’s studying or relaxing. he’s definitely a seventeen fanboy, he loves their different concepts and comebacks, like megumi sets a timer each time they have a new comeback. if it’s a girl group, he’s definitely a dreamcatcher or red velvet fan. he’d also be the type to like day6 and the rose.

Exactly! I feel like if a bg had ONE female member it would get bad reactions??? Ranging from shipping, her being treated weird by some fans, a lot of scrutiny having to go into dorms & how they interact, etc. & some people would probably be upset watching the male idols dance & be close with a girl smh 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think that already happened with Enhypen doing a choreo with female backup dancers I- 😔 mixed groups like Kard are awesome & I think it’s a great idea, but that group is balanced so it’s a 50-50 ratio for a reason! Has Chapter 2 shaped up like you expected after that post? Do you think each remains the same in investor's eyes? *Outside of JK, is there any member you see as a far second?

I recall that post, and to clarify, the question of marketability–specifically about Jungkook–was conveyed by execs through passive conversation, one not even brought up by the CEO of my company. I merely relayed that information, and some solos got their feelings hurt and lashed out.

I can't speak for other companies, but the label I work under is a host to Grammy-winning artists, and the CEO doesn't care about BTS that much from what I've been able to glean (not because they haven't won a Grammy; I merely bring up the distinction because the execs here have reaped rewards through the artists they already have signed). His stance on BTS is actually quite similar to others in his position when it comes to this influx of Kpop artists in the western space (i.e., a mocked trend but understanding it's profitable enough to exploit). The prevailing sentiment is that BGs/GGs don't have longevity; at some point, it's inevitable that they'll choose to prioritize individual career paths. They may maintain group activities in the background, but it's not as practical as investing in the individual who has the perceived mass appeal** and has that "western" flavor. TL;DR they want another Bieber, but that's the long game.

**Before some of you get your underpants wadded up, of course all the members have mass appeal. But stop conflating what you think is mass appeal with the definition that corporate has of mass appeal.**

Regarding BGs/GGs not lasting, that's where I do see where they're coming from. Yet, this is the first time we've seen a group of this magnitude smash records left and right; they might be the first BG to persist even past their so-called golden years. Labels can't talk about history that's still to be made.

Ch. 2 did turn out as much as I expected, personally speaking, but I'm not entirely convinced I saw all the members' (sans Jin) true potential outside of YG and NJ, primarily because of the time constraints. The only reason I think YG and NJ nailed what they meant to accomplish is because they're basically veterans at what they do, whereas the others just got a taste of what they could do with their own creations.

I will say, controversially, that I was mildly disappointed by the maknae line's output. Save for a few songs from TH, JK, and JM's respective albums, I wasn't a huge fan of what they delivered, but that's more a matter of personal taste. This isn't a commentary on how well they did because they all did well, but I was fervently for the hyung line's albums by the end of it.

But as far as what I heard in professional spaces? JK and YG's names came up often enough when JK was doing promotions and while YG was touring, but only for those already keeping tabs on them. My company was not one of them. JK is still, however, the one many people are eyeballing (e.g., some artists under our label have expressed an interest in collaborating with him, or so I've heard).

For me, I can think of a member who could pique execs' interest, but to be very frank, what I have to say about it would anger people. It would only anger people because the context does poke at things people are intensely sensitive to. People have proven on this website that they're not mature enough for that discussion, so I'm not going to dive into that. Aside from him, it'd be HS for me.

I do think a few of the members could catch any exec's attention for that idealized Bieber phenom they want, but having worked here for a while now, I can tell you that they would probably need to lean into things a bit that would mask, if not strip, them of what made them so special.** (My friend works for RCA, and we talk about what's happening with Lisa all the time).

**They're all special, yes, and they always will be. That's not what I mean. It's hard to explain the nuance of this if you aren't already exposed to what it is I'm talking about.**

Anyway, I think this sums it up. I won't/can't get any more specific. You should take all of this with a grain of salt; to you, this is merely opinion and hearsay.

Yes, GG's laugh did appear in the background of DD's card trick video. It's not edited in, it really did appear. I remember the first time I saw it I noticed the laugh myself, before turtles talked about it being a candy, and I was immediately 👀. Of course it could in theory be someone else laughing, but it's a pretty distinctive laugh. If it's someone else with the same odd laugh, that's a big coincidence.

The widespread translation of GG's interaction with Darren Wang on Sina day appears to be incorrect. The inital part of the conversation was covered on Marcus' YT channel, which can be found here.

The claim by some turtles is that as GG and Darren Wang are saying goodbye to each other, Darren Wang says, "You better get going or he (DD) will surely sulk."

I had a whole post about this somewhere in the past but I can't find it. A Chinese-speaking friend told me that's not what Darren Wang is saying, and that people are misinterpreting his words.

I asked @potteresque-ire to take a look and she agrees. Here's what she had to say:

I listened to it several times. There were a few words by Darren that were difficult to make out, but I can hear fairly clearly that Darren's last few words were 鬧你的直播 -- "raise havoc on the live broadcast". In the turtle version of the dialogue, since there was a pause between 鬧你 and 的直播, they omitted the last three words. 鬧你 can mean "scold you ", and so they translate into sulk. TBH though, in addition to the three words being omitted, I don't think 鬧你 as "scold you" is common usage in mainland / Taiwanese mandarin; only Cantonese speakers talk that way.

Without the you — just 鬧 — would have supported turtles version more. But the you is clearly there.

And so, I lean towards Darren saying something about raising havoc to the live broadcast as well. On bilibili, one of the translations given (can be by a solo) is: "Later I will come to wreak havoc on your live broadcast".

Which aligns with what I remember my other friend telling me a while back (wish I could find that post).

Little bit about me

Kpop and different albums I own:

I love kpop(⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠) Even though I've been an army since 4th grade my first album was New Jeans omg album.

My GG are: Twice, Red Velvet and New Jeans

My BG are: BTS, Stray Kid's, and Just B

I have three new jeans albums two of their second one and one of their first one that's the Haerin addition.

For Bts as a group I have 4 of their albums which is; Be, both butter albums, and map of 7 (I had bought them from a previous owner so they didn't come with their photo cards but they did still have the Polaroid, and message cards!)

As individuals I have Tae's Layover, Jimins Face, and Rm's indigo will be coming in the mail tomorrow!

For txt I only have one and it's their sugar rush ride, I will probably get their free fall one soon. I have Jihyo's solo album! I also have The boys as well, and I also have a nct cd not the album tho.

I do also have Stray kid's S class? album coming in the mail tomorrow as well! I had gotten into them during my fall break.

Video games:

I love RE games, as well as Kirby! I have Kirby dream land, and Kirby Buffett. I have the other one where he has to rescue his blue friend but I can't remember the name of it.😭 I love the Okami game as well the end made me cry omg I was not ready, but I was in class so I had to hold tears back lolol. Cult of the lamb or lamb of the cult however you say it, is pretty good as well! I also played the first little nightmares VERY GOOD GAME! I'm still trying to finish the second one since my data had restarted.
