Bg3 Cyberpunk AU

6 people get hired by a mysterious but powerful group called the Absolutists to do a job. These 6 strangers are all down on their luck, desperate enough to take the job even if everything about it screams sketchy. The rewards they’re promised could be the key to turning their lives around.

The Team:

The Face: Wyll the rockerboy, protector and voice of the people. He can charm his way out of near anything. His one-man band is known for its uplifting energetic tunes and its messages that urge to stand up in the face of injustice. He does occasional merc gigs, some for people down on their luck, and some for a mysterious woman who stinks of the corps

The Runner: Gale has always been a talented netrunner from a young age. His ingenuity and grasp of coding are superb, beyond many peoples capabilities. He wound up in a relationship with the legendary Mystra, the woman who invented the current net system. Rumor has it there's been a falling out.

The Ninja/Techie: Astarion knows how to sneak around and take people out quietly. He also has the tech skills to take apart someones security system and modify his weapons for maximum efficiency. He used to work as a doll for many years but has recently quit, taking up this new gig.

The Driver/Killer: Lae'zel is a skilled no-nonsense fighter with the resources and teachings of her nomad clan to back her. Her clan is known to be ruthless but effective fighters. To say they are wary of outsiders is an understatement. But the clan needs money, and Lae'zel is willing to take a gig to pull some cash in.

The Medtech: Shadowheart might be ornery with questionable credentials but she’s a highly competent medic. She knows how to tend to wounds just as well as how to make them. She has a strange piece of tech whose function is unknown. She carries it with her everywhere but refuses to explain what it is.

The Muscle: Karlach is a solo skilled at a variety of melee fighting styles. She used to work as a hired corporate assassin but has since gone freelance. She has a prototype piece of cyberware tech installed thats extremely handy in a fight, but faulty and dangerous both for those around her, and herself.

Aight here goes, sorry for the mess

💡Gale being a netrunner on a borrowed time since his cyberware is eating himself alive. His fixer (while also being his ex-lover) offered only one solution to his demise; sacrificing his corrupted virtu to temporarily cripple the Blackwall

💡Astarion, once was a big-hit lawyer and disappeared for a decade, re-emerges as one of the left hand for a big name in politic circles. Rumor is this politician used a few trusted of his people to 'house' an important experimental cyberwear to later be taken back and improved…

💡Wyll, son of Mayor Ravengard. While father wishes for him to continue down the politics, Wyll thinks it's more of a direct help to jump down on the streets directly, thus becoming an Edgerunner. Rumor has it he had dealings with people within Militech that granted him techs

💡Shadowheart, One of Arasaka's top agent. Her, being under Arasaka's teachings and guidance has little to none care for her selfish needs--that is until she was disconnected from their mainframe. Tasting the freedom and truth of her past, SH wanted to uncover all of it

💡Laezel was trained, Sponsored and backed by the Militech, she aimed to be the strongest living weapon of all times. Though, things didn't go smoothly once her implant was caught malfunctioned. She aim to regain control of her might, and refrains from being thrown away by the megacorp

💡Karla was a bodyguard of an NC political figure, then was betrayed and sold to a megacorp as a subject of experiment, and eventually broke out from there. The tech she gained DID enhance her abilities, but at the cost of it overheating and eventually gave her health problems

💡Mira's family had been loyal to Arasaka for decades, she had also fell into the corporation hole. Until everything fell apart, Arasaka revoked everything and her family ruined by the megacorp, she sought other ways of survival and making her own name in Night City.

And of course, my durge Ian who's probably far mor familiar to some of you in cyberpunk than in BG3..

I'm not gonna write it bc im already busy with my wips but.. Karlach could be dropped into a cyberpunk au with like zero complications.

Her boss sold her out to a devil fighting an endless war, enslaving her and forcing a body modification on her that makes her a killing machine but threatens her life. She wants nothing more than to be free and fuck nasty.

It's literally already a cyberpunk backstory..

Karlach, the Solo (cyberpunk au)

used to work for a corp as a samurai (corporate hitman) but is now a merc. She has valuable company biotech installed in her though and has to fend off corpo goons and hired mercs who want to bring her back dead or alive. It’s probably the latest sandevestan prototype, high end extremely powerful, but dangerous. She can’t even get it removed because of how it’s been integrated into her spinal cord. She tries to keep from using it because it’s highly taxing but she gets into a lot of scrapes and the power it lends is tempting

Who's Blood to Spill - series fandoms: Baldur's Gate III

Vinegar for Wine - (work) (finished) almost 50k words of angst! Starting about 70 years after the fall of the Netherbrain, Astarion is a cleric of Loviatar and still loves Gale, the God of Ambition. Astarion goes through a lot, but he'll get to start growing up for real some day when he finds a purpose in life. [This story deals a lot with mental health struggles and the coping mechanisms Astarion develops over the course of the story (almost a full century in timeline length, iirc). It has a lot of content warnings and is tagged per chapter, featuring summaries in the end notes for people who find individual chapter warnings to be a bit much. The ending is bittersweet; sad, but hopeful.]

Only Then, I Am Clean and The Rats Are Singing - the old version of Vinegar for Wine! I would not recommend these, and would prefer you read the above instead.

The People Will Call Me Rex - (work) (finished) a story about some background characters that takes place over a few days during the middle of Vinegar for Wine. Minthara, Halsin, and Dame Aylin are prevalent figures in the story. [This one is also pretty rough, but has a much clearer happy ending than the Astarion-centric story.]

The Cityscapes is an original setting that I created for a BG3 AU, but have expanded outward to use with other fandom content.

I Think You'll Find It Hard to Hurt Him - (work) (in progress) A cyberpunk/dystopian alternate universe with a Wyllachstarion endgame (Wyll/Karlach/Astarion). Astarion is represented by A574R-10N, an android who was left to rot in a warehouse after reaching the end of his usefulness. Wyll Ravenguard is a corrupt detective and the son of a City councilman. Karlach has escaped Hell and must travel the inhospitable apocalyptic wasteland to get back to Baldur's Gate.

Little To Do With Love - (work) (in progress) Harrowhark Nonagesimus has pledged her necromantic service to the Cohort, and they are proud to claim the greatest magic user of her generation among their ranks. Unfortunately, she has no martial to fight alongside her and has been suspended until she can find one. Gideon Nav is a normal citizen and works at a coffeeshop just a few blocks away from where Harrow is stationed.

OTP: Caught In Your Orbit - Brief Explanation on our Alternate Universe

I realize from the way the comic panels start off, and from what fans know of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, that there will be some questions on things you don't see. For example why is there no cyberspace Johnny in all of this? So this post is to clarify a few key details about this Universe along with wanting to give fans of the OTP a bit of character backstory.

To start things off:

Johnny is 100% dead. He did not survive the bombing of Arasaka Tower and his mind was never copied onto a shard. Reason for this is so our V isn't on borrowed time and we didn't have to try and RP his malware ass

Even though there is no Relic to steal, Jackie still unfortunately perishes during a high-paying gig around the same time the original gig would have happened.

Kerry meets V through Rogue's recommendation rather than V paying a visit to Kerry on Johnny's request.

This world does include other OC appearances but overall all OC's, including Nick and Virgil, have their own sperate timelines/worlds. What happens in this one doesn't need to accurately match the original world they come from, including NPC's like Kerry, Rogue and Dino.

I might be missing a few others but more will be explained as the story progresses.

Character Backstories! (or at least what you need to know for now)

Kerry Eurodyne

Most of Kerry’s story is the same as in-game. Kerry’s career path still goes from being a Samurai band member to a Rock Star Soloist. He gets married, divorced, and has that issue with UsCracks and his manager. In our world, we have expanded his character to be more of a family man where he would fret over you skipping meals or not sleeping properly. His biggest regrets in life are losing Johnny when he should have held on, and choosing his career over his kids when Louise blackmailed him. Kerry misses both dearly and he hates himself for not being strong enough when it mattered most.

Virgil Avara

Our official “V” in the story and @sammysilverdyne OC. Corpo-born, Virgil grew up in a tough environment that pushed him to succeed, where only the strong would survive and the weak would perish. Luckily though, Virgil never lost touch with the compassion and mercy within his heart and with the help of his best friend Jackie, left the Corpo life behind. From there the story plays out the same, minus how Jackie dies, and after Jackie’s death Virgil goes into a long period of mourning. It's not until the rent comes due that Virgil finally starts working again but strictly as a solo player, never taking on a partner even if it would make the job that much easier.

Nicolas B

Nicky first appeared in Kerry’s life back when Samurai was just a back-street band. He was their on-call roadie, taking care of their equipment and handling other day-to-day tasks before they signed on with Universal. They didn't meet back up again until Nancy's trial. During their time apart, Nick had become a hired mercenary, specializing in infiltration along while hustling his own custom tech for extra cash. He was the one who introduced Rogue to Johnny, and it was him Johnny first went to when the Rockerboy wanted to launch an attack on Arasaka. After the Arasaka Tower bombing, Nicolas disappeared without a trace and was presumed dead by those who knew him… that is until 50 years later when Virgil catches him skulking around Kerry’s villa. It is not revealed yet where he was during that time nor why he appeared now, but it is revealed that he goes by a new identity. B, a notorious arms dealer in Night City's underground market.
